Problem in clustering ejb

          I am using a cluster of two servers and deploying my business logic (ejb) as a
          cluster service. The war file (servlets) are deployed in as seperate server acting
          as only a web server.
          I get problem in aquiring the home object of my ejb. To get the handle to InitialContext,
          I use the properties file and the PROVIDER_URL is the url of the admin server
          of the cluster.
          The ejb' are not deployed in the admin server, only in the two clustered machines.
          The problem is that when the servlet gets the initial context and tries to lookup
          the home, it gets a null value. There is no JNDI tree for the deployed ejb's in
          the admin server.
          Is there something wrong with my set up. Using WLS 6.1 sp2. The stack trace -

          PROVIDER_URL is either the localhost (if EJB and client at the same server) or
          cluster address (e.g., comma separated ip:port address). admin server is not you
          want. Just think the cluster can run even the admin server is down.

  • Problem with clustering with JBoss server

    Hi,
    Its a HUMBLE REQUEST TO THE EXPERIENCED persons.
    I am new to clustering. My objective is to attain clustering with load balencing and/or Failover in JBoss server. I have two JBoss servers running in two diffferent IP addresses which form my cluster. I could succesfully perform farm (all/farm) deployment
    in my cluster.
    I do believe that if clustering is enabled; and if one of the server(s1) goes down, then the other(s2) will serve the requests coming to s1. Am i correct? Or is that true only in the case of "Failover clustering". If it is correct, what are all the things i have to do to achieve it?
    As i am new to the topic, can any one explain me how a simple application (say getting a value from a user and storing it in the database--assume every is there in a WAR file), can be deployed with load balencing and failover support rather than going in to clustering EJB or anything difficult to understand.
    Kindly help me in this mattter. Atleast give me some hints and i ll learn from that.Becoz i could n't find a step by step procedure explaining which configuration files are to be changed to achieve this (and how) for achiving this. Also i could n't find Books explaining this rather than usual theorectical concepts.
    Thanking you in advance
    with respect

    hi ,
    In this scenario u can use the load balancer instead of fail over clustering .
    I would suggest u to create apache proxy for redirect the request for many jboss instance.

  • Problem in deploying EJBs (More than 390) in weblogic-BEA says JDK issue!!!

    Our application had 390 EJBs before the current build. It was running fine on Weblogic 6.1-SP4 with JDK 1.3.1_08.
    In the current build, 3 EJBs were introduced and the Weblogic server started giving deployment problems. We then came across the Weblogic Bug stating the magic Number of 390 and delegating it to a SUN Bug. But, contrary to the SUN bug which says of a OutofMemory issue, we were not getting any OutOfMemory error.
    Then, just to test the 390 number, we cut downed on the number of EJBs reducing the number to 388, in a test environment. EJBs got deployed without problem. Then we added 3 EJBs (increasing the EJB count to 391), and Weblogic server started giving Deployment problem in a EJB which was one of the 388 that were running fine earlier.But, now also there was no OutOfMemory error. Then we removed one of the newly added EJBs to bring the EJB count to 390. The Weblogic deployed the EJBs without error(even the one which was giving problem when EJB count was 391).
    So, 390 seems to be the number but, contrary to BEA problem ID: 035884 which delegates the problem to SUN Bug ID:4390238 (Incidentally SUN has closed this bug as Non-reproducable), we are not getting any OutOfMemory error.
    My questions to the JAVA community are:
    1)Is the problem really related to JDK or Weblogic?
    2)If it's a problem with JDK, then what should be done to fix it?

    So, 390 seems to be the number but, contrary to BEA
    problem ID: 035884 which delegates the problem to SUN
    Bug ID:4390238 (Incidentally SUN has closed this bug
    as Non-reproducable), we are not getting any
    OutOfMemory error.Did you check the server logs? There might be an OutOfMemoryError logged.
    My questions to the JAVA community are:
    1)Is the problem really related to JDK or Weblogic?Apparently, the problem is with the Weblogic. Did you try deploying the same number on some higher version of Weblogic? (7.0 for instance)
    2)If it's a problem with JDK, then what should be
    done to fix it?Check the bug database for the same bug id. There is a workaround posted. The evaluation comments are also hinting at using the suggested VM options.

  • Problem catching handle ejb session in jsp pages

    Hello,
    i'm trying to develop an ejb application.
    I have created an ejb session stateful in a second ejb stateless :
    InitialContext ic = new InitialContext();
    UserSessionHome home = (UserSessionHome)ic.lookup("UserSessionHome");
    UserSession conn = home.create(login,mdp);
    Then I have to retrieve this ejb session stateful in a jsp page in order to remove it or to call some others functions developped in the bean interface.
    I think that the solution for this problem are the ejb handles.
    But i don't know how and where I can store them.
    Can you help me?
    Thanx
    Sophie

    You put them in the HttpSession. For "how," read the API docs.

  • Is there a problem with Entity EJBs on 8.1.7?

    Oracle 8.1.7 on Solaris 7:
    Bean Managed persistence:
    TX Attribute - Required:
    UserTransaction bound into JNDI:
    I have tried numerous times and numerous ways to get my Entity beans working. Ejbs that represent tables with 3 columns work fine, but another EJB with 15 columns doesn't - ejbCreate, ejbFindByPrimaryKey work fine, but whenever make some changes and subsequently commit, ejbStore doesn't execute, I even had my client sleep for 15 secs, but still nothing. I know there is a problem with deploying EJBs using JDeveloper 3.2, but I have deployed all these EJBs using deployejb command line tool on the server itself!
    We are right now trying to find out whether Oracle is our right choice for EJBs, any input is highly appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Ashish.

    Upon further investigation this is what I have found:
    1. Created another EJB for the 15 column table, but this time represented just 3 of its columns - so I have 3 instance variables in the Bean, and a getter/setter method for each except a setter for the primary key.
    2. Undoubtedly it worked fine.
    3. Increased the number of columns to 4 and GUESS WHAT, upon calling setXXX for the newly added setter method and committing, it started failing, the value just wouldn't change in the DB. But when I call all the setXXX methods, it works just fine, I finally narrowed it down to just 1 setXXX method, if I use this method with any other setXXX methods, all the values get updated, otherwise none of them get updated.
    CLEARER PICTURE:
    Supposing I have the following instance variables in the Bean:
    String id;
    String dt;
    String vol;
    String price;
    String beg_day;
    String end_day;
    and the following get/set methods
    String getId()
    String getDt()
    String setDt()
    String getVol()
    String setVol()
    String getPrice()
    String setPrice()
    String getBeg_day()
    String setBeg_day()
    String getEnd_day()
    String setEnd_day()
    Now if I do the following:
    HomeInterface hm = ...JNDI lookup
    UserTransaction ut = ...JNDI lookup
    ut.begin();
    RemoteInterface rm = hm.findByPrimaryKey("1");
    rm.setBeg_day("01-DEC-00");
    ut.commit();
    nothing happens, the date in the underlying table is still the same, BUT.....
    if I do this:
    ut.begin();
    rm = hm.findByPrimaryKey("1");
    rm.setDt("01-DEC-00");
    rm.setBeg_day("01-DEC-00");
    ut.commit();
    IT WORKS..... using setDt() with any other method works for that setXXX method also...
    Anybody experience this at all.....
    Thanks in advance for your help.
    Ashish.
    PS: setDt() is the last method in the stBean.java file with the maximum __method_index, does that make any difference??

  • Clustering EJB's

    I am trying to use a custom to Router class to dynamically load balance session beans between 2 servers in a cluster. I force the class to return only one server but I still see cluster load balance the beans between the 2 servers. I can see the router class being called but it does not seem to be used.Am I missing something?? Please Advice.ThanksRoshan

              After clustering, you need to have cluster wide JNDI tree structure.

  • Clustering EJB

    can anyone tell me how to:
    1. cluster EJB
    2. how does my client class locate clustered EJB from the JNDI tree
    i am currently using weblogic 6.1
    thanks

    This is not a simple question that can be answered in the forums. BEA has decent documentation on setting up clustering. It requires a few steps like:
    Getting a broadcast IP address,having a clustering license, setting up master and slave app servers, etc. You really need to go here and start your journey:

  • Weblogic7/examples/clustering/ejb Automatic failover for idempotent methods ?

    This one should be easy since it is from the examples folder of bea 7 about
              clustering.
              Ref : \bea7\weblogic007\samples\server\src\examples\cluster\ejb
              I am referring to the cluster example provided with the weblogic server 7.0
              on windows 2000.
              I deployed Admin server and 2 managed server as described in document.
              Everything works fine as shown by the example. I get load balancing and
              failover both. Too Good.
              Client.java is using the while loop to manage the failover. So on exception
              it will go thru the loop again.
              I understand from the documentation that the stateless session EJB will
              provide the automatic failover for Idempotent stateless bean
              Case Failover Idempotent : ( Automatic )
              If methods are written in such a way that repeated calls to the same method
              do not cause duplicate updates, the method is said to be "idempotent." For
              idempotent methods, WebLogic Server provides the
              stateless-bean-methods-are-idempotent deployment property. If you set this
              property to "true" in weblogic-ejb-jar.xml, WebLogic Server assumes that the
              method is idempotent and will provide failover services for the EJB method,
              even if a failure occurs during a method call.
              Now I made 2 changes to the code.
              1 . I added as follows to the weblogic-ejb-jar.xml of teller stateless EJB
              <stateless-clustering>
              <stateless-bean-is-clusterable>true</stateless-bean-is-clusterable>
              <stateless-bean-load-algorithm>random</stateless-bean-load-algorithm>
              <stateless-bean-methods-are-idempotent>true</stateless-bean-methods-are-idem
              potent>
              </stateless-clustering>
              So I should get the automatic failover .............
              2. Also I added the break statement in the catch on line around 230 in
              Client .java
              catch (RemoteException re) {
              System.out.println(" Error: " + re);
              // Replace teller, in case that's the problem
              teller = null;
              invoke = false;
              break;
              So that the client program does not loop again and again.
              Now I compile and restart all my three servers and redeploy application (
              just to be sure )
              I start my client and I get a automatic load balancing between the server
              which makes me happy.
              But Failover ....?
              I kill one of the managed application server in cluster at any particular
              test fail point.
              I expect the exception to be taken care automatically by error/failover
              handler in the home/remote stub
              But the client program fails and terminates.
              1. What is wrong with the code ?
              2. Does the automatic failover with the indempotent methods also has to be
              taken care by coding the similar while loop for stateless ejb ?
              Your help will be appreciated ASAP.
              Let me know if you need any thing more from my system. But I am sure this
              will be very easy as it is from the sample code.........
              Thanks

    Sorry I meant to send this to the ejb newsgroup.

  • Stateful Serializing/Deserializing Problem in clusters

    I'm using a stateful session bean that hold some values. When i try to test replication in clusters, the bean is serialized and deserialized from one node to other. That is ok.
    The problem is when the state is too big (actuallly when the state is bigger than 1000bytes), the server is unable to replicate the stateful bean, and throws:
    StreamCorruptedException, "invalid type code: 00".
    I am using OC4J 10g (10.1.3.1).

    Thnx.

    you MUST implement your own ArrayList, I have the same problem you have, gSOAP is fantastic exellent election, Axis mm... Ihave a lot of problems specially using collections
    I suggest use pure java to create the web service (wscompile, wsdeploy, these things makes a WSDL file)
    Implement your own ArrayList
    use gSOAP to create the clients stubs
    code a little to create the client

              Hi All,
              I'm a Newbie to WebLogic and would appreciate help in solving my problem.
              I am running WLS 5.1sp6 on NT4 and am trying to implement a two server cluster on one machine.
              The cluster runs fine, but as soon as I try to deploy our EJBs in the cluster level properties file I get the exceptions listed in the attached log.
              In a standalone environment the EJBs function flawlessly but not in a cluster.
              Notice that the EJB is successfully deployed to the server but the exception crops up a little further down the track.
              The only unusual thing about the environment I can think of is the WebLogic CLASSPATH is disabled.
              The EJB deployment descriptor contains:
              <clustering-descriptor>

  • Problems with storing EJB Remote in session and retrieving.

    We store EJB remote object in session and differnt clients retrieve it from session
    before making a business method call. This seems to work in most cases but some
    times it gives the exception attached. This happens only in a clustered environment.
    What has been observed is that if we put the remote object inside a hashtable
    which in-turn is stored in session retrieval from hashtable does not give this
    problem.
    Any suggestion / solution would be greatly appreciated.
    regards,
    Rajesh

    Hello Rajesh,
    Thanks for your sugggestion. Rajesh Karuvat and myself are working on the same
    project.
    I want to know if there is any specific patch for this problem for weblogic 6.1
    sp3.
    The reason we can not just try Weblogic sp4 is that we are using epicentric 4.0
    that is cvertified with weblogic 6.1 sp3 and not sp4.
    I have also opened a case with bea about it. I would reaaly appretiate if you
    can check the detials about it. The case number is 376228.
    Please do revert back.
    Thanks,
    Shilpa

  • Problem in creating EJB and WebService using complex class structure

    Hi All,
    My requirement is like :
    I have a class with very complex structure.
    I have also used external .jars.
    Now when I have created an EJB with a method's return parameter as above class.
    But when I am creating a Webservice, it doesnot allow me to select this method.
    Not able to configure why ?
    Please Help.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    I have gone through your code and the problem is that when you create jar it takes a complete path address (which is called using getAbsolutePath ) (when you extract you see the path; C:\..\...\..\ )
    You need to truncate this complete path and take only the path address where your files are stored and the problem must be solved.

  • Problem with clustering of oracle application server 10.1.3.1

    Hi
    I have clustered two instances of oracle application server 10.1.3.1 running on solaris.
    Instance 1
    <notification-server interface="ipv4">
    <port local="6100" remote="6200" request="6003"/>
    <ssl enabled="true" wallet-file="$ORACLE_HOME/opmn/conf/ssl.wlt/default"/>
         <topology>
              <nodes list="10.x.x.1:6201"/>
         </topology>
    </notification-server>
    Instance 2
    <notification-server interface="ipv4">
    <port local="6101" remote="6201" request="6004"/>
    <ssl enabled="true" wallet-file="$ORACLE_HOME/opmn/conf/ssl.wlt/default"/>
    <topology>
              <nodes list="10.x.x.2:6200"/>
         </topology>
    </notification-server>
    But when i log on to enterprise manager i get the following message on top of the page:
    You have more than one instance of the Application Server Control application running in this cluster. This is not a recommended configuration and could lead to unexpected problems. Please stop the additional instances of Application Server Control or disable routing to these instances.
    When i click on one of the instances, i get the session expired error.
    what is the problem behind this?
    regards,

    In the doc, it states that you should only ever have one active instance of application server control running in a cluster at a time -- ASC was not designed to operate as a session sharing application, so your session state is specific to one instance. If for some reason you were directed to the ASC application on the other instance, you get errors.
    You can use the OC4J admin_client.jar utility or the opmnctl command to shut down the ascontrol application in one of the instances.

  • Problem calling a EJB Java Client from Java Activity Agent

    Hi,
    We have a wrapper java class that calls to an EJB through a JNDI lookup. The wrapper class is called from a workflow. The problem is that the call fail with the following message error:
    Error : getRemoteHome Lugar: ServiceLocator NamingException Mensaje Error: Receive timed out
    Mon Jan 09 15:32:13 EST 2006 Enqueuing VIC/97513 com.tallion.tax.workflow.assessment.Update
    F_FN_ERROR (MODULE=com.tallion.tax.workflow.assessment.Update) (ITEMTYPE=VIC) (ITEMKEY=97513) (ACTID=10617) (FUNCMODE=RUN) (ERRMESSAGE=getRemoteHome Lugar: ServiceLocator NamingException Mensaje Erro
    The wrapper class has in their classpath a jndi.properties as follows:
    java.naming.factory.initial=org.jnp.interfaces.NamingContextFactory
    java.naming.provider.url=69.0.137.120:1099
    java.naming.factory.url.pkgs=org.jboss.naming:org.jnp.interfaces
    The call just works fine when we restart the Java Activity Agent and then, after a while it fails again with the same error.
    Any ideas/workaround?
    Thanks.

    I have a situation that is a bit similar. I have successfully used beans for storing methods used in JSPs and used by other methods in the same class as was suggested above. Now I would like to break some methods into another (utility) class since they are lower level and can be used by lots of things. They are for database operations (given a String query and String dbname, it queries and returns ResultSet for example). I want to have them in a separate class for reusability and OOP.
    I am having problems calling those public static methods in the public class from my bean that communicates with the JSP. I can't compile the class that calls the method in the database ops class. I get an error like :
    loginHelper.java:45: cannot find symbol
    symbol : variable sqlHelper
    location: class dbHelperBean.loginHelper
    and when I include the package name in the call I get
    loginHelper.java:45: cannot find symbol
    symbol : class sqlHelper
    location: package dbHelperBean
    That's strange since the package of both classes is dbHelperBean and the class is indeed called sqlHelper. I tried to compile it in the same directory as sqlHelper as well. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks for any help.
