Problem on getting Primary Key in CMP from a Sequence

hi friends,
please examin the code,
// PersonVO.java
public class PersonVO impelemnts java.io.Serializable{
// construtctors
// getter and setter methods
private int id;
private String name;
// PersonEJB.java
abstract public class PersonEJB implements EntityBean{
abstract public void setId(int id);
abstract public void setName(String name);
abstract public int getId();
abstract public String getName();
public int ejbCreate(PersonVO data){
setId(data.getId());
setName(data.getName());
return null;
// Other callback methods
// Application logic methods
Problem :
the field id of the table is a sequence. how can i get the next value from the table in the ejb.
i wand to set that value to the
setid(...) method
instead of
setId(data.getId());
please help......

Why are you defining a primery key class (PersonVO) for your EJB ?
If you have not a compound primary key, you dont need define a primary key class like PersonVO, you just have to define an ejbCreate (int id).

  • Problem in getting the function template object from the repository.

    Hi all,
    I have created a par file. I have a JCO connection in that. I am facing problems in getting the function template object from the repository. This thing is running successfully when i try to deploy it in Tomcat. But i am facing problems when i try to deploy it in SAP EP 6.0.
    Below is statement which is giving error after being deployed to SAP EP6.
    This is executing fine when executed in Tomcat Server.

    Note : YADDNEWUSER is the name of the RFC which I am calling from my JAVA Code.
    Thanks in advance,

    This sounds like a bug in the smart upload code. I have used this stuff before, but it's probably an older version, so maybe they broke something. Enumerations aren't usually guaranteed to keep things in any particular order. I would say for now, make a method to take the enumeration and a param name to find the value. And write to the JSPSmart people.

  • Problem with the primary key

    Hi All,
    I have a table with the same data repeating 2 times. I mean the rows are depating twice. so now I am creating primary key to the table. It is throwing me an error saying primary key voilation. I will provide the clear scenario.

    As there is NULL in the data It is not allowing me to add the primary key to the table.....
    I am just looking if there is any other way to create primary key with the same data....the reason for the null not allowing you to have unique records is because null means "unknown". I could go into this in more depth but....
    ...again - we need to ask, why do you have linda green and robert black in there twice.
    if you really do need those two extra rows, then create another column with a unique ID using a sequence and make that the primary key. a primary key uniquely identifies a row. for this data I don't see any reason whatsoever to create a composite key like you are attempting.
    by trying to make the entire row a primary key it is clear your understanding is severely lacking.

  • Problem with a primary key when creating a new record in Forms

    My table has a field - MDD_KEY - that is a primary key. It is updated from a sequence with a before-insert database trigger. I know this works properly as the primary key was accurately populated when I inserted 1433 records.
    In Forms 6, I have a form based on that table. I have set the mdd_key as a hidden field because I assume it will be entered by the before-insert trigger. However, when I enter data into the table, and then try to save it, I get a FRM-40202: Field must be entered. - followed by - FRM-40222: Disabled item MDD_KEY failed validation.
    If I set DATA Required to no, when I try to save I get an FRM-40600: Record has already been inserted - but no such record exists in the database. I know this record is unique and does NOT exist because I deliberately made it up.
    In the property palatte, the attributes of the field are:
    DATA Data Type Number
    Required Yes
    DATABASE Database Item Yes
    Primary Key Yes
    Query Only No
    Query Allowed Yes
    Query Length 0
    Insert Allowed Yes
    Update Allowed Yes
    Update Only if Null No
    Lock Record No
    I assume that my problem is that with a new record, the form wants to see the MDD_KEY populated before it saves - but that isn't going to happen until the before insert trigger fires in the database. I assume I have to populate that field within forms, but how do I do that without messing up the database trigger/sequence? I will have to load more data directly into the database - so I need the database trigger in place.
    I have not used primary keys before so I am more than a little bit confused about how and when it should be populated when a new record is created in Forms.
    Any help would be appreciated as I cannot enter new data into my form (works well with existing data).
    Thanks
    Glenn

  • Problems Engineering Surrogate Primary Key with Unique Key

    SDDM 3.3.0.747 with 2 problems (at least so far).  I am hoping that the problem is with this SDDM rookie and I have overlooked some setting. PROBLEM 1 I don’t want to start a religious debate about surrogate vs. natural keys but I am having a problem engineering both correctly from the logical model.  I am a rookie when it comes to SDDM but have many years of experience with Designer. By default I like to have both a natural UID  (UK) and a surrogate key based primary UID (PK) which is used for foreign keys.  The problem I am having with engineering is I can successfully engineer the surrogate PK’s, engineer the FK’s using the PK’s but cannot get the unique key to contain the surrogate keys in the child table.  If I check the identifying property in the relations, the PK columns and the UK columns are included in the child PK and the UK contains no columns. The Setup I have defined two reference entities, PROBABILITY and SEVERITY with natural unique keys defined.  I also have a child entity RISK_ASSESMENT with relationships back to the PROBABILITY and SEVERITY entities and both have the “Use surrogate keys:”: check box checked.  The unique key for the RISK_ASSESMENT entity includes the relationships back to PROBILITY and SEVERITY.  None of the entities have a PK or surrogate key defined and they all have the “Create Surrogate Key” check box checked.  In addition the following preferences are set: Data Modeler/Model/Logical   NOT Checked - Use And Set First Unique Key As Primary Key   NOT Checked – Name – Keep as the name of the Originating attribute   Checked – Entity Create Surrogate Key   Checked – Relationship Use Surrogate Key PROBLEM 2 When the foreign key columns are engineered I want the names to have a prefix “FK_” but they don’t.  Templates are set as follows: Data Modeler/Naming Standard/Templates   Foreign Key:  FK_{child}{parent}   Column Foreign Key:  FK_{ref column} Engineer to Relational Model/General Options   Checked - Apply name translation Marcus Bacon

    I have been switching between SD 4 EA1 and SDDM 3.3 trying to get things to work and trying out the template table for adding audit columns (really nice!).
    Concerning Problem1.  No matter what settings I use and whether I use SDDM 3.3 or SDI cannot get the FK columns to be included in the UK even though the relations are included in the UID in the entitty.  When I open the properties of the child table and click on the naming standards button and click ok it complains that the UK is not complete.  I add the FK columns to the UK and all is well including the naming standards.
    Concerning Problem 2.  Sometimes it engineers the names for FK's from the template and sometimes it doesn't.  Didn't see a pattern.  Gave up trying and used Naming Standards button.  I still had to change a few.
    The good new is, that after make changes needed in UK's and Column names of 18 tables, I know have everything deployed to Test except FK Indexes.  I think I have to do those by hand.

  • Primary keys in CMP

    Hello,
    I have 2 CMP having master and detailed relationship.
    1) BookingMasterBean
    2) BookingDetailsBean
    (having one to many relationship).
    This is to do with a new booking to be made for Squash halls in our application.
    The primary key in Master bean , as well as the details bean get generated by a triggers (on insert) in the database(oracle).
    I have a stateful session bean which handles the booking process( creating entities in both master and details). After create a master entity the key should of the master record should be used as one of CMP field value in the details bean.
    i.e., I need to retreive the generated key once ejbCreate has been executed and should be sent back to the Stateful session bean.
    Can anybody tell me how to do this?

    Whatever you have understood is exactly correct. I am passing a value object as a parameter in the ejbCreate method. The code looks as folows.
    CMP header bean:
    public Integer ejbCreate(BookingHeaderValueObject bookingHeader)
    throws CreateException
    setBookingId(new Integer(bookingHeader.getBookingId()));
    setBookingDate(bookingHeader.getBookingDate());
    setBookingSlot(bookingHeader.getBookingSlot());
    setMemberId(bookingHeader.getMemberId());
    setClubId(bookingHeader.getClubId());
    setHallNumber(bookingHeader.getHallNumber());
    setAccompaniedBy(bookingHeader.getAccompaniedBy());
    setAccompaniedType(bookingHeader.getAccompaniedType());
    setTotalCharges(bookingHeader.getTotalCharges());
    setBookingStatus('B');
    setArrivalStatus('N');
    setDateModified(new Date());
    return getBookingId();
    Session Bean code:
    public void bookSquashHall(BookingHeaderValueObject bookingHeader,
    ArrayList bookingDetails )
    throws RemoteException,
    CreateException, NamingException
    int bookingSerialNo = 0;
    BookingHeaderHome bookingHeaderHome = (BookingHeaderHome)
    getEntityHome("BookingHeaderBean");
    BookingDetailsHome bookingDetailsHome = (BookingDetailsHome)
    getEntityHome("BookingDetailsBean");
    BookingHeader bookingHeaderRemote = bookingHeaderHome.create(bookingHeader);
    if( bookingHeaderRemote != null)
    for( int index = 0 ; index < bookingDetails.size(); index++)
    BookingDetailsValueObject bookingDetailsObj = (BookingDetailsValueObject)
    bookingDetails.get(index);
    bookingDetailsObj.setBookingSlNo(bookingSerialNo+1);
    bookingDetailsObj.setBookingId(bookingHeaderRemote.getBookingId().intValue());
    BookingDetails bookingDetailsRemote = bookingDetailsHome.create(
    bookingDetailsObj);
    bookingSerialNo = bookingDetailsRemote.getBookingSlNo().intValue();
    The following are scripts used to create the table structures :
    create table booking_header (
    bh_bookingid number,
    bh_booking_date date not null,
    bh_booking_slot varchar2(11) not null,

    declare
    newBookingId number;
    begin
    select nvl(max(BH_BOOKINGID)+1, 1) into newBookingId from BOOKING_HEADER;
    :new.BH_BOOKINGID := newBookingId;
    end;
    create table booking_details (

    begin
    select nvl(max(BD_SLNO)+1, 1) into newSlNo from BOOKING_DETAILS;
    :new.BD_SLNO := newSlNo;
    end;
    Should I be defining the ejb relationships in this case.?
    Also I saw in a search from google that we can implement ejbPostCreate to retrieve the primary key if generated by the container. Could I do something like that in order to get back the primary key.
    Is there any better approach for this. I am fairly new to the subject .

  • How to get primary keys in some order with joins?

    Hi, I build BBS using BDB as backend database, forum database, topic database and post database share one environment. This BBS web application is multi-thread program. If user selects one forum, its topics will be listed in order of last reply time;selecting one topic, posts are listed in order of reply time as well.
    struct forum {
    UInt16 forumID;
    string forumName;
    string _lastPoster;      // who is the last one replied in this forum
    struct topic {
    UInt32 topicID;
    UInt16 forumID; // topic comes from this forum
    string title; // topic title
    UInt64 dateOfLastReply; // when last reply to this topic happen
    struct post {
    UInt64 postID;
    UInt32 topicID; // post comes from this topic
    string title; // post title as of topic
    UInt64 dateOfPost; // when this post is created
    I create one primary database and two secondary databases for topic, primary key is topicID, secondary key are forumID and dateOfLastReply respectively, and I want to show 1st 25 topics in latest reply time order on the 1st browser page, 2nd 25 topics on the 2nd browser page, and etc.
    if using SQL, it will be: SELECT topicID FROM topic WHERE forumID=xx ORDER BY dateOfLastReply DESC
    From performance perspective, I want get all topics id of one same forum, and need them come in reply time order, then retrieve topic one by one based on returned topicID, how can I do this? guess I have to use joins.
    Plus, do you have any suggestion about retrieval performance given the fact that topics retrieval will happen each time browser want to request the next page, that is, 2nd 25 topics of this forum?
    Is DB_DBT_MULTIPLE helpful to me?
    thanks.

    Hi tiplip,
    Bellow I will describe how you can support "SELECT * FROM table WHERE X = key ORDER BY Y" queries using Berkeley DB, which, as you suspected, should be done by using a composite index.
    First of all, think of Berkeley DB as the storage engine underneath an RDBMS. In fact, Berkeley DB was the first "generic data storage library" implemented underneath MySQL. As such, Berkeley DB has API calls and access methods that can support any RDBMS query. However, since BDB is just a storage engine, your application has to provide the code that accesses the data store with an appropriate sequence of steps that will implement the behavior that you want.
    If you have two indices in SQL, each on a single column (call them X and Y), and you do:
    SELECT * FROM table WHERE X = key ORDER BY Y;then there are three plausible query plans:
    (1) scan the whole table, ignore both indices, filter by X = key then sort by Y;
    (2) use the index on Y to scan all rows in the required order, filter by X = key;
    (3) use the index on X, find the matching rows, then sort by Y.
    There are cases where (1) would be fastest, because it has all of the columns from one scan (the other query plans will do random lookups on the primary for each row). This assumes that the data can fit into memory and the sort is fast.
    Query plan (2) will be fastest if the selectivity is moderate to high, looking up rows in the main table is fast, and sorting the rows is very slow for some reason (e.g., some complex collation).
    Query plan (3) will be fastest if the selectivity is small (only a small percentage of the rows in the table matches). This should be the best case for us, making it the best choice in a Berkeley DB key/value application.
    The optimal plan would result from having a composite index on (X, Y), which can return just the desired rows in the desired order. Of course, it does cost additional time and space to maintain that index. But note that you could have this index instead of a simple index on X: it can be used in any query the simple index could be used in.
    Records in Berkeley DB are (key, value) pairs. Berkeley DB supports only a few logical operations on records. They are:
    * Insert a record in a table.
    * Delete a record from a table.
    * Find a record in a table by looking up its key.
    * Update a record that has already been found.
    Notice that Berkeley DB never operates on the value part of a record. Values are simply payload, to be stored with keys and reliably delivered back to the application on demand. Both keys and values can be arbitrary byte strings, either fixed-length or variable-length.
    So, in case of a "SELECT * FROM X WHERE id=Y ORDER BY Z" query, our suggestion, from Berkeley DB's point of view, would be for you to use a composite index (as it would be in SQL), where a string created as X_Y should do the trick, as explained in the following scenario.
    Primary:
        X Y
    1 10 abc
    2 10 aab
    3 20 bbc
    4 10 bba
    5 20 bac
    6 30 cbaSecondary:
    10_aab 2
    10_abc 1
    10_bba 4
    20_bac 5
    20_bbc 3
    30_cba 6If the query looks like this:
    'SELECT * FROM primarydb WHERE X = 10 ORDER by Y'the application can run a cursor on the secondary and begin the loop with the DB_SET_RANGE flag on 10. When iterating with DB_NEXT, this will return:
    2 10 aab
    1 10 abc
    4 10 bbcThe application must check for the end of the range inside the loop, in this case it should stop when it hits 20_bac.
    As in SQL, retrieving by a secondary key is remarkably similar to retrieving by a primary key and the Berkeley DB call will look similar to its primary equivalent.

Of course, you can tune the performance at a later time, after you have the functionality in place. What I think you should do first is to increase the cache size and test with a bigger database page size, and maybe to configure the transactional subsystem (in case you use one).

    Hello,
    I am making an application where I have a master-detail page.
    In the detail section it is possible to add new rows using the standard "Add row"-button that the wizard creates.
    The detail section has a column with a link in it. This link leads to another part of the application.
    When I press this link I would like to send the field "Id" of the current detail row to the page which the link redirects to.
    So far I have concluded that the primary key field "Id" of the detail is only filled out after I do a submit. So I have my column link set up to do:
    javascript: doSubmit('NAVIGATE_1');
    In the branching I am testing on the :REQUEST object to see if it contains 'NAVIGATE_1' - I can't seem to get the value from the "Id" field though. I tried to add #ID# in the javascript submit call - but since the "Id" is filled only after I submitted then this doesnt really work at all.
    Does anyone have an idea on how to make this work in APEX ? Its probably some simple thing that I just didnt think of yet ;)
    Kind regards
    Bo Normann

    I found a way. I dont like it - but it works.
    I made a column link in the detail with the following:
    javascript: doSubmit('NAVIGATE@#ROWNUM#);
    This way I obtain information in the :REQUEST object about which row was clicked.
    In a After submit process on the page I then parse this :REQUEST object like this:
    DECLARE
    v_row NUMBER;
    v_pos NUMBER;
    BEGIN
    v_pos := instr(:REQUEST,'@',-1);
    v_row := substr(:REQUEST, v_pos+1);
    IF APEX_Application.g_f02(v_row) IS NOT NULL THEN
    :P_PRIMARY_KEY_ID:= APEX_Application.g_f02(v_row);
    ELSE
    :P_PRIMARY_KEY_ID:= -1;
    END IF;
    END;
    I know that my "Id" column is named f02 in the form, so this way I can find the id. I then assign this id to a kind of global variable - on the page I redirected to I can now find the Id.
    Talk about ugly code :P

  • Problems with concatenated primary key

    Hi all,
    I am trying to create cache groups of single tables. When I create a cache group (using the browser based cache admin tool) for a table that has a single row primary key, there are no problems. After creating the cache group I can go to TTISQL and issue a select statement of that table to see all the rows.
    However if I create a Cache group in the same way for a table that has a concatenated primary key (using two columns), TimesTen does indeed says that the cache group is created, but then when I issue a SELECT statement for that table in TTISQL, I get "0 rows returned".
    What could be going wrong ? Please advice.
    Thanks in advance

    if you describe the cache group in ttIsql (just enter 'cachegroups;' and hit return) what do you see?
    What message do you get back if you load the cache group in ttIsql:
    load cache group <cgname> commit every 100 rows;

    Hi,
    Is ur compound primarykey class is something like this?
    public class PrimaryKey implements java.io.Serializable {
          public String id = "";
          public int no = 0;
          //a default constructor is required:
          public PrimaryKey() { }
          // optional constructor fo clients:
          public PrimaryKey(String id, int no) {
               this.id = smsId;
               this.no = no;
          public String toString() {
               return id + "" + no;
         public boolean equals(Object obj) {
              if (obj == null || !(obj instanceof PrimaryKey))
                      return false;
                   else if ((((PrimaryKey)obj).no == no) && (((PrimaryKey)obj).id.equals(id)))

    But its working fine with varchar2 primary key On OWM 10.2.0.4.2/3
    Is there any workaround or we can get patch for 10.1.x.x?

    Hi,
    I was unable to reproduce this behavior on OWM 10.1.0.8. It appears that you have a SR open for this issue, so I would suggest to continue with that process.

  • SET NOCOUNTON causing Primary key violation exception from client code

    Hi,
    We have a stored procedure in SQL Server - 2012 which contains two insert statements as below
    BEGIN
    SET NOCOUNT ON;
     if(@Status ='1')
      Begin
     insert into dcmnt_mstr
      (trn_id,sub_no,usr_id,ref_id,email_id,reg_no,ordrd_date,ordr_cust_ref,email_status,chrg_status,upd_user,row_created_by)
      values(@TranId,@SubsriberNo,@UserId,@RefId,@EmailId,'00000000',getdate(),@RefText,'0','0','Bulk Order',@AppId)
      end
     insert into dcmnt_bulk
    (trn_id,reg_no,pkg_type,proc_status,upd_user)
    values
    (@TranId,@RegNo,@PkgType,'0','Bulk Order')
    END
    By using the SSMS2012 query analyzer we are able execute this SP successfully.
    But when this is executed from client code[Java Code] we are getting an error like below
    com.jnetdirect.jsql.x: Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint 'PK_dcmnt_mstr'.
    Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'dbo.dcmnt_mstr'. The duplicate key value is (5421e73993b46c15).
    The same is working fine from the client code once the statement SET NOCOUNT ON; is removed from the SP.
    Could some one can help to identify the root cause?
    Thank you

    It looks like the application code is examining the row count returned and retrying the insert if less than 1.  So you need to either specify SET NOCOUNT OFF (the default) or change the app code.

  • Batch processing problem: Seeing the primary key (id) in the test cases...

    Another problem we seem to be having is how to read the primary key into a base attribute of an entity.
    In batch processing, we may define the "id" as the primary key on the table. We need to get that id and the foreign key ids into the base attributes in the rule set...
    How do we go about doing that?

    Perhaps better, if you could give me a sample xml config with global and one entity. The only attribute in the entity should be the id... The id should be the primary key in both OPA and Oracle...
    The global table in oracle would contain a single column with the global id.
    The child table in oracle would contain 2 columns -> one for the global ref id and one for the child key...
    I think you will find problems.
    As a note we have duct-tape solved this by creating views and making column copies in the views of the child id and then mapping the id in oracle to the duplicate column in the view.
    So our child view contains the child table with the child id repeated twice so that we can map...
