Problem in linking button with videos in C6
This is what I tried to do in Captivate 6…
I created two separate video demos and saved them (ext *.cpvc). Let's call them as P1 and P2.
I created a third project P3, which has a slide with two buttons on it.
Then I linked each button in P3 to P1 and P2 respectively.
Next I published the project P3. After I published it I copied P1 and P2 in the callees folder of the published project P3, so that when I run the slide and click the buttons the respective video demos P1 and P2 should appear as per the settings.
But, instead of P1 and P2 opening, I get an error message saying that, “The file not found in the specified location. Please check the path or internet location.”
I had following doubts in my mind regarding this message…
Are the video demos linked to the buttons with the correct extension? I have linked the *.cpvc files to the buttons.
I copied the video demos to the callees folder. Is this the correct thing to do? Or is there any other place where I should have copied the two linked demos?
Or is it not feasible at all to call a video demo using a button on a slide in captivate?
I am in deadly hurry to knock this down. Please help me showing these videos.
Although linking between normal cptx-files can be done by pointing to the cptx, I don't believe that is possible with cpvc files.
My work flow should have been totally different: I would have created a recording slide both for P1 and P2 in the P3 file but that is now not possible anymore. You cannot insert a CPVC raw file in a CPTX-file (hope it will be possible in the future).
Since you already have the cpvc-files, I am afraid that you'll have to publish to MP4 and link to the published files, or insert them as animations.

One would think so, but unfortunately not, as you have to use a combination of actionscript in your flv creation and javascript on the browser side to do this.
If you have a working solution in flash, it would probably be easier to insert this into your dreamweaver page and ensure that the links to your videos are relative to the position of the files in your html page.

hi everyone
i had this problems and i don't know if is for my fault or is something related to a bug
i made an animation with a video ( i try it before just with an mp4, but later i add also the OGV in the same Group ) and one object , if you click on the object you launch a website link on a different windows and the video and the stage are in PAUSE, if you click again the video the video START.
it's very simple and on the web preview ( and on the export for WEB package ) all works properly, but if i want to view by the Adobe content viewer APP on my connected ipad ( via indesign ) i'm not able to see the video i just see the poster image and the object ( with the working link, that launch a new tab in the APP), but NOT the video in background!

Web Link Buttons with Variable URLs

I asked my question earlier in the general InDesign section of the forum, but a helpful user suggested I repost it here as it will take some scripting magic to accomplish:
My work assignment of late has been developing an interactive PDF catalog of our products that my superior can distribute digitally and let potential customers browse without accessing the website.
We have an Excel file that lists all the details of our products - name, description, title, image, category, etc. I have used Data Merge to create this 300 page document rather than hand-copy each product's information to a single page.
Unfortunately I am now stuck - I have designed the catalog in such a way that I have an image that I want to make a button which, if the person wishes to purchase a product, will take them directly the the product page online where he or she can add it to the shopping cart. This is great, but I cannot seem to find a way to make the image button's link a variable as the rest of the page content. Links to each product page are included in the CSV file, but without a variable web link method, I would have to create the unique links individually, which kinda defeats the purpose of using Data Merge anyway.
So my question is this - is there any way to make a URL button (an image) have a web link function that can read from a CSV file and change each page like other imported content? If not, is there another way to automate the individual link process without setting it up on each generated page?

AsherHuh, that error seems really mysterious. (I had assumed your initial problem was from targetting the ESTK instead of targetting ID, and when you said "hangs at the for loop" you meant the actual "for(..." line.) I'd be curious...if you run the broken version and after it hangs, try typing in the JavaScript console:

In CS5, script labels got a bit more annoying to use. I think you might be better off using text box names instead.
Name the text box in the Layers panel by click-pause-click-ing it (wow, what an unfamiliar UI!) and assigning a name to it.
Suppose you name it "url".
Then instead of "p.textFrames[0]" (or p.textFrames.item(0)), you can use "p.textFrames.itemByName('url')".
Hopefully this doesn't get messed up across the data merge.
To use the script label, you need this horrid construction:

Calibrated{Q} MXF Import not linking audio with video automatically
Dear all,
I am trying Calibrated{Q} MXF Import demo for Mac to import my old MXF files used for Avid system before to FCP. As the files were set for Avid, so the P2 file structure no more exists, and I have to import the file directly from the Avid MediaFiles/MXF/(number) folder.
Yet, when I import a video MXF file into FCP, it doesn't automatically link the audio. I did put a tick mark next to Join Audio Files to Video in Calibrated{Q} MXF Options.
Did I make any mistake, or I just have to put all five video and audio files together on a sequence to sync up myself?

Kingthe company told me that as the P2 file structure is gone, the audio files won't be automatically joined the video file. In other words, I have to sync them up by myself.

I have a requirement where i want to link buttons with different values in a jsp...
F.eg i have {a=0,b=1,c=2} values inserted in a hashtable....and i am displaying only the keys(a,b,c) on the screen using jsp....
now i want to associate a remove button with each of these so that when i click on 'a''s remove.....a=0 gets removed from the hashtable and so on.....
i can click on any key value's remove button whenever i want...how can i link one particular remove button to its variable????

Problems with buttons in video
Hi there,
I did a project with only one slide with a slide video and a few klickable buttons. So, I want to create an interactive video with all interaction within the videoplayer, so that one can watch the video fullframe.
Klick on a button stops the video and calls a picture, which I put in the timeline of the slide video in a seperate layer. Here is the extended action, which is called by clicking on the button
When klicking on the called picture, the picture disappears and the video resumes. Here is the advanced action, which is called by clicking on the picture:

Problems:
1. When the video resumes after klicking first on a button and then on the called picture and you want to go back in the video-timeline and klick the button a second time, the button don't appear a second time (or the picture appears instead of the button)
2. The button around 6:30 never appears but every time, the picture which should be called by klicking the button appears directly. I use the same kind of advanced action like at all other buttons, but it don't work:
I think about, if my strategy of putting all on one slide, is right...
...maybe it would be better to call a seperate slide by clicking on the buttons, and not a picture on the timeline of the slide with the slide video. But: I didn't found a way to jump back to the exact position of the slide video, from where the picture is called. Is there any possibility to do that?
Has anybody an idea, what to do, so that all buttons work reliable in the intended way?

I'm using version 32 of the viewer in DPS Folio Properties. I'll describe what I made:
I created an MSO and Scrollable Frame on one page. Inside the MSO are 13 states. Inside the Scrollable Frame are buttons that link to each MSO state.
When I tested it on the latest Content Viewer on my iPad Air, the Scrollable Frame works. The buttons also work, they're able to change the state of the MSO -- BUT ONLY when the Scrollable Frame is STILL, not in motion.
This is the problem: When the Scrollable Frame is in motion and I want to stop the motion as well as tap the Button that I want to go to, the tap does not change the MSO state. But the Click state of the button does change (Normal state: purple, Click state: light purple). Then when I try to tap the button again, or any other button that is in view, the entire Scrollable Frame freezes.
When I tested this on the Desktop, it works perfectly. The Buttons are able to change the MSO states when I tap them, even as the scrollable frame is in motion.
Why does this not work on the iPad?
PS. I tested all viewer versions from 20-32 on DPS and I still get the same problem.

I've got a linked button in a column within a matrix that shows Sales Order Document Numbers. I've set it to link to the Sales Order form using the following code:

The problem I've got though is that if the Sales Order is created with a manually entered Document Number I get the following error when clicking on the linked button.:
"You are not permitted to perform this action [Message 200-30]"
I guess the reason it is happening is that the DocEntry and DocNum are different and the Linked Button is using the DocEntry as reference to which Sales Order needs to be opened when the linked button is pressed.
Is there anyway to stop this from happening and for the Linked Button to function as normal even if the Sales Order has a manually entered document number? So is there a way to allow the Linked Button to link through to a Sales Order using the DocNum not the DocEntry?

Button Link Transitions with Audio?
Ive got a question on what can be used as a Button Transition. I have a 10 sec. AV in PP2, that I want to use. In general, no problems. Ive Exported the Video to DV-AVI (silent), and it works beautifully. I only have to do a blend from the Menu for the head and then a still from the Timeline at the tail. No biggie. What I am having problems with is getting an SFX Audio file into the PP2 Sequence for this Transition. So far, I am having problems. I tried to make a Timeline for this AVI with an AC3 Audio, but Encore2 would not allow a link to it, via the Pickwhip. I tried to Import several variations of muxed files, but kept getting errors with the number of channels on Import. Then, I did a muxed MPEG file, and got my first big "Crash" of Encore2. When I linked to the M2v, I got something about Abbie Normal Condition. Wasnt he the founder of the Yippies back in the 60s, along with poet, Allen Ginsberg? The error (really An Abnormal Condition... Please try to Save... ) came up and I could not even exit from Encore2. Had to finally use TaskManager to kill the Process. This was a first for me after all of these years. Lesson - do not use the M2v as a Button Transition!
Now, Im certain that there are possibilities that I have not tried, but before I beat what could be a dead horse, I wanted to find out one thing: can I even have Audio in a Button Transition?
I have total control over my Asset, so I can engage in any workaround necessary. If anyone has any info (Help/Manual do not go deeply into specifics on Button Transitions, and even Jeffs Book, Focal Easy Guide... doesnt mention them, as I can find.), Id greatly appreciate it. Same for any ideas on using Audio for these. In my case, its a bit of an electronic whoosh with a long gong tone, and moves left to right and rear to front to rear (in the 5.1 version). I do not need to do 5.1, as stereo, panned left to right would work fine too.

Thanks for the simple little test. I just linked my existing SFX AC3 to the Main Menu's Audio and it worked fine. The pan/fade of the 5.1 was intact and worked in Preview.
I Exported the Button Transition test as a DV-AVI/PCM WAV from PP2, and Imported as a Timeline into Encore2. Tested and it played fine, but there was just the left-right pan, as expected. Linked my Button #1 to the AVI, as it would not link to the Timeline (as before), and went to Preview - "An Abnormal Condition... Save... " happened again. It is obviously not just the M2v, but the AVI, as well.
Back to square one in my tests. I've been working with a preliminary, test Project in Encore. It was used to create a DVD set for client review of most other aspects of the Project. It contained 4 Dynamic Links to AE, which were rendered out, plus 2 Menus a short lead-in AVI and some other Assets. Without any Button Transitions, it previewed and burned perfectly.
What I am going to do now is create a fresh Encore2 Project. Initially, it will only have the Play First AVI, the two Menus (Main & Scene Selection) and then I'll work with just the Button Transitions - all other Assets will not be included. I want to eliminate any other possible problem from the mix.
One thing that occurred to me was that this Project was a very full DVD. Though the Transcode is Automatic, I wonder if I am now adding too much to an already Transcoded Project. Rather than clear all Caches, and Revert to the unTranscoded state in this Project, I'll build, instead, from scratch. If that works, I'll just do the Button Transitions for the Scene Select Menu (4 Buttons/Links) and test again. If it still goes well, I'll add in the Rendered AE files and probably not use DL this time. Then, I'll Transcode and test to see if it all holds up. This method will not tell us exactly where the problem lies, if it works at all, but then when I have time, I can go back and clean Caches and Revert the Assets for a final test.
To date, the motion-only Button Transitions worked fine. It was only when I have tried (several different schemes) to add Audio, that I have encountered the problem.
Should have the preliminary test this AM, as the Project is very simple and starting over is not a big deal.
One side observation that I have made is that after I had to use TaskManager to end the Encore2 Process the other day, it now takes Encore2 a few minutes to even get the Splash Screen up. This is new behavior. I also cannot shift focus to/from Encore2 (with PP2 open), by clicking on the icon in the Taskbar. Even Rt-clicking and choosing Restore does not Maximize it. Only by going to TaskManager and clicking on the Application does it Maximize. As this was my first Encore2 "Crash," I am not sure what might be happening there. If I can get this Project done, I'll probably do a Repair Installation of Encore2, to see if the new behavior subsides.

Bug in flex 4, with truncating the link button and labels
hey guys.. so my application has a popupanchor, and in that popup anchor i have multiple linkbuttons... and for some reason no matter what i try, it truncates all the link buttons, as well as the labels on accordions.
i know that the button is not in a group with small width... ive also tried wrapping the link button in a group with a width of 500, and still the link button gets truncated...
any ideas on how to fix this problem??

URGENT! Help with creating more than one linked button

It works just fine, but the problem is that I want to add more buttons (and links) to it, and thats where I get stuck. When I try just adding a new layer and adding the code there, everything stops working. I've also tried copy/pasting the code beneath the first one, with no results.

I've got buttons (with a mouse over effect that shows the name of the plant), and in AS2 I could use GetURL to link an invisible button to the URL, but to create the sliding effect, I had to use AS3. I've understood that GetURL doesn't work in AS3.
In scene 1 I have three layers; content, arrows and actions.

On the content layer I have the backgroundimages that slides as a movieclip.
If I doubleclick on the movieclip I have two layers, one with the bakground images and the invisible buttons, and one layer where I've put the script:

JC is the instance name of one of my buttons. So far everything works, but I want to add linking to another button, and I'm not sure how to do this correctly. When I've created the invisible buttons, I've drawn a square, converted it to a button, named it, and named the instance name. Changed the Alpha to 0. I've also added an On mouse over effect, but I don't think that has anything to do with this.

Keynote slides with video - not linking in Ibooks Author

I have a problem with linking Keynote slides containing videos in Ibooks author. I am using the latest version of both programs on Yosemity (6.5.2 keynote, Ibooks Author 2.2 )
The keynotes is set up with ‘Links Only’ and it works perfectly in Keynote. In Ibooks author the ‘link only’ is not working and the slides just progresses to next one. Like the Presentation type was set to normal, whether or not I press the link or outside the link. The exact same keynote slides without the video doesn’t have this problem and links perfectly in Ibooks Author. The result is the same testing the Ibook directly on the Mac or on the Ipad Air (8.1.2)
To make sure about the video types I tried a number of different ones (different Mac/Ipad video conversion programs) all with the same result. The result is also the same whether it plays ‘on page’ or ‘full-screen’ in the Ibook. The videos all plays perfectly but the links are not working.
Saving the keynote to 09 seemed to solve the problem. I am new to Ibooks author …. And the whole Mac environment. But I am thinking it’s supposed to work without having to do this????
The same happened when I tested a linked keynote example from Lynda.com. ‘Ibooks essential training’. Only in the 09 version it was working with the links, when the slides had videos. This example was off course also created in an earlier Keynote version.
Niles , DenmarkThis is a problem that I've reported both here and via bugreport.apple.com. However, I don't think that it has to do with screen resolution (retina/non-retina). Rather, I think it has to do with setting the widget to "full screen" where transport controls cannot be used and selecting a "Links Only" presentation.
I used simple forward and back arrows set (Control-click on object) to go to next slide or previous slide. What I found was that while this works as designed when played back in Keynote (OS X or iOS) but not in the Keynote widget. The links only setting and these hyperlinks are totally ignored in the Keynote widget. Tapping anywhere went to the next slide. Tapping on the back arrow also went to the next slide,
