File Uploader Java Applet cannot be run
I have a website that I need to upload PDFs to, but since ugrading to Lion, I cannot do it any more. I have downloaded the separte Java app, but it still does not work.
This is the error message I get:
File Uploader Java Applet cannot be run. Make sure that Java is installed on your PC and Java applets are permitted in browser settings. Use this link to download and install appropriate version of Java:Thank you etresoft - that did not solve the problem. However, I did fix it by changing something in Java Preferences (which is located in the Utilities Folder).
I first deleted the cache files as you suggested in the Network tab. Then I quit and restarted Firefox. I still got the same error message when I tried to upload.
Then, I went back into Java Preferences and checked the box, "Enable Appplet Plug-in and Webstart Applications" located in the General Tab. I then quit and restarted Firefox. Now I am able to upload documents as I could before Lion.
Thank you!! -
Hi !
I am trying to print using a java applet using the printable interface.I am using jdk1.3.1 and OS
is windows 2000 or windows NT.
I'm imporing the following packages.
import java.awt.*;
import java.awt.event.*;
import java.applet.*;
import java.net.*;
import java.awt.print.*;
import java.awt.image.*;
import java.awt.geom.*;
public class image_applet extends Applet implements Printable
The problem is that this requires java runtime environment1.4.01 as default plugin in the client
and works only in higher versions of IE(5.5 and above ) and does not work in netscape.
I would really appreciate if anyone tells me how to make this work in all the client browsers,
without having to worry about the plugin.
Bye,
SudhakapI too am havin the same problem
Using the print option of the browswer gives results which arent constant with all browsers and
if i dont implement Printable then the Applet hangs wihtout printing

Displaying java applet using webseal authentication
Hi all,
i'm facing a problem about displaying Java applet using Webseal junction for accessing an application Server based on Websphere.
I've defined a webseal ACL on accessing a http url that contains link to Java applet: after webseal authentication, the homepage is loaded; in the home page are presented links to java applet, but when I try to load these applets, it seems not working.
If I load the same applets without Webseal authentication, it seems working.
Is there any sort of configuration to make for applet regarding Webseal?
Thanks in advance

Java applet using the Swing API
write a Java applet using the Swing API to manage a PC repair shop. When a PC is brought in for repair, a member of staff will use this applet to log it into the system as a repair job. They will also be able to use the applet to manage the job e.g. allocate a person to carry out the repair and enter costs.
You must not use a tool such as JBuilder to generate Java code. If you use code from elsewhere e.g. a text book, you must highlight the code and state the reference clearly and include a photocopy of the relevant pages from the text book or other source.
You should hard-code some initial data into your applet. You should not store any data in a file or database.
Level of functionality you should attempt to implement:
Level 1  Your applet should:
a. As a minimum, your program should store (in memory) at least 10 repair jobs. For each repair job, you need to store:
 The name and phone number of the customer bringing the PC in for repair;
 A brief textual description of the problem;
 Whether the PC is under warranty or not.
b. Your program must allocate and display a unique number for the job once it is accepted.
c. The user must be able to view the details of jobs. They should be able to select either:
 All the jobs in the system; or
 Jobs being carried out under warranty.
Level 2 Your applet must meet the requirements for level 1. In addition it should:
a. You should carry out appropriate validation checks on input data e.g. the phone number contains all digits.
b. System should cope with an unlimited number of jobs.
c. The user should be able to select a job and then allocate a repairer to that job.
d. The user should be able to display a list of jobs for each repairer.
Level 3 - Your applet must meet the requirements for level 1 and 2. In addition it should allow the user to:
a. Select a job and input the cost of repair for:
 the number of hours labour;
 parts.
b. Select a job and present the user with a cost for the labour (hard code an hourly labour cost) and parts, plus a total for that job. For jobs under warranty the total will be zero, however the cost of labour and parts will be shown.
c. Be able to inform the business of the total expected income from the all the jobs in the system that are not under warranty.
Level 4 Your applet must meet the requirements for level 1 to 3. In addition:
a. The user should be able to enter a job priority which can be identified as high, medium or low.
b. Each repairer should be able to view a list of their jobs in order of priority.Done, what next ?

Problem Exporting for Web files created in FCE using Quicktime
I have been using FCE 4.01 on Mac OSX 10.7.5 with Quicktime 10.1 (501.29).
I convert my footage in Mpeg Streamclip (GREAT free program) and set the files to the Apple Intermediate Codec. This makes them work really well in my timeline and I don't have rendering issues or problems.
So, my problem comes when I File/Export/Quictime Movie.
The original file plays fine, but they're 2-3 gbs each, so I put them into Quicktime to convert them to a webfriendly size, but every single time they come out as an audio only file. GRRRR!
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Maybe I'm missing something stupid.
Thanks so much for your help.
Sincerely,
SteveWhy not bring the exported AIC file back into MPEG Streamclip instead of QTX? You'll have a lot more control.
Compress the file to H.264 and restrict the data rate according to the resolution you're working with and to something consistent with the guidelines of the Web Service (say, You Tube) you're uploading to, (For example, something like 6 Mb per second would be about right for a 720P file.)
Or use Quicktime Conversion from FCE.
Good luck.

<param name="img1" value="bgImgFinal.jpg">
<param name="img2" value="Block_Tower2.gif">

</body>
</html>However every time i try to run the program i get the following error when i open the java console.
java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.io.FilePermission Images\Player_Left3.gif read)
at java.security.AccessControlContext.checkPermission(Unknown Source)
at java.security.AccessController.checkPermission(Unknown Source)
Obviously, the applet is not letting me read the image files. By the way, the .class files and the image files are all in same directory. So can anyone help me please?Unfortunately, yes--I've tried it that way over and over, and every other way I could think of. The files are all in one folder, and I've converted the raw files to both tiffs and jpegs. I even tried converting them to jpegs at the final pixel dimensions. Each folder that I have used only contains one type of file, and they are all part of the same sequence and sequentially numbered. I have even tried renumbering the files with numbers first, numbers last, numbers only, moving underscores. I moved the files from my external hard-drive to the desktop ... I have a lot less hair than I had only a few days ago!
I've looked at a few other tutorials that outline the same sequence of steps, and tried them over and over, and then changing one step at a time to make sure that it was not a single step that caused the problem.
The thing that is really bugging me is that it works fine if I use the different approach of using the place command instead.
Anyway, thanks for all of your time. It's going to be a lot simpler to just stick with 'place' command and I will likely do that, but I tend take things like this as a challenge. I like to know WHY it won't work for me. Sometimes it seems that there is just no logical explanation!

How to display a .exe file in java applets by avoiding the file downloadbox
Hi sir,
I know that in order to display a any file(or)program in java applets you need to use showDocument().Where you cannot use exec() in java applets.
My problem is that when i use showDocument() to display .exe file.It is showing a file download dialog box.If we click & open only it is opening that .exe file.Here i want to open the .exe file without showing that file download dialog box in java applets.
Since,i am undergoing a project which involves it,it is quite urgent.pls.do provide the exact code in java applet without showing that file download dialog box.If it can't be done pls. do provide any other possibilities in order to be displayed on the browser.Thank U.
Regards,
m.ananthuHi!
I think you it's better to write a server socket program
in server and open a socket connection to server socket then
send exe file content via connection.
(I guess you know applets only have permission to open socket connection to their code base)

Read, Write and create files from java applet.
Dear All,
I have created a two files. One is applet and one application file. I am creating a instance of application file in applet. Application file is used for reading, writing and creating files. When I invoke applet from broser it dipslays error wrt file access permission. From the forum search I know that we need to sign the applet / edit the java policy to run the code locally. Final delivery of my code should execute on different system. Its not web. I have created a html page on submitting the form it invokes applet to read the form values from param and needs to update the values in xml file located locally. Please help me on how I can proceed with this fix.
Thanks in advance.Sorry if I have not stated the problem clearly. I need to update content to files hosted in local system using java applets.
I belive there are two ways to achive that.One with jar signer and one with modifying the java policy file. But this application needs to be installed in different system locally as I have created a application with webpage as useinterface and need to update the content in local files on submission. Not sure on how to modify the java.policy files in each end user system and whats the value we need to update in java policy file. Please help me on the steps to be followed -

waiting for your replyCheck SAP Note 821267 - FAQ: XI 3.0 / PI 7.0/ PI 7.1 File Adapter.
I guess point 8 might relate to your problem if the FTP adapter timeout occurs.
check the note 849089 as well.
Also check point 13 and 26.

Can I save as pdf when printing from a Java applet on a webpage in Safari?
I am trying to use a webpage that is running a Java applet. A dialog comes up that asks me, "Do you want to run this application?" The dialog also says, "This application will run with limited access that is intended to protect your computer and personal information." I select "Run". The applet generates an image I want to print. There is a "Print" button on the applet. I select "Print". A Security Warning dialog comes up that says, "The applet has requested access to the printer. Do you want to allow this action?" I select "OK". The Print dialog comes up. I choose the PDF button in the lower left corner. I choose "Save as PDF...". A second Print dialog comes up. I input a title in the Save As box. I choose Desktop in the Where box. I do not change anything else and select the "Save" button. A dialog appears that says, "Print Error while printing." There is an icon with paper, a pencil, a ruler and a paintbrush on the dialog.
Is this an issue with Apple and Java security? Does "run with limited access" mean I can't print and save as PDF? Should I upgrade to Mavericks? It seems like others have not been happy with Mavericks and have had problems saving as PDF with Mavericks. How do I let Apple know about this error? The error dialog is useless.
I am on a Mac running OS X 10.8.5 and Safari 6.1.2. My Java version is 7 update 51.
What other information can I provide to help solve the problem (if it can be solved)?
Thank you for your help!Correction I would like to save as PDF/A-1b
for archiving.
