Problem pulling HTML region using AJAX

Hi,
I am using Ajax with Oracle apex, it pulls the report region ok, but when i try to pull the html region, it doesn't. I tried several different ways and in firefox, it does pull the html region but not also pulls the header and footer. On IE, it gives a javascript error.
Is there any way to pull the HTML region from a page using AJAX on IE. I am using the htmldb_get.js's functions for ajax.

see
http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=11933:48
working perfectly with latest version of apex on ie, ffox and opera.

  • How to Display PHP Output as Portlet in HTML Region using utl_http.request

    I wanted to be able to parse PHP functions to add more functionality to my Page. nothing fantasy, something simple like: http://phpsysinfo.sourceforge.net/phpsysinfo-dev/?template=classic
    Where the realtime values are retrieved from the OS. this represent some kind of problem to me, I know how to do it from Shell Script, Perl or PHP, but not from PL/SQL.
    Based on my experience using Oracle Portal, Portlets, I think we really can make use of the feature used in Portal called Web Clipping. [ This feature basically goes to some Site a retrieve part of the site to show in the current page]. Well the PL/SQL utility utl_http.request does something similar.
    Make sure your request page does not retrieve some headers because that would cause a problem in your page and will not show up.
    This is what I did:
    <b> 1.- </b> Grant Privileges to execute [ <b> utl_http.request </b> ] to the owner of your schema.
    login into the OracleXE / APEX as SYS then go to the Object Navigator, then click on packages, find the utl_http.request then click on it, later click on grant and select your schema owner for your applicaion.
    <b> 2.- </b> Logout as SYS then login as your application schema user. just to test the functionality go to the sql command then enter the following command and then click run:
    <b> select substr(utl_http.request('http://www.oracle.com/'),1, 255) from dual; </b>
    If your output is:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <html> <head> <title>Oracle 10g, Siebel, PeopleSoft | Oracle, The World's Largest Enterprise Software Company</title> <meta name="title" content="Enterprise Applications | Database | Fusio
    <font color='blue'> Wow It worked </font>, this really could be useful !!, If not go back to step 1 and check your permissions to execute, or perhaps your Internet connectivity.
    3.- Once we know the package works and we can retrieve content from the Internet. lets go to some of our pages add some HTML Region.
    4.- Create an item and put into the new region. the source will be SQL, For the purposes of my test the query to the Oracle Page failed, so I decided to give a shot with a simple PHP script with no headers.
    The internal server is: http://mytest.com/hello_world.php
    Where the content of the hello_world.php is:
    <?
    echo '"<b> Hello World </b> ";
    ?>
    This PHP works fine and display the basic Hello World. can be the same server or not, also noticed this can be another port perhaps using something like Ruby,Mason or Java.
    <b> 5.- </b> Finally in my Item the source type is SQL and looks like this:
    <b> select substr(utl_http.request('http://mytest.com/hello_world.php'),1, 255) from dual; </b>
    Apply the changes and run the page !!!
    Excelent It worked as expected. now you know how use utl_http.request to create webclipping in your OracleXE / APEX from remote pages, or how to use it to parse the output from CGI, Perl, PHP, Ruby or Java pages.
    Note: [ Just make sure to strip the headers or parse into a PL/SQL Procedure to clean then show ]

    Sorry, from your post in the LabVIEW board I did not understand that it was the Output message that you were looking for.
    I thought you wanted the results from your test steps displayed on the user interface.
    It is the “Output Panel” in the sequence editor that displays your output message, but I do not know if there is default Output panel activeX indicator for user interface that the TestStand engine would update automatically like it does the execution view.
    Maybe someone else knows
    As also pointed out, the UI messages is your other option.
    The Output Message event number is 40
    http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/3879
    UIMsg_OutputMessages–(Value: 40) TestStand sends this message at periodic intervals when it holds references to output messages that calls to the OutputMessage.Post method queue. TestStand transfers the queued messages to an OutputMessages collection attached to the UIMessage.ActiveXData property for this event. An application that processes output messages should copy the output message references from the collection in UIMessage.ActiveXData to its own private OutputMessages collection by passing its private collection to the OutputMessages.CopyMessagesToCollection method. An application calls the Engine.NewOutputMessages method to create a private OutputMessage collection. TestStand generates this event only if the Engine.OutputMessagesEnabled property is True. Because there can be more than one handler for this event, the application should not modify the OutputMessages collection the UIMessage.ActiveXData property holds.

  • Send a message from a list of emails in lightswitch 2013.4 HTML screen using ajax

    Hi There,
    any idea how to make a button to send a message from a list of emails in lightswitch 2013.4 HTML.
    my idea is to send message to all emails in the details picker (or the drop down menu or a choice list) tat is filled by SQL query (as a data source in lightswitch)
    i have read many articles,  most of them were written in PHP or VB !
    for example:
    http://www.devarticles.com/c/a/HTML/Sending-email-with-AJAX-building-a-small-application/1/
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/22442074/how-to-send-email-to-a-list-of-addresses-from-lightswitch

    http://www.lightswitchspecial.com/2013/01/7-most-easiest-way-to-send-email-from.html
    as far as  i know, the HTML screens in lightswitch 2013 can be encoded with ajax only, not vb or C# any more!
    my project contains only HTML screens, no desktop screens. i know that i can do the VB programming in the tables actions, but i am looking to have this code in the Browse screen to give me more flexibility depending on my decision to
    send or not..
    help please :)

    Hello Hasan,
    I do this using a generic handler(e.g. sendmail.ashx). In the ashx file i use this code:
    Imports System.Net.Mail
    Imports System.Web
    Imports System.Web.Services
    Sub ProcessRequest(ByVal context As HttpContext) Implements IHttpHandler.ProcessRequest
    Dim str As String = "there was no error "
    Dim Recipient As String = Convert.ToString(context.Request.Params("pRecipient"))
    Dim strsub As String = Convert.ToString(context.Request.Params("pSubject"))
    Dim strmsg As String = Convert.ToString(context.Request.Params("pMessage"))
    Dim msg As New MailMessage
    Try
    ' Your mail address and display name.
    ' This what will appear on the From field.
    ' If you used another credentials to access
    ' the SMTP server, the mail message would be
    ' sent from the mail specified in the From
    ' field on behalf of the real sender.
    msg.From = New MailAddress("[email protected]", "Displayname")
    ' To addresses
    msg.To.Add("[email protected]")
    'msg.To.Add(New MailAddress("[email protected]", "Friend B"))
    ' You can specify CC and BCC addresses also
    ' Set to high priority
    msg.Priority = MailPriority.High
    msg.Subject = strsub
    ' You can specify a plain text or HTML contents
    msg.IsBodyHtml = True
    msg.Body = strmsg
    'msg.Body = _
    ' "Hello everybody,<br /><br />" & _
    ' "I found an interesting site called <a href=""http:'JustLikeAMagic.WordPress.com"">" & _
    ' "Just Like a Magic</a>. Be sure to visit it soon."
    ' In order for the mail client to interpret message
    ' body correctly, we mark the body as HTML
    ' because we set the body to HTML contents.
    ' Attaching some data
    ' msg.Attachments.Add(New Attachment("D:\Site.lnk"))
    ' Connecting to the server and configuring it
    Dim client As New SmtpClient()
    client.Host = "mail.gmx.com"
    client.Port = 25
    client.EnableSsl = True
    ' The server requires user's credentials
    ' not the default credentials
    client.UseDefaultCredentials = False
    ' Provide your credentials
    client.Credentials = New System.Net.NetworkCredential("yourcredentias", "f2f081639ad")
    client.DeliveryMethod = SmtpDeliveryMethod.Network
    ' Use SendAsync to send the message asynchronously
    client.Send(msg)
    Catch ex As Exception
    str = ex.Message
    Finally
    msg.Dispose()
    End Try
    context.Response.ContentType = "text/plain"
    context.Response.Write(str)
    End Sub
    When you create the ASHX then replace the ProcessRequest with the above function.
    In LS HTML Screen create the function for pressing a button an appen the following text:
    $.ajax({
    type: 'post',
    data: {
    pRecipient: Screen.yourdata,
    pSubject: Screen.yourdata,
    pMessage: Screen.yourdata,
    url: '../sendmail.ashx',
    success: function success(result) {
    alert(result);
    This is a way you can do that. In VB and out of your browse Screen.
    Hope this helps
    Thomas

  • Problem in html and using javascript

    Hello,
    I want to create a html page that calls a javascript file(.js) using the HTML portlet. The problem is that i do not how to specify the location of the javascript (src="location/name of .js file")as i do not know in which directory does the HTML portlet resides.
    Please give me some guidance on this.
    Thanks in advance.

    If you want to store the .js file on the file system, the base directory is <ORACLE_HOME>/portal. For example, on Windows, if your mid-tier Oracle Home is d:\iasv2, your base directory will be d:\iasv2\portal. The relative link "/location/myjs.js" (note the leading slash) would resolve to "d:\iasv2\portal\location\myjs.js".
    If you want to store the file in the Portal repository, the path is "/<DAD>/docs/PAGE/<pagepath>/<docname>", where <DAD> is your database access descriptor (e.g."/pls/portal"), <pagepath> is the path to the page on which the document is stored, starting with the name of the root page of the page group. So if your DAD is "/pls/portal", your root page is called "mypages" (the internal name is used, not the display name), and the document is stored on a page under the rootpage called "myscripts", the href will be "/pls/portal/docs/page/mypages/myscripts/myjs.js".
    You can also specify a path relative to the current page. So, in the above example, if your HTML portlet is on "mypages", your href can be simply "myscripts/myjs.js".
    If this is release 1 of Portal (3.0.x), use /<DAD>/docs/FOLDER/<folderpath>/<docname> as the path to the document (e.g. "/pls/portal/docs/folder/myfolders/myscripts/myjs.js").

  • Performance issue during SharePoint list data bind to html table using Ajax call(Rest API)

    Hello,
    I am having multiple lists in my SharePoint Site. I am using SharePoint REST APIs to get data from these lists and bind a HTML Table. Suppose, I have 5 lists with 1000 records each, I am looping 5000 times to bind each row(record) to this html table. This
    is causing performance issue which is taking a very long time to bind.
    Is there any way So that I can reduce this looping OR is there any better approach to improve the performance. Please kindly Suggest.  Thank you for your help :)
    Warm Regards,

    Hi Racha,
    For handling large data binding in a page,
    AngularJS would be a great option if you might would worry about the performance.

  • Problem doing partial refresh (pull) of HTML region

    In my application, I have a page where on the left I have a list of documents and, on the right, selected document in PDF format.
    The right region is defined as HTML:
    <object id="DataPDF" data="f?p=&APP_ID.:18:&APP_SESSION.:APPLICATION_PROCESS=odp_show_doc::::" type="application/pdf"></object>The function odp_show_doc gets PDF document from a web service and returns a PDF BLOB that fills the region.
    However, to refresh the region with valid document data, I have to resubmit the page each time the user selects a new document.
    To refresh the page partially (only the PDF region), I have tried to use Carl Backstrom's example (http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=11933:48) to pull the PDF content from another page, but to no avail.
    I have defined another page (2) with a region that does the job. When I go directly on that page, I see the PDF region filling. But when I try to pull the same page with the code
    var gReturn;
    var get=new htmldb_Get(null,html_GetElement('pFlowId').value,null, 2);
    get.addParam('P0_NUM_DOC_GED', numDocGed);
    gReturn = get.get(null,'<htmldb:BOX_BODY>','</htmldb:BOX_BODY>');
    alert(gReturn);I get the following error:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//IETF//DTD HTML2.0 EN">
    <html>
       <head>
          <title>404 Not Found</title>
       </head>
       <body>
          <h1>Not Found</h1>
          <p>The requested URL /pls/apex/wwv_flow.show was not found.</p>
       </body>
    <html>In this case, the odp_show_doc is never called (I have added some debug info in this ODP function).
    Has anyone an idea of what I am doing wrong and what correction should I do to make this pull work?
    Thank you.
    Igor

    Well... It seems to work directly on the machine, if I use the following URL when calling the application:
    http://localhost:8080/apex/f?p=120However, when I call the application from outside with the URL
    https://app-url/pls/apex/f?p=120, pulling the region based on on-demand-process results in:
    The requested URL /pls/apex/wwv_flow.show was not foundPulling an ordinary report is OK.

  • Calling an On Demand Process in PL/SQL Region without using AJAX

    Hi!
    I am trying to find a way to call an On demand Process in a PL/SQL Reports Region. The reason is that i need Reportings for about 20 Pages that look like the same but have different parameters. I already have some Processes that return SQL Statements and it works fine. But these Reportings are more complex and it's not possible to return it wirh a SQL Statement.
    I have seen some solutions in this forum that used AJAX to call such a process. The problem is, that I'm not allowed to use AJAX because activeX is diabled. I tried it and it works but i need another way to solve this process call.
    Thanks in advance
    Philipp

    At the moment I cannot say if your link can help. Right now the call of the On demand Process looks like this:
    Inside annonymous PL/SQL Region:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    get = new htmldb_Get(null,'||:APP_ID||'.,'APPLICATION_PROCESS=F_REPORT_NAME',0);
    gReturn = get.get();
    document.write(gReturn);
    </script>

  • Using bind variables in HTML Region source

    <nl>
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=49417:1   workspace: SVK demo/demo
    I am having problems incorporating an item variable into a string of embedded html that should popup a modal video when the button is pressed.
    Item 1 works fine and that is what I want to accomplish with item 2, but when I pass :p1_url, it does not work even though the contents of the two items text areas equivalent.

    svk1965 wrote:
    If you look at my app, you'll see what I am attempting. Click on the button "Pass Hardcoded URLs in Variable to HTML Region" and a modal video will pop up. The goal is to display video in a modal window. The first example in my app works just fine. It is the second one that is causing me problems. BTW - Sequence 18 in the second DA does the same thing as Sequence 10 in the first - and it does work there so I am not sure that removing it is the right thing to do. I am not trying to set a region value per se, but populate the region source and sequence 10 does just that. So I don't think it is "useless" as you say.I can't see anything in the documentation or any previous posts here that indicates that DAs are supposed to work that way. If you can point me to some I'd like to see it. Which is not to say I like the idea. Plays too fast and loose with terms and concepts.
    Rather than trying to use a "Set Value" DA, my understanding would be to manipulate the region content via an "Execute JavaScript Code" DA, which works exactly as intended.
    I'll have to investigate this DA behaviour with a simpler example that doesn't involve hidden regions and Dynamic Acrion plugins.

  • Problem in loading external HTML content using SpryHTMLDataSet in Firefox

    I have a very simple placement of the contents of an HTML DIV within a subsidiary HTML file (statespecificassets.html) into a main HTML document, using SpryHTMLDataSet in Dreamweaver CS4.
    The relevant bits of code in the main HTML doc:
    In the header:
    <script src="../../SpryAssets/SpryData.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script src="../../SpryAssets/SpryHTMLDataSet.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    var ds1 = new Spry.Data.HTMLDataSet("../../statespecificassets.html", "NN_Data_s3a");
    ds1.setColumnType("column0", "html");
    //-->
    </script>
    And at the point of inclusion of the external DIV:
    <div spry:region="ds1" class="StackedContainers">
             <div spry:repeat="ds1" class="RowContainer">
                <div class="RowColumn" style="background-color: #D7DF21;">{column0}</div>
             </div>
          </div>
    The problem: This works fine in Safari 4.0 on a Mac, and IE7 on a PC. It doesn't work in Firefox 3.0.11 (latest version) on Mac or PC: In firefox the reference content simply doesn't load. The only way I can get it to work in Firefox is if I place the main HTML doc and its subsidiary reference HTML file in exactly the same directory/ on the same level, and adjust the script reference accordingly ( var ds1 = new Spry.Data.HTMLDataSet("statespecificassets.html", "NN_Data_s3a"); ) ...But I can't/ don't want to alter my directory structure, because multiple files in other directories will need to use the reference file.
    Is there some other way of making it all-browser compatible -- possibly by adjusting a relevant bit of code in SpryHTMLDataSet.js in the Spry Assets? .. I've attached the SpryHTMLDataSet.js file for reference.
    Thank you to any kind soul who might have the nous to solve this.

    This is the latest version of SpryHTMLDataSet: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/preview/SpryHTMLDataSet.js

  • Problem if i use ajax in struts

    hi,
    i am working on struts, now i got one problem if i use ajax in jsp.
    In my jsp page i have two dropdown lists, according to the first dropdown value second dropdown result will getting from the database by calling an action class.
    but my requirement is for getting the second dropdown result page should not be refresh for this i am using ajax.
    in ajax how can we call one action class what should we return in actionmapping.
    If any one already written some code for this please send it to me.
    please can anyone help on this its very urgent for me.

    Hi
    First of all you have to write on fnRetrieveURL which will be responsible for getting the connection and XML communication.
                   function fnRetrieveURL(strURL, strFnProcessStateChange)
                        if(window.XMLHttpRequest)
                             varXMLrequest = new XMLHttpRequest();
                             varXMLrequest.onreadystatechange = eval(strFnProcessStateChange);
                             try
                                  varXMLrequest.open("POST",strURL,true);
                             catch(Exception)
                                  alert("Problem in Getting data ");
                             varXMLrequest.send(null);
                        else if(window.ActiveXObject)
                             varXMLrequest = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");
                             if(varXMLrequest)
                                  varXMLrequest.onreadystatechange =eval(strFnProcessStateChange);
                                  varXMLrequest.open("POST",strURL,true);
                                  varXMLrequest.send();
                   }This method will be called in user written method in which request will be submitted to action class.
                   function fnGetAreaForRegion()
                        var iRegion = document.getElementById("region").value;
                        var strURL = "../getAreaForRegion.do"
                        strURL = strURL+"?methodName="+"getAreaForRegion";
                        strURL = strURL+"&controlName="+"area";
                        strURL = strURL+"&iRegion="+iRegion ;
                        fnRetrieveURL(strURL,"fnOnReturnFromRegion");
                   }Then there will be one on Return method i.e the method which will be called when the response will come back to JSP from fnGetAreaforRegion.
                   function fnOnReturnFromRegion()
                        if (varXMLrequest.readyState == 4)
                             if(varXMLrequest.status == 200)
                                  var strSubClassValue = varXMLrequest.responseText;
                                  if(strSubClassValue != '')
                                    var strArray = strSubClassValue.split(",");
                                       var iLength = strArray.length;
                                       var strName = new Array();
                                       var strID = new Array();
                                       var j=0;
                                       for(var i =0 ; i< iLength;i=i+2)
                                            strName[j] = strArray;
                                            j++;
                                       var k=0;
                                       for(var i =1 ; i< iLength;i=i+2)
                                            strID[k] = strArray[i];
                                            k++;
                                       var iNewLength = strID.length;
                                       var optnSelect = document.createElement("OPTION");
                                       optnSelect.text = 'Select';
                                       optnSelect.value = '';
                                       document.getElementById("area").options.add(optnSelect);
                                       for(var i =0 ; i< iNewLength;i++)
                                            var optn = document.createElement("OPTION");
                                            optn.text = strName[i];
                                            optn.value = parseInt(strID[i]);
                                            document.getElementById("area").options.add(optn);
    Rest modification in struts-config, you can do by urself. and also you have to write one action class which will take care of parameters and all business logic.
    Above code you can reuse by bit modification. Action class you have to write by your own.
    let me know if you still face any issues

  • Values having html tags not getting populated while using AJAX in APEX

    Hi,
    I am using AJAX to populate certain values in a tabular report.
    I have a java script of this form (I have taken this example from Denes's example http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:241:1400877312570049)
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">

    l_El.parentNode.innerHTML = l_Value;
    l_El.parentNode.id = l_ID;
    }else{
    l_El.innerHTML = l_Value;
    get = null;
    </script>
    And I have the application process as follows
    BEGIN
    OWA_UTIL.mime_header ('text/xml', FALSE);
    HTP.p ('Cache-Control: no-cache');
    HTP.p ('Pragma: no-cache');
    OWA_UTIL.http_header_close;
    HTP.prn ('<body>');
    HTP.prn ('<desc>this xml genericly sets multiple items</desc>');
    HTP.prn ('<item id="f05_000' || :T_ROWNUM || '">' || :TEMPORARY_APPLICATION_ITEM || '</item>');
    HTP.prn ('</body>');
    END;
    If I have :TEMPORARY_APPLICATION_ITEM as 'Vikas' it gets displayed properly but if I have '&lt;b&gt;Vikas&lt;b&gt;' it shows null. if it has any HTML tags function l_Opt_Xml.firstChild.nodeValue is not working properly .Please tell me what modiifcation can I use in function l_Opt_Xml.firstChild.nodeValue to get Values with HTML tags also to get displayed.
    Thanks,
    Vikas

    Vikas,
    Try escaping special characters: htf.escape_sc(:TEMPORARY_APPLICATION_ITEM)Regards,
    Dan

  • Problem with NIReport.llb\Print HTML Report using IE.vi on different machines

    We have 5 machines here in our workgroup which have the same state regarding security patches and other system updates. We recently found out that there is a problem with the NIReport.llb\Print HTML Report using IE.vi on the different machines.
    If I would open the VI on MachineA the control could be loaded. If I would open the VI on MachineB the control could be loaded. If I would copy the VI from MachineB to MachineA and open the VI the control could not be loaded. If I would copy the VI from MachineA to MachineB and open the VI on MachineB the control could be loaded. MachineB could load the version from MachineA and MachineB but on MachineA only the own version will load. I have seen that both versions have the same GUID for the Microsoft Webbrowser but are different in some other aereas.
    Since printing HTML Reports is part of the application which will be distributed as application I want to know if someone else have seen such a behaviour or has got problems distributing an application.
    Also I want to know which additional information is stored in an Active-X container about the control beside the GUID.
    We have Win XP Prof SP2 with MS IE 6.0.2900.2180 on all machines in the workgroup.

    Hi Tom,
    this is the VI <vi.lib>\Utillitiy\NIReport.llb\Print HTML Report using IE.vi copied from a machine that can load and run the VI and it will print. On this machine the control in the VI is white.
    This VI will give the "Control could not be loaded" message on my machine.
    The file shdocvw.dll is 2006-10-23 16:18 size 1.460 KB and I verifyed that both machines have the same version of this file.

  • Using a Target in an HTML Region

    Hi, I have a page with an HTML Region, which links to an external html page. The external page has links to other, secondary external pages. I'd like for the secondary links to open and replace the original external page within the same region on my HTMLDB page.
    I've considered trying to create a FRAME inside the region, then using the HREF TARGET= in the external files to point to that FRAME. But, I'd like to be able to do this without manipulating the html code inside the external pages (though that might be an option if I can't get there without doing so).
    Any other ideas?
    Thanks as always for your help...

    Mark,
    Try using an iframe rather than a frame

  • Use SESSION variable in URL from HTML region

    Hello,
    I have what looks like a simple question but i've been struggling with it for three days now, and i need your help!
    I have a page, with an HTML region. I want to display some links to other pages within the application, so i thought i'd use this:
    a href="http://server.xxxx.com:7777/pls/htmldb/f?p=114:13:&SESSION"
    But the session ID is not interpreted, and the link doesn;t work. Any idea what's wrong here? or how i should create links with the session id in it?
    Thanks!!!! Matt

    Matt,
    You've missed off the period (.) off the end, use &SESSION. instead
