Problem in Business Logic Callable Object execution

Hi All,
We are working on a workflow scenario where 2 approvals are present. Second approval is optional.
Second approval is required or not is decided by a business logic callable object.
This callable object is assigned (user role0 to initiator.
Issue is, when first approval is completed, flow goes to business logic callable object. A UWL entry comes in initiators inbox. And from there, flow doesn't move forward. It simply shows message 'The next activity is not yet available: try again later using the "Refresh" button".
I have tested this business logic callable object individually, and it works fine.
But in process, it doesn't move further.
What can be the solution to this?
Thanks,
Deepti

Hi,
I have the similar issue.
In my case it is taking too much time for completion.
It is a background step so it should execute automatically.
I have also checked Queue's for this.
But could not understand why it is taking soo much time?

  • Cannot use DSUB function in Business Logic Callable Object

    Hi sdners! I am trying to create a Business Logic Callable Object, that compares a date and actual date. I used DSUB like this:
    DSUB(DVAL(DSTR(NOW(),'DATE')),DVAL(DSTR(@beginning_date,'DATE')),'D')
    @beginning_date is of type Date. DSUB should return how many days passed between actual date and @beginning_date. However, when I test it using Test tab, it returns 0 (zero). I tried using this also with same result:
    DSUB(NOW(),@beginning_date,'D')
    DSUB(NOW(),@beginning_date,'DD')
    DSUB(@beginning_date,NOW(),'D')
    DSUB(DVAL(DSTR(NOW(),'DATE')),DVAL(DSTR(@beginning_date,'DATE')),'DD')
    DSUB('5/05/2009','1/20/2009','D')
    DSUB(5/05/2009,1/20/2009,'D')
    Does anyone know what should I do to get it solved??
    Any help is highly appreciated!

  • Business logic callable object and Dynamic User assignment

    hi all,
    I have to design scenario using VC and GP
    using VC i designed a form that consist of some input parameters value,product..
    i integrated the designs created in VC to CO's
    My workflow should be like this
    now if the value<500
    it should go for approval to user1->user3
    if 500<value<1000  means it should go for approval to user1->user2->user3
    i tried this by using a businesslogic callable object
    the input ot this businesslogic CO is "value" parameter
    reult state
    continue BOOL(@value<500)
    break  Bool(500<@value<1000)
    process
    sequential block1
    Altenateblock block
                  Action
                result state:
                 continue->target->seqblock2
                 break->target->seqblock3
                 business logic CO
    seqblock2
                            Action1
                            Action3
    seqblock3
                              Action1
                              Action2
                              Action3
    i designed the workflow like this
    but the problem is that during runtime its directly jumping to seqblock3 with out asking the input value for business callable object
    and its not exiting from that block3.its going like infinite  loop(action1->action2->action3->action1->action2->Action3)
    pls suggest me the way to achieve this task

  • Problem in creating a callable object of type Business Logic

    Hi SDN,
    I am trying to create a callable object of type Business Logic in CE.
    When I give all information and click Next, I get this error message.
    Error while loading configuration dialog: Failed to create delegate for component com.sap.caf.eu.gp.ui.co.CExpConfig. (Hint: Is the corresponding DC deployed correctly? Does the DC contain the component?)

    Hi.
    I'm having the same problem as Senthil in NW2004s SP15 with my application service and methods not showing up in the Callable Object wizard for Composite Application Services after I choose the Endpoint.  The only application name that shows up in the wizard is caf.tc, and the only service names that show up for it are LDDataAccessor, Metadata, and PropPermissionService.
    My IDE is on one machine and the application server I deploy to is located on a different machine.  My endpoint to the remote application server looks to be correctly configured.  The Composite Application Service seems to be deployed properly as I'm able to see it and test that it works in the Web Services Navigator <http://remotehost:50000/wsnavigator/>
    My deployed application service is a remote enabled service and is also web services enabled as well.
    I'm not sure if this is relevant, but I noticed that the generated Java code does not create any remote EJB interfaces (only home and local interfaces were generated).
    Something else I noticed is that when I proceed to the External Service Configuration -> Business Entities screen <http://remotehost:50000/webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/cafUIconfiguration>, I only see three business entities displayed, and the following error message is displayed: "Corrupt metadata has been detected. This may prevent some objects from being displayed. Check the server log for more details."  I was unable to find anything in the instance log files.  Is the error message indicative of the problem?
    I am developing locally without a NetWeaver Development Infrastructure (NWDI) in place.
    I'm wondering if the credentials specified in the endpoint require any special roles or privileges.
    Senthil, do any of these additional descriptions apply to you as well?

    Hi Wesley
    According to me, it is because of some missing package that this problem is encountered coz even i have faced this problem w.r.t the UWL and then i imported the required packages and it worked.

  • Problem with Business Logic Services Logic Editor

    Hi,
    I am trying to go to Logic Editor under Business Logic Services. I'm getting error that "Unable to launch xMII"
    Is there any java related problem in my machine?

    Amalesh,
    What version of xMII are you using 12.0 by chance.  If so goto the Java Web Start -> File -> Preferences -> and set your proxy to "None".  I would not recommend reinstalling Java as this will not solve your problem and if you are on xMII 12.0, the recommended version is 1.4.2_13 as a minimum.

  • Problem Updating Business Partner DI Object loaded via XML

    Hello,
    I'm working with  SB1 8.81 PL 08
    I have to Update a Business Partner Object in a Target SB1 Company Database starting from a Business Partner Objects saved as XML from the Source SB1 Company Database.
    Normally this works fine, I load from XML this Object and calling the Method Update all data is Syncronized in the Target DB.
    But if the Business Partner Object has at least a Contact Person and in the Target Company DB a Marketing Document has been created for this particular Business Partner the Update Method called on the loaded by XML object always fail giving the following error:
    Error: -10
    Message: Contact Person is referenced by another object.  , 'Sales Quotations [...contact Person ID...]'
    The modifications I need to update do not involve contact person in the BP object but only other simple properties like Tel Nr. ...
    In conclusion ... if the target BP has a marketing document created it seems no more possible to update it with an XML load, instead if a load the BP using the   GetByKey() Method and changing manually some properties of the object the Update works fine.
    Thank you for support.

  • Attributes Problem in Business Object

    Hi,
    We had a requirement of creating a new Business Object with a couple of attributes(both Database and Virtual Attributes)
    So, as per the requirement, I created my Business Object with all the required attributes. And I have coded the required Business Logic for my Virtual Attributes.
    Now, I created my Business Object's method's using these attributes(OBJECT-ATTRIBUTE_NAME) in my methods wherever required.
    Finally, I tested the Business Object in SWO1(Business Object Builder), here are my observations...
    1) The Database attributes is getting created properly and I can see the values for the required
    2) The Virtual Attributes are getting created as per the Business Logic and I can see the desired result for this also.
    3) The methods are giving desired results.
    Now, my doubt is, when I trigger one of this Business Object's method from workflow, the attribute values(OBJECT-ATTRIBUTE_VALUE) are not visible inside the method. But if I test the same BO using SWO1, I can see all the Attribute values(OBJECT-KEYFIELDS).
    I can only see the KEY FIELDS of the Business Object in Debug mode, I mean, I can view OBJECT-KEY-KEYFIELD value, but not the OBJECT-ATTRIBUTENAME inside the BO'S method in Debug mode-when triggered from Workflow.
    Well, I am triggering the Workflow using the SWUD transaction and infact I am creating the required Instances in the first screen of SWUD.
    Can anyone make me clear why this is happening?
    Regards,
    <i><b>Raja Sekhar</b></i>

    Hi people,
    Thanks for immediate reply.
    Well, I think I didnt explain my problem clearly...
    Well, here is my clear explanation.
    I created a new Business Object named ZOBJECT say...
    It has 3 key fields...
    PERNR(Employee Number),BEGDA(Start Date) and ENDDA(End Date)
    It has 2 attributes...
    One is a Databsase Attribute - ENAME which gets populated from database PA0001.
    Another is a Virtual Attribute - EMAILID which gets populated from some Business Logic.
    And it has one Event...ZEVENT
    It has one method...
    SENDMAIL - Which sends the email to the EMAILID Attribute.So my coding looks something like this...
    METHOD SENDMAIL.
      DATA : W_FROMEMAIL TYPE PA0105-USRID_LONG,
             W_TOEMAIL TYPE PA0105-USRID_LONG,
             W_SUBJECT(100),
            IT_TEXT TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF SOLI.
      W_FROMEMAIL = '[email protected]'.
      W_TOEMAIL = OBJECT-EMAILID.
      W_SUBJECT = 'Test Mail'.
    Populate the mail content into IT_TEXT Internal table
      call function 'YHSENDEMAIL'
          EXPORTING
            FROMEMAIL = W_FROMEMAIL
            TOEMAIL   = W_TOEMAIL
            SUBJECT   = W_SUBJECT
          TABLES
            IT_TEXT   = IT_TEXT.
    ENDMETHOD.
    So as shown above I designed my Business Object.
    And I tested this Business Object from SWO1(Business Object Builder) Transaction itself. I am able to get the desired result. Everything seems perfect till now.
    Now, I created my workflow with ZOBJECT-ZEVENT as the Start Event.
    I created one Standard Task to send EMail which in turn calls up my ZOBJECT-SENDEMAIL Method.
    So when I called this method, I found that OBJECT-EMAIL inside the method is not populated, ultimately, no mail is going.
    I dont understand why the attribute values are not populated when I call the same method from workflow.
    When I checked the workflow log, I can see my attribute values for the ZOBJECT. But in the Method, I cant access the attribute values as such...But I am able to access the Key fields of the method...
    Can anybody explain me the reason for this behavior?
    I checked the BINDING, Everthing seems perfect from this side...So I dont think it's a binding problem.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Kiran,
    1. go to development Infrastructure --> select ur Software component --> in the component properties Tab > select dependencies Tab->click on Add Button.
    2. in the pop up window , select the Software component (Gp - Core) which has the  caf/eu/gp/api component and give the dependency details and click Finish.
    3. Ensure that Unrestricted acesss is granted for this component. this u can check, by selecting  caf/eu/gp/api  and select permissions tab in component properties.
    hope it helps,

  • Problem with Background Callable Object

    Hi All,
    I am trying to create a background callable object in GP. From my understanding and according to the help document here is what I did:
    - Generated a deployable proxy development component using the Top down approach.
    - Created a Java Development component which implements the interface IGPBackgroundCallableObject. This Development component has the proxy object generated in Step 1 in the Used DCs. Internally this class does a JNDI lookup to the deployed Webservice Client and executes the webservice. Then I add this class as a public part in the Development Component.
    - Create a J2EE Library that has the public part of the class generated in Step 2 as the Used DCs.
    - Deploy the Library and use that in the GP Design time to create the Callable object.
    Following are the problems that I am facing:
    - The Java class that consumes the deployable proxy does not seem to recognize the classes that are present in the proxy object. Even though there is a reference to it.
    - If we try to include the proxy project in the Java Build path of the class it simply removes the link at build time.
    - At one instance it somehow succeeded during the build phase and I deployed the library to the J2EE engine but while testing the callable project it came up with a NoClassDef exception. Basically it was unable to find the proxy object’s classes.
    I am not sure if I am doing anything wrong or the process that I am following is not right. I would appreciate if anyone could help me understand what the problem is and how do we go about achieving the above scenario.
    Best regards,
    Sudhi

    Hi Jorgen,
    This behavior is completely normal. It can seem awkward but what you described is somehow logical.
    Let's say you have three actions, the second one is the email notification. When completing the first action, the second action is triggered. As it is a background callable object, it is put into the queue and wait for processing. As the refresh of the screen is faster than the processing of the callable object, the next action (the third) is not yet active/ready to be processed.
    When the email is sent (i.e. the background callable object executed), a callback takes place and the next activity is triggered. Then, the 3 action is active and can be shown.
    Due to technical restriction of Web Dynpro, it is not possible to refresh the screen when the action is ready to be processed. The user has to refresh it explictly.
    With SP12, the processing of the queue has been improved and it's much more faster than before. The "problem" you noticed shouldn't be there anymore.
    Hope this helps.
    David

  • How do I deal with problems during business object construction?

    Hi Everyone.
    I'm wondering about best practices for program control flow when business objects can't be constructed properly.
    In my servlet I want to create a new Transaction business object based on the parameters of the HttpServletRequest.
    transaction = new Transaction( request );The Transaction, in turn, has a Customer business object representing the Customer doing the transaction. The Customer is also constructed based on request parameters. So I have in the Transaction constructor,
    public Transaction( HttpServletRequest request ) {
        customer = new Customer( request );
    }In the Customer constructor I want to do some validation. For example, I want to check that the requested Customer exists in the database.
    If the validation fails, should I throw an exception, which could then eventually be caught by the Servlet which would send back an "Invalid Customer" message to the end user?
    But it seems to me like this violates the "never use exceptions for flow control" rule (as described for example at http://onjava.com/pub/a/onjava/2003/11/19/exceptions.html?page=2).
    It is a normal function of my application to deny a transaction to a non-valid customer... so it seems like I shouldn't need to bring in the exception handling overhead for this normal business process.
    OK, so I guess put "is_valid" flags in the business objects and set them on constructor errors then check them??
    public Transaction( HttpServletRequest request ) {
        customer = new Customer( request );  // customer.is_valid flagged false
        if ( !customer.get_is_valid( ) ) {
            this.is_valid = false; // transaction.is_valid is also false now because its Customer is not valid
        } else { // customer is valid
            // finish the rest of the Transaction construction business logic
            // of course this will turn into a mess of deeply nested "else valid" clauses
            // if there are many validation checks...
    }...and then in the servlet...
    transaction = new Transaction( request );
    if ( !transaction.get_is_valid( ) ) {
        // Send back error message to user.
    } else {
        // Finally do some business logic.  Maybe after another mess of nested "else valid" clauses.
    }This gets so hard to read it seems like the throwing Exceptions as part of normal control flow option is preferble.
    Is there third option I am missing?
    What are your opinions?
    Thanks,
    Bishop

    Build your Transaction and Customer objects based on the data in the request. Then validate the customer, since an invalid customer is "normal" for you.
    I'd consider using some sort of factory-like method for creating these objects from the request, since you're tying (sort of) your business stuff to the fact you're currently using a webby (servlet-based) front end...but that's more an aside.
    So, in pseudo-ish code:
    Transaction t = createTransaction(request);
    if (t.validCustomer()) do work;
    else return to wherever;This is only a first-pass idea, and other requirements might knock it for six, but it's a startpoint.
