Prob. with update qry with special character data

Question

Hello Friends,
I have ligatures (, ...) contents in one of my table column
i need to update it as fi and fl.
Note:  is single character, update as fi "f and i are separate characters"

This could be due to the restriction that SQL text is converted to the database character set. If the ligatures are not part of your database character set but only part of your national character set then you can't use SQL literals. You can try to use corresponding SQL functions like UNISTR(), NCHR() etc., or if you are on 10gR2 or later you can try to use Unicode string literals using the N modifier:
select email from tbl where email like N'%@ep%';Note that you need to set in addition the ORA_NCHAR_LITERAL_REPLACE client environment variable to TRUE in order to prevent the default conversion to the database character set from happening.
