Problem with an ImageIcon

hi, i have a problem. i have two JButtons with image icon, and i want to superpose another JButton with imageIcon on the first button. i really have to make a music keyboard, and that is for the black keys. i have all the white keys, and when a draw the black keys.., it appears behind the white keys... how do i controll wich image will be shown on the front.. thanks for any help and excuseme for my poor english... thanks again.

    First, I have problems with english. I hope u understand without problems that Im trying to say here. Sorry about that.
    Mi problem is whit a JScrollPane. I want to put an image whit a predefined size for draw inside it. I dont have any information about it, just the size. I want to put it in a JPane. The best choice is use the JPane area. The problem is that I want to use a JScrollPane because the image is bigger that the visualization area.
    Im unable to put a Canvas in the ScrollPane, or a JPane whit a predefined size or an image whit a predefined size. Im sure that is a design problem. Somebody can tell me something I can start whit? What do u think is better choice to put inside a JScrollPane?
    I dont send any source code because I dont have anything else that is show in the example.

  • Problem with writing and reading using serialization

    I am having a problem with writing and reading an object that has another object in it. The purpose of the class is to write a order that has multiple items in it. And there will be several orders. This is for an IB project, where one of the requirements is to utilize a hierarchical composite data structure. That is, it is "one that contains more than one element and at least one of the elements is a composite data structure.     ok i got reading to work to a certain extent... but the prob is i cnt seem to save my innerCustOrdObj proprly...when ever i look for a record using the gotorecordbtn, the outerobject, which is the orderDetails, seems to change but the innerCustOrdObj remains the same... heres the new code..

  • Problem with filePathSeperator and /

    Problem with fileSeperatorChar and /. When I use fileSeperatorChar (to lacate a folder), the path is specified wrong. I want my program to run on different OS, so I need this to work.
    If I do this:
    JLabel label = new JLabel("", new ImageIcon("Images/label.gif");
    //or something like that it works. Will this give me multiple platform support?
    But when I try:

    //or something like that They all compile, but I took this off the top of my head. Anyway, when I print out the path for the second technuige, the path reads like this:

    You used filePathSeparator. On Windows you use a semicolon to separate the components of a path, which is a list of directories or jar files, which is why you are getting a semicolon. You want the system property "file.separator" instead. Or use the variable File.separatorChar.

    Your usage of the getLayeredPane() method is something I've never seen before, so I don't know if thats the problem or not.
    How to display a "background image" is asked all the time in the Swing forum. So to familiarize yourself with the forum you can try searching the Swing forum. Using the keywords I highlighted would be a good place to start.

  • Problem with Gif image

    Having a problem with gif image not showing up. It will show up in netscape6.2, but not in IE 5.0. Both are using the java 1.4 plugin. They are basic buttons (zoom in, zoom out, etc) and they actions work, just the icons aren't showing. Any help would be great! Below is a snip of code:

    I used to do a lot of work in this sort of thing. After a while we were able to convince our bosses to use generated HTML (JSPs, etc.), so the problem moved to porting JavaScript to different platforms! (Platforms in this context means the different browser/OS combinations, etc.).
    The only two things I can recommend are:
    - complete control over you code. You will have to fix it! (Tried you apps on a Mac yet?)
    - assume a minimal install. Don't assume users are going to have any fancy tools installed on their PC, unless you are developing an Intranet app, where you know the spec of the machines that are going to be using it.
    As regarding getting IE to use a relative address, I don't think you are going to have any luck their, I'm afraid! (Although I am curious. It has been some time, but I though it did use relative addresses. Are you absolutely sure about this, did you check this out with System.outs and that?

    I have two classes:
    Form1: Its a JPanel class with JProgressBar and JLabel inside.
    FormularioApplet: (the main) Its a JPanel class with a form1 inside.
    I have to download a file from a server and show the progress of the download in the JProgressBar. To make it I do this:
    In Form1 I make a Thread that update the progress bar and gets the fole from the server.
    In FormularioApplet (the main) I call to the method getDownloadedFile from Form1 to get the File.
    THE PROBLEM:
    The execution of FormularioApplet finishes before the Thread of Form1 (with download the file) download the file. Then, when I call in FormularioApplet the variable with the file an Exception: Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-1" java.lang.NullPointerException is generated.
    First main begins his execution, then call to Form1 (a thread) then continues his execution and when the execution is finished ends the execution os Form1 and his thread.
    How can I do for main class call the function and the Thread download his file after main class assign the file of return method?
    How can I pass information froma class include an a main class. Form1 can't send to main (because main class made a Form1 f1 = new Form1()) any information from his end of the execution. I think if Form1 can say to main class that he finishes is job, then main class can gets the file.

    Additional things to try.
    Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

  • Problems with image scaling

    I'm facing a real problem with image scaling
    I've used several algorithms but it all has defects but the most common thing is the out of memory error after several enlargments...

    Did you take into account that the getScaledInstance() -method creates a completly new Image?
    So if you use it like in
    ImageIcon icon1=new ImageIcon("Blah.gif");
    ImageIcon icon2=new ImageIcon(icon1.getImage().getScaledInstance(400,400,SCALE_FAST);
    you will end up with 2 different Images which have their own data and memory requirements.
    even if you use something like
    ImageIcon icon1=new ImageIcon("Blah.gif");
    Image i=icon1.getImage();
    icon1.setImage(i.getScaledInstance(200,200,SCALE_FAST));
    You will need enough memory to store the data for the original image, as well as the data for the scaled
    version of the image, at least for the time that it take the JRE to create the scaled version. You never know when the garbage collector kicks in to delete you old data so it could be that this takes some time and until
    that moment your memory is not available. If your now doing several of the scaling operations, and there is no chance for the garbage collector to do its work, you will run out of memory.

  • GUI - Problem with GridBag

    Hi everyone,
    I have been trying to get this GUI built from the ground up and I have encountered a problem with the GridBag(exception error that the fields being added can not be done. Also, my method main seems to be off track, I have a working program which the display fields have been modified to display object and everything else is the same except that I can not get the GUI to run.

    I took your advice and decided to take a different approach to the problem I am having, I decided to stay somewhat with the basics with little knowledge I have about coding.     hint #1:
    1) When it tells you: "ShowAFrame.java:13: cannot resolve symbol" it's saying that there's a problem with line #13, specifically, that there's a symbol that it doesn't understand.
    2) Look at the carot. What's it pointing to?
    Now, put 1 and 2 together. The compiler is telling you that there's a word on line 13 that it doesn't understand, and then it shows an arrow pointing to a word on line 13. Any guesses as to the culprit?

    Ok... The above lines givs a nullpointer but just before it does, "crap" is printed... I,we read that createImage returns null if graphicEnviroment.isHeadless returns true... And if I get everything right that meens that the graphic eniroment doesn't support the image I'm trying to create...
    Am I way off here or have I got it right? And if it is that way, how can I make the graphicEnviroment support my image?

    The reference to the classe Imagepanel.java line 258 has: icones[c].setImage(imatgesR[c]);
    where icones is an array of ImageIcon: in the previous code it has :
    ImageIcon [] icones;
    and the magic sentence:
    for(int c=0;c<=icono.size()/*-1*/;c++){                         
                   icones[c]= new ImageIcon();
                   icones[c].setImage(imatgesR[c]);                         
    And imatgesR is an array of Image
    Image [] imatgesR;
    What is trying to do the program is convert an array of Image to an array of ImageIcon which will be insert in a JLabel.
    What's the problem with this sentence now?? There is some other way to do the same??
    I've tried to convert all the array in Vectors and the problem persist, the setImage doesn't work!!

    I'm experiencing a similar problem with an applet programmed (not by me) between 2004 and 2006. The applet works during testing with all JRE versions before 1.6.0_11 but fails with 6.0_11 and 6.0_12, at least on my machine w/ Win XP. (But the error does not occur for the developer when using Scientific Linux.) The error thrown is:
