Problem in sending arguments in rmi

Question

hi,
i defined a class and sent the object of this class from the rmi client to the server as an argument. the class name is myclass. i have the myclass.class file on the server. then the error info is
java.rmi.MarshalException: error marshalling arguments; nested exception is:
     java.io.NotSerializableException: myclass
could anybody tell me what was happening?

Sorry, I thought you were sending a Class, but you say it is some 'object' in your class. Set up a class that implements java.io.Serializable and stick this 'object' you speak of inside it (like a wrapper). Then send an instance of this new class to the server with your object inside it. Something like this:
  public static class MovieCapsule implements java.io.Serializable {
    public int mode;
    public Object[] data;
    public MovieCapsule() {
      mode = -1;
      data = null;
    public MovieCapsule(int md, Object[] dta) {
      mode = md;
      data = dta;
    // get/set methods omitted, but you might want some here...
