Problem display item

I'm populating a display item using a from a post_query trigger using the following statement. It works if there is an item. However if there is not i get the following error FRM-40735: POST-QUERY trigger raised unhandled exception ORA-0403. Can anyone tell me how to work around this if i have no data for this item

you need to add an exception section and catch the no_data_found exception and do something there.

Problems displaying rtf memo fields

We use Crystal Reports X to run reports on an Access database with a significant number of rtf memo fields. We use Total Access Memo to allow extended use of rtf within Access as our users require the additional formatting capabilities that this offers.
However, there are considerable problems displaying items like bullet points, tables and hyperlinks in the Crystal Viewer with tables in particular coming out in a real mess with all entries in the table being displayed in a list with a small square marking each cell at the end of each line.
Curiously, if you preview the report in the full version of Crystal X, it appears a bit better with the hyperlinks still underlined (bullet points still vanish) and rows in rtf tables are at least presented as a row even if the columns are not ordered and mixed (with no bounding cells visible).
Firstly, is this disparity of end result between full Crystal X Print Preview and the Crystal X Viewer fixable?
Secondly, is the limited handling of rtf tags likely to be solved in the next release of Crystal?

If I caught you correctly, you want to display data in Adobe forms in form of tabel, right?
So, follow the steps:
1. Insert one sub form on your adobe form.
2. Set its type as "flow content" in object->subform property.
3. Set flow direction as "Table".
4. Insert another subform inside this subform.
5. set its type as "flow content" and flow direction as "Table row".
6. Now, choose binding tab, and there check "repeat subform for each Data item check box" and specify min. count for your rows.
7. Now, insert your column fields inside this sub form once.
8. Format its look and feel as you want.
When you run this application, it will show you multiple data as table on Adobe form.

Master/Detail problem: Infinite loop with display items

Hi,
I have a strange problem in Oracle Forms 6.0.5.35.3. I create a master block and a detail block with correct relationship between them.
-> When the detail block contains at least one 'Text Item' everything works well.
-> When the detail block only contains 'Display Items', the form is looping
indefinitely calling ON-POPULATE_DETAILS and QUERY-MASTER-DETAILS...
Is it a known bug ?
Do you know a trick to avoid this behaviour ?
Is it corrected with latest versions of forms, I mean 6i ?

I think a block should have at least one navigable item. Just disable the insert/update property, but enable the navigable property for an item in the detail block.

Problem with building conditional display items

Dear All,
Please help as I am using APEX for the first time.
This my requirement during form dispaly in tabular format. There is one display item QA_TIER(not a database item). This item value is computed based on the condition below.
I created a display item with :
Source Used : Always, replacing any existing value in the session state
Source Type: PL/SQL Expression or Function
Source value or expression:

Portlet Item Attr: "Link That Displays Item in New Browser Window"

I have been searching the forums for a similar experience, but haven't found anything quite like this:
I have a couple of portlets. One is a Discoverer Portlet, the other is something more basic: The "Developer News" portlet from the 9iAS Community portlet provider.
After defining the portlets and looking at them, I edit the page and click the Edit button (little pencil) to edit the attributes.
There are radio buttons for Display Options.
One option is: "Link that Displays Item in New Browser Window."
When I select this, OK, and then go back to the page, **the portlet doesn't show at all any more! There is no link, no nothing. Note that I have defined a Display Name, which should be the text for the link.
It would seem that this feature flat out doesn't work.
This technique for a popup works fine for an "Item" defined in an item region.
Anyone?

Yes -- I did do that after reading an article on metalink about such issues.
This actually changes the problem.
When I add the "Display name and image link" attribute to the region, I now do get a link.
However, clicking it brings up an undefined Discoverer portlet.
It works great for non-Disco portlets. For instance, I was able to pop up the "Developer News" portlet from the Oracle 9iAS Community portlet provider.
I think the problem is that the link that Disco produces does not provide enough information to bring up the particular portlet. For instance, the URL does not have the workbook name, the worksheet name, the parameter values, etc.
If anyone uses Disco w/ the portal, I would be curious to hear if anyone can reproduce this apparent bug / limitation.

Displaying items in a single line in ALV grid using ALV_TOP_OF_PAGE.

I am having a problem in displaying items in a single line in the ALV Grid using event ALV_TOP_OF_PAGE.
My requirement is to group items on a single line i.e. in the example below, Vendor code and posting date are on the same line. The next line the prints Vendor Name and Document no.
Vendor Code: 123123                               Posting Date : 01.01.2011
Vendor Name: ABCD                                 Document No: 152246598.
Here is my code in subroutine 'ALV_TOP_OF_PAGE',
wa_list_comments-typ = 'S'.
wa_list_comments-key = ''.
wa_list_comments-info = 'Vendor Code'.
APPEND wa_list_comments TO it_list_comments.
wa_list_comments-typ = 'S'.
wa_list_comments-key = ''.
wa_list_comments-info = 'Posting Date'.
APPEND wa_list_comments TO it_list_comments.
The above code prints in the following format i.e one below the other,
Vendor Code: 123123
Posting Date : 01.01.2011.
I also tried using HTML_TOP_OF_PAGE, but it didn't work.
Can anybody please help me out with this.

Your problem is with the alignment and you need some fix positions .
The solution i feel is u can use as below :

Multi-Line Display Item

I need to populate a multi-line display item in Forms 6i.
The problem that I am having is the actual assignment to the display item.
For example:
:DISPLAY_ITEM := '10';
:DISPLAY_ITEM := '11';
This makes the display item show the value '11' only.
I need '10' on the first line and '11' on the second line, etc.

well, you can write:
go_block('BL_BLK');
first_record;
:display_item:=10;
next_record;
:display_item:=11;
but for this- 1. block should have one navigable item. 2. display_item should not be the first item of the block.
Otherwise you will need to create a non-databse text_item with width 0 on the canvas for that block.

Problem displaying picture stored in mySQL

Hi, i just have got problem displaying picture stored in database as BLOB and presented on JSP over servlet. Below is my code i am using to upload file into database, than download it and display again. The result is the picture can not draw inself and there is always only empty picture space on the web page i am displaying. Please help me to find why it is not working, thanx.

Problem Displaying Value of LOV

I have a drop down on one of my edit screens that gives a list of Regions. On the screen the user can select the correct value and click Apply Changes and the database gets updated. The problem is that if I click to edit that record again it shows thate field as NULL. It will not display the value.
The data is correct in the database but I cannot see it on the edit screen. I have APEX 3.2

It's a pretty straight forward sql and the list of values does appear when creating the item.... but I have a read only condition on this field so it is read only once the record has been created as the user is not allowed to change the value on update. I just tried changing the Read Only "display item normally" and now it works. So looks like the issue is trying to make the field display/read only once the value is set.
one solution that comes to my mind is to have two fields on the page... the POP LOV display only when the P5_LE_LOC_ID is null, then have a read only text field that displays when P5_LE_LOC_ID is not null... but seems silly to have to do this

Populate multi record display item

Hellou gurus!
I have forms 10g and i need to populate display item in enter query mode. My problem is that I have table T1 with some static values. Table T2 is through ID connected (reference) to table T1 1:1 cardinality and T2 table also have reference to T3 table.
I have block B2 based on table T2 and in this block I have multirecord item for inserting and updating new values for T2, but in this block ii also have no DB, multi record display item (because i don't want to allow editting in T1 table records) for diplaying static values for table T1. I want to display all static values from T1 next to the editable values in T2 (T2 multi record field is not insert yet). I tried for loop, select into but it not work. T1 values need to be selected before I started to inserting values into T2 items, but off course they need to be referenced It is hard to explain but i belive you understand.
Can you help me how I can populate multi record item??

Question about Display Item,pleas help

My problem is that i cannot make my display item to be a display item.
In properties i selected display item but it still looks like text item.

Display Item cleared when using 'Enter-Query'

Hi all,
i am going to develop a multilanguage application with very
special heading texts using display items for these headings.
BUT- if I press EnterQuery, they are cleared also.
How can I restrict cleanup of these display items used as
headings ?
I was looking in the properties, but no idea.

I'm showing how to do it when switching modes. I'm
not suggesting this is the best way to do a query.We need to look at this in the context of the original probelm in the thread linked to above. For most cases the when-timer-expired etc is just a huge detour around using the pre-query trigger but it's an interesting approach to the specific problem in the earlier thread. The OP there wanted to be able to type '>5000' into a number field in a non-database block, which we can do in a database block in enter-query mode, and use it as a query parameter in the database block. Perhaps if we enter this into a character field in the non-database block and populate the numeric field in the database block whilst in enter-query mode then we can do searches on ranges of data? Unfortunately it doesn't work - you get an ora-06502 error just like you do when using the pre-query trigger. For the situation in the original thread you would have to use a 'default where'.

Forms Developer 4.5 - Bring display item to front at runtime

I have 10 square display items lined 2x5 to represent a rectangle shape on my form. The individual display items represent 10 positions on a pallet. Other display items are then used to represent an item that needs to placed onto a position on a pallet so affectivly your dragging a display item ontop of another display item.
My problem: It lets you drag the item onto it however it will not allow you to drag it back off. Even though it looks like your selecting the top item that is in focus, forms thinks your draggin the square behind it? How can I change the focus of display items at runtime?

Hi, unforunately the company I work for do not upgrade systems it would seem. The system is an old VAX running Oracle 7, the users interface to this is that old version of forms. I have successfully create one drag and drop interface for our users to make changes to the database however this one has different specification and in order for it to work I need to be able to place one display item on top of another. I have worked out how to do this and it works in a fashion however when dragged on top of the other display item it then disappears behind it. I need to bring it to the front at runtime... Any ideas?

Convert Display Item to LOV

We have an application made with Developper 2000. In a block
associated to a view I have 4 display items. When leaving the
result of a query (made with a previous block) they leave me too
many registrations for what takes a long time a lot to arrive to
the registrations of the end when using the scroll bar. As I can
convert one of the items (is a Display Item) in a LOV to get
directly to the selected registration?

I am working on a solution that consists to send an image from a BLOB column to a Java Bean through Forms via the Set_Custom_Property().
Unfortunately, I encounter a strange problem. 5 characters are bad interpreted, so the final image is totaly ugly.
I get the chunk of image like this:

Backgroung color of displayed item

Hi,
I want to set the backround of an item accordig to its canvas background.
I was trying:
canvas_color .= := get_canvas_property('CANVAS_NAME, background_color);
set_item_property('BLOCK.ITEM_NAME', background_color, canvas_color);
This does'nt work successfuly as canvas background property is set to <default>, and get_canvas_property returns is null
Do you have any suggestions of how to overcome this problem?
I don't want to solve this problem by assigning a real rgb value (as mentioned eg in background color of display item )

1.You have to create a VISUAL_ATTRIBUTE and define the
background color
2.Use this little example.
