Hi,
I am new to 3 tier development. I am trying to create a form on above Oracle Forms Builder & run on windows 2003 32bit.
My problem is.
When I run the form , first time it runs opening a iexplorer. Once I exit & re-run the iexplorer ends up with some html codes but not with the form.
I noticed that there is htm got created in my temp directory & when I run for the 2nd time a file gets created with the Same name but extension is different (1htm, 2htm)
Please try to help my out.
Regards, Shaamil.

Try the following solutions :
1) Check on in IE -> Tools -> Internet Options -> advanced -> allow active content to run in files on My Computer
2) Make sure that you have in the Internet Explorer Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced tab -> Check the check box
Enable third party Browser extensions. It will be under browsing.

  • List Of Values problem while running a form

    Hi all,
    Actually I had developed a form in Forms 4.5. If I connect to the Personal Oracle Database on the same machine, then it is working properly. But if I connect to Oracle server across network and try to run the form, then a message is coming ' F45RUN - The program you are trying to running had problem. Choose ''Close'' or ''Ignore'''. It is giving error of that sort.
    Actually the form has two list items, which will have the values selected from the database. If I comment out the statements 'Populate_list(....)', then the form is opening for runtime. What could be the problem??
    Thanks in Advance.
    Badarinath ([email protected]) If someone could mail me, then it would be even helpful.

    Hi Badrinath,
    I couldn't underestand the exact problem that you are facing. This may be just because of the different Datase versions. Just try to add "onlogon trigger" to your form having the following code in it:
    logon('username','password@connect_string to the server');
    Fully compile the form and then run.
    Let me know if OK.

    Thanks Robert,
    Thanks for ur reply.
    Yes this has been understood that this is due to the browser's pluginn shortage.
    But ist is not specifing the specific plugin requred.
    I tried the same with netscape .
    It specifies to the '' application/x-java-applet;jpi-version=1.4.2_06 ''
    Now tell me where to and how to get that plugin

  • Scrollbars problem when running a form with Sun Java instead of Jinitiator

    Hi All;
    Our forms are configured to run with the Sun Java instead of
    Jinitiator; functionality wise everything works fine, but when running
    the forms on the web there are 2 extra scrollbars
    (one vertical and one horizontal) in addition of the browser scrollbar.
    Note: This is does not happen when running the same form with Jinitiator (same configurations)
    Anyone encountered this situation or has an idea how to to get ride of the extra scrollbars ???
    Thanks.

    Thanks for your replay.
    I was able to make all forms working without scrollbars when running form developer at the desktop (windows os) without scrollbars
    but when I run them at the application server (Linux Red Hat 3 Enterprise), scrollbars are still there.
    I tried your suggestion but did not help
    here is the formsweb configuration

    form=xxxxx.fmx
    lookandfeel=Generic

    The window get maximized at when-new-form-instance.
    Does it has to do with the canvas or window height and width at the design time????

  • Problems in running a form

    Hi,
    I'm a beginner in using Oracle Forms.
    Once I've created a simple form, I've tried to run it but on the browser I get as URL "http://wi065149.domnt.csi.it:8889/forms/frmservlet" and the message in centre of the page saying "no plugin available to display this content" but it seems there's no way do download anything (I use Google Chrome)
    Is there anything of Java I should download updated?

    Step one is to start here:
    https://blogs.oracle.com/shay/entry/10_commandments_for_the_otn_fo
    If you do not include details, no one will be able to help. Never post a technical question without including the exact error messages displayed, an explanation as to exactly what you are doing and have done, and always include the complete product name and product version numbers of what you are using, and finally always include the platform and versions in use. Oh and remember, the following are NOT product versions. These are product NAMES: *9i, 10g, 11i* Version numbers include decimals (dots): 9.0.4.3, 10.1.2.0, 11.1.1.6, etc
    As for the Forms issue, without most of the above information all I can say is that Forms runs as a java applet and therefore needs a Java Plugin. Depending on exactly which Forms version you are using will depend on exactly which JRE/JPI can be used. In older versions of Forms, Oracle product "Jinitiator", which was an Oracle implementation of the Sun JRE based on java 1.3. Although this can still be used with Forms versions 10.1.2.x and older, it is not recommended as it was desupported long ago. The recommended JRE would be the latest in the 1.6 line, which is 1.6.0_31, however this requires that you be using Forms 10.1.2.3 or newer.
    The configuration for determining which JRE is used is set in formsweb.cfg regardless of which version you are using.

  • Unable to run the form from Form Builder 10g

    HI,
    I am having a problem with running a form with form builder 10g.
    I have create a form with some text boxes to display values in a table.
    When i compile and run the form it does not run The error shown is
    HTTP 403(Forbidden) You are not authorised to view this page.
    The Link used for the above is:
    http://127.0.0.1:1740/sWuCqhMKUT1btA1N5cXLCRshkJzmgKRIlCEUFd9RL520LVq0
    The port number 1740 changes everytime. I dont know why.
    I have started the OC4J instance before starting the Form Builder.
    I have made the changes to the runtime preferences in the form builder.
    http://localhost:8889/forms/frmservlet
    But it doesn't work when i try to run the form from Form Builder.
    ie Program-->Run Form
    The form works properly when using the 'Run a form on the Web Utility' provided with Developer Suite.
    Can anyone please suggest a solution. I have searched the forum but didnot find a solution.
    Thanks
    V.S.

    One of our DBAs has installed the software.
    It was a default installation, I believe, as no configuration was done during the installation except for increasing the virtual memory size.
    Post installation we changed the tnsnames.ora file and the sqlnet.ora file.
    Do i need to configure something ?
    Thanks,
    V.S.

  • Can't run form from Form Builder 10g - Port configuration problem?

    Hi,
    I have installed the Database (10.2.0.1.0) and the Developer Suite (10.1.2.0.2) on two Linux machines (Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES 4 Basic).
    If I enter the frmservlet-URL manually everything seems to be fine.
    In one case I enter http://127.0.0.1:8890/forms/frmservlet, in the other http://127.0.0.1:8889/forms/frmservlet; in BOTH cases I get eventually a dark square and the status bar says "Applet oracle.forms.engine.Main started".
    HOWEVER, if I create a simple form with Form Builder and click on the Button with the green traffic light ("Run Form"), the form runs only on the machine where frmservlet listens on port 8890.
    On the other machine (frmservlet configured to listen on port 8889) Firefox pops up, the URL "http://127.0.0.1:32979/6dOrpwghCqnp8PhMT7KVT533m3IaArqFbPqPBOztZXWYSsNy" gets called, and nothing else happens. The screen displays the string "ORACLE FORMS." and the status bar says "Waiting for 127.0.0.1...", and it stays like this forever.
    I assume this is a port configuration problem, but I don't have a clue where to start.
    Any suggestions how I should proceed are greatly appreciated.
    Thank you very much in advance!

    Hi Frank,
    Thank you for your reply.
    I doublechecked my configuration.
    In the dialog Edit --> Preferences --> Runtime the Application Server URL is set to "127.0.0.1:8889/forms/frmservlet".
    However, when I attempt to run the form, the URL "http://127.0.0.1:33140/W2dwbV9eXS2fPkuKlxNhCxFWdEihwDviat2uV7ycrSotqwDN" gets called.
    The screen displays the string "ORACLE FORMS." and the status bar says "Waiting for 127.0.0.1...", and that's it.
    I wonder how the port number 33140 got selected. Interestingly, this time it is a different number; last time it was port 32979. In fact, the port number seems to change each time; I tried again and now it is 33189.
    I will now try to set the port number for the frmservlet to 8890.
    I choose Edit --> Preferences --> Runtime and set the application server URL to "127.0.0.1:8890/forms/frmservlet".
    I stop the container, open /home/oracle/OraHome_1/j2ee/DevSuite/config/default-web-site.xml and change the port number to 8890:
    <?xml version="1.0" standalone='yes'?>
    <!DOCTYPE web-site PUBLIC "Oracle Application Server 10g XML Web-site" "http://xmlns.oracle.com/ias/dtds/web-site.dtd">
    <!-- change the host name below to your own host name. Localhost will -->
    <!-- not work with clustering -->
    <!-- also add cluster-island attribute as below
    <web-site host="localhost" port="0" protocol="ajp13"
    display-name="Default Oracle Application Server 10g Java WebSite" cluster-island="1" >
    -->
    <web-site port="8890" protocol="http"
    display-name="Oracle Developer Suite 10g instance of Oracle Containers for J2EE Web Site">
    <!-- Uncomment the following line when using clustering -->
         <!-- <frontend host="your_host_name" port="80" /> -->
         <!-- The default web-app for this site, bound to the root -->
         <default-web-app application="default" name="defaultWebApp" root="/j2ee" />
    <!-- Do not delete this line. -->
    <web-app application="forms" name="formsweb" root="/forms" />
    <!-- -->
    <!-- <web-app application="forms" name="formsweb" root="/forms" /> -->
    <web-app application ="reports" name="web" root="/reports" />
    <web-app application = "reports" name="demo" root="/repdemo" />
         <!-- Access Log, where requests are logged to -->
         <access-log path="../log/default-web-access.log" />
    </web-site>
    I restart the container, start Form Builder, connect to the database, and open my test form.
    When attempting to run the form, the URL "http://127.0.0.1:33437/Pl0n3ky9vmU5z37A7ScBnQhsGwq3jwuzJpgTAKWPMOYIzT8K" gets called (again a new port number, apparently picked radomly within a certain range) and nothing happens: "Waiting for 127.0.0.1...".
    However, when I enter the URL http://127.0.0.1:8890/forms/frmservlet I do (eventually, after confirming that I trust the certificate etc.) get a darc rectangle and the status message "Applet oracle.forms.engine.Main started", which tells me that my setup can't be that far off target.

    Yes, I have replace the userid with scott/tiger@orcl with i6menu/i6menu@vbs and also replace the OAS server's name as you have suggested.
    declare
         REP_URL varchar2(2000);
    begin
    REP_URL:= '/reports/rwservlet?userid=i6menu/i6menu@vbs&report=testrep_10g.rdf&desformat=pdf&destype=cache&paramform=no';
    WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT(REP_URL,'_BLANK');
    end;
    I had the 2nd code also but both r not working on my machine ......... !!
    I have made the following setting on my machine:
    1. Registry -> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE-> ORACLE-> KEY_DevSuiteHome1->FORMS_PATH ->
    Values is : D:\vision_soft\VSS\exe
    2. Registry -> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE-> ORACLE-> KEY_DevSuiteHome1->REPORTS_PATH ->
    Values is : D:\vision_soft\VSS\exe
    3. Entry made in the DevSuiteHome_1\forms\server ->default.env
    FORMS_PATH=D:\vision_soft\VSS\exe
    4. Entry made in the DevSuiteHome_1\reports\confr ->rwservlet.properties
    #SERVER= rep10
    As my forms is working well & but the report are not able to call.

    Loading http://abc:8889/forms/java/printtext.jar from JAR cache
    This tells me you are using a 3rd party or locally developed Java Bean to perform some type of print function. Is this correct?
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: java.io.IOException: open HTTP connection failed.Does your printtext.jar Java Bean need to open an HTTP connection in order to print?
    Have you been able to print in the past using this Java Bean? Where did you get the Java Bean?
    RegisterWebUtil - Loading WebUtil Version 10.1.2.0Your form appears to be using WebUtil. Has it been successfully configured?
    Honestly, you need to list the following minimum information when you post a question; it gives us all or most of the information we need to help you and it eliminates the need for us to ask for this information. Please always include:
    * Forms Version (eg; 10.1.2.0.0 not 10g)
    * Java Version
    * Client OS version
    * What you were doing when the error occured.

    Did you have the same problem when you directly run the form within the application server?
    Try to tnsping the SID of the database directly within the application server.

  • Problem about using Oracle Form 6i to connect Oracle Database 10g express.

    Sorry to interrupt all of you.
    I have encountered a problem about using Oracle Form 6i to connect Oracle Database 10g express.
    As I would like to
    I use Oracle Net8 Easy Config to create a connection.
    According to "tnsnames.ora", the paramater of connection is as follows;
    XE =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 127.0.0.1)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA = (SID = XE))
    Unfortunately, when I use Oracle Net8 Easy Config to test the connection, an error message is prompted as follows:
    Connecting....
    The test did not succeed.
    ORA-03106: fatal two-task communication protocol error
    There may be an error in the fields entered
    or the server may not be ready for a connection.
    You can check the server and retry, or continue.
    After I google it, I still have no idea how to solve the problem. I would like to ask, could anyone mind providing some hints or solution to address the issues.
    Thanks for your assistance in advance.

    I don't believe the Net8 Easy Config (NEC) will create a compatible entry in the tnsnames.ora. I have Forms 6i running successfully against a 10g Express database, but I did not use the NEC - I created the entry myself. Here is the entry I use:
    XE=
      (DESCRIPTION=
        (ADDRESS=
          (PROTOCOL=TCP)
          (HOST=<<servername or IP address>>)
          (PORT=1521)
        (CONNECT_DATA=
          (SERVER=dedicated)
          (SERVICE_NAME=XE)
      )Hope this helps,
    Craig B-)

  • Configuring Forms Builder 10g to run (Ctrl-R) against application server

    I would like to run forms from my working directory against our development application server and config, rather than having a local OC4J running. I have configured this by setting the application server URL runtime preference to "http://<server>.<domain>:80/forms/frmservlet?config=dev". This works fine.
    However, when I run the Form, I get "FRM-40010: Cannot read form H:\Neil\TAF00180.fmx". This is because we open our FMBs from a locally mapped drive (i.e. I opened the FMB from H:\Neil\TAF00180.fmb). When run against the application server it seems Forms Builder trys to run an executable with the same path as the FMB - H:\Neil\TAF00180.fmx, but the application server has no knowledge of a mapped H-drive.
    The only solution I can think of is to have an H-drive mapped on the application server to the same location as our locally mapped network drive.
    This doesn't seem like the correct solution to me. How should we configure Oracle Forms 10g and the application server to allow us to run our own working versions against the applications server and config?

    Slava Natapov wrote:
    I guess Neil concern is that OC4J and Forms Server are using own formsweb.cfg and .env files
    And settings can be different.
    For example what if local formsweb.cfg configured to run Jinitiator, but server formsweb.cfg configured for JPI, or they configured with different lookandfeel parameter, or local and server default.env use different NLS_DATE_FORMAT?Hi Slava, Hi Neil
    I think this is more related to "discipline" for the developers....
    @ Neil : How many developers do you have in your team ?
    Are developers allowed to "customize" their formsweb.cfg and .env files ?
    or more customized basejinit.htm, registry.dat, additional jar files ... etc
    or more using different oracle_home for their installation of Developer Suite.
    @ Slava : Using local formsweb.cfg and .env files might not be a problem if every developer machine is installed the same way (i.e. the same oracle_home).
    Also, I don't think that using workingDirectory to network shared connection for each developer is a solution
    [dev1]
    workingDirectory= H:/dev1
    [dev2]
    workingDirectory= H:/dev2
    And at least this is requiring customized *.env files ! as the forms_path should be set for runtime in it for each developer.
    The registry entry is only for the builder to find the path to mmb and pll files for example, and compile well, but the runtime is using *.env files.
    And what about developing in windows and deploy it to linux ?
    I recently managed a project with junior and undisciplined developers. The boss had the same concern about each network drive per developer.
    My concern was how to eliminate all subjective considerations..
    And my answer was "Subversion" no mess with local or network version with the "copy of the copy of the copy of the fmb files".
    So all forms_path were set to C:\myApp\forms etc and each developer made a checkout and commit versions twice a day.
    And the Application Server was also "checked out" to have the latest revision and then ran it into a pre-version for production.
    If I had to make some important changes in the *.olb file or the *.pll files then I made a commit for all developers and then re-compile all *.fmb and re-commit and checkout again.
    I really don't matter if the developer used jinitiator or jpi but the right working copy.
    And standalone OC4J was enough to make basics tests for each developer.
    More tests were made by project managers at the application server level and then adjustments (if required) where sent to developers.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Jean-Yves

  • Forms/Designer 10g - problem with attached libraries

    I've problem with forms with attached libraries. All of libraries have removed paths. I can run all forms without any problem on my local application server from Forms Builder 9i or Designer 9i. I added all paths in registry FORMS90_PATH. WORKINGDIRECTORY in formsweb.cfg is blank.
    Unfortunately I can't do it with Developer 10g on second workstation. I added all paths in registry FORMS_PATH. WORKINGDIRECTORY in formsweb.cfg is blank too. When form is running I get ORA-06508. I can't store all files (fmb, fmx, pll, plx etc.) in one folder because I've to use CVS. In this case I can't set any folder in WORKINGDIRECTORY.

    Assuming Forms 10.1.2.x, FMX, MMX, PLX, and OLB files are found based on the value of FORMS_PATH which is set in default.env and not the Registry. This applies to runtime only. The Builder uses the Registry.
    Understand that "runtime" refers to any time a form is displayed in a browser, regardless of whether is was started from the Builder or Application Server.
    Also, be aware that if you have FMX, MMX, or PLX files which were created in older versions they must be recompiled using the 10.1.2 compiler.
