Problem with java source procedure

Hello everyone, I've set up a simple example that is supposed to create an fdf file on the server. I tested my program and it works fine.
Now I'm trying to do the same thing except that I would like to have my java code in the database. Here's what I've done:
# on database in opus schema
create or replace and compile java source named testpdf as
import java.io.*;
import com.adobe.fdf.*;
import com.adobe.fdf.exceptions.*;
public class TestPDF
     public static void Test()
try
     FDFDoc outputFDF = new FDFDoc();
     outputFDF.SetValue("status", "En traitement!");
     outputFDF.SetValue("Date", "01-01-2006");
     outputFDF.SetValue("Name", "Alexandre Folgueras");
     outputFDF.SetValue("Address", "12 Saratoga Ave");
     outputFDF.SetValue("City", "Saratoga");
     outputFDF.SetValue("State", "CA");
outputFDF.SetFile("/tmp/java_pdf/GenerateFDF.pdf");
outputFDF.Save("/tmp/java_pdf/alex.fdf");
catch (Exception e)
e.printStackTrace();
create or replace procedure pdf_doc
AS LANGUAGE JAVA
NAME 'TestPDF.Test()';
commit;
Everything seems to be OK by when I run it, my file does not get created even though I don't get any errors.
Anybody knows why?
Thanks in advance!

Hello,
I'm also creating a class with static functions and putting it as a Java source in Oracle but I have problems with imports. In my case, I use MQSeries JAR files and when I put my code in Oracle, I have warnings "Java created with compilation errors". It's just about the lines where I create/use MQSeries objects, because when I comment them, I have no more errors.
I see you also use specific imports with PDF, so I would like to know where you put the JAR files so that the Java source can be compiled correctly.
Thanks in advance,

  • Performance problem with java stored procedure

    hi,
    i developped a java class, then I stored it in Oracle 8.1.7.
    This class contains several import of other classes stored in the database.
    It works, but the execution perfomances are disappointing. It's very long. I guess, that's because of the great number of classes to load that are necessary for my class execution.
    I tried to increase the size of the java pool (I parameter 70 Mo in the java_pool_size parameter of the init.ora), but the performance is not much better.
    Has anyone an idea to increase the performance of this execution of my class ?
    In particular, is there a way to keep permanently in memory the java objects used by my class ?

    before running Java, the database session needs to be Java enabled; this might be the reason why it is taking so long. If this is the case, you should see an improvement in subsequent calls, once a database session is Java enabled, other users can benefit from it.

    I have some performance issue with java stored procedure. Hope some one will be able to help me out. I'm using java stored procedures in my application and basically these procedures are used to do some validation and form the XML message of the database tables. I have noticed that when I call the PL/SQL wrapper function, it is taking time to load the java class and once the class is loaded the execution is faster. Most of the time is spent for loading the class rather than executing the function. if I reduce the class load time, I can improve the performance drastically. Do any one of you know how to reduce the class load time. The following are the platform and oracle version.

  • Problems with java stored procedure.

    I have a java stored procedure that uses a package called RmiJdbc
    which allows calling remote JDBC data sources from any java capable
    machine.
    I've loaded the RmiJdbc classes into oracle via the loadjava
    command and everything seems to come up valid.
    The stored procedure does a Class.forName() to get the driver
    registered, than attempts to connect to the remote RMI driver.
    The particular line it dies on is this (see the error below):
    c = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:rmi:" + rmiHost + "/" + url);
    A mangled version of this (minus the Oracle specific stuff) works
    from the command line correctly. Can somebody point me in a
    direction to figure out what's going on here?
    THanks,
    Eric

  • E-Commerce for mySAP ERP: Problem with java source code

    Hello everybody,
    we try to implement web shops on the basis of ECO for ERP 5.0. The shop is running fine and we want to start with some extensions in java classes and web UI with NWDI  2004s.
    We created a new track and our own application as described in "Development And Extension Guide". We need to extend some of the original java classes for the b2b scenario and of course the user interface.
    We got the information from SAP, that the original java classes are not intended
    to be modified by customers and therefore it is not intended to create a project with NWDI that contains that source code. But we should be able to create own DCs and copy the source code into it and then modify them on own risk.
    We tried to do that, but always got errors.
    Due to customer requirements we have to make some modifications otherwise we can not use this solution.
    If there is anybody who has already some experience with this topic we
    would be very glad to get some hints.
    Kind Regards
    Helmut

    Hello Raju,
    I am sorry, but I am no technical consultant, but I am have to change
    the already installed application for our customers.
    Nethertheless I try to give you some information I have. I had a look at SAP note 883948 you mentioned. The software components which are listed under XECO are the software components which contain the E-Commerce Application. You also find them in the "Development and Extension Guide".
    There are some guides under  http://service.sap.com/instguides -> mySAP Business Suite Solutions -> mySAP ERP -> mySAP ERP 2005 -> Installation. In the document "SAP E-Commerce for mySAP ERP: Business Scenario Configuration Guide" there is a table of the needed components on a high level.
    From the view of the application you need the E-Commerce application itself, the TREX for searching in the product catalog, the IPC if you want to have price calculation in the shop or configuration of products with optional components.
    Hope this helps a bit
    Kind Regards
    Helmut

    Hello again,
    I read the documentation of 9i and found some hints about different TCP/IP socket handling of 9i and a standard JVM.
    There are some parts that give hints but I couldn't find a sample code to show how to handle the differences.
    Could anyone tell me how to handle the differences or give some links to sample code?
    Thanks

  • Problem with java swing button and loop

    Problem with java swing button and loop
    Im using VAJ 4.0. and Im doing normal GUI application. I have next problem.
    I have in the same class two jswing buttons named start (ivjGStart) and stop (ivjGStop) and private static int field named Status where initial value is 0. This buttons should work something like this:
    When I click on start button it must do next:
    Start button must set disenabled and Stop button must set enabled and selected. Field status is set to 1, because this is a condition in next procedure in some loop. And then procedure named IzvajajNeprekinjeno() is invoked.
    And when I click on stop button it must do next:
    Start button must set enabled and selected and Stop button must set disenabled.
    Field status is set to 0.
    This works everything fine without loop do .. while inside the procedure IzvajajNeprekinjeno(). But when used this loop the start button all the time stay (like) pressed. And this means that a cant stop my loop.
    There is java code, so you can get better picture:
    /** start button */
    public void gStart_ActionEvents() {
    try {
    ivjGStart.setEnabled(false);
    ivjGStop.setEnabled(true);
    ivjGStop.setSelected(true);
    getJTextPane1().setText("Program is running ...");
    Status = 1;
    } catch (Exception e) {}
    /** stop button */
    public void gStop_ActionEvents() {
    try {
    ivjGStart.setEnabled(true);
    ivjGStart.setSelected(true);
    ivjGStop.setEnabled(false);
    getJTextPane1().setText("Program is NOT running ...");
    Status = 0;
    } catch (Exception e) {
    /** procedure IzvajajNeprekinjeno() */
    public void IzvajajNeprekinjeno() {  //RunLoop
    try {
    int zamik = 2000; //delay
    do {
    Thread.sleep(zamik);
    PreberiDat(); //procedure
    } while (Status == 1);
    } catch (Exception e) {
    So, I'm asking what I have to do, that start button will not all the time stay pressed? Or some other aspect of solving this problem.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Tomi

    This is a multi thread problem. When you start the gui, it is running in one thread. Lets call that GUI_Thread so we know what we are talking about.
    Since java is task-based this will happen if you do like this:
    1. Button "Start" is pressed. Thread running: GUI_Thread
    2. Event gStart_ActionEvents() called. Thread running: GUI_Thread
    3. Method IzvajajNeprekinjeno() called. Thread running: GUI_Thread
    4. Sleep in method IzvajajNeprekinjeno() on thread GUI_Thread
    5. Call PreberiDat(). Thread running: GUI_Thread
    6. Check status. If == 1, go tho 4. Thread running: GUI_Thread.
    Since the method IzvajajNeprekinjeno() (what does that mean?) and the GUI is running in the same thread and the event that the Start button has thrown isn't done yet, the program will go on in the IzvajajNeprekinjeno() method forever and never let you press the Stop-button.
    What you have to do is do put either the GUI in a thread of its own or start a new thread that will do the task of the IzvajajNeprekinjeno() method.
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/index.html
    This tutorial explains how to build a multi threaded gui.

  • Problem with setting Source Level in Sun Studio 2

    I've got problem with setting Source Level to 1.5 in Sun Studio 2. When I try to set it to 1.5 in Project properties and click Ok everything seem to go well, but when I open Project Properties again Source Level is set to 1.4. I need this to work cause I started to lear Java recently and I want to use foreach loop.
    Please help

    I'm just citing an example using Date().
    In fact, whether I use DateFormat or Calendar, it shows the same result.
    When I set the date to 1 Jan 1950 0 hours 0 minutes 0 seconds,
    jdk1.4.2 will always return me 1 Jan 1950 0 hours 10 minutes 0 seconds.
    It works correctly under jdk1.3.1

  • Problems with java j2re using mozilla

    Hi,
    i'm using j2re1.4.2_05 plugin for mozilla in linux (Fedora Core 2). My internet access goes throught a router (SMC Networks ISDN Barricade SMC7301TA). It's settings can be edited throught a web browser LAN connection. And here the problems begin. On routers settings page a java output console (for error and other messages) is running, which doesn't work, despite java applications on other web pages work well (I tested it on sun's java test page and it's working properly). Java console exits the following errorr message:
    >

         ... 10 more
    Is there a way to fix this problem? Cause without the command output it's mearly unpossible to configure the router.

    Yes i can make changes. Not everything is realised with java, just the output console, which reports if the changes i made succeded, prints out logs, gives additional info about some settings etc. So, i can make changes, but i have no response, for example: everytime i save something i don't know if the save was succesful. I can't take a look at IP routing table and DHCP configuration...
    On windows xp, using internet explorer (the default version for xp) everything works perfect. But mozilla for windows has also problems with java. I know i can still change settings on wins, but right now i'm having some problems with networking on linux and i have to set things up in it (besides i use wins only because of school purposes).

  • Discussion Forum Portlet - Problems with JAVA and UTF8?

    Hi
    I installed the Discussion Forum Portlet successfully. It also seems that almost everything works fine. There's only a problem if I have new posts that include special German characters (Umlaute) like ä, ö, ü or special French characters like é, è or ç. They are saved correctly in the table but if you view the post the characters are not displayed correctly.
    Example
    input: ça va?
    result: ça va?
    I know that there are problems with Java and UTF8 Database. Is there a possibility to change this (bug)?
    Regards

  • Early problems with Java on my Macbook.

    Hi, I am a former high school computer science student and I'm having problems with Java as I've recently moved from Windows to a Mac. The following is a letter I wrote to my prior computer science teacher but he does not seem to be responding. I think all you need to know is that DrawHouse and JumpingJacks are simple Java programs we made in class that utilize an object called DrawingTool (which is a graphics environment). DrawingTool is contained in gpdraw.jar and also was contained in our class' apcslib.jar. Also, FileInput is a class contained in apcslib.jar.
    I basically transferred all my JAR files (apcslib.jar, etc.) from my Windows computer to my Mac. I didn't think anything was wrong or corrupted with them because they're the same JAR files that I used for my Java programs on my Windows comp in high school and when I run those Java programs now, they still work. But for some reason if I try to run, say, DrawHouse or JumpingJacks with those same programs on my Macbook, it gives me the following errors on runtime (it compiles fine).
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException
         at apcslib.DrawingTool.move( DrawingTool.java:456)
         at java.awt.Component.setLocation( Component.java:1705)
         at java.awt.Window.init( Window.java:289)
         at java.awt.Window.<init>( Window.java:318)
         at java.awt.Frame.<init>( Frame.java:419)
         at java.awt.Frame.<init>( Frame.java:384)
         at javax.swing.JFrame.<init>( JFrame.java:150)
         at apcslib.DrawingTool.<init>( DrawingTool.java:45)
         at apcslib.DrawingTool.<init>( DrawingTool.java:106)
         at JumpingJacks.main( JumpingJacks.java:35)
    So I thought, maybe I'm not importing the JAR files correctly. But if I import gsdraw.jar or a different apcslib.jar that I downloaded from some random teacher's website on the internet (and that also happens to have DrawingTool in it) then it compiles and runs fine. So I thought, ok, maybe it's a problem with this one particular apcslib.jar that I transferred from my Windows computer. But like I said, DrawHouse and JumpingJacks run fine on my windows comp, and most ridiculous of all, I tried running Tasmania on my Macbook (which uses the FileInput class from your apcslib.jar) and THAT works fine! So to recap, I'm not importing the JAR files wrong and at times there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the apcslib.jar you gave us and probably not anything wrong with my IDE, seeing that importing of other JAR files works fine (I'm using eclipse and/or xcode, and the same problem occurs with both). Now of course, I could just go ahead and use the apcslib that I downloaded from the internet, but it's very inconvenient since it doesn't match your own apcslib's contents (for example, it doesn't have FileInput). By the way, I've also tried adding the JARS directly to the Java Extensions instead of importing them as external JARS, but that doesn't solve the problem. I've also attached the apcslib.jar in case you think that it's somehow corrupted or something....
    Do you have any idea about what could be wrong or where I should go from here?
    Thanks for all your help!
    Bryan Huh

    Thanks for the reply, but if it is a problem with how
    I'm using DrawingTool, then shouldn't it run with
    errors on my Windows comp too?Maybe, maybe not. If you're doing something that's correct on one but not the other - using file names for Windows on Linux Mac), for instance.
    The same EXACT source
    code will compile and run fine on my Windows comp,
    but run with errors on my Macbook. And if it's a bug
    with DrawingTool, then shouldn't my Windows comp also
    encounter the problem and run with errors?No. the DT programmer could have done the same thing, using code that's correct on Windows but not on Linux. Or there could be a difference in the Java versions on the couputers and code that's valid in the later version is failing in the earlier, or vice versa.

  • Problem with Java and Windows (Mainly Vista and UAC)

    Hi all,
    I am having a problem with a program that I've devoloped. The program itself is packaged as a jar and I plan to deploy it across multiple platforms eventually however right now i am only concerned about windows based systems. I have made an installer for a windows baised systems using NSIS to install the software files. I made the installer as I need several java packages to be installed so the program would work (JAI, J3D, JAI ImageIO) and I also require the program to have fileassociations on windows.
    I know that this is not what java is about, however the majority of the users will be on windows baised systems so I've decided that OS specific installers is the best option.
    During the process I have noticed that there are several key problem with java for this type of application!
    The first issue that I have come across is getting file associations to work on java. As a .jar is not an excutable it is not possible to directly associate a filetype with it in java so to overcome this I currently run the program from a .bat files and also the program requires large memory so this also allows me to run the program with -xmx. The batch file that I use is :
    <code>
    cd PATH TO PROGRAM
    start javaw -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true -Xmn100M -Xms500M -Xmx1000M -jar "PATH TO PROGRAM\program.jar" %1 -vram 134217728
    pause;
    </code>
    Ok so all this appears to work fine and allows windows to have file associations and start the program and thats all works perfectly but this is a non-ideal solution. Has anyone got any advice on improving this?
    The next problem that I have appears to be a problem with Vista and UAC (user access control). When a user installs the program and installs the program into the program files directory I found that the program did not work and kept saying that I did not have access to the files in the current directory. This is a problem as I read and write settings files during program execution.
    On a Vista system UAC prevents file write operations into the Program Files directory unless the program has requested elevated status even if the user is a full administrator. The probem is that there appears to be no real way to achieve this under java that I'm aware of...
    Has anyone else had this probem and has a suitable solution?
    Any advice on these issues would realy be appricated.
    Regards
    Joey

    Ok so i've kinda found a solution, its not ideal but its very good. I found this program called Elevate
    A link to the site I got it was
    http://www.wintellect.com/cs/blogs/jrobbins/archive/2007/03/27/elevate-a-process-at-the-command-line-in-vista.aspx
    This program allows you start java with a UAC dialog for high access using
    Elevate java -jar myjar.jar
    This then allows you to have full access using java... I guess it could be dangerous but it does the job.

    I use an e-procurement system at work and yesterday I could not get my parts list from the suppliers web site to display in our in-house eprocurment finance package.
    There is not a problem with the finance package. There is not a problem with the suppliers web site. I have verified both of these by other colleagues being able to complete what I am trying to do.
    The difference between my version of Firefox and my colleagues' is that I am on version 6.0.1 and they are on 6.0.
    I have had problems with Java not displaying certain animations on the suppliers web site but, my colleague does not and I am suspicious that this is the problem. Can anyone verify this please and what can I do about it. My Java updates are up-to-date as of yesterday and are automatic.
    Thanks.

    I was quite amazed I never got a reply to this, in the past people here have been helpful. In any case I was finally able to enter this website on the exceptions list in the Java panel, and I believe it is okay  now.
