Probleme avec IOS 5 - connection free wifi public (France)

Bonjour à vous.
Voici mon soucis :

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • IPhone 5 upgraded to ios 7 connected to wifi no internet

I upgraded to ios 7 and ever since then I have had wifi issues.  At first I got the "unable to connect" message.  Now I'm able to connect but once I'm on nothing will update.  I can't access the internet, Facebook, Gmail nothing will work.  As soon as I turn off the wifi everything will work.  This only happens on my home wifi which is through Comcast.  I have no problem at work (which is also a secure network).  I tried the Airplane - Reset network - turn off modem suggestion but that didn't work.  I checked the IP address and it doesn't start with 169.  Any other suggestions?  I've never had a problem with my Comcast modem, it's fairly new.  My computer, my husbands computer & our iPad are able to connect (the iPad had the same problem at first but it seems to have fixed itself).

Do a check on the issue at the Apple Support Web Site.

  • Problem downloading ios 5 - connection timeout during processing

After waiting 6mins for the ios 5 download, it reaches the last stage 0.01kb before completion with the message 'processing' and then it cancels and I get a message saying 'connection timeout error'. All my other internet services and downloads are working fine. I have installed and reinstalled itunes 10.5.
Is anyone else experiancing this? And what can I do??

Interesting all the issues with upgrading to IOS 5 for the IPhone 4. When I upgraded mine several weeks ago it took 3 attempts then worked. My daughter has had no end of trouble with hers....15 20 times, keeps coming up with errors. Same issues as everyone else. Just tried one fix that was noted.......turn off firewall and bingo all worked. It is a pity issues like this aren't recognised by Apple and resolved.....Anyway one happy IPhone 4 user. Thanks guys

  • No connection to WiFi in France!

Although I live in the U.S., I'm spending my entire summer vacationing at our summer home in France. The house has wireless internet via France Telecom's Wanadoo service. My parents both have PCs and can connect to the internet without problem, but when I go in to my AirPort and click on the network I want to connect to, it says that I need a WEP Password. Neither of my parents are required to put in a password, but apparently I am.
I was able to locate the WEP Password and I put it in, but then a window pops up saying "The selected network uses an Access Control List to restrict access and this computer is not on the list. See the Administrator for access."
I don't know who this "Administrator" is or how to put my computer on the list, is there anyone who can help me?

That is a message put there by your ISP provider in France, not a technical problem with your macbook. You should call the company you get internet service from, and ask them about it. It sounds as though they may register or limit the number of computers on a particular internet connection.

  • TS1398 After updating to ios 6 my iphone 4 would no longer connect to my home wifi. At work we have a free wifi connection that does not require a password. However my wifi at home is password protected. I have the right password. It works on my ipod touc

After updating my iphone 4 with the ios 6 update. My iphone would no longer connect to my home wifi that is password protected. I know that I have the right password entered in. At work we have a free wifi connection that does not require a password and I can connect no problem to it. My ipod touch has no problem connecting to my home wifi. It is a 3rd gen ipod and does not have the ios 6 update on it. Please help!

I'm having the same issues. Started when I upgraded iphone 4S and ipad1 to 5.1.1. Wife's iphone 4g on 4.4.2 has been ok. I've forgot the network on both devices and restored the iphone, none of which changed the issue. I've upgraded to ios 6 on the iphone 4s, problem still persists.
One thing that will help for a time: go to your router and change the wireless control channel. When I first did this I got full connectivity for about 48 hours... and now the problem is back. I'm now changing the wireless control channel every 12 hours, which is a pain but at least keeps me connected. I've tried a few other solutions that are out there and that has been the best one so far.
to do this on a motorola router: type 192.168.0.1 in your address bar.
username: admin and password:motorola if you have not changed the factory defaults.
Click on the word "wireless" and look for the "control channel" field. This may be set to auto or to 1, try changing it to 6 or 11 (preferred) or any other channel.
The control channel can cause static in the wireless system IF there are several networks nearby that are on the default setup.
There is a fair bit of buzz about this issue out there, some other things I've seen:
This is a hardware issue. Go to the store and have your wifi antenna checked, some users reporting that they get free replacement devices.
Check against other wifi networks that require a password (this is next for me). Logon to those networks and surf until your wifi stops. If your wifi connects to the internet but stops responding, then this is a software (or hardware) issue and apple needs to step up. Some are claiming this to be the case.
IF you connect and stay connected/on the internet on another password protected wifi, then the issue is with your router. this is where things get cute.
Comcast may tell you to update your firmware. Motorola may tell you that your cable provider is the only one who can push through firmware updates. Comcast may tell you that you are not in an area that is being updated. It's unclear if they say that to all customers, or just those who have purchased cable modems and aren't renting them from comcast.
Good luck, more to come if I figure out anything else, and please post any solutions you may find.

  • Problem with connecting to free wifi after upgrading to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8

    Hi
I had problems with connecting to free Wifi after upgrading my PC(Notebook) to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8. As I travel a lot within europe, I am used to being able to connect to Free Wifi(those that dont need a key or password to enter) but soon after downloading
Windows 8.1 I almost never was able to do this. I'd always get «LIMITED» even though the signal was strong. This was so fustrating,so much so that I reset my PC to clear it of Windows 8.1 and am now back to Windows 8.This is a shame because I was really liking
using Windows 8.1 and if not for this problem(which is a big one) I'd still be using it. If I download Windows 8.1 again from the Windows store what is the probability that I'll have the same problems?
    Thanks Portozzygirl

More often than not when a device isn't working it is because the driver has become corrupted. Re-installing a fresh copy should help

  • 4S connectivity to WiFi, and touch problems since IOS 8

I have an iPhone 4S. Since I downloaded IOS 8 and updates, I have been experiencing intermittent loss of connectivity to WiFi and a few instances of the screen freezing up on me. I've already had Apple support, where they helped me empty phone and reinstall the software, then subsequently all apps and items back onto phone. It worked for 2 days and then started with the same issues again. I then uninstalled the one app I had installed since iOS 8, hoping that was the problem. It was not.
I was told there is no going back to an older system. I have never had any problems with this phone until the new IOS 8 was added. Is there anyone else who has similar problems?

If you search this forum and the "Using iPhone" forum, you will find hundreds of posts about it.

  • Problem with Airport - will connect to a WEP 40/128bit but not a FREE wifi

Hopefully someone who reads this will be able to help.
I connected my iBook to a wifi connection that required a 40/128bit Hex security connection last week, and have since left that connection (although I'm using it now just to try and fix the problem).
Today I went to a cafe with a free wifi connection available, and although my Airport connected to the connection available, it wouldn't allow me to actually CONNECT to the internet in any way - no email, no safari.
I have a feeling I've tripped a setting somewhere for the last connection that I used and now I can't turn it back - I feel like I'm missing a step somewhere.
    Any ideas??

    Hi.
Moving from one Internet connection to another often leads to problems later. It is not just with WiFi. I have had trouble just switching from wireless to ethernet and back to wireless on the same router.
The usual way to clear up the problem is to delete all your network preferences so that that iBook forgets where it has been. To do this, go to the folder
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/ and delete the files
    com.apple.airport.preferences.plist and NetworkInterfaces.plist. It's safe.
To avoid the problem, set up different locations in your Network Preferences and then always set your location tell your iBook where you are trying to connect from. That way, your iBook will do the right thing for that location; and this will not affect what it does for other locations.

  • Bug: iOS 5 using data in email app when connected to wifi. Has anyone else had this problem?

Since I have received my new iPhone 4s I have constantly been going over my data every month. I only get 200mb. Normally I only used 20-50 tops if I used heavily with out wifi. After trying different application, and resetting the usage meter under settings. I noticed that when connected to wifi it uses data when checking for email, pushing and sending and recieving email. I've reset restored etc. nothing fixes it.

WiFi *should* take precedence in my opinion, however it does not.  This was just confirmed to me by a supervisor at the VWZ call center.  i received a notice that i was going to be charged an overage fee due to going over the data plan i have on the iPad2.  However, this particular iPad has not been out of my house, nor away from my WiFi network all month.  When i called verizon, they confirmed that even though the ipad is connected to my wifi network, as long as 'Cellular Data' toggle is set to on, it will use that network first.
No need for this to be the case, other than for Verizon to be able to make incremental revenue on their data plan!

  • Cannot connect to WiFi in public areas or private or Ad Hoc connections

    I have a 32 GB iPod Touch 2G that is running 4.2.1
All has been going well, until last week. I tried to connect to a public WiFi (that I have connected to 50 times or more) and it said "Cannot connect to Network". I tried everything that I know how to do, but nothing worked. I then went to another public WiFi (with WEP), but could not get on there either. I then went home and tried to connect to my computer through an Ad Hoc WiFi connection (since we do not WiFi at our house), but I was not able to connect there either.
I reset it, I synced it, but the problem persists.
I always have the iPod on Airport mode, so as not to run the battery down. I then take it off Airport mode, turn on WiFi, and wait for the Network to show up on the iPod Touch. I then press the Network that I want. It immediately gives me the check mark next to the Network name, then later it gives me the WiFi symbol at the top left of the screen. I then wait for the Login page...it never comes up. I then go to Safari to force it to come up, but nothing. It says that I am not connected to a Network. I then get fed up with it and try to turn off WiFi, but the Network name stays, even though the WiFi is Off. I then try to turn on the Airport mode, but the airplane does not show up. I try and try to get away from the network, but it will not reset to normal until I press the Home button and the On/Off button together. I then get the circle of dashes (but just a short 1 and 1/2 rotations - ODD), then the black screen. Then I press the On button and get the Apple symbol. Then I sign in and the Airplane is there and the WiFi is off...till I try again. No connections and then I have to repeat this to get it back to half way normal.
Please help me with this situation. I really do not want to restore the iPod Touch, since I do not have a WiFi network near me...and I have a lot of apps that would have to be set-up through WiFi (taking a lot of time). My fear (if you could call it that), is that if I restore the iPod Touch, and find out that the WiFi problem persists...then I will not be able to use a number of Apps that I use a lot.
There has to be a simpler answer to this situation.

+Comment on #2. I'm not aware of any offline apps working with an iPod touch that hasn't been jailbroken. If you have jailbroken your device, we really can't help you here per the terms of service of this website. However, if this just updated data for a legit app or a web app, then it you are going to have to get network access working for it to work and, as you have said, iTunes isn't going to do it.+
Answer to #2: For one thing, the iPod Touch that I have is NOT jailbroken. I have never jailbroken any of my devices. I am a big supporter of Apple products, because they work. If a device is jailbroken, essentially taking Apple's expertise out of the equation. If I wanted to do that, I would use Android, and suffer with the fragmentation that they suffer with (along with all the problems jailbroken devices have). Enough on that.
Offline Wiki is an approved app from the AppStore (it is Wikipedia in your pocket, without the Internet). You download the app from iTunes. It is useless till you then download the content (whichever language that you want - for example the one I want, English is 3 GB of space). Since I am not in a WiFi area, and I do not visit WiFi areas often (nor for any real length of time, downloading 3 GB of information takes hours (nearly three hours, when I first did it). The only reason that I was reluctant to Restore my iPod Touch, was to avoid having to do that process again, and not being able to use the app (which I use a lot) until I do spend the time to download the Wikipedia Database onto my iPod Touch.
+A comment on #1. Those websites that require you to login again - this is a function of the network setup at that site. In effect, they are expiring your lease as soon as you disconnect. When you log in again, you are treated as a completely new user.+
Answer to #1: Yes, I understand that. Thank you.
    Good luck on the restore.
Thank you. This, unfortunately was what I had to do. As expected, but not for sure, the WiFi is now working again. It seems that my iPod Touch got corrupted (within the iOS). The reinstalling wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, except I do not have the use of Offline Wiki (since my visit to the doctor yesterday was only for an hour, which I used to update all the other things that I needed WiFi access for. I started the download process, but it will take at least 2 hours to finish).
Conclusion: The only way to fix this situation, as far as I can tell, is to Restore your iPod Touch. Thank you for reading my long windedness. Also, thank you "luvlabs" for our conversation (though we haven't seen eye-to-eye much in the conversation, but I appreciate the time you spent to try. Thank you.
