Problem with my socket!!!!!

Hi!!!!!!.
I need to print a "Hello Server" in the server. my code is this:
The server:
public static void main(String ar[])
ServerSocket s=null;
try
s=new ServerSocket(5432);
Socket s2=new Socket("localhost",5432);
while(true)
Socket s1=s.accept();
BufferedReader br=new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(s2.getInputStream()));
System.out.println(br.readLine());
br.close();
s1.close();
}catch(Exception e)
e.printStackTrace();
the client:
public static void main(String ar[])
try
Socket s1=new Socket("localhost",5432);
BufferedWriter bw=new BufferedWriter(new OutputStreamWriter(s1.getOutputStream()));
bw.write("Hello socket");
s1.close();
}catch(Exception e)
e.printStackTrace();
but only print the null value in the server. What happened with that?.
Thanks an sorry for my little english.
Greeting for Venezuela!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Sorry!!!!!.
The real code is this:
public static void main(String ar[])
ServerSocket s=null;
try
s=new ServerSocket(5432);
while(true)
Socket s1=s.accept();
BufferedReader br=new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(s1.getInputStream()));
System.out.println(br.readLine());
br.close();
s1.close();
}catch(Exception e)
e.printStackTrace();
the client:
public static void main(String ar[])
try
Socket s1=new Socket("localhost",5432);
BufferedWriter bw=new BufferedWriter(new OutputStreamWriter(s1.getOutputStream()));
bw.write("Hello socket");
s1.close();
}catch(Exception e)
e.printStackTrace();
Thats code is wrong, what is the problem?.
Thanks!!!!

• Problem with the socket and the standard output stream

Hy, I have a little problem with a socket program. It has the server and the client. The problem is that the client at one point in the program, cannot print messages in the console.
My program does the next: the server waits connections, when a client connects to it, the server gets outputstream to the socket and writes two strings on it. Meanwhile, the client gets the inputstream to the socket and reads on it with a loop the two strings written by the server . The strings are printed by the client in the console. The problem starts here; once the read strings are printed ,I mean, after the loop, there are other System.out.println in the client but the console doesnt print anything . It curious that only when I comment on the server code the line that says: "br.readLine()" just before the catch, the client prints all the System.out.println after the loop but why?
Here is the code:
Server code:
public class MyServerSocket {
public MyServerSocket() {
try{
ServerSocket server= new ServerSocket(2000);
System.out.println("servidor iniciado");
Socket client=server.accept();
System.out.println("Client connected");
OutputStream os=client.getOutputStream();
PrintWriter pw= new PrintWriter(os);
String cadena1="cadena1";
String cadena2="cadena2";
pw.println(cadena1);
pw.println(cadena2);
pw.flush();
InputStream is=client.getInputStream();
InputStreamReader isr= new InputStreamReader(is);
BufferedReader br= new BufferedReader(isr);
br.readLine(); //If a comment this line, the client prints after the loop, all the System.out....
catch (IOException e) {
// TODO: handle exception
public static void main(String[] args) {
new MyServerSocket
Client code:
public class MyClientSocket {
public MyClientSocket () {
try{
Socket client= new Socket("localhost",2000);
InputStream is=client.getInputStream();
InputStreamReader isr= new InputStreamReader(is);
BufferedReader br= new BufferedReader(isr);
String read;
while((read=br.readLine())!=null){
System.out.println(read);
//These messages are not printed unless I comment the line I talked about in the server code
System.out.println("leido");
System.out.println("hola");
}catch (IOException e) {
public static void main(String[] args) {
new MyClientSocket
}

You are right but with this program the loop ends. As you see, the first class, the Server, writes to the socket one text file. The second class, the client, reads the text file in his socket written by the server and writes it to a file in his machine.
NOTE: The loop in the client ends and the server doesnt make any close() socket or shutdownOutput() .

• Strange problem with SSL Sockets using more than 10 Clients

Hi
Im using Jsse ( JDK 1.4.2_06 ). I have coded a Client/Server Applikation acting over SSLSockets or over unsecured Sockets. If I use unsecured Sockets everthing works fine, but if I use SSLSockets for the Connection and about 20 Clients, the Clients often cant connect to the Server and the following Exception was thrown:
java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect
Could it be that there is some strange problem with SSLServerSockets relating to this phenomenon?
If I use only a few Clients the Exception occurs never or only sometimes.
Has anyboby an idea what is happaning there?
Regards Chrisli

Hi
From the description of your scenario, you have coded your own server side of the application. I would advise that you consider moving your application to run under Tomcat framework and test if you still get the same exception.

• Performance problems with java sockets

Hi ,
I written a server class that simply writes the numbers and the client simply reads those numbers and prints them. When I run the both client and server on tha same machine there is no data loss found. But when I run the server on different machine than client I found heavy dataloss.(while theserver written numbers from 1-9000 the client is able read only 6000 plus). The data loss is increased when the data read from the server socket created by the VB application. Here with i am pasting the code snippet for the Server and the Client java files . Please help me in solving this problem.

• Problem with blocking socket.getInput/Output stream :-(

Hi there!
I have a typical client/server application and the problem, that opening the streams leads to clocking behaviour.
This is how I open the streams on the server-side
sock = ssock.accept();
outStream = new ObjectOutputStream(new BufferedOutputStream(sock.getOutputStream()));
inStream = new ObjectInputStream(new BufferedInputStream(sock.getInputStream()));and this is how I open it on the client-side:
Socket sock = new Socket(host, port);
outStream = new ObjectOutputStream(new BufferedOutputStream(sock.getOutputStream()));
//inStream = new ObjectInputStream(new BufferedInputStream(sock.getInputStream()));If I leave the inStreeam-Statement uncommented, everything works fine, but as soon I try to catch the input-stream both, the server and the client-side block foreever.
Any ideas whats wrong?
Thank you in advance, lg Clemens

Oh my god, what a brain-dead java-designer played with the thought tha creating a ObjectOutputStream does not lead to a flush() on the underlaying streams ???!!!
Its easy if you know the way to go (same on both sides):
1.) get the Outputstream / create the ObjectOutputStream
2.) flush the ObjectOutputStream (so that the versioning-infp etc is exchanged)
3.) create ObjectInputStream
Step 2 is just extremly stupid in my eyes!

• Problem with data socket server

We have developed a program (from LabVIEW 6.1 running on Windows NT) consisting of a main executable and four other executables dedicated to collecting various i/o information. The four i/o executables convert raw data into process data and pass it on to the main executable using Data Sockets. The data is assembled as a cluster, then flattened into a string, which is published to a data socket variable. The data cluster contains a time stamp used by the main executable to verify i/o is being updated periodically (at least once a second). The main executable generates an alarm if the timestamp gets to be more than 5 to 15 seconds old, depending on the expected data. Typically, this alarm never happens, unless an i/o device is powered down o
r disconnected, or an executable or Data Socket Server is terminated.
The problem we are is experiencing is that false alarms are being generated, at precise intervals of exactly 5 days, 18 hours, 1 minute, and 1 second. The alarm condition occurs then clears immediately. The only thing I can think of is the data socket is somehow "cleared" for some reason at this interval, causing the main executable to momentarily read a time stamp of zero, and generate an alarm. Is there anything that might be corrupting the data sockets at a long interval like this? The worst thing is that the alarm horn gets falsely triggered, so we are trying to resolve this but can not see anything in any of the code to cause such an occurrence.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello Matt,
Thank you for reading & responding. I should try to summarize this specific application in a little more detail.
We have built a manufacturing tool for a customer that is controlled by a single Windows NT PC, for which we have developed 5 executables using LabView 6.1. The main executable provides the user interface. The other four executables are dedicated to control & monitoring of specific i/o devices (serial or IEEE-488). The i/o executables pass data to and receive commands from the main using data sockets. The PC is not on any type of network. The main executable supports an optional SEMI standard host link through its ethernet port, but that is not currently active or connected. A total of 13 data sockets are used, to implement si
mple "one way" traffic through any socket, making buffering unnecessary. Some data sockets (i/o data to and from main) are updated a few times a second at most, commands from the main may only be updated a few times a day.
Data from each of the i/o executables includes a time stamp indicating the last valid i/o hardware read time. The main uses this data from each i/o executable to determine whether i/o hardware is responding properly - if the timestamp gets to be anywhere from 5 to 15 seconds old (depending on which i/o is being checked), an i/o failure alarm for that device is raised.
What seems to be happening is that, periodically, precisely every 496,861 seconds, two or more of the timestamps are found to be too old; I am assuming some external event is momentarily clearing socket data & the zero value timestamps look very old, thus triggering alarms at the exact same second. The alarm conditions clear up in less than one second.
I wonder what you mean by "the datasocket
server resetting"? Is this documented anywhere?
Thanks for plowing through this wordy description, I appreciate any help you can suggest.

• Problems with data socket connection

I have two computers on a network both running labview. I would like to
exchange the value of a variable in both directions. For example
computer A sets the variable to a certain value, computer B reacts and
changes this variable. Computer A now reads the new value.
So I tried this using (front panel) data sockets but I could not
establish a connection the way I want it. Also I couldn't find answers
here or in the labview help file, so I hope you can give me a short
hint on how to do that (do I need to run socket server on both
machines? What IP address do I need to enter in the front panel dialog?)
Thank you very much,
Michael

Thanks for the Port number, I got it to work now.
I will summarise what was necessary to establish a connetion in case other people are interested:
If you need a bidirectional communication between computer A (IP:192.168.0.1)
and B (IP: 192.168.0.2) the following steps may be necessary:
- Run DataSocket Server on *both* computers before you start LabView
For communication A to B:
- Select a variable on computer A, and enter the following in the connect to field:
"dstp://192.168.0.1/var1", click on "publish"
- Create a variable of the same type on machine B and enter in the connect to field:
"dstp://192.168.0.1/var1", click on "subscribe"
For communication from B to A do the following:
- Select a variable on computer B, and enter the following in the connect to field:
"dstp://192.168.0.2/var2", click on "publish"
- Create a variable of the same type on machine A and enter in the connect to field:
"dstp://192.168.0.2/var2", click on "subscribe"
Maybe this is not the most elegant way because I don't know how to use the "Publish and subscribe" field
but at least it works this way.

That return 0 is there because the method should return an int, so the compiler wont bother.

Obviously you're getting an IOException which you are ignoring. Never do that. Try printing something in its catch block.

• Strange problem with DatagramSocket and DatagramPacket.

Hi!
I got a strange problem with UDP sockets:
Client (hardware device) send binary data messages, consisting of bytes and shorts fields (8 and 16 bits). But when I tried to read byte array, received from socket, I got some type anomaly. For example:
byte[] buffer = new byte[1024];
DatagramPacket packet = new DatagramPacket(buffer, 1024);
socket.receive(packet);
byte[] data = packet.getData();
System.out.println("Received data:");
for (int i = 0; i < packet.getLength(); i++) {
System.out.printf("%h:", data);
I got such thing: 34:4:fffffff1:ffffffdb:ffffffdc:20:1:1:0:2:50
If I try to parse it using ByteArrayInputStream and DataInputStream
ByteArrayInputStream is = new ByteArrayInputStream(packet.getData());
DataInputStream dis = new DataInputStream(is);
int head = dis.readByte();
int recvinfo = dis.readByte();
short count = (short)dis.readShort();
System.err.printf("Decoded:\n head: %h\n recvinfo: %h\n count: %h\n",
head, recvinfo, count);i got following:
Decoded:
head: 34
recvinfo: 4
count: fffff1db
So I get Integer entries in byte?! array. I also got Integer even I try to read and cast it as short in short!!! variable.
Please help!
P.S. Sorry for my bad English.

Rather fortunate that it auto-casts(or rather, that 0xFF is int by default, rather than attempting any type-detection as most languages do), as otherwise the brackets would have been in the wrong place. If it was still a byte after the "& 0xFF", sign extension would still occur.
For the sake of the less bit-literate reading this thread, it should be explained that the reason for this was large bytes being interpreted as negative numbers, which translate to negative int, which in hexa become very large ints. That's about as verbose as I can be about this without writing the equivalent of a wikipedia entry about 2s complement.

Thanks,

I was tempted to move this over to the InDesign SDK forum where there are coders, but there isn't a lot of traffic over there, so I'm going to leave this open here with the advice that you probably won't get an answer from anyone here becasue we are, for the most part, not folks who work with code beyond scripting (and very few scripters hang out here, either).
You should cross-post over there yourself and hope someone who understnds the qusetion sees it in one place or the other.

• Problem with socket security

Hi,
I'm trying to make socket connection from within air application, but no way. I'm browsing google for almost 2 days, follow all possible solutions, but avidently I dont understund somthing cause I'm not able to do anything.
Every time sandbox security violation..... I need make some simple socket data exchange between my air, and OS. I do not have any web server and no any other kind of network ability. I write down stupid socket server, which is waiting for policy request, and for my other requests (it function 100%, tested with Telnet, so no way to have problem on my socket server side).
The strange thing is that my application do not produce any request for socket policy file, neither at 843 port (for default), neither at my custom location with namual
Security.loadPolicyFile("xmlsocket://ip:port"); call
This is my primitive code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:WindowedApplication xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
layout="vertical">
<mx:Script>
<![CDATA[
private var s:XMLSocket = null;
private function test():void{
Security.loadPolicyFile("xmlsocket://127.0.0.1:25013");
if(!s){
s = new XMLSocket();
s.addEventListener(DataEvent.DATA, onData);
s.addEventListener(Event.ACTIVATE, onActivate);
s.addEventListener(Event.CONNECT, onConnect);
s.addEventListener(Event.DEACTIVATE, onDeactivate);
s.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, onError);
s.addEventListener(SecurityErrorEvent.SECURITY_ERROR, onSecurity);
s.connect("127.0.0.1", 25013);
private function onActivate(e:Event):void{
debug.text += "Activated\r";
private function onConnect(e:Event):void{
debug.text += "Connected\r";
var o:XML = <request cmd="10"/>;
s.send(o);
private function onDeactivate(e:Event):void{
debug.text += "Deactivated\r";
private function onError(e:IOErrorEvent):void{
debug.text += e.text + "\r";
private function onSecurity(e:SecurityErrorEvent):void{
debug.text += e.text + "\r";
private function onData(e:DataEvent):void{
debug.text += e.data;
s.close();
]]>
</mx:Script>
<mx:Button label="Test" click="test()"/>
<mx:TextArea id="debug" width="100%" height="100%"/>
</mx:WindowedApplication>
Any help will be apresciated.

Hi,
It pass some time but if i remember well, my problem was that i did
not terminate stream output form my server vs air application, and it
returns this security error.
When I send '\0' at the end of my message it work correctly. Yes the
server was my own written socket server (c++ using boost libraries).
Laco.
Sorry late response I'm on hollydays

So, how did you walk around the problem? Did you have a control on how server responds?
My test case failed similarly. However, the target server is a public web service.
Will appreciate your answers!

• Problem with socket packaging

There seems to be a problem with the plastic cpu clip i work as a tech in a computer store we build many systems with msi boards, the plastic clip on the 915G series most times has fallen off and pins in the cpu socket have been damaged.
You should use a plastic insert under the cpu hood to prevent it from falling off.

Quote
Not sure either why DelUK thinks this is not a suitable topic for this forum.
Probably because Del interpreted "You should use a plastic insert under the cpu hood to prevent it from falling off." to mean that "You" was MSI, and not the members of this forum. Oddly enough, I interpreted this the same way. I don't see where Del indicated the topic was not suitable, though.
As Del said, and as mentioned in the Forum Rules, MSI does not participate here. If you feel there is a manufacturing problem, contact MSI directly.
