Problem in French translation while writing a file on application server
I am writing some text symbols to a file on application server using Transfer statement. But for some french characters the data is not transleted correctly. I have maintained the french translation for these text symbols.
Hi,
Make sure you use the correct encoding while writing your file.

Problem while dowloading the file from Application Server
Dear Experts,
I am facing the Problem while downloading the file from Application server.
We done the automatic function while saving the invoice, this will create an idoc, and this idoc is written in the Application Server.
I am running the Transaction AL11 and select the record, and from menu --> List, i am downloading into TXT format.
But for some segments, the length is long, and so the last 3 to 4 fields values are not appearing in the File. Even though i am unable to view the values in the file before downloading. But i can view in IDOC.
Please help me to solve this issue.
Thanks & Regards,
Srinibut our user will use the Txn. AL11 and they will download from there
Educate the user On a serious note, tell him this is not how data from app server should be downloaded. You can ask him to talk to the basis team to provide him access to the app server folder where the file is being stored.
I can set the Variant and put this in background, But always the file name will be change, Like we use Time stamp in the File name.
You can't automate this process by scheduling in BG mode. This is because the in BG mode you can't dwld the file to presentation server.
Hope i'm clear.

Not recognizing # while reading the file from application server
Hi
I am reading a file from application server. While reading into internal table with read statement the last field in each record is filling with hash symbol in the last digit. If I write any if condition with HASH symbol its not going inside the if condition, means its not recognizing as hash may be its internally treating as some other. I need to remove the hash from that field. How I can do that.
Thanks,
kishoreI faced exact situation. Yes, internally its treated as some other special character. What i did was, becuase hash symbol was always coming at the end...i created a dummy field in my internal table so that it will not interfere with my actual data. When i see the data in my internal table, the hash always falls in the last field (dummy) which i will ignore. I could not get solution to remove this hash so i adopted this approach and it worked!!
Hope it helps,

Error while reading excel file from application server into internal table.
Hi experts,
My requirement is to read an excel file from application server into internal table.
Hence I have created an excel file fm_test_excel.xls in desktop and uploaded to app server using CG3Z tcode (as BIN file type).
Now in my program I have used :
OPEN DATASET v_filename FOR INPUT IN text mode encoding default.
DO.
READ DATASET v_filename INTO wa_tab.
The statement OPEN DATASET works fine but I get a dump (conversion code page error) at READ DATASET statement.
Error details:
A character set conversion is not possible.
At the conversion of a text from codepage '4110' to codepage '4103':
- a character was found that cannot be displayed in one of the two
codepages;
- or it was detected that this conversion is not supported
The running ABAP program 'Y_READ_FILE' had to be terminated as the conversion
would have produced incorrect data.
The number of characters that could not be displayed (and therefore not
be converted), is 445. If this number is 0, the second error case, as
mentioned above, has occurred.
An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.
The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_SY_CONVERSION_CODEPAGE', was not
caught and
therefore caused a runtime error.
The reason for the exception is:
Characters are always displayed in only a certain codepage. Many
codepages only define a limited set of characters. If a text from a
codepage should be converted into another codepage, and if this text
contains characters that are not defined in one of the two codepages, a
conversion error occurs.
Moreover, a conversion error can occur if one of the needed codepages
'4110' or '4103' is not known to the system.
If the conversion error occurred at read or write of screen, the file
name was '/usr/sap/read_files/fm_test_excel.xls'. (further information about
the file: "X 549 16896rw-rw----201105170908082011051707480320110517074803")
Also let me know whether this is the proper way of reading excel file from app server, if not please suggest an alternative .
Regards,
KarthikHi,
Try to use OPEN DATASET v_filename FOR INPUT IN BINARY mode encoding default. instead of OPEN DATASET v_filename FOR INPUT IN text mode encoding default.
As I think you are uploading the file in BIN format to Application server and trying to open text file.

Dump when writing a file to application server
Hi,
I am developing a customer statement report and putting the data into application server.
if the data is less - the file is getting created in application server.
if there is huge amount of data - the back job gets cancelled
The error description/dump is as follows :
Runtime Errors DATASET_WRITE_ERROR
Except. CX_SY_FILE_IO
The current program "ZCUST_STMT" had to be terminated because
a capacity limit has been reached.
The dump points in the line at TRANSFER STATEMENT
>>>>> TRANSFER lv_string TO v_file.
Is there any memeory space (Max limit ) specified for application server for a single file ?
How can we solve this issue ?
Thanks
SenthilHello Senthil,
Is the program terminating in the DEV box or in another subsequent system?
If in DEV, you can try to catch the exception & get the exception text. Something like this:
DATA: lx_file_err TYPE REF TO cx_root, "File Exceptions
lv_msg_txt TYPE string.
TRY.
TRANSFER x_data TO x_filepath.
CATCH cx_sy_file_io INTO lx_file_err.
lv_msg_txt = lx_file_err->get_text( ). "Get the error text
ENDTRY.

Hello All,
We are facing a strange problem while downloading a file to application server when file contains japanese text.
We are downloading vendor and customer information in a flat file format on application server. When the login language is EN program show ouput in a properly formatted manner.
When the login language is JA (japanese) program does download file with customer vendor data. I can see the description is japanese language but the formatting is gone for a toss.
We are facing similar issue with other programs downloading files on the application server.
I am using OPEN DATASET........ENCODING DEFAULT. and working on unicode enabaled ECC 6.0 system
Quick help appriciated.
Thanks!Hi
Sometimes this also happens because of your desktop setting.Make sure that your OS also supports the JAPANESSE language.
Ask your technical support team to enable them in your desktop.

Append data into the file in application server
Hi Friends,
I have an issue where i have a job which has three different stepst for same program. If i run the job the program will create a file in the application server and append the other two steps in the same file without overwriting the file or creating a new file.
My problem is like its creating three different files in application server for that particular job since it has three steps . Its not appending into one particular file .
I am using the FM 'Z_INTERFACE_FILE_WRITE' where i have used the pi_append in the exportng parameter . ITs working when i specify the file in local system. It is appending correctly when i run the report normally to apppend into local system.
But when i schedule a job to append the file in application server its creating three different files.
Kindly help me if anyone is aware of this issue
Thanks in advance
KishoreHi,
Please use open dataset to write and append files. Please check the logic of Z FM which you are using .
To open and write into a file use
OPEN DATASET FNAME FOR OUTPUT.
To append data into existing file use
OPEN DATASET FNAME FOR APPENDING.
To write into file:
v_file = file path on application server
OPEN DATASET v_file FOR output.
IF sy-subrc NE 0.
write:/ 'error opening file'.
ELSE.
TRANSFER data TO v_file.
ENDIF.
CLOSE DATASET v_file.
For appending :
OPEN DATASET v_file fOR APPENDING.(file is opened for appending data position is set to the end of the file).
Thanks and Regards,

JoseHi,
If we want to upload file data from the application server to the internal table, there is no function module or class static method which we can use, we must wirte the code by ourselves.
1. For the file data which has no seperator between field columns.
PARAMETERS p_file TYPE dxfile-filename.
START-OF-SELECTION.
OPEN DATASET p_file IN TEXT MODE ENCODING DEFAULT FOR INPUT.
DO.
READ DATASET p_file INTO gds_data.
IF sy-subrc <> 0.
EXIT.
ENDIF.
APPEND gds_data TO gdt_data.
ENDDO.
CLOSE DATASET p_file.2. For the file data which has tab separator between field columns.
DATA: gds_field_split type gts_data.
FIELD-SYMBOLS: <fs_field> TYPE gts_data.
PARAMETERS p_file TYPE dxfile-filename.
START-OF-SELECTION.
OPEN DATASET prf_file IN TEXT MODE ENCODING DEFAULT FOR INPUT.
DO.
READ DATASET p_file INTO gds_field.
SPLIT gds_field AT cl_abap_char_utilities=>horizontal_tab
INTO TABLE gdt_field_split.
LOOP AT gdt_field_split into gds_field_split.
gdf_index = gdf_index + 1.
ASSIGN COMPONENT gdf_index OF STRUCTURE
gds_data to <fs_field>.
IF sy-subrc = 0.
<fs_field> = gds_field_split.
ENDIF.
ENDLOOP.
APPEND gds_data TO gdt_data.
ENDDO.
CLOSE DATASET p_file.

Creating a file on application server that exceeds 10 Million charecters
Hello All,
We have custom IDocs which carry Strings of 1062 characters in each of their segments.
Now the requirement is to create a single string file out of these idocs data.
It is expected that each of these IDocs can go up to having more than 70,000 segments.
So, now when this is concatenated into one single string it can go upto 7 Million charecters.
My questions are:
1. Can we create a text file with so many charecters in a single line or is there any limitation for this ?
2. I have found a datatype CHAR30000, using which i'm currently concatnating around 30 segment data and then writing onto the file. Now once I wrote a single line, how can I set the pointer to End of line ?
3. Is there any limitation in ABAP to create such a long string text file using method mentioned above ?
Thanks for responding back!!
-SriNo, It should be something like below.. for writing the file onto application server , which aint working though...
*Writing output data into the file.
lw_endofline = 30000.
OPEN DATASET p_fileop FOR OUTPUT IN TEXT MODE ENCODING DEFAULT.
LOOP AT int_output INTO wa_output.
TRANSFER wa_output-sdata TO p_fileop.
"SET DATASET p_fileop POSITION lw_endofline.
SET DATASET p_fileop POSITION lw_endofline.
lw_endofline = lw_endofline + 30000.
ENDLOOP.
CLOSE DATASET p_fileop. -

open dataset dsn for output in binary mode.
loop at itab.
transfer itab-field to dsn.

Problems while writing to file
Hi,
I'm trying to query my test database (mysql) and to write these results to a file, I manage to get the results out of the database, but when I try to write for instance an int to a file, the file replaces the int by a square. What can be wrong?? The file is created successfully and I've writen the int to the standard out before writing it to the file; in the standard out the int is correct.
