Problem about importing class

Hello,
i have this code.
<!-- NameProject.mxml -->
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="
http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
xmlns:my="components.*" width="100%" height="100%">
<mx:Script>
<![CDATA[
import lib.User;
public var u:User = new User();
trace(u.say("hello world"));
]]>
</mx:Script>
</mx:Application>
<!-- /lib/User.as -->
package lib{
public class User{
public function say(s:String):String{
return s;
i get this error:
1120 Access of undefined property
Why??
thanks so much

You have this Script block in your code:
<mx:Script>
<![CDATA[
import lib.User;
public var u:User = new User();
trace(u.say("hello world"));
]]>
</mx:Script>
The trace statement is just "floating" in there - it must be
in a function. When do you want this trace executed? For example,
if you want to display it when the Application dispatches its
creationComplete event, then add a creationComplete event handler
to the Application tag and then write the function to handle the
event in the Script block:
<mx:Application ... creationComplete="initApp()">
<mx:Script>
<![CDATA[
import lib.User;
public var u:User = new User();
private function initApp() : void {
trace(u.say("hello world"));
]]>
</mx:Script>
Now the trace statement appears in a function so you will not
get the error.

• Jikes compiler problem when importing class from a jar

hi everyone,
I'm new there so please excuse me if i post a pb that have been already answered...
I've a pb with jikes that is encountering a problem and so closing when compiling. I use ant to build my project.
In my classpath I have, among others, a jar named 'kepler.jar' in which I use the following class 'WSResult;'
In my java class I have the following import :
'import com._4d.kepler.model.WSResult;'
Do you think it is the character "_" that makes jikes to bug ?
What else can be the problem of not compiling and stopping building the project ?
Thank you very much for your help, looking forward to your answer...!
Florence.

Editing material is vastly different from just playing it.
With Audio, a player is accessing the actual file on the HDD, and reading the info from there.
The big difference is that with PrE (and PrPro), those files are not being used directly. When Imported, a couple of things happen:
PrE creates links to those files, for later use, when one Exports/Shares
PrE creates "proxy files," to display the Video on the Timeline, based on those links. It also creates proxy files for better display, when one Renders the Timeline, or portions of it.
PrE creates a CFA (Conformed Audio) and a PEK (Waveform Display) file, that are used - the CFA is to allow for critical editing and the PEK is what one sees on the Audio Track. The actual files are NOT directly accessed - only the CFA file.
For a bit more info on Conforming, see this ARTICLE.
Now, there have been some problems reported, where the Audio was Linear PCM/WAV. I do not know what there is about the LPCM, that causes the issue, but the "plain vanilla" PCM/WAV's seem to be trouble-free. I would love to read, from an Adobe employee, or audio engineer, explaining on why there might be issues.
For the red, and as there is some "earthiness" to it, I like the Acacia Carneros Pinot Noir. I pick it up at Costco for about US $22. It has proved to be about the best inexpensive PN, that I have encountered. Another, is the Peachy Canyon Incredible Red, which I have picked up "on sale" for around US $ 9. Their Peachy Canyon East Side Zinfandel, is even better, and I've found it as low as US $ 15. If you can find the Glen Carlou Grand Classique (South Africa), it is about the best cheap Bordeaux Blend, that I have ever found at ~ US $ 12.
Good luck,
Hunt

• About importing class libraries?

I want to develop a webmail project,so I must use the javax.mail.*,but when I build a new project by J Bulider 5,I can not import those class,why?the same project is when I develop an common project,I can import javax.servlet.*, but when I build a web project,it do.why????thanks

Presumably you mean you can't compile it.
There is some obscure way that you have to include the jar in the IDE that you are using. You can wait until someone provides that or search in the forums for JBuilder and find one of the previous posts that explains how to do it.

• Problem with importing a class

When I compile my class, I get an error pointing to the import statement saying that it expects a period. Below is my code followed by the error I get:
import Entry;
public class Dictionary2 extends Entry
protected Entry entries[];
public Dictionary2(String puzzle) // constructor

if (puzzle == "unscramble")

entries[1].setEntry("monkey", "Zoo animal");
entries[2].setEntry("meerkat", "Cute furry African animal that stands 12 inches high on its hind legs");
entries[3].setEntry("burrow", "Where meerkats sleep and raise their pups");

There is nothing wrong with my Entry class. It's where it's supposed to be, and it's compiled correctly. Why is it wanting a period? Your help will be greatly appreciated.

What I'm talking about is this: When you use a package, you have to create a directory path on your hard drive, like com\mydomain\project\Entry. When you want to upload it to a website, what do you do? Will it not work anymore? Will you have to create com/mydomain/project/Entry on the website? Please forgive my lack of knowledge. I am very inexperienced.You're confusing the classpath with your package structure.
Packages are used to organize Java classes. You import classes based on their fully-qualified name, including the package they belong to. Packages are location-independent.
The classpath is how the Java VM finds all the classes you're using. When you run a java program, you supply a list of paths to package roots and jar files, which the VM will use as a starting point to find the classes you've imported.

• Problem importing classes and beans

Hey there. Im having one major fustrating problem! When I code supporting classes and beans for my JSPs I get a code 500 internal server error when trying to import (via <%@ page import="class" %> and <jsp:useBean/>) Im storing my classes and beans in the WEB-INF folder and the calling JSPs are located in /ROOT/tests/8/jsp.jsp. Im using the following to import a class or bean:
<%@ import="aClass" %>
Seen as tho its in the WEB-INF folder I won't have to explicitly refer to where the class is located, just the class name.
I never had this problem when I was using my hosting service. Its only on my localhost server in which I get the Internal Server error.
Help appreciated, thx.
PS: Im quite new to JSP/Java Servlet.

import (via <%@ page import="class" %> and
<jsp:useBean/>) Im storing my classes and beans in the
WEB-INF folder try put your class file in WEB-INF/classes.
or first put bean in the package, like WEB-INF/classes/packagename/beanclass
in jsp page:
<jsp:useBean id="Mybean" class="packagename.beanclass" scope="request" />
Question: is /ROOT a context entry in your server.xml?
Which JSP Container (version) you use? Maybe your localhost server's set up is different with your hosting.

• To ragnic and other about Singleton class

Hi ragnic. Thanks for your reply. I posted the code wrong. Heres' my correct one.
I have a GUI first loaded information and the information is stored in a databse, I have some EJB classes..and my singleton class ABC has some method to access to the EJB..
so my first GUI will gather info using singleton class and later if I click on
a button in my first GUI class, will pop up another frame of another class , this class also need to class setPassword in my Singleton..
are my followign codes correctly??
iS my Class ABC a SINgleton class? thanks
Is my class ABC use as single correctly. And It is called from other classes is also correct?
I'm new to java and like to learn about Singleton class.
But I really dont' understand it clearly after reading many examples of it.
I have a project to convert my class abc to a singleton.
But I dont know how to do it.
In my class(soon will become a singleton) will have few methods that later I need to use it from another class A and class B.
I have a GUI application that first load my class A..and my class will call
class abc(singleton) to get some information from it.
and then in class A has a button, if I click on that button I will call SIngleton class again to update my password, in the singleton class has method calls updatePassword. But I dont know how to call a singleton from other class.
I have my code for them below:
1)public class ABC //attempt using a singleton
private static ABC theABC = null;
private ABC(){}
public synchronized static ABC getABC()
if(theABC == null)

1. When replying, use <reply>, don't post a new topic.
2. Implementing a singleton is a frequently asked question. Search before you post.
3. This is not a question about Swing. A more appropriate forum would be "New To Java Technology" or perhaps "Java Programming", but see point 1.
4. When posting code, keep it short. It increases the chance of readers looking at it. And in composing your shorter version for the forum, you just may solve your problem.

• Problem for import & package

Hi, I got a problem about the import and package , my problem is like that : I write 2 java files call Test.java (C:\..\test\GetAdd\Test.java) and Tambah.java(C:\..\test\tambah\Tambah.java)
//Test.java
package test.GetAdd;
import test.tambah.*;
public class Test
private Tambah add = new Tambah();
public Test()
System.out.println(add.get());
public static void main(String[] args)
Test t = new Test();
//Tambah.java
package test.tambah;
public class Tambah
public int get()
int h = 5;
return h;
When i compile this 2 java files, it got error that say can't resolve class Tambah, why?
Thanks

(For a casual compiling use the console window with the parent directory of your "test" directory as the current directory, and the command above.)

• Tempo problems with imported wav files

Hey everyone, sorry if there's a quick fix for this in the forums that I couldn't find, but I've been having some tempo problems with imported .wav files.
Long story short, my system couldn't handle playing all the tracks for a song while recording drums, so I bounced out an mp3 of the song and put it in a new Logic file so my drummer could just play along to that as I recorded him. Unfortunately, the original song is at 167 bpm, but I forgot to change the bpm in the new Logic file with the .mp3 file of the song to 167 bpm, so it was left at the default 120 bpm.
So, the drums were recorded at the correct 167 bpm, but Logic thinks that those new drum .wav files should be played at 120 bpm, so when I import my drum tracks back into the original file, they do not play correctly at all.
I could get record it all again, but I wanted to check if there was a way I could salvage what I already have, since my drummer lives about an hour away right now and can't just come over whenever he wants.
Thanks for the help! I really appreciate it.

Hi,
First, do not use MP3 in Logic, the sound quality is less than AIFF, WAV or CAF, and Logic has to decode it for playback, making it a heavier burden on the CPU than an uncoded audiofile, such as AIFF, WAV or CAF.
Secondly, audio files are independent of Logic's tempo. If you bounce down an audio file in any format (other than Apple Loop), it will play back at the same speed, +regardless of Logics' tempo setting+, either at recording or playback. Logic doesn't 'think' anything. The BPM is only important to MIDI tracks, or to the spacing between audio files. The audio files themselves *are not affected* by the tempo setting. If you import an audio file of tempo 167 into a 120 BPM project, the file will still play at 167, only Logic will indicate the wrong bar positions.
regards, Erik.

• An old and difficult problem about "UnsatisfiedLinkError"

Hi dear all,
I have been struck with the problem about "UnsatisfiedLinkError". I have a c++ class HelloWorld with a method hello(), and I want to call it from within a java class. In fact, I have succeeded in calling it on the windows platform. But when I transfer it to linux, the error "UnsatisfiedLinkError" comes out. I have tried to take the measures as Forum has suggested, but it failed.
The source code is very simple to demonstrate JNI.
"HelloWorld.h"
#ifndef INCLUDEDHELLOWORLD_H
#define INCLUDEDHELLOWORLD_H
class HelloWorld
public:
void hello();
#endif
"HelloWorld.cpp"
#include <iostream>
#include "HelloWorld.h"
using namespace std;
void HelloWorld::hello()
cout << "Hello, World!" << endl;
"JHelloWorld.java"
public class JHelloWorld
public native void hello();
static
System.loadLibrary("hellolib");
public static void main(String[] argv)
JHelloWorld hw = new JHelloWorld();
hw.hello();
"JHelloWorld.cpp"
#include <iostream>
#include <jni.h>
#include "HelloWorld.h"
#include "JHelloWorld.h"
JNIEXPORT void JNICALL Java_JHelloWorld_hello (JNIEnv * env, jobject obj)
HelloWorld hw;
hw.hello();
All the files are in the same directory and all the processes are under the dirctory:
1. javac JHelloWorld.java
2. javah -classpath . JHelloWorld
3. g++ -c -I/usr/java/jdk1.3/include -I/usr/java/jdk1.3/include/linux JHelloWorld.cpp HelloWorld.cpp
4. ld -shared -o hellolib.so *.o
5. java -cp . -Djava.library.path=. JHelloWorld
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no hellolib in java.library.path
at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadLibrary(ClassLoader.java:1349)
at java.lang.Runtime.loadLibrary0(Runtime.java:749)
at java.lang.System.loadLibrary(System.java:820)
at JHelloWorld.<clinit>(JHelloWorld.java:7)
Tried another measure:
i) export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=.:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
ii)java -cp . JHelloWorld
The same error came out as above.
I really don't know what is wrong with it.
Would you like to help me as soon as possible?
Thanks.
Regards,
Johnson

• Importing Class

I was reading the tutorial on importing class's. This is what
I read
Importing classes
To reference a class in another script, you must prefix the
class name with the class's package path. The combination of a
class's name and its package path is the class's fully qualified
class name. If a class resides in a top-level classpath
directory--not in a subdirectory in the classpath directory--then
its fully qualified class name is its class name.
To specify package paths, use dot (.) notation to separate
package directory names. Package paths are hierarchical, where each
dot represents a nested directory. For example, suppose you create
a class named Data that resides in a com/xyzzycorporation/ package
in your classpath. To create an instance of that class, you could
specify the fully qualified class name, as shown in the following
example:
var dataInstance = new com.xyzzycorporation.Data();
My Question is about com/xyzzycorporation/ . would the full
class parth be c:/com/xyzzycorporation/ . Why do they never state
the drive letter when teaching about directories.

Because there is no need. you don't need to reference the
drive letter.
Here's the basic jist of what they are saying....
Single Class File...
If you create your own custom class and want to use it in
your flash file, save it into the same directory as the fla file
and call the classes constructor. By default flash will look inside
the folder where the fla resides in for the class files if it
cannot find it inside the default directory.
Multiple Class Files - 1 Project (often referred to as
packages)
Use your qualified domain name but backwards.....
my domain is www.sd-dezign.com so if I was going to include a
package of utility class files in my document I would do the
following
Create a folder in the same folder with my fla name it com
and inside that a folder called sddezign and inside that utils and
all my as files would be in there...the folder structure might look
like this....
myfile.fla
com
>sddezign
>>utils
>>>box.as
>>>circle.as
To call the constructor for each class, I have two options.
The first which is by far the easiest looks like this
In whatever frame you need to call that class constructor
include "com.sddezign.utils.*";
var myBox:Box = new Box();
The second method requires more typing and can get tedious
var myBox = new com.sddezign.utils.Box();
Hope this helps you a bit better.

• Problem in importing package

i am new to java and facing problems in importing package which are self made.
secondly does JDK 1.1.3 can support swing

Hi,
I had some problems myself. I will add few lines, maybe it helps:
OK, let's assume that you work in a directory. In this case, set classpath to this hierarchy as well as to "." ('this' hierarchy - like in DOS).
Now, assume that you want to use packages MyPack1 and MyPack2. The source files of classes belonging to MyPack1 must:
- start with command
package MyPack1;
- be located all in the directory MyPack1
(and the same for MyPack2, of course)
If you want to use MyPack1 within MyPack2, you have to include:
import MyPack1.*;
even though MyPack1 is, in fact, located on path: ../MyPack1/*
(trust the classpath is important here)
