Problem in external process using process flow

Hi All,
I want to execute a batch file ( which is appending 2 text files ) using OWB process flow.
For this i am using external process in OWB process flow and giving the parameters for external process as below:
COMMAND --- VALUE as c:\winnt\system32\cmd.exe
PARAMETERS_LIST --- VALUE as ?c:\\fileappend.bat
when i execute the process flow....it is showing
Completion Status Completed successfully

But i couldn't see the result, means the files appended.
It is working when i execute the batch file through MS-DOS.
Please let me know is there any other necessary steps i need to take.
Thanks in advance
Malli

Hi Malli,
Because you are using an external process you do not need to specify the cmd command to perform the execution. You can just put the call to the batch file you have in the command string and that is it. Beware that the working directory is <owb home>\owb\bin\win32.
Mark.

I've programmed a little program in C called "cinterpreter" which works like
an interpreter, when it launches it shows a welcome message to the display

in that case the C program named "cinterpreter" finish, here we can see the

The problem is with the leesalida method.
There you are reading form the output sream of the process usingBufferedReader.readLine.
readLine returns null only when it gets to the end of the stream, or here the stream ends only when the external processes ends.

  • Problem in running Process flow

    Hi,
I’m bit new to OWB. I made mapping which I deployed successfully. I can run through control center and it works fine (it just fills a table). However when I made the process through process flow and after its validation , tries to start it gives me error RTC-5170: The selected objects do not require deployment as they are all up to date in the Control Center, which is followed by RTC-5006 and obviously no data generated in the table. How can I pass this error? Secondly I tried to schedule this, firstly it doesnot ask for the process flow during schedule, secondly even from schedule the map doesnot run.
Appreciate any help to run the process flow.
    Regards
    Yasir

In the process flow validate and generate the process flow. then go back to design center and go one step above to process flow package module and right click and deploy the process flow package. once the deployment is successfull then go back to the process flow and right click and start the process flow.
    This should work.

  • OWB 11g Problem in running Process flow

I’ve build a process flow as described in “Getting Started with Oracle Warehouse Builder 11g”. But if I run the process flow I get a warning message “You have to deploy this object before running” followed by the error RTC-5170: The selected objects do not require deployment as they are all up to date in the Control Center.
Therefore I’m not able to run the process flow. What’s wrong? It looks so easy in Getting Started but it doesn’t work.
I’ve found two threads regarding this error from last year in this forum. But there is no solution for OWB 11g.
Has anyone an advice for me?

I've successfully installed OWF as described in Installation guide (all components are on the sam server).
But when I deploy a workflow in OWB I get some errors. In the job details
I find ORA-00942 and RPE-02053. It seems that the workflow repository is missing.
Are there additional steps for creating a workflow repository?
Or what is wrong? All installation logs (wf.log and workflow.log) are without errors and with success messages.
    Any idea?

  • Problem with copying Process Flows in OWB 10.2.0.1..

    Hello
We have a complex process flow which runs fine. When we try to duplicate the process flow in design center by copy/paste operation, the new process flow seems to execute activities out of sequence. We tried saving/synchronizing the process flow (eact activity individually) with no luck.
We checked the repository browser and see all the activities and transitions in the right order. I looked at both OWB repository tables as well as Workflow tables/views. It just seems that the run time picks up the data in a different order and executes it.
Any idea on how to debug this?. We can't create each process flow from scratch every time we need to add new one which will be slightly different one from an existing process flow.
    Thanks
    Prakash

Find and read the thread about when queries take too long.
Something is different between the systems, possibly
    * indexing
    * volume of data
    * connect-by structure in table data
    * initialization or session settings

    Hi Federico,
When you tranport Process Chains, initially chains will be available under "Not Asigned" node in RSPC Transaction. The transported chains wont be get highlighted automatically. Manually need to open the chain in update mode and activate it on Quality.
Hope it will help you to resolve the problem.

  • Constant problems with external HD used for time machine.

I have had numerous problems with my backup disk and can't seem to solve the problem... I often get errors with disk not ejecting properly, sometimes when the iMac has gone to sleep, sometimes not. Often the Mac won't recognise the disk when plugged back in (it recognises the other partition though). I can get the disk in disk utility sometimes, but if I run repair disk it finds a lot of errors and tells me it can't fix the disk. I'm told to Backup, format the disk etc.
Running yosemite on a 2008 iMac - disk is Hitachi 1TB usb powered (plugged straight in to iMac). I have prevented spotlight from indexing the HD.
Any advice ideas? Thanks in advance.

Is it hard-wired to the enclosure? If not, examine the connectors and compare with what is available. I doubt that it has a connector that is unique to this particular drive.
If you choose to replace the drive, don't get another manufacturer-branded external. They are often "crippled" so that they can't be used in anything other than the generally cheap enclosure in which they are packaged, or only usable if you re-format them. Here's a comment from a recent Macintouch thread on new Seagate 5TB externals (http://www.macintouch.com/readerreports/harddrives/index.html#d23mar2015):
A word of warning for those who want to rip out their drive. If you have data on it, it will only be read by Seagate controllers such as its original case or the GoFlex adapters. If you stick it in something like an IcyDock, it cannot be read and require a reformat. If you used it with another controller, it cannot be read when you put it back on the Seagate controllers.
A good quality enclosure, such as the OWC Mercury aluminum cases, is a good investment. You can choose the drive you install, and you usually get a better drive warranty that way.

  • Problem with External Table using ORACLE_INTERNAL TYPE in 9i release 2

    Hi,
I have tried to create an external table in oracle 9i release 2 using the following qurey:
    CREATE TABLE emp_ext
    ORGANIZATION EXTERNAL
    ( TYPE ORACLE_INTERNAL
    DEFAULT DIRECTORY admin_dat_dir
    LOCATION(admin_dat_dir:'emp1.dmp')
    PARALLEL
    AS
    SELECT * from employees;
and getting the following error message
ORA-30657: operation not supported on external organized table
    Please help me.
    Thanks in Advance

As a matter of fact oracle 9i has two types of api for external tables one is oracle_loader and the other is oracle_internal which in 10g become oracle_datapump.
What my question is how can I use the other type in case of external table as we are doing in 10g? Do I need to run any script to enable this feature or is there any privillege issue?
I've given the read, write privillege to the user and the oracle user has read/write permission in os level on the location of the directory.

  • Major problem - Process Flows hanging randomly - 11.2.0.1

    Hi,
We are experiencing the following problem.
Randomly process flows sit doing nothing.
Have ran some days and totally fine. Process flows fine - each activity has all the necesassry outgoing activities.
    What causes this?
    If run again - fine.
    How do we resolve.
We need to be able to kick off the process and leave it to run without having to check if it hanging al the time.
    Any help/advice would be great.
    Many Thanks

    Hi,
I found out that wrong ordering of transitions may cause strange problems. In owb, check that the outgoing transistions of each operator are numbered sequenty (0,1,2, ...). Sometimes, some number appear twice, e.g. 0,1,1). This often happens after an existing transition was deleted.
And make sure that the "else" transition (the one without any condition) always has the highest number.
    Regards,
    Carsten.

    Dear All,
I have a problem in external processing of Maintenance Order.
When i have created external processing operation.
I have assigned one component for that external operation which i have to send to vendor.
After saving the Maintenance order, system is generating Purchase Requisition for that operation.
That purchase requisition is having account assignment category F. But it is not picking the item category L and the component assigned for this external operation is not flowing to the purchase requisition.
Please guide me to solve this issue.
    Thanks & Regards

    Hi
For external service we can use PM03, for that we have to create service sheet and proceed further.
But here my requirement is, just like PP external processing they are doing one operation outside.
If you look at PP routing, Operation overview there is given external processing data and there will be subcontracting tick.
If we tick the sub-contracting button, then system will pick the component assigned to that operation to the Purchase requisition.
If we don't tick that button, system will not copy the component to PReq. .
Is there any option available here in PM?
    Please guide me.
    Thanks & Regards

  • Process flow hangs in state "bussy"

    Hi,
We are encountering what seems to be a "random" problem when runing process flows. In about 1 out of 4 runs the flow "hangs" with status "busy"
The technical specs are as follows:
    OWB 9.2.0.2.8 on WIN2K Server SP4.
There are two runtime repositories on two different WIN2K database servers (Oracle 9.2.0.4 EE)
    The symptoms are as follows:
    - We have more than 10 process flows containing from 15 to 60 processes. The problem is not related any single process flow, and occurs on both our target servers.
    - The process flows runs OK in approximately 3 out of four runs.
    - When the process flows "hangs", one or more of the processes in the process flow also hangs in the "busy" state. The hanging process can be a mapping or an external process
    - The processes that have status "busy" have actually finished. They have a completion time set, and in the case where the process sends mail, the mail has been received. In the case of mappings I have verified that the mapping has completed, and that the session performing mapping has terminated.
    - When the problem occurs, there is always the same "lock" pattern displaying in OEM:
Username Session IdLockMode HelMode Requ Object Name ROWID Object OwnObject T Resource ID1 Resource ID2
    OWBRT92 17TM ROW SHARNONE WB_RT_SERVICE_QUEUE_TAB OWBRT92 TABLE 61161 0

Session 17 is the runtime service, and these two locks are present under normal operation. Session 48 is the Sqlplus session runing the execution template, and session 67 is (i think) the session that is causing the problem.
    - The advanced queue WB_RT_NOTIFY_QUEUE tab shows "Number in state ready" equal to the number of processes still in the state "busy" i the process flow.
    - When the runtime service is stoped (using the stop_service.sql) The locking sessions disappears.
    - When the service is restarted, the processes change status to "bussy recovery" There is now a RPE-01008 and a RPE-01009 message in the "errors" section for the mapping.
    - After the failed recovery, everything looks normal, except that there are now twice the number of messages in state READY on the WB_RT_NOTIFICATION_QUEUE. The only way I have found to get rid of these is to delete them from the queue table.
Is this a known problem? We are about to go live in a few weeks, and this could be a serious show stopper if we can't rely on the daily process flows to run as expected.
I could log a TAR on this, but I suspect support would ask for a test case, and Im going to have a hard time providing it for them in this case.

    Jean-Pierre,
Thanks for the update. I was afraid this was going to be one of those "hard to pinpoint" issues...
When the problems occurs the Worflow Monitor always shows the task status as "Notified".
The "Main routine" is no longer executing. The session that was executing the mapping has disconnected, and the mapping has completed successfully. (I have verified this by checking the rows in the target tables). Also, the problem is not restricted to mappings. Sometimes it happens to "mail notifications", and in these cases the mail message is received as expected.
It looks to me like there is some kind of synchronization problem between AQ and the controlling process (the runtime access user session) that can arise under a given condition (which I unfortunately have not been able to determine what is). As far as I can tell, the process executing the mapping completes and puts the message that it has completed on the Notify_Queue (hence the messages in stat "Ready" on the queue), but for some reason the process waiting to read the message fails to do so.
As for a test case, I have recently sent an export of our design repository to Igor Machin. Is it possible for you to have a look at that? As I mentioned in the first post, our Process Flows are fairly complex. Some of the flows are executing 50+ mappings in parallel.

  • Upg 10gr2 to 11gr2, process flow: RPE-01003: An infrastructure condition...

    Hello.
I am in a bit of a pickle right now after upgrading OWB from 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.3, and I'm here requesting a sanity check. Due to the need of a database upgrade, OWB also has to be upgraded and the data warehouse that has been functional and stable for a long time on 10g needs to be migrated to 11g. So this is main deal:
I just want to migrate all mappings and workflows and run them as before. I do not want to redeploy as that will force an enormous effort to regression test everything.
So the OWB upgrade went seemingly well. Everything runs as before. The problem started when I tested deployment of a mapping and subsequently
    1. Deployment of a mapping goes well.
    2. Deployment of the process flow goes well.
    3. Deployment of a mapping that is run in a process flow however causes problems when the process flow is executed.
The deployment goes well. However the mapping fails when I run the process flow with the following error:
RPE-01003: An infrastructure condition prevented the request from completing: no rows found for select into statement.
I subsequently sync the mapping in the process flow redeploy the process flow. Now ALL the other mappings in the process flow that have not been redeployed since the upgrade fails with the same error. However the one that failed before is executed correctly. If I redeploy all the other mappings (which can be dozens) it works, but now I'm faced with a serious regression testing period.
Personally I have a couple of theories that I hope you can debunk or possibly verify.
    1. It might be location oriented. I say that because my locations are a bit... iffy. When I redeploy some mappings in some locations it always insists on redeploying the connector (regardless if I deploy it stand-alone right before), and my location passwords are never "remembered" between sessions.
    2. I do not have specific knowledge about how workflows are generated in the repository, but if it's run by ID, maybe a new ID is generated for the mapping when it is redeployed, and subsequently the process flow gets a new ID when it gets redeployed?
I hope someone has seen this before and can get me on the right track. Thanks very much.

Here is a log that also illustrates the problem.

  • Mapping complete - process flow busy

    Hi all,
I've a problem with a process flow I've imported from another server.
If I run this process flow in the testing server it runs and complete without problems.
Now, I've imported this process flow in the production server but it doesn't complete. In Audit browser I see that all mappings have "complete" status but the process flow is still busy after 1 hour.
In the process flow there are 7 mappings and 3 user defined operations that use shell scripts.
    What I've missed?
    Oracle and OWB 11gR1
    OS: Sles 10
    Thanks
    Gul.

    Hi Gul,
We are using OWB 11.1 and we've experienced the same thing.
    We solved this by:
    - adding an index on the runtime repository
    - clean up the runtime audit tables
    - collect statistics on the runtime tables
There should be plenty information about the step above.
If you're not familiair with it, then I can include it in a next message.
    - check the process flows for errors.
We found out that some process flows got corrupted after export-import.
    Some transitions had flase numbering.
Example: a mapping had an success (0), error (1) and warning (1).
The error and warning lines had the same number.
After correcting this the flows worked correctly.
    Regards,
    Emile

  • Process Flow error- RPE 01003

    Hello,
We are facing a very strange problem while running process flows in OWB. We are getting followig error when we execute process flows.
InfrastructureException: RPE-01003: An infrastructure condition prevented the request from completing.
    - Io exception: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection
It's strange because we are able to connect to source and target database outside owb. Also, the location test is successful. Any idea why it fails to connect while running process flow only. We tested the db links created by owb. They work as well.
We are using OWB 10.2 on Oracle 10G installed on Linux RAC machines.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks
    Madhavi

  • Process flow fails to complete when another in the same package is deployed - OWB 11.2.0.2

    Hi,
I have  problem with OWB Process Flows whereby whenever I deploy a process flow within an existing package, another Process Flow becomes (unknown to me) invalid and will not complete execution.
When deploying the first process flow, I am synchronising all mappings within it, saving, validating and saving again before deploying it. This process flow then functions ok but then a random process flow within the same package malfunctions. By this I mean the process flow does not complete, as if it has lost some connectors. Has anybody else had this problem?

    HI Richard,
Thanks for your reply. Yes I agree with your answer but sadly this does not seem to be the cause of the problem in my case as I always stop any running processes and double check with the list_requests.sql as provided and where necessary execute the deactivate_execution.sql and/or abort_exec_request.sql only if absolutely required. Finally I check again with list_requests.sql and if necessary run in the OWF_MGR schema: WF_PURGE.TOTAL and/or the following sql (again only if required) :
    BEGIN
    FOR cur_rec in (SELECT ITEM_TYPE,ITEM_KEY FROM OWF_MGR.WF_ITEM_ACTIVITY_STATUSES
      WHERE ACTIVITY_STATUS = 'ACTIVE')
    LOOP
    OWF_MGR.WF_PURGE.MOVE_TO_HISTORY(cur_rec.ITEM_TYPE,cur_rec.ITEM_KEY);
    COMMIT;
    END LOOP;
    END;
So I am sure that no processes are running before I begin deployment. Thanks again for your reply.
