Thanks,
MichaelYou need to load the driver first as follows:
Class.forName(oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver);

Does anyone have any experience using multipool JDBC connections with Oracle 8i OPS? During a oracle node failure, we are seeing all of the connections fail. Any help you could give me her would be greatly appreciated!

HalHi Hal. All that seems fine, as it should be. Tell me how you
enact a failure so that you'd expect one pool to still be good
when the other is bad.

Edited by: Vantasia on Nov 12, 2010 10:18 AM1. Is the connection url correct?
"jdbc:oracle:thin:@PLANET:1521:ORCL" is fine.
2. Is the TNS listener started?
c:\oracle\product\ora10\bin> lsnrctl status
3. Is a firewall between client and database server?
Connection url with firewall would be different.

It might be that you didn't post any code (using \ tags) for anyone to look at.

Long delays to get JDBC connection.
My application uses Oracle 8.1.7 and Oracle JDBC Driver.
I am getting log delays to get a new connection after the application is run for 2-3 hours. There is no specific time intraval as such. The problem goes off after 10-15 mts.
Anybody experience such problems?
Thanks
GensDebugging ur problem u might come across that u r not closing the connection after u have finished ur work with the connection , so the connection remains INACTIVE till oracle removes all these type of connection from the connection instances.
to find the no of connections on the oracle database
log on as system or any user having dba grants
select MACHINE,LOGON_TIME,USERNAME from v$session where USERNAME = 'USERNAME';
the quoted USERNAME should be the username u r connecting to oracle. for the above u will come to know the no of connections open. u can configure oracle to close INACTIVE connection imeediately ot close conection made in Java immediately after finishing ur work in them. if u r using a connection pool such a thing is not neccessary as a closed connection is returned back to the pool. however connections made in java have to be closed explicitly.
good luck -
Cannot establish connection with Oracle database
Hello
This is the first time I use BOE server with Crystal Report to execute some tests, and one issue is blocking me now, and I am not even sure if this is the right Forum where I should post it.
I installed BOE server XI 3.1 SP4 on Linux machine (new installation), and then I uploaded some existing Crystal Report templates that are working fine on another BOE server. Those CR templates have to establish a connection with a remote Oracle database to get the data, and we pass all credentials for this purpose.
The first time I run my first test I received this error that I could not find anywhere on the web :
ErrorLog 2011 8 10 7:05:52.505 14215 356 (Administrator:82) (../reporthandler.cpp:12462): CReportHandler::buildReportViewerError: CSResultExceFailed to open the connection." FileName:"../reporthandler.cpp" LineNum:12458 ErrorCode:756 ErrorMsg:"Failed to open the connection.
{FBAD55EE-BEAF-11E0-BC1C-005056813A72}.rpt" DetailedErrorMsg:""
I believe that the CR was not able to establish the connection with Oracle, so I install Oracle Client on the same machine (test remote connection ==> pass), I set the ORACLE_HOME variable, and I edit the file <installation_home>/ bobje/java/CRConfig.xml to add the path to ojdbc14.jar, and finnaly restart the tomcat server. However I am still getting the same error message.
Is there any hint that can help me troubleshooting this issue?
Thank youdo the reports use native oracle connectivity or JDBC ?
what version of Oracle client did you install ?
was it 32bit or 64bit client ?
what your LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable set to ?
what does it say in the CMC when you look at CR report's DB properties ? -
Getting Pooled Connection with username and password
hi,
I am facing problems in getting pooled connections to MYSQL
database.I am using Tomcat server.
I tried the example given in Tomcat doc "JNDI how to", it
works fine with one set of username and password which is
given in server.xml. Now can anybody guide me thru the steps
to get pooled connections to the same database with multiple
username and passwords.
Thankyou all in advanceNow can anybody guide me thru the steps to get pooled
connections to the same database with multiple
username and passwords.Nope. Can't be done -- at least not that I've seen yet.
Database/JDBC driver vendors seem unconcerned, or don't
care about this scenario. I ragged on Informix years
ago for this very feature. It should would make database
admins jobs a lot easier if they could know "who" that
connection belonged to that is running the outrageous
SQL query without having to divine it by way of tracing
socket/IP connections back thru the network to some machine.
The only way I've seen to do it is to create your own
connection pool code that handles user/password connections.
-- but then the problem becomes you have a collection of
mini-pools for each user. i.e. if you have 200 users, you
end up with 200 connection pools with a couple/few connections
in each sub-pool. Kinda defeats the purpse.
So, apparently, everybody just deals with the single
"generic" user/password connection pool. -
Xa-problems when releasing jdbc connection
We have a very strange problem with our WL setup.
Weblogic 8.1.4 (2 cluster nodes)
Oracle 9i stand alone db (although tested on RAC with 2 nodes)
The application architecture is quite complicated, with several EJB-applications that communicate via JMS and RMI. Everything (except logging) runs under xa-transactions that span multiple applications. We use both xa (for everything but logging) and non-xa jdbc connection pools (Oracle thin driver).
When we release a jdbc connection then the following node manager log entry is written:
<Mar 13, 2006 11:11:02 AM UTC> <Error> <JDBC> <BEA-001112> <Test "SELECT 1 FROM DUAL" set up for pool "myPoolXA" failed with exception: "oracle.jdbc.xa.OracleXAException".>

As we understand the message this means that the jdbc resource wrapper crashes with a NPE.
Are there any hints on this situation ?
Regards
Nikolaus RummAdditional information:
We use Hibernate as the persistence layer. The problem arises when the application detects a business problem and calls setRollbackOnly() on the session bean's ejb context, followed by a "throw ApplicationException" (extends java.lang.Exception).
When we use unchecked exceptions for business exceptions (which violates the EJB spec) everything works fine. -

I think the problem is in jdbc
but exhausted my ideas on how to fix
this
where:
ODI already reinstalled 11
checked path in SO (JAVA_HOME, ODI_JAVA_HOME am using C: \ Program Files \ Java \ bin \ jdk1.6.0_23)
ORACLE_CLASSES am using C: \ oracle \ product \ 10.2.0 \ client_1 \ jdbc \ lib \ ojdbc14.jar
and
ORACLE_HOME is using C: \ oracle \ product \ 10.2.0 \ client_1
My OS is windows vista business (the client machine odi11)
connecting to the database oracle11
have any suggestions for a procedure, something that did not, forgot or did not even know.
Thank you.Hi Ankit Jain
yes it's the second option,
exactly the error occurs when I click the icon to select the repository of work - work_dev
then this exception is generated
=
I select for the field
Drivers List -
the value >> Oracle JDBC Driver
and then is placed in the Driver Name field
value>> oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver
and after I put a URL
jdbc: oracle: thin: @ (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP) (HOST = sss.rrr3.ttttj.ggg.br) (PORT = 1521)) (CONNECT_DATA = (SERVER = DEDICATED) (SERVICE_NAME = RRR3) ))
It should say
that
This is occurring on a machine, but others the same configuration is working
I think it's something of the environment on this machine,
but no longer know what to test
grateful for your attention. -
I am unable to get a connection with my ipad with my wifi router. Will I need to upgrade my router
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app
• Tap on Wi-Fi
• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Exmpl of Servlet connect with ORacle
Hi folks,
Can anyone send me example of Java Servlet connectivity with Oracle.
i m not able to connect servlet with oracle.
u guys can reply me on [email protected]
thanks
dal hitNo.
The code for connecting to Oracle from a Servlet is no different from connecting to Oracle from any other Java application. So tell you what, you show us what you've tried and the error message(s) and we'll help you debug it.
99.999% of the time it's a failure to put the driver Jar file into the classpath, the specifics of which vary from application server to application server. Which one are you using?
u guys can reply me on [email protected]
We can, but we won't. This is not your personal bugfixing service. Pay if you want that kind of help. If you want it for free, do it through the forums or go away.
Probably you'll never read this response, but that's your problem not mine.
