Problem in opening XLF file

Hi,
I had created a dashboad.  I am now not able to open the file.  Gives an error "Crystal xcelsius is unable to load this file.  This file may be corrupt or have features that cannot be supported by this version of crystal reports".  Then gives an error "Problem Accessing Excel: Exiting" and then it throws me out.
I have tried
1.  giving 'Full control' to 'everyone' for MS Office.
2.  Re-installing Xcelsius
Still it doesn't work.
Note: Other XLF files opens without any problem.
Can anyone suggest solution for this problem?
Thanks & Regards,
RashmiG

Rashmi,
It seems the problem lies with the fact that you are trying to open the xlf created on a higher version product in a lower one. Please check this.
... or there are two instances of excel open in the background, one of which can be killed through the Task Manager.
Otherwise, you can call the support guys and they can check for any other incompatibilities.
Best Luck!!!

    I have a problem with opening downloaded files from the internet; zip types. Can you tell me an app to open these types of formats of files?

    It should unzip if you double-cick.
    What are you seeing happen when you do that?
    Select a .zip file in the Finder and Get Info (cmd-i). What is set for it to Open With. It should be Archive Utility.

  • Problem with opening a file in its application using Runtime

    Dear experts,
    excuse me for my ignorance, but I am facing a problem and I would really
    appreciate some help. I am working on a java program in which I want the user
    to have the ability to save the contents of a JTable into a file of his preference (the file could be of any type i.e xls, txt, doc...) and then open this file in its
    default application (i.e the txt file through notepad, the xls file through excel etc..).
    Everything works fine with the code below, if the filePath does not contain blank spaces. I did some search on the forun and the web, and also tried to
    find a solution through the great link
    http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/jw-12-2000/jw-1229-traps.html but I still
    cannot solve the problem. Below I quote the part of the code (actually the actionPerformed dunction of the equivallent button) which is responsible for the opening of the file.
        excelButton.addActionListener(new ActionListener()
           public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e)
             //saveFileName is the File that I want to open
             String filePath = "\""+saveFileName.toString()+"\"";
             System.out.println(""+filePath);
             try
              String cmd="cmd.exe /C start "+filePath;
              String cmd="cmd.exe /C start C:\\Documents and Settings\\test.xls";
              Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(cmd);
             }catch(IOException ec){}
         });Thank you in advance for your help!
    Sincerely yours,
    JIM

    Dear BillBlalock ,
    thank you for answer!! You are very kind and helpful!! I would like to inform everybody that I have finally find another way of soilving my problem and I announce it to the forum in case somebody else encounters the same problem. Well, I soved the nproblem by using the following code:
        excelButton.addActionListener(new ActionListener()
           public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e)
             String filePath = "\""+saveFileName.toString()+"\"";
             System.out.println(""+filePath);
             try
               String cmd="explorer "+filePath;
               Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(cmd);

    You need to manually install the 10.6.2 "Combo" version, there were problems with just using the regular update.

  • Problem with opening PDF files in Google Chrome browser

    We have a web page displaying links to dynamically generated PDF files located on the internal repository. This files are not just text PDF files but PDF forms created using XFA technology. This means that they must be opened and filled only in Adobe Reader and not in Foxit Reader or browser's built-in PDF viewer.
    Now, the problem is that a Google Chrome browser opens any PDF file using its own PDF viewer. And I want to force this browser to open PDF files in Adobe Reader.
    How can I achieve this without disabling 'Chrome PDF Viewer' plugin since I can't do this for all users of our web site?
    Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
    P.S. We use LiveCycle ES3.

    Each user would have to set each browser individually.
    Note: I don't think it's possible to set the default PDF viewer with code for every user who visits the site.
    See the following link to enable Adobe Reader as the default PDF viewer in different browsers:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/display-pdf-browser-acrobat-xi.html
    Note: Not all PDF viewer browser plug-ins support PDF submissions, and most 3rd party viewers may not support forms created with LiveCycle or forms with Extended Reader Rights enabled.

  • Problem on opening pdf file in IE inline (through streaming method)

    Hello
              I had a problem opening pdf file at IE through streaming. I create a page
              that have a hyperlink to open the new window and talk to a serlvet. When
              clicked, this serlvet will stream a pdf file from the file server to serlvet
              output stream. And the pdf file will be displayed within the browser.
              The problem comes that I can see the Acrobat Reader trailer screen display
              but the brower show nothing. I click refresh button to that serlvet to
              reload then it come up the content.
              Is anyone have the same trouble on this and any solution will be

    Hello Rondy,
              You vae set mime type to application/pdf, which is good. But IE doesn't care
              of it !
              And I think your URL is too long because and I'm sure it leads to a buffer
              overflow (as they say at MS in their bug report).
              So as a workaround, you can rename your servlet mapping from Ecd/Download to
              Ecd/Download.pdf if you can, or make the URL length much more smaller.
              Try to go to MS site to find what is the precise bug#. I can't remember what
              it its number.
              I hope you'll find a solution.

  • Problem in opening ".pps" file from jsp

    My ".pps" file is on server i want to open this file on client side in microsoft office or inside IE.
    But right now all other types of file are opening except ".pps".

    i am retrieving the path of the file in "filepath" variable.
    Anybody plz help me regarding this. Or any different solution.</a>

    I am using plane link to open the file. No streaming is used.OK, then it's certainly a client-side problem. The client simply doesn't recognize the file type and/or it has no application associated with the filetype. No need to worry about it at the server side.
    And i don't know how to set accociation on client side. Windows explorer Tools Map options File types.

  • Problems in Opening Any File in IE 5.5?

    The problem is that if you run on IE, what you will see is that when the user clicks on an Excel/Word/any file to open it. The excel file opens directly in the browser. This 'emulation' of excel... in the
    browser does not work. In other words, it seems to me that, in Netscape, by default, it uses an "External Viewer" to open files according to the following code (namely, files can be opened completely in a separate window!). The very same code in IE 5.5, however, uses an "Internal Viewer" to open the files (namely, only open inside a frame, not in a separate window. So half way only!). How to fix the code slightly to make it work equally well in IE 5.5?
    Thanks millions! The code is attached here.

    It's like this:
    Nothing you do in the HTML or JavaScript in the browser or on the server will change what the browser does with a given file type. Any browser will do one of 3 things, in this order, with any given file:
    1) Determine if the browser can display the file itself, such as for HTML files or certain image types. If so, it displays it.
    2) Else, determine if there is a registered plug-in to handle that specific file type. If so, load the plug-in and give it the file.
    3) Else, ask the user to save the file or select an external application to view the file, or cancel (don't download).
    Using blank as a target for links does nothing to change this behavior.  All blank targets do is tell the browser to open a new browser window and "open" the link URL in that new browser window, as opposed to opening in the same window. It still goes thru the same 3 steps, regardless.
    Later versions of Excel and Word will, in effect, register as plug-ins for IE, but not for Netscape. Because of this, those file types will open in Excel or Word inside the browser window, as a plug-in. This plug-in mode is still the same as the standalone version of the program. Unless there are settings in Excel or Word to unregister this plug-in mode, then there's nothing you can do. But these settings would not be changeable by the web server or web page, the user would have to change it themselves, if they can/want.
    The ONLY other option is to rename the file extension (cuz IE often ignores mime-type and uses extension) and use "application/octet-stream" as the mime-type of the file, from the server. The effect is that the browser will ask the user to save it, where they would have to rename it to the right extension.
    My recommended solution:
    I'm assuming that foremost, you don't want the user to have to leave the page the links are on. This is why you use the _blank target.  This will pass the file or link to a new browser window.  Beyond that, you have no other control what happens.  Are you assuming/enforcing somehow that all users are using IE, and they have Excel or Word installed in the first place?  Or that they are newer versions which even have this plug-in capability.  There's no true way to enforce what I think you think you want to do.

  • Problem with opening PDF files from JSF page using SDO

    Hi all,
    I'm new with JSF and was attempting to read a PDF file from a Database using SDO and JSF. The code below throws an exception when casting from DataObject to Blob. The getLcDoc() method was created by WSAD when I dragged an SDO relational record onto the JSF page. This method returns an DataObject type which I tried casting to a Blob type before using it further. However, an exception is thrown.
    Any feedback is appreciated.

                   FacesContext faces = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
                   HttpServletResponse response =(HttpServletResponse) faces.getExternalContext().getResponse();
                   Blob file= (Blob)getLcDoc().get("ATTACH");
                   int iLength = (int)(file.length());
                   response.setHeader("Content-type", "application/pdf");
                   response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "inline; filename=Attachment");
                   response.setHeader("Expires","0");
                   response.setHeader("Cache-Control","must-revalidate, post-check=0, pre-check=0");
                   response.setHeader("Pragma","public");
                   response.setContentLength(iLength);
                   ServletOutputStream os = response.getOutputStream();
                   InputStream in = null;
                   in = file.getBinaryStream();
                   byte buff[] = new byte[1024];
                   while (true) {
                   int i = in.read(buff);
                   if (i<0) break;
                   os.write(buff,0,i);
                   os.flush();

    Hi...I found out that there is actually no need to use a Blob object at all. You can simply call the OutputStreams write() method and pass the DataObject.getBytes() method that returns a byte[] array. The revised code is shown at the end of this posting.
    However, a few other teething problems exist:
    1. This works well only if I specify the content type in response.setHeader() method. What if my users upload different types of files, is there a way that the browser opens according to the file type without setting the content type?
    2. I still have a problem opening PDF files, even if I specify - response.setHeader("Content-type", "application/pdf");
    I get the message - The file is damaged and could not be repaired
    3. I would also like this to open the attachment in a new window and using target="_blank" doesn't seem to work as seen below:
    <h:commandLink
                                                 styleClass="commandLink" id="link1" action="#{pc_DocumentDetailsRead.doLink1Action}" target="_blank">
                                                 <h:outputText id="text5" styleClass="outputText"
                                                      value="Click Here"></h:outputText>
                                            </h:commandLink>
    ------------------------Revised code-----------------------------------------
    FacesContext faces = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
                   HttpServletResponse response =(HttpServletResponse) faces.getExternalContext().getResponse();
                   response.setHeader("Content-type", "application/msword");
                   response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "inline; filename=Attachment");
                   response.setHeader("Expires","0");
                   response.setHeader("Cache-Control","must-revalidate, post-check=0, pre-check=0");
                   response.setHeader("Pragma","public");
                   ServletOutputStream os = response.getOutputStream();
                   os.write(getLcDoc().getBytes("ATTACH"));
                   os.flush();
                   os.close();
