Well if you are just starting with JDeveloper - why are you starting with an old version?
You should start with 10.1.3 it has hundreds of new features over 10.1.2.
I created a struts action in 10.1.3 copied your code into it and compiled without any problems.

  • Problem creating jar using JDeveloper

    I'm creating jar using JDeveloper..I need to keep two dll files in the jar. But if I create the jar in JDeveloper, it can't include the dll files. If the jar is created from command prompt, it can include the dll files. Can anyone tell me how can I include these dlls in my jar?

    Putting DLLs in your classes directory is dangerous (eg. Run->Clean Project.jpr will remove it). I use a different way to achieve that:
    When you double click on the deployment profile you'll see a dialog window containing a list of items. The one of interest is the one called File Groups. Select this item, click on the New button and add a new file group just for your DLLs.

  • Problems of performance with jdeveloper

    I've had problems of performance using Jdeveloper 10g when I'm using Swing/JClient for ADF. My computer is a Pentium IV with 1gb ram running under windows 2000 service pack 4. I'm trying Jdeveloper since version 3. I think Java still runs slowing. Can anyone help me ?

    I you want us to help you, provide more details about what is slow.
    Any specific action? how much time does it take to complete this specific action? etc...
    Do you have an anti-virus running? try to disable it and see if it helps. Some anti-viruses check Java classes as they are loaded slowing down JDeveloper.

  • Problems creating Struts ActionForm in JDeveloper 9.0.3.3

    I am very new to JDeveloper, where recently i am learning on how to use the struts technology. The problem occurs when i right-click the project file at the navigator and i choose NEW then at the Web-Tier i choose Struts, and at the item columns i choose ActionForm. The thing is the dialog doesnt prompt and it goes back to the main Window. What's the problem? Any patches that i need to upgrade? I use JDeveloper 9.0.3.3 is because my company doesnt want to migrate to 10g for the time being. So, I have limitation in using 10g instead.
    Regards,
    RoLand
    Java Developer

    Hi Roland.
    Yes, you are right. This does not seem to be working in the 9.0.3.x code base. I checked the 9.0.3.4 release and all the available patches and I don't see it as being fixed.
    It is working in the 9.0.4.x release though and that is not 10g... Would that work for you?
    Alternatively, you can could the action form class manually. Check out the 9.0.4 release on OTN to see what is generating and replicate that your 9.0.3.x product.
    Hope that helps.
    Pete

  • Cannot create a Struts Form bean using jdeveloper 10g

    Hello I'm new to jdeveloper and struts and triying to create a sample login page following this tutorial :http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/htdocs/handson/struts/strutshandson.html
    But I have a little problem in the 3rd excercice (Building Struts Form Beans and Actions)
    when I follow the instructions "Select File | New > Choose Web-Tier in the Categories, and select Struts > Select ActionForm from the Items > Click OK. "
    there is no ActionForm Item ! the only available item is "Struts Controller page Flow" and I allready used this one to create the struts' project template !
    (same thing : Struts Action in the next tutorial section is not available)
    BTW : I have to use jdeveloper 9.0.5.2 and not a latest version

    1. Take a look at the class diagram for query model http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17904_01/web.1111/b31973/af_query.htm#BABDGCHI

    I am also having the same problem. Calling a web service inside JDeveloper 10.1.3.3 works fine. When I deploy to a jar file and include all Jars that the dependency analyzer identifies, the following error occurs:
    standard type mapping initialization error: javax.xml.rpc.JAXRPCException: javax
    .xml.soap.SOAPException: Unable to create SOAP Factory: Provider com.sun.xml.messaging.saaj.soap.ver1_1.SOAPFactory1_1Impl not found
    Your work around defining Java system properties does work, but why do we need to do this using the Oracle SOAP stack?
    If there are alternatives to this problem please share. Thank you.

  • Using Struts with JDeveloper, BC4J and OC4J 9.0.2

    Is it feasible to use Struts with JDeveloper 9.0.2, BC4J 9.0.2 and OC4J 9.0.2? We have an application that uses the BC4J JBO tags in version 9.0.2. We wish to use Struts and we want to retain the use of the JBO tags. Is there a way to do this without upgrading to 9.0.3?

    Here are two related questions:
    Can we upgrade to oracle9iAS 9.0.3 yet still use JDeveloper 9.0.2 and BC4J/JBO 9.0.2?
    Can we upgrade to JDeveloper 9.0.3 and BC4J/JBO 9.0.3 yet still deploy to oracle9iAS 9.0.2?

  • Problem in using JDeveloper 10g with JHeadstart

    I am using JDeveloper 9.0.3 and jheadstart 9.0.4.5 and I would like to test jdeveloper 10g preview with JHeadstart.
    So, I have downloaded the JDeveloper 10g to test it with my old application.
    Having run the Jdeveloper for the first time, I realized that Jdeveloper
    installed the jheadstart automatically and following message was shown in the message window :

    So I try to test one of my old application with this configuration. After Jdeveloper migrated my workspace and projects and business componenet
    to the newer version, I run the application generator. It worked fine without any problem but after running the application, I got an error page showing
    that my bc4j.xcfg is not in the path.
    On the other hand, I found out that when I wanted to view my UIX pages, 2 dialog boxes appeared. The first one asked to upgrade
    to UIX 2.2's new expression language syntax and the other which is on the top of the first one, showing that UIX runtime failed to render the page

    I think that I should have set some setting before use JHeadstart with JDeveloper.
    Could anybody help me ?

    Alex,
    The document Sandra referred to applies to JDeveloper 10g preview (9.0.5.0). JHeadstart 9.0.4.5 will NOT work with JDeveloper 109 production (9.0.5.1).
    We plan to release a new version end of april that is compatible with 9.0.5.1. See this thread for more info: JDeveloper 10g production, status JHeadstart?

  • Is there any tutorial for integrating struts with hibernate using JDevelope

    Hi Everybody
    I am using Jdeveloper...and I want to know is there any tutorial available for usinfg struts and hibernate.
    If anybody knows abt them...plz tell me the links.
    Thanks and Regards
    K Sreenivas

    A tutorial about using hibernate in JDeveloper is here:

    There are many papers and tutorials about Struts in JDeveloper - just go to the tutorials page and technical papers pages linked from the JDeveloper home-page.

  • Problem if i use ajax in struts

    hi,
    i am working on struts, now i got one problem if i use ajax in jsp.
    In my jsp page i have two dropdown lists, according to the first dropdown value second dropdown result will getting from the database by calling an action class.
    but my requirement is for getting the second dropdown result page should not be refresh for this i am using ajax.
    in ajax how can we call one action class what should we return in actionmapping.
    If any one already written some code for this please send it to me.
    please can anyone help on this its very urgent for me.

    Hi
    First of all you have to write on fnRetrieveURL which will be responsible for getting the connection and XML communication.
                   function fnRetrieveURL(strURL, strFnProcessStateChange)
                        if(window.XMLHttpRequest)
                             varXMLrequest = new XMLHttpRequest();
                             varXMLrequest.onreadystatechange = eval(strFnProcessStateChange);
                             try
                                  varXMLrequest.open("POST",strURL,true);
                             catch(Exception)
                                  alert("Problem in Getting data ");
                             varXMLrequest.send(null);
                        else if(window.ActiveXObject)
                             varXMLrequest = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");
                             if(varXMLrequest)
                                  varXMLrequest.onreadystatechange =eval(strFnProcessStateChange);
                                  varXMLrequest.open("POST",strURL,true);
                                  varXMLrequest.send();
                   }This method will be called in user written method in which request will be submitted to action class.
                   function fnGetAreaForRegion()
                        var iRegion = document.getElementById("region").value;
                        var strURL = "../getAreaForRegion.do"
                        strURL = strURL+"?methodName="+"getAreaForRegion";
                        strURL = strURL+"&controlName="+"area";
                        strURL = strURL+"&iRegion="+iRegion ;
                        fnRetrieveURL(strURL,"fnOnReturnFromRegion");
                   }Then there will be one on Return method i.e the method which will be called when the response will come back to JSP from fnGetAreaforRegion.
                   function fnOnReturnFromRegion()
                        if (varXMLrequest.readyState == 4)
                             if(varXMLrequest.status == 200)

    Rest modification in struts-config, you can do by urself. and also you have to write one action class which will take care of parameters and all business logic.
    Above code you can reuse by bit modification. Action class you have to write by your own.
