Problem starting oc4j.jar
Hi all
I want to run oc4j in a w2k sp3 machine, and I want to do it with a non administrator group's user. When I start it with "java -jar oc4j" I receive an error "Error starting Http-server: (code=10106)", then it shows "Oracle9iAS (9.0.2.1.0) Containers for J2EE initialized", but there's nothing listening. I tried to looking for this error, by I can't find anything.
If I start the container with an user belonging to administrators groups I have no problems. I know it can be troubles creating a port less than 1024 without administratives privileges, but I set port 11500 to start the sever.
I'm really don't know if this is a j2ee problem or a windows problem, but I'm having big headaches with this issue. Could someone help me?

listening in the port where I want to start the oc4j.
Still I tried other ports than 11500, but I always get

What you could check is :
1- Which version of OC4J do you run ?
cd $ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/home
$ORACLE_HOME/jdk/bin/java -jar oc4j.jar -version
2- Which JDK version is being used ?
$ORACLE_HOME/jdk/bin/java -version
3- Which platform do you run OC4J from ?
How much RAM memory do you have ?
4- Which command do you use to launch OC4J ?
Then, check with the README file that comes with OC4J
to see if all the requirements have been respected.

This OC4J is configured to make JMX connections via RMIS and fall back to RMI if the RMIS port is not configured. The RMIS connection on the OC4J instance home on Application Server assoa.locahost is configured but a connection could not be established. The JMX protocol is specified by the oracle.oc4j.jmx.internal.connection.protocol property in opmn.xml

Starting OC4J installed through ( java -jar oc4j.jar -install)
Hi,
I want to use MapViewer. I installed OC4J standalone,using the following command
java -jar oc4j.jar -install and then installed MapViewer in directory "lbs" under Oracle home. After that I updated the following two files
1) http-web-site.xml
2) server.xml
according to the installation guide. I have runned the scripts and imported the MapViewer's dmp into Scott's schema.
My oracle httpService is running and is listening on normal http port i.e. 8080
I have to do the following
1) Start OC4J (How can I do that ? I tried it as
java -jar E:\oracle\j2ee\home\OC4J.jar but it says that the (c:\config\server.xml, System can not find the path specified. Since this is not the actual path, actual one is ... E:\oracle\j2ee\home\config\server.xml ) 2) How to check that OC4J is running or not ?
3) Wot and how to run in browser for viewing the output, i.e. any DML/retrieval from Spatial data/maps...
I know, I m very near to get output, but sometimes it feels so far.
Please help me... You may suggest any book, link, or reply to above questions..

Command line hangs when starting OC4J with MapViewer
Hello,
I have a simple development setup with a stand-alone oc4j instance installed via the MapViewer Quick Start Kit, on an 11g database, on a Windows XP workstation.
The problem: When I start the oc4j instance everything seems to start up successfully - the AS Control, the MapViewer EAR, etc.., but the command line window hangs after the last command is executed. It does not return to the command prompt. And if I close the Command Prompt window the oc4j instance automatically shuts down. Any thoughts on why this is hanging? Or is this normal behavior? Thank you. The text of the startup is shown below.
(Oh...and if you have any idea why I am getting a string of [ConverterRule] WARNINGS, please let me know. Thanks.)

In searching the forum I've only found a couple of things that look similar and they suggest the problem is caused when a project is upgraded. The suggested solution is running the project in JDK 1.5. (see Error Attempting to Run JSP with 10.1.3.0.3.3412
However, my project is a new project, created in 10.1.3, and in the project properties --> compiler settings, I've got the source and target set to 1.4. There hasn't been any upgrade to speak of, and my production environment is JDK 1.4.
I get the same error upon creating a new web application, creating a JSF, placing some Output Text on the page and then attempting to run it.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? If I can't run new applications, I'm in trouble...

I was able to get the server to start up by changing the setting in Project Properties --> Libraries --> J2SE Version to 1.5.
Are you saying, then, that regardless of which version of JDK you use to compile your project (Project Properties --> Compiler --> Source & Target, both 1.4 in my case), in order to run it on the embedded OC4J server you have to use 1.5 in the setting above? I just want to understand this so that I can be sure that my app will run on my production app server, which runs JDK 1.4. That's what I was referring to as "my production environment" in my original post.

Error message when starting OC4J after deploying
Hi, I hope someone can help me. I've been developing a J2EE project in JBuilder9 and OC4J 9.0.3. The problem occurs when starting OC4J after the application has been deployed. I'm using two MDBs and two Session Beans, one Stateless and the other one stateful. I'm using two topics with OJMS. I can access these topics from a standalone application, but when I try to lookup JNDI names from inside EJBs, I get a NamingException (name not found) Please I need some help

Oracle9iAS (9.0.3.0.0) Containers for J2EE initialized
Error when executing standalone application client using EJBs:
javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: No resource named 'TopicConnecionFactories/TablaTopics' found in resource provider 'BeanProcesamientoMensajes'
This error doesn't appear when looking up that topic with a standalone application w/o using EJBs

I installed Oc4j as a standalone package in a directory (Solaris2.6) where
everybody in my group has full access. Now the problem is I'm the only person
who can start the application server by the following:
java -jar oc4j.jar
For other people in the group , they get exceptions like:

ClassNotFoundExceptionusually means that java cannot find a class -- which usually implies a CLASSPATH problem. For your information, the "oracle.dms.instrument.DMSConsole" class is located in the "dms.jar" file which is in the "lib" subdirectory of my OC4J 9.0.3 stand-alone installation.

Hi. I am relatively new to Oracle Spatial and I am trying to install Mapviewer to view data I have loaded into an Oracle9i Database. When I try to access mapviewer from the command line I am getting the following messages. I am getting as far as http://localhost:8888/mapviewer/omserver
but that is where the problem is kicking in. Is there anybody out there who may be able to help me!
P.s. I have installed a standalone version of oc4j.

When I attempt to test if the MapViewer servlet has started correctly by pointing to the oc4j instance as per the manual I am getting the following response which appears to be correct. I am just not too sure where to go from here. (Apologies if I am missing something trivial!)

Exception while starting OC4J 10g
When ever I start OC4J, I get the following exception thrown. Althopugh my container starts. Also when I try to connect using admin_client.jar for deploying any CMP EJB, it fails to connect.
I am using JDK 1.4.2 even when I invoke with JDev 10g java executable I get the same error.
Can some one please help me. I am desperately looking to get started with 10g

The problem is with config/application.xml file shipped with OC4J
It doesn't have an entry to point to the required lib directories
Adding the below two entries resolved the issue

Error 1053 comes out while starting oc4j service through windows services
HI EVERYBODY
I face some problem and I'll be very happy if i recieved any reply from u.
here is my problem :
I used the code which starts/stops OC4J-standalone as a Windows service using
java service for install and uninstall the service(the code is shown down),however the code works well
and the service install and uninstall successfully.
but when I start the service throught the windows servecis manager this error comes out:
* Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion"
and the status of the service stay "starting"*
I found solution by adding "DWORD Value" in the registry and modify it to 60000
but it didn't work and still this error come out.
Any help will be appreciated.

wqbangI managed to solve the problem by setting the "Load All System JAR Files during OC4J Startup" in the "Embeded OC4J Server Preferences" under "Global > Startup".

I don't know much about Java, JMS, ... But recently, I figured out that when I disabled the "Wireless Network Connection" on my computer, it worked fine again!!! I don't have a clue on what's happening, but I would like to know ...

Unable to start OC4J standalone server.
Hi
I have just started using Oracle 10g Portal Server. I have downladed the OC4J standalone and have installed at D:\JDeveloper\oc4j following the instructions of running the admin.jar creating the password. When I try starting the OC4J initializing it works fine starts the server with the message

But when I try to deploy a war file which I have created externally with the entries in aplication.xml

The server never starts up just hangs up with the message
Starting OC4J from D:\JDeveloper\oc4j\j2ee\home ...
If the entries are removed the server starts as usual.
Can anyone let me know where is the problem I need to look at, because the war file works fine if deployed in tomcat or weblogic.

We tried to start oc4j in Linux using following command
[oracle@fa2220 setup]$ oc4j -start
Starting OC4J from /dbfiles/home/oracle/obiee_home/OracleBI/oc4j_bi/j2ee/home ...
It is stopping at this stage without any errors.
Linux Version: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.3 (Tikanga)
We tried to see what is being done in the process, so we did strace and found the following:
strace -p 15924
Process 15924 attached - interrupt to quit
futex(0xb7675bd8, FUTEX_WAIT, 15925, NULL
And we checked the netstat –a | grep 23791 (default ORMI port) and found it is listening on this port.
But we can not access oc4j.
Can someone please help?
