Problem running pform_report.jsp in Report Builder 9i

I downloaded the .ZIP file from the Examples page on the otn site. I follow the instructions,
but when I try opening up any of the files, it creates an error window "can not display window" and the
whole program zapps out. was anyone successful in running the sample in reports builder?
do you have to use a PC for this?
My main problem is:
Im trying to learn how to create a parameter form on the web. not using the "user parameters"
and the runtime form.
ANY HELP ON HOW TO DO THIS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!

hello,
this example is not quite designed for beeing run in the builder since it calls itself passing parameters. however, you should be able to see the idea behind it by looking at the JSP source code.
regarding your issue when opening the file, we have never experienced such behaviour but the example was developed on a windows platform. maybe the files get corrupted when getting unzipped. can you open the JSP file in e.g. vi ?

  • Error While Opening JSP in Report Builder converted from RDF

    Hi,
I am using Oracle reports 9i to convert rdf into jsp and invoke this jsp using OC4J to get HTML report.
The problem i am facing is that while converting RDF to JSP conversion went on successfull but when iam trying to open the JSP in Report builder it gives me error REP-2: Unable to retrieve string from message file.
When i want to see the paper layout it is not present and datamodel is also corrupted. In the data model sources for some fileds become null and one addtional group is appearing with no column in it.
    Urgent help is needed.
For any help Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Sanjay Tripathi

    Hello Sanjay,
There are some known issues in Reports 9i due to which XML/JSP reports do not open correctly in Builder, and throw the REP-0002 error. These bugs are currently being looked into, and will be addressed soon.
    1. If your report is using ref cursor queries, and you are hitting the above error, please ensure you connect to a database before you open the report.
    2. If your report has summary/formula columns, please try to create the JSP report without these columns and then try to open it in Builder.
    Thanks,
    The Oracle Reports Team.

  • Problem running a JSP in NetBeans

Everytime I try to run a JSP in NetBeans I get an error. The error is:
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\NetBeansProjects\WebApplication1\nbproject\build-impl.xml:564: The module has not been deployed.
How do I fix that? The JSP compiles fine but it doesn't run.

Well, try a forum/mailinglist/issuetracker devoted to Netbeans. I haven't used it for more than 5 minutes, so I can't help in detail.

  • REP-0002: Unable to retrieve a string from the Report Builder message file;

    Hi,
I've a custom report in which i need to display a large string, of more than 4000 characters. To cater to this requirement i've written a formula column which displays string upto 4k characters and for a string of size beyond 4k i am calling a procedure which uses a temp table having a clob field.
For a small string the report runs fine but whenever a large string requirement comes into the picture, said procedure gets triggered and i get REP-0002: Unable to retrieve a string from the Report Builder message file.
OPP log for the same gives an output as under:

    Problem Description
When running a *.REP generated report file you get errors:
REP-00002 Unable to retrieve string from message file
REP-01439 Cannot compile program since this is a runtime report
Running the same report using the *.RDF file is successful.
You are running the report with a stored procedure,
OR you are running against an Oracle instance other than the one developed on,
Or, you recently upgraded your Oracle Server.
    Solution Description
    1) Check that the user running the report has execute permissions on any stored
    SQL procedures called. <Note:1049458.6>
    2) Run the report as an .RDF not an .REP , that is remove or rename the .REP
    version of the report. <Note:1012546.7>
    3) Compile the report against the same instance it is being run against.

  • About Report Builder

I goes to report server URL and clicked on Report Builder. It downloaded a small ReportBuilder.exe file. When I tried to run that it showed me a following error. What is the problem here?
    nravhad

    Hi nravhad,
Report Builder in the Report Manager is a ClickOnce application. Based on the error message, the issue may be caused by the application is somehow corrupted or you are use the third-part browser in Windows operation system.
For the first scenario, we can check if the ReportBuilder_3_0_0_0.application is existing in the default folder:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.<X>\Reporting Services\ReportServer\ReportBuilder
Then type ‘/ReportBuilder/ReportBuilder_3_0_0_0.application’ as the Custom Report Builder URL in the Site Settings General page on report manager.
For the second scenario, please directly launch the Report Builder from Internet Explorer. Because not all report functionality is supported by all browsers.
What’s more, you can also download the Report Builder and install locally. Then you can launch it locally rather than from browser.
We can download the Report Builder form the download center:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=6116

  • Custom fonts not displayed when PDF is generated using 10g Report builder

    Hi
I have two fonts , abc.ttf and def.ttf which I have placed under C:\Windows\fonts. One of these displays a logo and the other displays barcode
I have added the environment variable REPORTS_PATH which has value C:\Windows\fonts. I have also added entries for PDF Subset in uifont.ali.
But still when I run the report and out to a PDF file, the fonts are not displayed. They are remapped to some other fonts.
When I check PDF document properties in Adobe reader, under fonts tab it says
    abc
       Type:Type1
       Encoding:ANSI
       Actual Font: Adobe Sans MM
Actual Font Type : Type 1
    def
       Type:Type1
       Encoding:ANSI
       Actual Font: Adobe Sans MM
Actual Font Type : Type 1
    uifont.ali entries
    [ PDF:Subset ]
    # This example shows how to subset Arial True Type font into the PDF file
    # Arial = "Arial.ttf"
    # The True Type font files must exist in any one of the folders specified in
    # REPORTS_PATH.
    abc= "abc.ttf"
    def="def.ttf"
In Oracle reports builder, I am able see these fonts and select them in my report layout
I am able to see the fonts in Preview/screen output while running RDFs in my reports builder, but PDF output doesnt display these fonts
Is there anything else which is required to do ? Do I need to restart the machine after environment variable is added ?

In one PC were Report Builder is installed, we see "COURIER NEW - WESTERN" font and the RDF created / saved in that font works fine on server. I don't know if this helps!

  • Saving report in Report Builder 10.1.2. saves only half of file

    Hi,
I have problems with saving files in Report Builder 10.1.2. After saving a rdf-file it shows only half the size of the original file.
When closing the report in Builder and opening it again it won't open. Also the temp-file is half the size of the original rdf-file during saving.
Can someone help me to solve this? Auto-save in Preferences is turned off. Have tried to open and save files on the network and on the local pc.

    Hi,
Did you used OUTER join?? if you have any suitable Outer join according to my understanding query should return Assignment data but with NULL value, then you can replace as you need it in Reports.

  • WHERE Predicate line works in Aqua Data Studio, not in Report Builder

I’m trying to get a query working in report builder which will pull data back when run in Aqua Data Studio.
It returns a NULL set when working with the same data source from report builder.
    Here is the WHERE clause:
    --WHERE SYSDATE < :REM_DATE
    -- troubleshooting line (=DateAdd("d", 3, Now()))
    WHERE SYSDATE
    < TO_DATE(TO_CHAR(TPOA.POST_DT,
    'MM/DD/YYYY'),
    'MM/DD/YYYY') +
    3
    AND TPOA.DEST_OTHER
    IS NOT NULL
    AND TPOA.AUTH_STATUS_IND =
    'A'
The commented line works in Report Builder.  :REM_DATE has as its default expression =DateAdd(“d”, 3, Now()), used as a means of troubleshooting.
There isn’t a way to populate :REM_DATE before use because forward dependencies aren’t allowed.
Also tried is this line for the first part of the WHERE:
    WHERE SYSDATE
    < TPOA.POST_DT + 3
As well, it works in AD but not in RB.
Here is the full query, which is the 2nd query in a UNION:
    SELECT DISTINCT
    TO_CHAR(TPOA.MATL_ASGN_DT,
    'MM/DD/YYYY')
    AS MATL_ASGN_DT
    ,TPOA.TE_24_NBR
    ,TPOA.POST_DT AS TE24_DATE
    ,SUBSTR(TPOA.DEST_PRODR_SUPP_CD,
    1, 5)
    AS DEST_PS_CD
    ,'N'
    AS DEST_PO_IND
    ,SUBSTR(TPOA.SRC_PRODR_SUPP_CD,
    1, 5)
    AS SRC_PS_CD
    ,SUBSTR(TPOA.SRC_PRODR_SUPP_CD,
    7, 2)
    AS SRC_PS_CD_SFX
    ,TPOA.LPA_IND
    ,SUBSTR(TPOA.DEST_PRODR_SUPP_CD,
    7, 2)
    AS DEST_PS_CD_SFX
    ,SUBSTR(TPOA.DEST_CONT_ALT_ID,
    1, 2)
    AS DEST_PROJ_YR
    ,SUBSTR(TPOA.DEST_CONT_ALT_ID,
    3, 4)
    AS DEST_PROJ_SEQ
    ,TPOA.DEST_OTHER
    ,TPS.PRODR_SUPP_NM AS ABBR_NAME
    ,'SM'
    AS FRM_IND
    FROM VWARE.T_POST_ASG TPOA
    LEFT OUTER JOIN SMDBA.T_PRODR_SUPP TPS
    ON TPOA.SRC_PRODR_SUPP_CD = TPS.PRODR_SUPP_CD
    --WHERE SYSDATE < :REM_DATE
    -- troubleshooting line (=DateAdd("d", 3, Now()))
    WHERE SYSDATE
    < TO_DATE(TO_CHAR(TPOA.POST_DT,
    'MM/DD/YYYY'),
    'MM/DD/YYYY') +
    3
    AND TPOA.DEST_OTHER

    Hi Michael,
What's the version of your Report Builder? When you run the query in query designer of Report Builder, have you got any error/warning message?
In this case, I would suggest you can try to SQL Server Profiler to capture some events do further investigation while run the query in Report Builder.

  • Reports Builder does not react

    Hello,
I've a strange problem. If I want to start my reports Builder (Oracle developer suite->Reports Developer->Reports Builder) I get the normal startup screen (GUI), I see the Oracle Reports Builder -> Oracle developer 10g suite screen but nothing seems to happen after that. So developer does not startup. If I look at my taskmanager I see the task RWBUILDER.exe but no cpu acivities. I'm using Oracle 10g, I've already reinstalled the developer suite again, but it makes no difference.
Any one has an idea what this can bee?
    kind regards,
    Richard van der Haag

    Hello,
In order to know if the problem is related to the Reports Builder window location, you can use the free utility winlister :
    http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/winlister.html
Is there an "entry" for Reports Builder ?
If yes, what is the value for Location ?
    Regards
