Problem running javascript in an Interactive Report

I have a page that opens a popup window. The popup window shows a standard report. I have added a column link in this report so that the row selected will be passed back to the page that opened this popup. It is in the Column Link area, Target is URL and the URL is
javascript:passBack('#REGULATION_COMBO_CD#'); javascript:parentRefesh() ; javascript:window.close();
This works fine. But since I want to be able to search the report in the popup window, I migrated this standard report to an interactive one. The Column Link no longer works. It doesn't return the info or close this popup window. So it looks like the javascript iis not running.
I tried to change the information in the Link Column area of the interactive report. I can use the target page and the Item Value fields to pass the information back to the calling page, but it won't run the javascript to close this popup window.
Am I missing a place where the javascript should go in an interactive report? APEX 3.1.1, Oracle 10g

Hi,
Try creating a javascript function on your page and call that instead of running all of the code from the link
<javascript type="text/javascript">
function passbackAndClose(v)
passBack(v);
parentRefesh();
window.close();
</javascript>put that in your popup page's HTML Header setting.
Then change the link to:
#" onclick="javascript:passbackAndClose('#REGULATION_COMBO_CD#');When you chain javascript calls, the browser generally expects each function to do "return true;" when the function is finished. Usually, this is just assumed, but sometimes you need to add this in to your code.
Also - you have parentRefesh() - should this be parentRefresh() ?

  • JavaScript error on Interactive Report

When clicking on the Magnifying glass of my interactive report search bar, I receive a JavaScript error.
Line: 2 Char: 15193 Error: Syntax Error
The page that I am navigating to has 2 regions. The first is an interactive report and the second is an html region that has an Iframe reference to another interactive report. Based upon the selection of a radio group, the corresponding region(interactive report) displays. All other interactive reports work fine when their pages don't have a region with a Iframe reference.
If I navigate to another page after the error occurs and then come back to the page, everything then works fine. The error only happens on the first use. I have installed the latest patch set for Apex 3.2 I currently am running 3.2.1.00.11. I read a bug on Metalink that referenced this javascript error, but applying the patch set does not seem to fix the issue. The bug was 8568894.
    Any help would be appreciated.

This might be useful for others also...
After hours and hours of debugging headers and responses and comparing pages to others which work, I realised that this interactive report's display condition is based on REQUEST = SUBMIT.
As such, the actions menu will NOT set the Request parameter when clicking in the actions menu and the Apex engine refuses to send anything back to the browser - not even an error message.
I'll raise a bug for this via Oracle Support.
    Cheers, Pete

  • Problem passing parameter from one interactive report to another

    Hi.
I'm going slightly mad over this simple problem.
Apex 4.0.2 installed. Created one interactive report with 4 columns, one is linked to a custom target which is another interactive report where the column is used in the WHERE clause through a hidden field value.
This works fine in other applications on same Apex install, but not in this one.... Writing the hidden field to the screen shows that it gets the correct value from the first report, but the SQL-query returns no rows when querying on the :<parameter_name> value (there are rows in database - query runs fine when hard coding a value).
Tried link column both directly from the column value link definition, and from the report definition - both pass value ok to hidden field, but SQL-query doesn't pick it up.
Tried deleteing and recreating second report page, same problem.
Anyone else had this problem? Are there any properties on the pages/fields that I've forgot to set, that may cause the session value not to be set when the query is running? I've got it working in other apps, and can't find anything done differently there....
    Regards,
    -Haakon-

Yes, it shows the correct value. Also creating a second text field and assigning it the Source value of the hidden field shows the correct value in the textbox on page load.
It's only the report's sql query that doesn't seem to get the value. Hard coding a document number (without hyphens etc) works fine, I get the expected records - so the rest of the query is correct.
Tried '=' and LIKE - but still nothing...
It's just the sql variable substitution of :P21_DOCNO that under no circumstance will work.... also tried a simple pl/sql block with the variable - nothing.... using the V('P21_DOCNO') - nothing....
It seems like the sql query is parsed and run before the hidden field gets it's value or something....
This is very strange - as it works in another application on same Apex installation.

  • Problem with column groups on Interactive Report

    Hi
I am hoping that someone can help with this problem.
I am attempting to control both the grouping and ordering within each group of fields in the single row view of an interactive report. Creating column groups appears to be OK at first (sequence, name and description) but if I then attempt to edit the group, the sequence box appears to be empty even though it was filled with a unique number at the time of creating the group.
In addition, any changes to the order of the fields within the group made using the shuttle box at the bottom of the screen don't seem to be saved even to the Apply Changes button is pressed.
Anybody know what is happening here and can anyone suggest how to control both the order of the groups and ordering within each group?
    Thanks in anticipation

  • Javascript error in interactive reports  chart - 3.1

I created an application with the new interactive reports.
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=33003:1
When I use the Chart option in IE I get a javascript error.
'null' is null or not an object
It is working fine in Firefox.
I tried with 3 different themes and it is always giving me that javascript error on the charts. I also tried on different machines.
    Thanks
    Francis.

    Francis,
I just tried with the exact same version of IE and didn't get any errors. Do you have version 9+ of the Flash Player? I'm not sure why an earlier version would cause a javascript error, but it's worth checking. You can check by right-clicking any Flash content and clicking "About Adobe Flash Player X..."

  • Problem running a concurrent program from Reports

    Hi,
I've come across a problem while running a concurrent program from Reports. The report is executed OK and at the end, I call a concurrent program by firing fnd_request.submit_request. I catch then the req_id returned and it gives me 0. I tried to replace the concurrent program, which is a UNIX shell script, with just a simple script that echos "hello", but anyway, I get 0 as return value from fnd_request.submit_request.
The next step I tried to set apps_initialize with proper vUSER_ID, vRESP_ID and vRESP_APPL_ID, but did not get away with that. My last try was to hardcode vUSER_ID to a sysadmin user, in case this was rights-related issue but did not work as well.
Am now looking into a possibility of actually getting the error, why it failes. I found some posts where FND_MESSAGE.RETRIEVE and FND_MESSAGE are used but this apparently does not work under Reports (am using reports builder v. 9.2.0.4.0).
Any suggestions how to solve this issue?
    Thanks,
    David Lacina.

    Hi,
Make sure that the concurrent program you are calling exists (case sensitive) and is enabled.
Create a PL/SQL package and use that to call your request - the you'll be able to use fnd_message.

    Hey there,
That happened to me when I had an & sign in the page title name. If you have some weird symbols in the page title, try changing them. Then it will work.
    PS
Make sure in the title name and page name there are no weird symbols.

  • New version 9.0.1 on Windows 7 has a problem running JavaScript math iterations.

    Dialog Error Box reads:
A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete.
    Script: http://www.classictesla.com/java/javatc/script/JTC_geotc.js:1299
The above dialog has never come up before. This program ran fine forever and has not changed. With Firefox 8, the program ran in 0.3 seconds. IMMEDIATELY as I allowed the browser to upgrade to 9.0.1, the program is now not working.
About 1000 people use this program. Knowing how slow fixes can be, I have to inform them not to allow FF to upgrade to version 9. Really sucks as I've been a FF fan forever.
If you go to that website, click the "Load Sample Coil" button, then scroll down and click the RUN JAVATC button, you'll see the problem
If there is a problem with the script, why only now after so many years of running? I can run it just fine on version 8. If there's something I can do on my end, I would love to (just tell me what the problem is).
My guess = "version 9 is limiting the number of iterations a script can run". This code use to run in 0.3 seconds and now is just hung. A very sad day for me. I guess I have to figure out how to go back to old version 8.

Only Firefox 9 seems to have that problem. Firefox 8 and Firefox 10 (beta) and later work. It helps a bit if I disable javascript.options.methodjit.content, but then it still takes 4 seconds compared to 0.2 or 0.3 seconds with the other Firefox versions. So that looks like a bug with the JIT compiler.

  • Error while scheduling a Hyperion Interactive Report

  • Dynamic Checkboxes on Interactive Report

I have an interactive report that currently lists a row of values:
    Field1
    Val1
    Val2
    Val3
I would like to place a text-field at the top of this interactive report with a submit button:
    [textbox] [submit button]
    Field 1
    Val1
    Val2
    Va3
Then I would like to have checkboxes [] appear in each row:
    [textbox] [submit button]
    Field1 | Checkbox
    Val1 | []
    Val2 | []
    Val3 | []
Then I would like to make it so that the user enters some text into the textbox and selects any number of the row checkboxes. Upon hitting submit, a procedure will run that accepts each Field1 value and inserts a record into a table containing 2 fields: the Field1 value and the textbox text.
    So the following user input:
[Test text in the textbox.] [submit button]
    Field1 | Checkbox
    Val1 | []
    Val2 | [x]
    Va3 | [x]
After hitting the submit button, a procedure would be called that would insert 2 records into a table:
    Field1 | Field2
Val2 | Test text in the textbox.
Val3 | Test text in the textbox.
Note that there is no entry for Val1 because its checkbox was not checked when the user pressed submit.
What can I do to make this happen? I appreciate any help you can offer.

    Thanks for sharing
I am having exactly the same problem.
I have an interactive report with the following SQL.
    select RSN_CD,

I've set the 'Select' column's type to 'Standard Report Column'.  But the checkbox does not appear on the report.

  • Interactive Reports - SQL Source Question

    Background
Apex 3.1 is installed on Oracle 10g instance on local machine but all data is stored on a remote machine on Oracle 9 & 10 instances.
This data is also used by another piece of software, which directly manipulates the data.
The Apex Application that I am developing is to be used as a Quick Find/KPI Reporting tool and is setup to utilise DBLinks and Synonyms.
Within the remote data, we have a mapping table that contains user specific alias' for field names, which the users set using the other piece of software. There can be up to 5 mappings per table field each defined as LNG01, LNG02,etc.
In order to provide the same field Alias' in the Apex application, I have created a PL/SQL function to return the field alias and return a string value containing the final SQL.
    Problem
In standard reports, this would work correctly as you could return a SQL statement in a string and it handled it with no problems.
However, due to Interactive Reports not supporting this, I have tried to find code to pass in the string SQL Statement to return a TABLE or PIPELINED datasource.
The string SQL statement will vary for each time it is used so the string SQL statement is effectively built as dynamic SQL
This causes as problem as I will never be able to define the ROWTYPE for a type TABLE variable as the field names will not be constant.
Can you tell me if there is any way to create a SQL source that could be used for the Interactive Report based on dynamic SQL?
Alternatively, if you can provide any alternatives to finding a solution I would be most grateful.
Apologies if this question has been posted before.
    Thanks in advance.
    Stuart

    Stuart,
    You could:
    1) Create page items, one for each dynamic column header (e.g. P1_OBJECT_NAME_HEADER, etc).
    2) Create a page process, to run when the page is loaded, that populates each item with the appropriate text. This can pull the column header text from your remote source.
    3) Use a static query as your interactive report source:
        select objname,
               objuniqueid,
               objtypecode,
               objsitearea,
               objdesc,
               objdesc2,
               objlocationid,
               objcommission
from cdoweb_om4) Edit the interactive report attributes -- use APEX substitution string syntax to reference the item values (e.g. "&P1_OBJECT_NAME_HEADER." without the quotes) instead of static column headers.
For more information on using substitution strings:

  • How to display images by using URLs in Interactive Reporting

    Hello everybody,
My client has the Hyperion System 9.3 suite.
We have a report in Interactive Reporting showing product data.
The source for the report is a relational database (SQL Server).
The data is grouped by product.
My client needs the product's picture (jpg) in the report.
The problem is that product images are not available in the relational database but via URL like this:
    http://client_domanin//Hyperion/id_product.jpg
(the name of the image equals the id of the product).
I was thinking to solve this problem using Java Script.
I don't know Java Script and don't know how to 'integrate' the JavaScript code with Interactive Reporting.
How should the Java Script look like?
Any help will be extremely appreciated.
    Thank you all!
    Daniela

You might be able to do it if you are using the iHTML view of the Report not the Interactive Reporting Web Client (Plug-in)
I do not have a 9.x server available to test this so it is guess on how i did it once in a Proof of Concept.
In Results section Create a Computed Item that will be the HTML tag for the Graphic
the syntax would look something like below
    '<IMG SRC = "http://client_domanin//Hyperion/" + id_product + ".jpg">'
WHERE id_product is a column in your Data.
Again this will not show a graphic when viewed with Interactive Reporting Web Client or Desktop Client.
Good Luck, hope this is helpful

  • Interactive Report Pagination and count

    Hello,
I have two situations I am hoping someone could help me with.
    Problem 1
I am using interactive reports in APEX 3.2.1 and I have reports with rows >= 6000. currently pagination on reports is set to:
    X to Y of Z
such that when the report is rendered it looks something like 1 - 15 of 6203 >.
Is it possible to add 'objects' or 'buttons' that allow me to navigate directly to the last row or/first row e.g
    |<< < 1 - 15 of 6203 > >>|
such that |<< or >>| navigates to the very end row while < or > navigates to the next set or rows? would this be javascript? if so, does anyone have code for it? unfortunately not only am I new to APEX, I am a novice at javascript as well.
    Problem 2
Is it possible to have APEX interactive reports return a distinct count on fields that are not unique? All counts are equating to the count of the unique ID and has had me pulling my hair
    Any help is most welcome,
    Mufudzi

    Hi Mike,
I have not managed to get 'Distinct count' to work. Unfortunately, the project I am working on for this neither has the time or budget to investigate further but hopefully I will be able to get a solution from someone as a "nice-to-know".
Regarding the first problem I posted on, managed to come up with a solution using some html. Basically I created two html scripts (one above the report and the other below the pagination buttons at the bottom of the report)
    - for the top of report html I used the following code:
    +<td nowrap class="t13RegionBody"><>a href="#endofpage"<>End of Page</a></td>+
    +<td bgcolor="#EEEEEE" nowrap><a name="topofpage"><font color="#EEEEEE">Top of Page</font></a></td>+
    and called the script topofpage
    - for the bottom of report html script I called it endofpage and used the following code:
    +<td nowrap class="t13RegionBody"><>a href="#topofpage"<>Top of Page</a></td>+
    +<td nowrap bgcolor="#EEEEEE"><A NAME="endofpage"><font color="#EEEEEE">End of Page</font></A></td>+
What the script does is when the "End of Page" hyperlink is clicked, it takes the user to the bottom of the screen/page and vice versa for the "Top of Page" hyperlink situated at the bottom of the page. Users will be educated on how to use the ROWS utility on the interactive report menu bar so that they can display all available rows on one page and use the links to navigate from top to bottom of page.
