Problem at update blob columns.

Hi,i have a table like this.
create table customer
(id number,
photo blob,
sign blob,
pass_view blob);
I have a form based to this table (at 9i) which has 3 image item.
By using webutil i read image files to this items and after commit i stored them to database.There is no problem up to this time,inserting data to database seems correct.
Now i want to update an imge from database and I open form again and execute query.All 3 images was seen.I changed 3rd pass_view image again by reading another image file from file system.After commit and execute_query again i understood that photo column is now having new pass_view image and pass_view column is null.
In trying different loading to different images,i have problems again.
Only if i read 3 images from 3 files to image items again,i have no problem in updating.
Is there a problem in having 3 blob columns in a table?

I have the problem even with 2 images (2 BLOB fields in table).
Forms application updates the first image if you replace only the second image. If you replace both images everything is correct.
Honestly speaking I have this problem with 9.0.2 version and probably in couple weeks I'll test it on 9.0.4.
Thanks
Vitaliy

  • Error when updating blob column

    Hello,
    im using the SQL-Developer and i have problems with updating blob columns.
    I'm getting the following error:
    UPDATE "MED400_INSTALL"."AMEDN_INSURANCE_TEMPL" SET WHERE ROWID = 'AAM6j5ABGAAAADpAAJ' AND ORA_ROWSCN = '26019698898'
    One error saving changes to table "MED400_INSTALL"."AMEDN_INSURANCE_TEMPL":
    Row 15: ORA-01410: Ungültige ROWID
    I'm updating different tables and different rows.
    This error is not shown in all cases. I can update some rows but not all off them.
    Is this a bug?
    TIA

    I made some further investigations and have some more results.
    - the problem does not occur all the time
    - the problem seems to occur in the following situation
    - User A: updates the blob-field using the sql developer menu and commits (-> success)
    - User B: updates the blob-field using the sql developer menu and tries to commit (-> error)
    - the error stays until User B does a rollback, after the rollback user B can update the blob-field! and user A gets the error.
    Here are some extracts of sql developer log. It shows that the same row can be updated in somes cases, in others cases you get an error. After a rollback the field can be updated successfully The rowid ist the same. ora_rowscn is different:
    UPDATE "AZUBI2"."AMEDN_INSURANCE_TEMPL" SET WHERE ROWID = 'AAc6TTACEAAAAHQAAC' AND ORA_ROWSCN = '26087686991'
    One error saving changes to table "AZUBI2"."AMEDN_INSURANCE_TEMPL":
    Row 1: ORA-01410: Ungültige ROWID
    Rollback Successful
    UPDATE "AZUBI2"."AMEDN_INSURANCE_TEMPL" SET WHERE ROWID = 'AAc6TTACEAAAAHQAAC' AND ORA_ROWSCN = '26087687075'
    Commit Successful
    I could offer a dump where you can possibly reproduce this issue. Where can I send or upload it.

  • Databinding Problem after Update (SQL Column renaming)

    I updated my JSC yesterday. Since then I cannot bind a datatable column to a renamed SQL Column. Thats very distracting. Is there any configuartion change to do or something else.
    Another thing: Is there any check by the IDE which shows me, which component exists in the pagebean and which in the JSP. I got a lot of error regarding not existing getter and setter in the pagebean.

    Hi Marc,
    Please explain what is the problem you are facing while trying to bind a datatable column to a renamed SQL column. Are you getting any error messages, if so what are they? What are you trying to do exactly? It would be helpful if you can give a detailed step by step procedure to reproduce the problem.
    Every component that exists in the JSP will exist in the page bean too. Please explain what exactly you did to get errors about getter and setter methods. Are you adding components to the JSP source or Pagebean source manually? Again a step by step description for reproducing the problem will enable us to provide answers to your questions.
    Cheers

  • Problem in updating first column header in JTable

    hi
    I am using JTable in my application. I want to change first column name of JTable every time when a JList is selected. I am using DefaultTableModel for JTable. I added first column in Constructor and another in a method. I have to edit only first column header. How can i do this???
    I used this code but it is not working.

  • BLOBDestination. Problem in updating BLOB field

    hi,
    Im trying to customize BLOBDestination package to update a BLOB field. So I modified the method insertBLOB replacing the insert statement with this
    stmtStr = "UPDATE " + " " + tab + " " + "SET "+ "'" blobCol "'=" + "'" + "empty_blob()" + "'"+ "WHERE " + "'"+keyCol+"'=" + "'" + key+ "'" ;
    stmt.executeUpdate(stmtStr);
    calling BLOBDestination from form I got this stmtStr:
    UPDATE MYTABLE SET blob_field=empty_blob() WHERE col1 = 'val1' (copied from OC4J_BI_Forms log file)
    but the execution returns this error:
    REP-50125: blobdestination : exception: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00933: SQL command not properly ended
    I can affirm that the statement works if executed from TOAD or SQL*Plus
    what's wrong?

    It depends on how you have your table control set up.  When you say that you are updating the table control field, are you updating the value of the field wherever the table control data is being pulled from (I.e. the original table)?  Or are you updating the value in the internal table that is part of the table control definition (I.e. the field shown within the table control if you look at the screen layout)?  Make sure that if you are changing the data in the original table that you then also update the actual table control fields as well.  Also, are you making your changes in the PBO module before the screen is ever displayed?  You may need to use a MODIFY SCREEN statement after you make your changes, depending on when your code is called.  I hope this helps.

  • Problem Updating BLOB Data in DB

    Hi, There,
    I have a problem when updating BLOB data in database table. I am
    using Oracle 8.1.6, JDK1.3.0., oracle thin driver.
    I have a Handle object handle (javax.ejb.Handle), and I need to
    save this object in DB. The table has 2 columns: column 1
    is "PK" Varchar2(30) Primary Key, column 2 is "HANDLE" BLOB.
    According to the documentation I found from Oracle, I first
    initialize the blob column, and then get the BLOB locator.
    However when I try to update the BLOB data by invoking
    executeUpdate() method on OraclePreparedStatement ops, I always
    get the returned int rowCount=0, which indicates that no rows
    have been updated. (This is verified by trying to retrieve the
    BLOB column value which results in SQLException: Exhausted
    Resultset.)
    Any suggestions what was wrong with the code? Thank you a lot in

  • Updating a column of a table

    Hi all
    I have a problem in updating one column in the target table(say table A) from a column in the source table (say table B).
    All the columns in table A has been populated. Just one column should be populated. My source is a SQL object that contains a complex sql query that returns three columns date_from, date_to and ID.
    In the table A, I have the same date_from and date_to and need to get the ID from the SQL object and set it to the corresponding ID in the table A.
    I tried many ways to update the table, but it I couldn't ;(
    I should read from a table and update it based on a look-up function mapped to the column I need to update.
    I want to map the ID colmn from table A to a look-up ext function that can get the column from the table B. However I don't know how to use the Data Services objects to just update 1 column. If you could give me a consequence of the DS objects to be update a table based on a look-up , I would be so grateful.
    Thanks.

    Your dataflow should look like this :
    1) Source = the SQL transform with date_from, date_to and ID as columns.
    2) Next add a query (copy all columns from schema in to schema out) and set date_from and date_to as keys. Also make sure column names exactly match the column names in your target table, if not rename them in this query.
    3) Add a Map_Operation transform that maps all "normal" operation codes to "update"
    4) Finally add your target table and in the properties/options set "use input keys" to yes (or checked).
    This will generate UPDATE statements for all columns used in the query with a WHERE clause based on the keys defined in the query (date_from, date_to).

  • BLOB column not updating using automated row processing

    I have fiddled around with creating a simple application to understand how APEX handles images stored in blobs - did a simple app that stores them, gets them, displays them. it all works great.
    so i have this existing table/application that i am trying to add a BLOB column to here's what i did:
    it's a pretty simple form on a table with report application. just one table.
    I added the BLOB to the table (and the other mimetype etc cols as well).
    i added the page items to the form page.
    i basically made everything identical in terms of page item settings and such to the working simple application.
    so here's the problem... when i run the application and update a row, the BLOB column isn't updating. neither are the mimetype or filename columns. the activity date col is.
    and here's another interesting thing. i quickly created another form and report pair on the same table, and when i ran it, it updates the blob col just fine.
    why is my original form not updating it? what can i do to remedy this? any ideas? i've gone though setting by setting for the blob page item and the one that works is identical to the one that doesn't.
    i'm using the automatic row processing to update the table.

    Gary,
    The DML processes (and the creation wizards for them) are for use with items having source type Database Column. If your page items don't use this source type, then neither the Automated Row Fetch nor the Automatic Row Processesing (DML) process types will work.

  • Problem with update of BLOB field in a table with compound primary key

    Hi,
    I've been developing an application in Application Express 3.1.2.00.02 that includes processing of BLOB data in one of the tables (ZPRAVA). Unfortunately, I've come across a strange behaviour when I tried to update value in a BLOB field for an existing record via a DML form process. Insert of a new record including the BLOB value is OK (the binary file uploads upon submiting the form without any problems). I haven't changed the DML process in any way. The form update process used to work perfectly before I'd included the BLOB field. Since than, I keep on getting this error when trying to update the BLOB field:
    ORA-20505: Error in DML: p_rowid=3, p_alt_rowid=ID, p_rowid2=CZ000001, p_alt_rowid2=PR_ID. ORA-01008: not all variables bound
    Unable to process row of table ZPRAVA.
    OK
    Some time ago, I've already created another application where I used similar form that operated on a BLOB field without problems. The only, but maybe very important, difference between both the cases is that the first sucessfull one is based on a table with a standard one-column primary key whereas the second (problematic one) uses a table with compound (composite) two-column PK (two varchar2 fields: ID, PR_ID).
    In both cases, I've followed this tutorial: [http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/apex/apex31nf/apex31blob.htm]).
    Can anybody confirm my suspicion that Automatic Row Processing (DML) can be used for updating BLOB fields within tables with only single-column primary keys?
    Thanks in advance.
    Zdenek

    Is there a chance that the bug will be included in the next patch?No, this fix will be in the next full version, 3.2.

  • Persist document in BLOB column problem

    Hi all,
    I'm having problem with persisting document in BLOB column.
    Using debuger I checked that document.doc contains correctly uploaded file before persist. There are other attributes of document and they are persisted correctly, but when I check blob size in database it size is 1byte which is incorrect.
    After I persist second file, first one get his correct size value, and size of second one is 1byte.
    If I stop weblogic server, second value will never be populated. If I only restart application without restarting server, and then upload third document, size of second one will be corrected.

  • Error in updating a blob column

    hi good morning every one,
    first of all i created directory images as 'C:\images'
    then i created table PRICUSTOMERPROOF
    Name                     Null Type
    CUSTOMERID                    VARCHAR2(50)
    IMAGEID                            NUMBER
    IDTYP                                 NUMBER
    IDVALUE                            VARCHAR2(50)
    IDEXPDATE                        TIMESTAMP(6)
    IDIMAGE                            BLOB
    ACTIVEC                            NUMBER(1)
    USERR                              VARCHAR2(10)
    DATEE                              TIMESTAMP(6)
    DEFAULTC                        NUMBER(1)
    CUSTOMERIDENTIFICATIONID      NUMBER
    then i inserted all the values in the table except IDIMAGE column
    then i tried to update the column with
    DECLARE
      l_bfile  BFILE;
      l_blob   BLOB;
    BEGIN
      SELECT IDIMAGE
      INTO   l_blob
      FROM   PRICUSTOMERPROOF
      WHERE CUSTOMERID = 'Pri29098'
      FOR UPDATE;
      l_bfile := BFILENAME(upper('images'), 'Tulips.jpg');
      DBMS_LOB.fileopen(l_bfile, Dbms_Lob.File_Readonly);
      DBMS_LOB.loadfromfile(l_blob, l_bfile, DBMS_LOB.getlength(l_bfile));
      DBMS_LOB.fileclose(l_bfile);
    END;
    when i execute the codes i am getting
    Error report:
    ORA-22285: non-existent directory or file for FILEOPEN operation
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_LOB", line 805

  • Problem with download link for a BLOB Column in a "Classic report"

    I am having a problem where I cannot make a download link for a blob column function in a "classic" (non-interactive) report. I went through the tutorial on this topic and it was great help it working out the minor bugs, but I get a 404 error (apex_util.get_BLOB not found). For testing purposes I went ahead and created a an identical report on the same page that is an "Interactive report" and it works like a charm. Same query, same BLOB formatting Mask, pulling data from the same table. So, it really doesn't seem like an issue with the grants, since both reports should be executing as the same user.
    I know it sounds like the obvious answer is to just go with the interactive report and my problem is solved, but the rest of this site uses classic reports, and I don't need the sort features of an interactive report, and the slightly different style of the the report really stands out even if I turn off all the bells and whistles. I don't want to change the css to make them look identical, I just want a regular report to work.

    I eventually found another post: APEX_UTIL.GET_BLOB was not found on this server
    In this post there is the suggestion of putting "dbms_lob.getlength("var")" after the date field in your select. So I changed my query to have it at the end, and now my format mask (DOWNLOAD:table_name:ATTACHED_FILE:FILE_ID::FILE_MIME_TYPE:FILE_NAME:::attachment:Download) works like a charm, in a classic report.
