Problem compiling intrinsic functions

I've recently had a new version of the sun fortran compiler installed by our IT people. However, I appear to be unable to use certain intrinsic functions in a particular manner. As an example the following code compiles and runs successfully, whilst the second example program fails to link:
program main
implicit none
PRINT*, ADJUSTL(" abc")
PRINT*, ADJUSTR("abc ")
PRINT*, SIGN(100.0,-1.0)
end program main
program main
implicit none
character(len=5) :: test
real :: neg = -1.0, ton = 100.0
test = "abc "
PRINT*, ADJUSTL(test)
PRINT*, ADJUSTR(test)
PRINT*, SIGN(ton,neg)
end program main
Has anyone come accross this before? Or is it possible to recreate the error? The error message I'm getting is:
Undefined first referenced
symbol in file
F90ADJUSTR_8 temp.o
F90ADJUSTL_8 temp.o
__f95_signf temp.o
ld: fatal: Symbol referencing errors. No output written to a.out
Any help appreciated. Thanks
Ric

It seems as though the compiler didn't install properly. Those functions are defined in libfsu. Try using the -v option when linking. You'll see a bunch of output, including something like this:
/usr/ccs/bin/ld -t -R/opt/SUNWspro/lib/v8plus:/opt/SUNWspro/lib:/opt/SUNWspro/lib/v8plus:/opt/SUNWspro/lib -o a.out /opt/SUNWspro/prod/lib/crti.o /opt/SUNWspro/prod/lib/crt1.o /opt/SUNWspro/prod/lib/misalign.o /opt/SUNWspro/prod/lib/values-xi.o -Y P,/opt/SUNWspro/lib/v8plus:/opt/SUNWspro/prod/lib/v8plus:/opt/SUNWspro/lib:/opt/SUNWspro/prod/lib:/usr/ccs/lib:/lib:/usr/lib foo.o -lfui -lfai -lfai2 -lfsumai -lfprodai -lfminlai -lfmaxlai -lfminvai -lfmaxvai -lfsu -lsunmath -Bdynamic -lmtsk -lm -lc /opt/SUNWspro/prod/lib/crtn.o
This link command includes a set of directories in which the linker should look for libraries (the "-Y P, " option). Look for libfsu.so in one of those directories. Given your symptoms, either you won't find it, or you'll find an old one that doesn't contain those functions.
Anyway, reinstalling is probably the best way to fix the problem.

  • Problems compiling Database functions into installer

    Hello,
    I am trying to build an installer for a test program I had written.  I am having issues with the Database functions, nothing is being written to the database, but stuff is being read back.  After I few tries I got fet up and included everything on the extra installers list, but it still does not correctly add the Connectivity functions (it was funny having a 1.6 GB installer though ).   The VI works fine before building it into an installer.
    What can I do to add SQL write functions into the installer?

  • Performance Problems with intrinsic array multiplikation in Fortran with Su

    Hello,
    I found a serious performance problem in my application with intrinsic array multiplikation. Therefore I wrote a small test program to check if this a general problem or only exists in my code.
    The test program (as seen below) was compiled with Sunstudio12 und Solaris 5.10 on an 64 bit Amd Opteron Machine. First with high optimization (f95 -fast -g), and the second time with out optimization (f95 -O0 -g). In both cases the intrinsic array mupltiplication had a lot of tlb and L2 cache misses (I made some test with the performance analyzer) which caused a huge increase in computation time compared to the explicit loop. In the ideal case the compiler should create the nested loops from the intrinsic statement and both functions should use exactly the same computing time.
    I also tried compiling with Studio11, the problem also occurs there. Maybe its a compiler bug but I'm not sure.
    Greetings
    Michael Kroeger
    program test
    !Test zur Ausfuehrung einer einfachen array Multiplikation
    implicit none
    real,dimension(:,:,:),pointer::check1,check2
    integer i,j,k,ni,nj,nk,status
    ni=1000
    nj=1000
    nk=100
    allocate(check1(0:ni,0:nj,0:nk),STAT=status)
    write(*,*)status
    allocate(check2(0:ni,0:nj,0:nk),STAT=status)
    write(*,*)status
    check1(i,j,k)=25
    check2(i,j,k)=25
    call intrinsic_f(check1)
    call withloop(check2,i,j,k)
    deallocate(check1,check2)
    contains
    subroutine intrinsic_f(check1)
    real, dimension(:,:,:),pointer::check1
    check1=check1*5
    end subroutine intrinsic_f
    subroutine withloop(check2,ni,nj,nk)
    real, dimension(:,:,:),pointer::check2
    integer i,j,k,nk,nj,ni
    do k=0,nk
    do j=0,nj
    do i=0,ni
    check2(i,j,k)=check2(i,j,k)*5
    enddo
    enddo
    enddo
    end subroutine withloop
    end program

    I will try the large pages, but what me puzzles is, that the intrinsic function has cache misses, but the loop function has not. All documentation says, that the compiler would expand the intrinsic function into 3 nested loops, so that both functions should be essential the same (and the compiler says it has created 3 loops from the intrinsic). Since they are not the same, this is a severe problem.
    I have a fairly large code for high performance simulations, and this intrinsic functions are a significant bottle neck. If it is not a compiler bug, I would have to rewrite all intrinsic functions into loops.

  • How can I compile all functions, procedures and packages with a script?

    I need to compile all functions, procedures and packages of 5 schemas (users) with a script.
    How can I do it?
    Thanks!

    you can create a script to select all invalid objects in those schemas Since Oracle 8 introduced NDS this approach has struck me as a trifle old fashioned. It's much simpler to loop round the query in PL/SQL and use EXECUTE IMMEDIATE to fire off the DDL statements. No scripts, no muss, no fuss.
    Having said that, the problem with this approach and also with using DBMS_UTILITY.COMPILE_SCHEMA is that they do not compile all the invalid objects in dependency order. This may result in programs being invalidated by the subsequent compilation of dependencies. This is due to the introduction of Java into the database.
    The UTLRP script is much better, because it (usually) avoids cyclic references. But you still may need to run it more than once.
    In general it is better to avoid sledgehammer recompilations (like DBMS_UTILITY.COMPILE_SCHEMA, which starts by invalidating all the objects). If we have twenty invalid objects, nineteen of which are dependencies of the twentieth, we actually only need to recompile the master object, as recompiling it will trigger the recompilation of all the others.

  • Trying to compile a function

    Hi,
    I'm trying to compile a function using Oracle Enterprise Manager but I can't. It's possible to do it? If so, how? Or if it's no possible, how can I do it?
    I created the function with Enterprise Manager and was OK. But now the problem is to execute the function if it's correctly compiled.
    Thanks.

    You should use paranthesis for your function if you have parameters.

  • Having problems compiling *.java with import javax.servlet.jsp......

    I've been trying to do the tutorials in a book titled Apache Jakarta-Tomcat as part of my introduction to JSP. I'm new to Java but do know the basics. I have on my machine Java 1.3, Java 1.4, Java FrameWorks 2.1 and Jython 2.1 on Win2000 Pro. So enough about my configuration. I have never worked with packages also.
    I downloaded the files from the books site due to the fact I make a lot of typos when hand coding Java (I've become a pretty good debugger of my own code). But everytime I go to compile the *.java I get error messages. So below you will find HelloTag.java and beneath that the error messages that are thrown when I try and compile it. I tested other bits of *.java and have had no problem compiling them. Is there a JSP module I'm missing?
    Am I doing something wrong or am I missing something from my configuration.

    Well, it looks like you've not got the servlet development kit JAR on your classpath. I think it'll probably be called servlet.jar on your system. Add that to the classpath if it's not already there.
    Incidentally, you've bumped into one of the areas Java's slightly lenient - declaring a method that looks like a constructor:
    public HelloTag() { }
    public void HelloTag() { }The first is a constructor, the second is a normal method. I'm assuming you intended to have the former instead of the latter.
    Anyway, hope this helps.

    This line activates the kernel's makefile in order to build modules, but specifies that the source directory for zaptel should be included in the make process.
    Then things go down the proverbial drain - linux/err_kernel_only.h gets included in the build process, which is designed to do one thing only - stop the build process. So I'm not entirely too sure what's going on here. Is there something misconfigured on my system, or is the Zaptel build system flawed somehow, such that I need to compensate for it?

    Further information:
    I've manually run the problematic make command from /lib/modules/2.6.17-ARCH/build on my own. After reading the kernel makefile documentation, I've learned of the V=1 flag to show me exactly what's going on. The failing command is this one:
    gcc -Wp,-MD,/home/cestus/zaptel/src/zaptel-1.2.8/.zaptel.o.d -nostdinc -isystem /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu/4.1.1/include -D__
    KERNEL__ -Iinclude -include include/linux/autoconf.h -Wall -Wundef -Wstrict-prototypes -Wno-trigraphs -fno-strict-aliasing -fno-common -O2
    -fomit-frame-pointer -m64 -mno-red-zone -mcmodel=kernel -pipe -fno-reorder-blocks -Wno-sign-compare -fno-asynchronous-unwind-tables -fun
    it-at-a-time -mno-sse -mno-mmx -mno-sse2 -mno-3dnow -Wdeclaration-after-statement -Wno-pointer-sign -I. -Iinclude -O4 -g -Wall -DBUILDING_T
    ONEZONE -m64 -DSTANDALONE_ZAPATA -DZAPTEL_CONFIG="/etc/zaptel.conf" -DHOTPLUG_FIRMWARE -I/home/cestus/zaptel/src/zaptel-1.2.8//include
    -I/home/cestus/zaptel/src/zaptel-1.2.8//include/oct6100api -DMODULE -D"KBUILD_STR(s)=#s" -D"KBUILD_BASENAME=KBUILD_STR(zaptel)" -D"KBUIL
    D_MODNAME=KBUILD_STR(zaptel)" -c -o /home/cestus/zaptel/src/zaptel-1.2.8/zaptel.o /home/cestus/zaptel/src/zaptel-1.2.8/zaptel.c
    I've figured out that the bit which causes the failure is "-include include/linux/autoconf.h", because autoconf.h just includes the "err_kernel_only" header automatically, which then slays the build process. And I've also discovered that the Zaptel devs are uber-leet. They've found the magical -O4 level in gcc. You know, the one above 3, where the supported optimization levels in gcc are -O, -Os, -O2 and -O3

  • Problem using two function based indexes at once!

    Hello Oracle!
    I've got problems using two function based indexes on geometries at once.
    The problem occures, when I use a spatial join between two geometries both using function based indexes.
    The test case:
    CREATE TABLE quad (centroid NUMBER);
    CREATE TABLE points (no NUMBER, point MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY);
    CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION getQuad (centroid NUMBER) RETURN MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY DETERMINISTIC IS
    BEGIN
    RETURN MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY(2003, NULL, NULL, MDSYS.SDO_ELEM_INFO_ARRAY(1,1003,1),MDSYS.SDO_ORDINATE_ARRAY(centroid-5,centroid-5,centroid+5,centroid-5,centroid+5,centroid+5,centroid-5,centroid+5,centroid-5,centroid-5));
    END;
    INSERT INTO USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA VALUES('quad','tiedge.getQuad(centroid)',MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ARRAY(MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ELEMENT('X', -100, 100, .0000001), MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ELEMENT('Y', -100, 100, .0000001)),NULL);
    CREATE INDEX quad_idx on quad(getQuad(centroid)) INDEXTYPE IS MDSYS.SPATIAL_INDEX;
    INSERT INTO quad VALUES (0);
    INSERT INTO quad VALUES (5);
    INSERT INTO quad VALUES (10);
    INSERT INTO points VALUES (1, MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY(1001,NULL,NULL,MDSYS.SDO_ELEM_INFO_ARRAY(1,1,1),MDSYS.SDO_ORDINATE_ARRAY(4,4)));

    hi there,
    For a better audience for this question, I'd look at the database forum.
    guys on that will be a lot more familiar with FBIs

  • Problem using LIKE function

    Hi Guyz,
    I am having small problem using LIKE function . The problem is I am using LIKE function in the WHERE clause
    to compare a column to a particular value, which gets this value from the front end. If the user has a single quote in the string he entered then the LIKE function is not working because of the single quote. Is there any way I can escape the single quote like we escape '%' and '_'.
    Thankyou.

    Mod_plsql supports bind variables, as do almost all front-end tools that deal with Oracle (and most other databases). I do not code mod pl/sql myself, but others here do, and I see bind variables in their code all the time (if I don't, they hear from me :-)).
    If you pass a bind variable, the quote problem goes away. As far as I know (which is not very far), you should be able to take the string with the quote directly from your input field, bind it to the variable in your query and have no problems.
    I suspect that the reson you are having issues is that you are just gluing strings together to create a sql statement. this is the wrong approach.
    The java term for what you are looking for is prepared statement, I'm not sure what the equivalent is i mod plsql, but that should give you a start.

    Hello !
    I hava got a problem on renameTo function. I can rename the short file name (for example: REPORT.TXT to REPORT.ERR), but I can't rename the long file name (for example: XXX_REPORT_20040125.TXT to XXX_REPORT_20040125.ERR). The following codes I have been used :
