Problem exporting project to WMV movie format

When I try to export my CS3 Premiere Pro projects - through Adobe Media Encoder - to the wmv-format the result is corrupt at least 9 out of 10 times.
When trying the first rendering pass seems to work fine and the second works fine untill it is allmost finished. In the very end I get a 'yellow triangel with an exclamation mark' error in the right corner of the Windows procesline. When I click on it, it disapears.
The file created is corrupt and will not play in Windows Media player. And the problems is not known according to Microsoft (clicking on the error message in Windows Media Player).
The strange thing is, that the process has worked perfect a few times but failed many more times. I have tried with several projects from very simple to more complex. And I have done it working on my Thinkpad T61 and a stationary Compaq pc. Same negative result.
Trying to export to FLV-format seems to work perfect, but I cannot verify this because I do not have Flash Player on my pc's (and cannot install since they are locked business pc's).
The input video comes from a Canon XH A1 camcorder.
What can possibly be wrong?
Best regards
Henrik Trojaborg

Jim: I have tried 1 pass only - without succes (same problem) ;-(
Sigurd Bo: I can see, that your solution works fine. And I will do either that or find/build a flash player, which I can use (for commercial use). But I very much want to solve the initial problem. Since Premiere Pro supports exporting to wmv, it must be possible...
Thanks and best regards.
Henrik

I downloaded an HD movie onto my laptop from i-tunes.  It plays fine on my laptop, but when I plug in my HD projector, the movie quits.  When I unplug the projector, the movie starts again. I have never had a problem with projecting an itunes movie before this. Someone told me that i-tunes changed something so that movies can no longer be projected.  We have a home theatre and have watched movies this way quite regularly, so it would be a drag if Apple will prevent us from doing this in the future.

I don’t know about projection, but I’m unable to watch HD content in iTunes because my Apple 30-inch Cinema Display is not HDCP-compliant (which is part of an HD copy-protection scheme).
The other movies you’ve projected, were they HD as well? If not, it could be the same problem: your projector is not HDCP-compliant.

  • Exporting Final Cut Pro Project to .wmv file format

I am a new apple owner and I am doing some editing on FCP. I would like to export my final project to a .wmv file format.
    What would you recommend?

Autodesk Cleaner's codecs haven't really been updated in a long time. At $599.00, its a lot to spend for old technology - as for their WMV encoding, they use the WMV 7 codec.
The flip4mac and Popwire programs do a much better job and are more compatible with newer versions of Windows Media Player.
Or, as David Bogie Chq-1 said, you can use the free Windows Media Encoder from Microsoft if you have a Windows system.

  • Problem exporting to mpeg-2 DVD format from Premiere Pro CSF

I just purchased Premiere Pro CS5 and have been going through the video tutorials on Lynda.com.  I have created a short video sequence and am trying to export it to mpeg-2 DVD format using the default "MainConcept MPEG Video" codec.  After the video is exported to my hard drive and imported into Encore, I see all of these green lines and green shading in the video I just created in Premiere that wasn't there when I rendered my sequence in Premiere prior to export.  Does anyone know why these green lines and shading are added to the video?  I figure I must be using the wrong export settings in Premiere Pro.
I've also tried to export this video segment to Quicktime .mov format using the default DV25 NTSC codec, but when I do this the final exported video has audio only and the video is black (I made sure there was a check in the Export Video check box).
I have a Macbook with 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM and Max OS X version 10.6.3 (Snow Leopard) with all appropriate updates.  Does anyone have any ideas on how to address this issue or where I can read up on appropriate combinations of video formats and codecs?

Hi, thanks for the answer.  Yes, I just tried importing the Premiere project directly into Encore using the dynamic link function and it worked just fine.  Once I made some changes to the to the Premiere project; however, the green lines appeared when i would preview the project in Encore.  Based on your feedback, I won't worry about the extra green lines though and will attempt to build another DVD.  Like you said, I think the key is to import the Premiere project into Encore using the dynamic linking.

  • Quick Time Pro - Problem Exporting AVI files to .mov

Hi all, Here is the problem that has been plaguing me and driving me crazy. hopefully somebody can help me with this.
I use pinnacle studio 8 to create the avi file, the resulting file size is 1.02GB. Everything works fine in this file audio and video
Next I use quicktime pro to convert the file to a .mov format and compress the video down. This is where the problem starts. when I try and export the avi to a .mov, the options screen doesn't allow me to select the audio, it says its not there. I can modify all the settings for the video, but it doesn't even recognize the audio.
It has been doing this for all of my avi videos that are over a gig. It also does this when I try and export an mpeg to a .mov
also if I do go ahead and export to a .mov file, it compresses the videos down to around 5 to 7mb, where as all my videos that are exported to .mov that do have sound are roughly 20+mb
Anybody know whats going on? I'm going nuts trying to figure this out.

Sounds like your AVI isn't really a two track file (audio and video) but rather a muxed MPEG-1 file.
QuickTime Pro can't extract audio from muxed file formats and that is why it shows no sound options during export.
MPEG Streamclip (free) can export MPEG-1 to QuickTime formats and extract the audio.

  • Exporting  to .avi or .mov format

How can I export and iMovie to a .avi or .mov format? For use by others with PC's , etc.

both, avi and mov are no formats, just containers, some say wrappers...
in the share/expert settings dialog, you're offerd with zillions of options...
PC users need to install the latest version of QuicktimeForWindows, free for download at apple.com...
avi is little supported on Mac... old school & wrong side of the street..
think about investing into some plug-ins from www.flip4mac.com …
form a users point of view, I collected some info on a website: CODEXX

  • Problem Exporting.. (WMV FORMAT)

    Can anyone help?
I am new to Final Cut Pro 6 and I have just finished my first video for my company that we plan to put on our website. The video uses 4 Video Tracks and 5 Audio Tracks. Currently I have the the video finalized and save in final cut pro. I would like to export the video to a wmv format (what the 3rd party video host is asking for) at 300 kb/sec rate.
    When I go to File>Export>Using Quicktime Conversion>
and change the format to WINDOWS MEDIA and hit save.. I get an error stop sign with an exclamation point saying 'Inconsistent Audio Sample Rate-- The media you are exporting contains audio with multiple sample rate'
What do I need to do to correct this so I can export it as a wmv?
Whoever can help thank you I am very VERY frustrated and need to get this done.
    Victoria
    Any help is appreciated.
Please email me too at [email protected]

I had this problem and it is a bug in the Flip4Mac program. They did fix the bug. You have to download a patch from Flip4Mac's web site. here is the e-mail they sent me:
    Dear Customer:
The recent release of QuickTime 7.2 created an audio compression error for Flip4Mac WMV Studio, Studio Pro and Studio Pro HD customers. Specifically, when encoding WMV files with Flip4Mac WMV v.2.1.2 using uncompressed audio sources on QuickTime 7.2 systems, customers were receiving "Inconsistent Audio Sample Rate" error and the encode will fail. This problem has been resolved with the beta release of Flip4Mac WMV v2.1.33. If you are using QuickTime 7.2, please upgrade to this release at http://www.flip4mac.com/wmv_beta.htm.
If you have any questions, please email us at [email protected]
    Thank you for your patience.

  • Problem exporting AVI to WMV in Quicktime.

So I am putting together a powerpoint presentation for school but they have Vista computers, and my quicktime movie files and AVI files will not work because the school does not have quicktime on its computers. The only exported file through Quicktime that has worked is a WMV. However, somehow through the exportation process, the last half of the video gets cut off between being an AVI and going to a WMV.
What can I do to fix this?

Okay QuicktimeKirk. I found the problem, just not how to solve it. I looked through the guide and everything and nothing makes sense and i need these videos for a presentation tomorrow so I'm freaking out a little.
Here's the deal, I am on my vid, here are my steps:
    File>Export
Next to the Export dialog box, I pick Options...
On this page, the top says Flip4Mac Export Settings - Demo Version.
So, you were right, the problem is I have the demo version. But how do I change this page to go from Flip4Mac Export Settings - Demo Version TO Flip4Mac Studio Export Settings?
I downloaded everything to my computer, entered the serial number, and installed everything.
What is the next step to fix this mess?

  • Problem exporting .pdf to ANY OTHER FORMAT - is it me?!

    Hello,
The seasoned tech person will surely roll their eyes a dozen times while reading about my odyssey...
It started as a project in Pagemaker 7 (I know, I know - I'll definitely be moving to InDesign CS4 after this!). I exported the .pmd file into .pdf and sent the .pdf to a committee for review. When the edits came back, I planned to open my PageMaker files and edit them, then reexport. Well, wouldn't you know I HAVE NO IDEA where I put the most recently edited .pmd files. This is nuts - as I am pretty religious about saving/backing up to at least one device other than my PC. (Note: I checked the last time I sent the draft out and it was 5:15pm on a Thursday, so I must have been in a mad dash to get to happy hour and just got careless...My fault.) Anyway, so now I am stuck with a stupid .pdf and OLD .pmd files.
So, my questions are as follows:
    1. There is no way I can convert a .pdf into a .pmd file is there? I've looked into this and it really doesn't seem so.  Would it then be possible to convert a .pdf into an InDesign file?  Probably not, huh?
    2. Ok, so seeing how I am probably stuck with the .pdf - - I thought I might be able to export it as an .rtf so I could copy and paste the most recent text into my .pmd file so I don't have to do a ton of re-edits.  Brilliant, I thought. You've found a solution!  Um, not so much...
Now I can't export the .pdf as ANYTHING - .rtf, .html, .txt, .doc - - - it all turns into symbols. It tells me that Frankin Gothic Book can't be found and then it lists several numbers after the font (eg: Franklin Gothic Book 11,15,23, etc, etc...).
But I have that font installed on all the programs I use! What is going on! Can anyone help me??
    Thanks so much!
    kate

    Hi! Thanks for your answer!
    Well...
    1. If it were up to me I'd just keep it in the editing software until a final product was ready but I had to send .pdf versions out to people who don't use PageMaker. It was just my own haste that probably led me to send the .pdf out (after 5pm), shut down my PC asap and run off to the bar (or at least that's how I imagine it happened...).  As a rule I back EVERYTHING up to my external or a thumb drive ALWAYS. Evidently not anymore.  Or maybe I just fail to back up the IMPORTANT documents. Arrrgh.
    2. And yes, I checked my work PC, both laptops, my flash drive and external thoroughly and could not find it. I was able to see, in the "Recent Documents' option under the 'File' tab in PageMaker (both at work and on my laptop, weird..) that I had used the files there but when I thought, "OMG YES!!!" and clicked on it, it replied that the file could not be found.
So yeah... Meanwhile, I've found what I hope is a way around my conundrum.  Unable to export the .pdf to .doc or .rtf so I can cut and paste that version into an older version of the .pmd files I've LOST (Franklin Gothic is acting like a JERK... not sure what's going on there...) I downloaded a free .pdf to .rtf converter that didn't have a problem with it.
And so I spend a beautiful afternoon cloistered inside, fixing my stupid mistakes.
Thanks so much for your insights - I really appreciate your help!
    Thanks!

  • Can you export slideshows other than .mov format?

I created a slideshow and would like to play it on my PS3, on the higest resolution possible. PS3 does not recognize quicktime movies, so I am trying to save it as an MP4. The option seems to be there when I save the file, even in custom export. There is a field that says "export movie to/as MP4". When the export is done, the file is still a quicktime movie! Anyhelp is greatly appreciated.

In the export drop down there is a Custom option and you can explore the many, many options under that heading.
There is no right answer that anyone can give you from here as there are far too many variables: The quality of the original photos, the quality of the playback engine on your PS3, the screen you are displaying on etc etc.

  • I exported a video in .MOV format at 1920x1080p 29.97fps and even though the video file still says it has the dimensions of 1920x1080, it plays back in squished, standard definition. Why is it doing that?

I don't understand why the video playback is squishing when the .mov file's dimensions are the right aspect ratio. When I exported with the codec .h264, the video played back the way it was supposed to, with HD/16:9 dimensions. Why is the .mov file not exporting/playing back properly?

  • Problem sharing to WMV-9 format stops at 2.5 megs..

I'm trying to share/export to the wmv-9 format thru IMovie, and it starts to save the file to disk, but stops at around 2-3 megs of data. Can anyone tell me why? Do I have to upgrade to Quicktime PRO to send a whole movie as that format? I"m running my IMac G5 2ghz with plenty of drive space and 512 memory.
After it stops, I can view the movie in the wmv format, but just only the saved portion...help!

Had to purchase a key to use the WMv-9 export component, it only was in demo mode for 20 second use..problem solved.

  • I exported audio successfully to movie, but upon uploading movie, it loses audio

I had no problem exporting the audio to movie in Logic (9), it works great in Finder and when I open the movie in Quicktime. But when I upload the movie to Dropbox, it loses the audio I added. Anyone else have this problem? I don't know if it's just dropbox, I can't imagine that's where the problem is.

I also just tried putting it on a thumb drive and watching on another computer, and the audio didn't show up there either.

  • Problem converting WMV movie file to format Adobe After Effects can read...

    Need HELP...
Trying to convert a windows WMV movie clip so that Adobe After Effects can read, as the Mac OSX version of After Effects does not like WMV.
    Any help appreciated.

i'm with the Captain's answer, Flip4Mac's Windows Media Components will allow you to work with the files directly in AE or other QT compliant application
but whilst the free player version will allow you to view the files, you'll need to pony up for at least the Player Pro version if you intend to transcode to another format (otherwise the copy will have a Flip4Mac watermark)

    Hello
I use the Final Cut Version ProHd for editing my videos but I'm having problems when exporting the final project.
The file is exported in the .mov format but I need it exported as AVI type 1 since it is going to be played in a PC.
If I export it as a regular AVI, it comes out without sound.
Anybody knows of a plugin that could solve my problem or another way to solve this situation?
    Thanks
