Privilege to see Scheduler Jobs info in Grid 10gR1

Does anyone know what privilege you need to see the information under the Scheduler Jobs link, without granting the DBA role? Our developers, who do not have the DBA role, can see the link but no info in that section when logged in as themselves. They can see the DBA_SCHEDULER and DBA_SCHEDULER_RUNNING_JOBS views when logged into the database, via the SELECT_CATALOG_ROLE, but there is obviously something else they need to see this info in Grid.
Thanks
Steve

  • Can not see running jobs from, package

    I have a problem with processing parallely runing jobs:
    I am creating another immediately runned jobs in a main job. Those two parallel jobs (2 loads from different databases) have to be finished before I run next operation (working out loaded data). Problem is that, after starting those 2 parallel jobs, I can not see them by select from ALL_SCHEDULER_RUNNING_JOBS that is executed immediately after I create those jobs in a package. If I take a look into ALL_SCHEDULER_RUNNING_JOBS from anonymous statement I can see all my running jobs. Let's sum it up:
    1/ Start of main job
    2/ Running 2 immediately created jobs (load data)
    3/ Checking in loop if jobs created in step 2 are still running
    3.1/ Jobs are running (ALL_SCHEDULER_RUNNING_JOBS check) - sleep for a
    while - It never happens - can't see any running jobs from select executed in
    package but can see them in
    anonymous statement
    3.2/ Jobs finished - start processing loaded data
    Can somebody help me with this task?
    Thanks alot!

    Hi,
    There is no reason a job should be visible from an anonymous block but not from inside a job. There are two things that may be happening here.
    - jobs scheduled to run immediately my not start running as soon as they are created/enabled, you may need to wait a bit before they start running (they will appear in all_scheduler_jobs immediately but maybe not all_scheduler_running_jobs immediately)
    - you may be running into privilege issues. Is the user that executes the anonymous block the same as the user that the job is running as (the job's schema) ? If not maybe the job user does not have privileges to see the job (you can grant alter on the job to the user to ensure this).
    Can you see the jobs in the all_scheduler_jobs view from within the job with status RUNNING ? If you can see jobs in all_scheduler_jobs as RUNNING but not in all_scheduler_running_jobs then this is a bug of some sort.
    Thanks,
    Ravi.

  • Oracle Grid Scheduled jobs disappear from active tab?

    Thread was posted before as a similar situation.
    Grid Control jobs disappeared from schedule
    But was never answered;
    For Grid control v10.2.0.3 Unix box.
    I was wondering if this is a bug within OGC. Some of the scheduled jobs disappear from the active tab and have to be re-submitted. Does anyone or has anyone experienced this? Agents are in synch, and the only thing that was done was a bounce of the database and possibly the box itself.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    I have upgraded Discoverer 4i EUL to 10g EUL by using auto upgrade utility which comes with the Disocverer 10.1.2 and installed the Discoverer 10g Admin Edition on my PC. And I executed the batchusr_app.sql and assigned a user DISCREP(other than APPS). We are in APPS mode EUL. The script execution completed fine and the EUL5 packages were created under the DISCREP owner. When I log into the Discoverer Admin and select Tools/Privileges and at the point of assigning the result tables to a schema which is DISCREP, I am getting a message saying that 'EUL5_BATCH_REPOSITORY' package is wrong version and batchusr.sql script needs to be run. I ran the batchusr.sql script and when tried to assign the schema to own result tables it gave me the same message.
    Any ideas. You may have gone through this during your upgrades or installation.
    Thanks,

  • How can I see all scheduled jobs which have steps of a given user?

    Hello,
    I like to see all scheduled jobs which have steps of a given user. It is not importent which user has planned the job, I just want to check the usernames wich are used for accomplishing the respective step (-> field "AUTHCKNAM").
    In table " tbtcp" I can see the AUTHCKNAM for the jobsteps, but these table just contains the jobs which are in the state "finished/completed".
    In table "tbtcs" I can see the scheduled jobs, but there I can't see the AUTHCKNAM
    Do you know a table where I can see ALL Jobs or the scheduled ones and the AUTHCKNAM?
    Thanks for your help!
    Kind Regards
    Lisa

    Hi,
    thanks for your answers.
    I also tried the table "tbtco". There I can see all jobs, but there arent entrys in the column "AUTHCKNAM". Its empty....
    Maybe there is an other table?

  • Grant one user to see another's scheduled jobs

    What's the best way to grant one user the right to see another's scheduled jobs?
    If I just grant the user select on dba_scheduler_jobs it'll allow it to see all users jobs.
    Right now select count(*) from all_scheduler_jobs returns nothing.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    There isn't any quick way of doing this. There are 2 ways I can think of.
    - grant alter on every job to user1. This unfortunately allows user2 to not only see but also to modify user1's jobs. It also needs to be done manually for every job.
    - the best way is probably to create a view on top of dba_scheduler_jobs like
    create or replace view user1_jobs as select * from dba_scheduler_jobs where owner='USER1';
    then grant select on that to user 2
    grant select on user1_jobs to user2;
    Hope this helps,

    Needless to write that i use Oracle Db10g.
    Many thanks,

    Hi,
    The repeat_interval gets its timezone from the start_date parameter so if you want the job to run every 9am in a particular timezone XXX you would need to do something like
    START_DATE => SYSTIMESTAMP at time zone 'XXX',
    REPEAT_INTERVAL => 'FREQ=DAILY; BYHOUR=9;byminute=0;bysecond=0',
    XXX can be something like -2:00 or a named time zone.

  • How to display more than 255 chars in background job with ALV Grid ????

    Hi All,
    I am using ALV grid with OO.
    I have used call screen for ALV grid display. I have to display more than 255 characters in width. While running it, I can see the list perfectly.
    But in background mode, the list is truncated after 255 chars.
    Can anybody help how to send complete list(width more than 255 chars) to spool.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Neha

    Hi SAP fan,
    <b>YES you can run the ALV report in background mode.
    To run the report in background do F9 instead of F8, then give immediate and save.
    Now goto Sm35 goto job overview and view the job listed
    Choose the job and press the spool button. It will show the list created on the next page. When u clcik the list u can see the ALV output.
    To see this the job should be in the finished status.
    How to define Periodic Jobs
    1.Execute transaction SM36
    2.Define Job name, Job class, Target server
    3.Click on 'START CONDITION' button
    4.Click on 'Date/Time' button
    5.Enter Scheduled start DATE & TIME. Check mark 'Periodic Job' field. Click on 'Period values' button and select 'Hourly' or 'Dialy' or 'Weekly' or 'Monthly' or Other period and SAVE. Go back to main screen.
    6.Click on 'STEPS' button and enter Program name and Variant under box 'ABAP Program'. Click on 'Print Specification' button and enter Printer name under 'Output device' and SAVE
    7.Click on SAVE button until you get message on bottom of the screen that describes 'Job XYZ saved with status: Scheduled'.
    8.Click on 'Job overview' button or execute SM37 transaction.
    9.Select the appropriate 'Job name', 'User name', 'Job Status' & Schedule date under 'Job start condition' and click on 'Execute' button or press F8.
    10.You will now see all your scheduled JOBS.
    <b>Case: 2</b>
    You can Run in Background but make sure it is alv list, not alv Grid FM. if you are uisng alv list not problem , but if you are using alv grid then you can code like this..
    if sy-batch = ' '.
    call 'REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY'.
    else.
    call 'REUSE_ALV_LIST_DISPLAY'.
    endif.
    if you are using OO alv then write this code..
    CALL METHOD cl_gui_alv_grid=>offline
                    RECEIVING e_offline = off.
        IF off IS INITIAL.
          CREATE OBJECT g_custom_container
                 EXPORTING container_name = g_container.
        ENDIF.
    <b>Case: 3</b>
    if you are using OO ALV.
    Just before creating the custom container check for the following condition.
    Batch or Web Reporting
    IF cl_gui_alv_grid=>offline( ) IS INITIAL.
    CREATE OBJECT o_custcontainer
    EXPORTING
    container_name = lc_custcontrol
    EXCEPTIONS
    cntl_error = 1
    cntl_system_error = 2
    create_error = 3
    lifetime_error = 4
    lifetime_dynpro_dynpro_link = 5
    OTHERS = 6
    ENDIF.
    You can see the output in Spool in transaction SP01.</b>
    Good Luck and thanks

  • How can I locate a Scheduler job?

    Hi there,
    In the alert log, I see the following error :
    ORA-12012: error on auto execute of job 2915
    My question is - how do I find the definition for job 2915?
    And before you say - "that's easy, it's in all_scheduler_jobs", it's
    not in all_scheduler_jobs. The old dbms_job package had a column for
    job number, but the Scheduler doesn't. I've scrutinized the definition for
    all the Scheduler views, but nothing reveals the job number.
    When I look at all the jobs listed in dba_scheduler_jobs, nothing seems
    likely to be this mysterious job 2915.
    Does anyone have any idea how I can locate it?
    Thanks!
    Paul Stuart

    Hi,
    Actually I've been meaning to write this info up as a DBA tip, but never get round to doing it...
    The job number referred to is in fact the Object ID of the Job when dealing with a new Scheduler job and not an original DBMS_JOB job.
    Scheduler jobs are database objects now rather than just 'rows in a table' so have an object ID, visible in dba_objects. But the dba_scheduler jobs view does not display this column!
    See this example, I create a Job that refers to a non existant procedure. The object ID matches that put into the alert log when it fails only a second later:
    SQL> declare
      2    jname varchar2(30) := 'JOB_TEST';
      3    jtype varchar2(16) := 'PLSQL_BLOCK'; -- 'PLSQL_BLOCK', 'STORED_PROCEDURE', 'EXECUTABLE'
      4    jaction varchar2(256) := 'not_a_real_proc;';
      5  begin
      6
      7    dbms_scheduler.create_job (
      8                  job_name        => jname,
      9                  job_type        => jtype,
    10                  job_action      => jaction,
    11                  start_date      => systimestamp,
    12                  enabled         => TRUE,
    13                  auto_drop       => FALSE,
    14                  comments        => 'Test job can be dropped'
    15                  );
    16
    17  end;
    18  /
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    SQL> select object_id,  object_type,object_name
      2  from dba_objects
      3  where object_name = 'JOB_TEST' and object_type = 'JOB';
    OBJECT_ID OBJECT_TYPE         OBJECT_NAME
         53645 JOB                 JOB_TEST
    SQL> select job, error_date, error_line2 from dba_job_errors;
           JOB ERROR_DATE          ERROR_LINE2

  • Required roles/privs for viewing all scheduler jobs in OEM 10g

    Hello,
    I would like to know wchich role/priv schould have user to view all scheduler jobs
    in OEM console 10g. My user can see only few jobs in Scheduler jobs part of OEM 10g. User sys see all scheduler jobs.
    Thank you for reply

    Hi,
    If this is a highly privileged user you can consider the CREATE ANY JOB privilege. But this privilege allows a user to run code as any other user so it should only be granted very carefully.
    A user can also view any job he is granted ALTER privileges on directly.
    Hope this helps,
    Ravi.

  • Approver, certifier, fulfillment user set to oiminternal during role creation through scheduled job

    Hi all,
    We are running 11gR2 PS1 (BP01). We have a scheduled job that creates role and then populates approver_user attribute (with user ID) in the catalog entry of this role. We only want the approver_user to be populated and not the certifier and fulfillment user on the catalog.
    When i view the role in catalog, the approver user is correctly set with the user ID provided by the scheduled job however I see that certifier user and fulfillment user are automatically set to oiminternal.
    We did not see this behavior in R2.
    Are there any configurations that will prevent certifier user and fulfillment users to be auto populated with the identity of the user running the scheduled job (oiminternal)?
    Thanks.

    So while this certainly isn't the most elegant of solutions, and most assuredly isn't in the realm of supported by Oracle...
    I've used the DBMS_IJOB.DROP_USER_JOBS('username'); package to remove the 194558 orphaned job entries from the job$ table. Don't ask, I've no clue how they all got there; but I've prepared some evil looks to unleash upon certain developers tomorrow morning.
    Not being able to reorganize the JOB$ table to free the now wasted ~67MB of space I've opted to create a new index on the JOB$ table to sidestep the full table scan.
    CREATE INDEX SYS.JOB_F1_THIS_NEXT ON SYS.JOB$ (FIELD1, THIS_DATE, NEXT_DATE) TABLESPACE SYSTEM;The next option would be to try to find a way to grant the select privilege to the role without using the aforementioned "after CREATE on schema" trigger and dbms_job call. This method was adopted to cover situations in which a developer manually added a table directly to the database rather than using the provided scripts to recreate their test environment.
    I assume that the following quote from the 11gR2 documentation is mistaken, and there is no such beast as "create or replace table" in 11g:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e10592/statements_9003.htm#i2061306
    "Dropping a table invalidates dependent objects and removes object privileges on the table. If you want to re-create the table, then you must regrant object privileges on the table, re-create the indexes, integrity constraints, and triggers for the table, and respecify its storage parameters. Truncating and replacing have none of these effects. Therefore, removing rows with the TRUNCATE statement or replacing the table with a *CREATE OR REPLACE TABLE* statement can be more efficient than dropping and re-creating a table."

  • Scheduling from info package

    Hi,
    I want to scheule a load at later time today from the infopackage.I created one info package with background job,in the scheduling options I have given date and time.I would like to confirm whether it works?
    Could some one clarify this?
    Thanks
    Manish

    After specifying the scheduling option, did you execute(pressed 'start') it, or just saved it?
    If you  pressed 'start', it will run it at the specified time. To check this, you can see a job in 'released' status with that start time, you can see that in SM37.

  • All scheduled jobs started suddenly to fail with ORA-01031: insufficient pr

    I have a setup of gridcontrol 11g on windows 2008. I've been running successful for weeks until the other day when all my scheduled jobs started to fail with
    ORA-01031: insufficient privileges (rman jobs)
    ERROR: Invalid username and/or password (sql scripts).
    I verified for the accounts being locked, pw correct, expired / grace period, etc.
    all good when I try from the command line. running an rman backup from the command line works great, but the same one through the job scheduler fails with ORA-01031.
    I've dropped the jobs completely, recreated them again. same thing.
    I'm using preferred credentials and dropped and recreated them. same thing.
    I don't know where else to look. Only grid control scheduled jobs fail, but all of them do.
    I'm using SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS) in my sql.ne (always have).
    we use a windows domain server / domain authentication for logging into boxes. I haven't changed any of my passwords.
    I am probably looking in the wrong places. Anybody able to help?

    Hi,
    ERROR: Invalid username and/or password (sql scripts).This error message clearly tells that password is incorrect and "insufficient privileges" shows that perhaps you are using SYS user for running the jobs and password for user SYS is incorrect.
    If you are specifying passwords in your scripts, i don't think you need to set preferred credentials.
    Try following
    1) Remove preferred credentials
    2) Don't check password of user sys by locally logging in (because if Os authentication is on, even wrong password will allow you loging into the database and you will think that password is correct). Try connecting database using SYS user from a remote machine and check whether it accepts your password and make sure you have same password for your jobs and in sql scripts
    3) If still problem, just for test, remove SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS) and try

    Hi,
    There are a few other limits you could check .
    Make sure that you have not exceeded the maximum number of sessions or the maximum number of processes or the maximum number of scheduler jobs
    select * from dba_scheduler_global_attribute;
    and
    select name,value from v$parameter where name like '%process%';
    select name,value from v$parameter where name like '%session%';
    Also check how many jobs are currently running
    select count(*) from dba_scheduler_running_jobs;
    select count(*) from dba_jobs_running ;
    select count(*) from v$session ;
    One of these limits may need to be increased.
    The run_job succeeds because it runs in the current session by default, if you use use_current_session=>false, does it still work ?
    Also auto_drop only drops the job when it has completed e.g. past its end_date or exceeded its max_runs.
    Finally note that there is a dedicated forum for dbms_scheduler located here

  • Checking status of scheduled jobs in Hyperion System 9.3.1 ....

    Hi All,
    We have Hyperion System 9 9.3.3. We have a Daily job scheduled every morning to check the status of the scheduled jobs that run daily. One of the jobs has a status message as below.
    Failure - Internal error.ContainerCache.populate: The object "0000011386a6823b-0000-a99f-0a103a4a" is not found. It either does not exists, or it may be inaccessible.
    But when I check the job status in View Job Status > Job Scheduler module, I see the report is still running. It's just that this report is taking longer to run and completes some time after the Daily Job Status check report runs.
    In this case, shouldn't the status should say something like the job is still running instead of "Failure" which is misleading?
    Thanks in advance.

  • How to stop a Scheduler Job in Oracle BI Publisher 10g

    Hello!
    Can someone tell me how can I stop a scheduler job in Oracle BI Publisher 10g?
    I scheduled a bursting job to run a report but is running during two days.
    I would like to stop it.
    Thanks.

    Unfortunately there is no way to stop a job once it is being executed. Yes as you read, it is not possible once job has started.
    Same thing applies for running queries.
    Once queries are sent to the DB BIP loses control over them. The message you see (if any) "Click Here to Cancel" does not stop any query
    it is just a message.
    I guess you will have to stop/kill the process in your DB
    regards
