Problems with Application Builder and NI-DAQmx drivers in Labview 8.2 Professional

Hello everyone,
I am trying to use the application builder to create an executable so that someone without labview is capable of a remote panel connection to connect to our test laboratory. our test laboratory uses the USB Compact DAQ 9172. I did find some other forums that ran into a similar problem where a computer that didnt have labview installed on it looked for a particular driver (nilvaiu.dll). The common solution appeared to be when building the installer, include the current NI-DAQmx (8.3 in our case) option and then the clients worked fine. My question is when i use the application builder to create an installation file for this application, i get a prompt to:
Locate the "National Instruments Device Drivers - February 2006 Disk 1" distribution. LabVIEW needs to copy a component installed or updated by the distribution to continue building the installer.
What is confusing is that the installation cd's in our laboratory are from August 2006 (501165N-03). It didnt make sense to me that i would need to downgrade the drivers from a few months ago, but i've been wrong before. We just upgraded from the full development to the professional version about 2 weeks ago to utilize the application builder function. Has anyone else ran into this problem and could this be a limitation because we purchased the software with the academic discount?

My "fix" is brute force. Backup everything. Removing all the NI software takes a while. Be sure to remove leftover directories and files.
Altering the windows registry takes seconds and is not hard if you know what you are looking for. I've attached a screen shot with the NI entry selected. This is what I deleted on by machine. The thing to remember is that the registry controls all the software on your pc. Delete/alter the wrong entry and you have problems. Worst case scenario is that you could end up formating the hard drive and starting over from scratch. I'm not trying to scare you, but I want to make sure you understand the potential for harm.
One thing you might try first. NI-DAQmx 8.5 is now available for download from NI. You might try unloading 8.3 and installing 8.5.

Analyzing the problem, I created a new ADF application with only a web page (index.jspx) , and deploy it to the WLS, and I access to URL of page and it runs !! ( http:localhost:7001/myApp/faces/index.jspx ).
But, when I ADD A TASK FLOW to the application and deploy to the WLS newly , and try to access to the URL application's ( http:localhost:7001/myApp/faces/index.jspx ) . It show me again :

Problem with "Application Builder"

Hello!
I have problem when I am using application builder to convert my program to exe files. MY PROGRAM: I use a main program to copy a template VI in to other VI´s, and then I can execute the copied VI´s from main. When I have tried to convert my program to a EXE file, everything works but not executing the copied VI. The following error messages apperies when I try to execute the copied VI. What does this mean???

Information for users on this discussion forum: the problem was due to 'Build Text' function and when that function was removed the program worked fine. The functionality in the 'Build Text' function could easily be replaced by the 'Format Into String' function.

Problem with Vision Builder and LabView: Error -1074395995, File not found

I have created an inspection with Vision Builder AI 2009 SP1. In it I load some pictures from the HDD and run some checks over it. It works fine. Then I have migrated it to LabView 2010, I get a message that the migration is successfull, but when I run the VI on LabView I get a fail status. I have been checking my program and I have found and error when I try to load the picture from file: Error -1074395995 occurred at IMAQ ReadImageAndVisionInfo
Possible reason(s): IMAQ Vision: File not found.
But I am not sure which file it refers to. At first I thought it was the picture I wanted to load, but I have checked the path and it is correct, so maybe it refers to another thing. What puzzles me most is that it works perfectly on Vision Builder and I have changed nothing in LabView, maybe it is a problem with the migration. Any clues?

Here's a screenshot of what I'm talking about. Put a break point here and see what the path is and compare that with what Vision Builder AI is using (described where to find this in the previous post). You could find where this global is used to make debugging easier.

Having a problem with Flash Builder and Extension Builder - images not apearing on Mac system

Have a panel created in Flash Builder 4.5 with Extension Builder 2.1. Everything is fine when installed on a PC but when installed on a Mac the images in the panel do not show.
Mac and PC both using Adobe Photoshop CC . Both installed from same .ZXP file using Adobe Extension Manager CC.
Any ideas?

No I used relative path - the path is images/image name

Hi, I've run into what may be a bug, so I wanted to run it by your group.
I have a class that is using application identity and contains a
collection of strings. When I load each instance of the class, the
collection is filled in, however, when I load all the instances using
getExtent(), the collections are not filled in.

Problem with window repaint and scrollbars in edit mode (LabVIEW 8.0.1)

I am running LabVIEW 8.0.1 in Windows XP SP3. For my main VI, I ran into a strange problem about 5 months ago. The front panel window - in both edit mode and run mode - stopped repainting itself on the right side which is most visible when you scroll up and down, but also visible with overlapping windows. Coincident with the repaint problem, both scrollbars look disabled with greyed-out arrows and no boxes in the bars that you can click and drag to scroll the window. The scrollbars still partially work if you hover the mouse over them and roll the mouse wheel but clicking and dragging doesn't work.
The front panel has lots of controls and indicators including tab-control containers and is larger in the horizontal and vertical directions so both scrollbars should be active. But I deleted all elements on the front panel and everything in the block diagram and the problem persists. So the problem is not directly related to some control/indicator display.
I saved the simple VI with this problem (using a wide text line and a tall rounded box to test), then created a new VI and copied the two elements to the new VI. This new VI does not have the repaint and scrollbar problem. The two VIs differ slightly in memory usage and in revision number (the bad one is revision 1785 and the good one is revision 3), but otherwise the two VIs are identical. I attached both VIs to this posting. When you first open the bad VI, you'll see the disabled scrollbars whereas the good VI has active scrollbars. To replicate the repaint problem, scroll the window up and down with your mouse wheel. If it's fine when you first open the VI, click on another window, then click back on the VI window and try the mouse wheel again. This clicking-away-and-back always causes the repaint problem for me. I tried the VIs on two different computers both running Windows XP SP3 and LabVIEW 8.0.1 with identical results.
Here's what I discovered from troubleshooting with the simple VIs:
* scrollbars always disabled
* repaint problem in main window for window widths larger then 680 pixels
* repaint problem in main window menu toolbar for widths larger than 646 pixels
* entire window becomes disabled for window widths larger than 1348 pixels
* can repaint window by minimizing and restoring, but only repaints that one time
* scrollbar boxes sometimes flicker into view but then disappear
* scroll left and right by hovering mouse over horizontal scrollbar and using mouse wheel
I found something similar on this forum (thread: Problem with front panel refresh) - it might be related to the CAR about the panel being offset internally. I don't have access to LabVIEW 8.5 or later and don't plan to upgrade - I haven't tried the trial version as that user did. I could try to copy and paste my entire block diagram to a new VI but the VI is so large I'm afraid something would break, plus I don't want this to happen again in a few months. The problem seemed to occur after a certain number of saves (or revision number). I save backup copies often and when the problem first happened, I was able to go back to a previous version, make the missing changes and save it with no problems, but this only delayed the problem and it came up later. So maybe it's the revision number. It didn't seem related to a particular addition or modification in the front panel or diagram.
The image attached shows the repaint and scrollbar problems in the bad VI.
This brings up a question I have - if this problem is a bug and was fixed in 8.5 and later, is there a way to apply bug fixes to earlier versions? Or do I have to pay for an upgrade to fix such bugs?

Seems something got corrupted with this VI. Copy things over to a fresh VI and things should be OK.

Problem with application item and session state

Okay, let's see if I can explain this problem coherently.
I have a small app (one page), with an application item, F_WHERE_CLAUSE.
This page has three regions in which there are items that the users can populate for search conditions. A couple of these items are "select list with submit" (I still need to upgrade to the AJAX method, I know). There is another region which has one hidden field, called P1_WHERE_CLAUSE. This field is defined to "Always, replacing any value in session state..." with source type of "Item (application or page.....", and a source value of F_WHERE_CLAUSE with no default value.
I have a button called "Search" which submits the page and fires a PL/SQL process which builds a where condition based upon the other page items and stores the value to the application item F_WHERE_CLAUSE (correctly).
For testing, I've made the P1_WHERE_CLAUSE field visible so that I can see what's going on. I've also clicked the debug and session buttons to help trace this. After I click the "Search" button and the page submits, debug shows:
0.02: ...Session State: Save "P1_WHERE_CLAUSE" - saving same value: "1=1"
followed later by:
0.05: ...Session State: Saved Item "F_WHERE_CLAUSE" New Value="lower(primary_class) = 'rock' and country = 'Spain'"
The field P1_WHERE_CLAUSE displays with the correct search criteria as signified by F_WHERE_CLAUSE above. However, If I click the "session" button to view the session state values, P1_WHERE_CLAUSE shows up as:
P1_WHERE_CLAUSE Textarea 1=1 U while F_WHERE_CLAUSE displays the correct value still.
The reason this "problem" came up, is that this page also has three SQL report regions which use &P1_WHERE_CLAUSE. for the where condition. While they display the correct results on-screen, each report region also has the "Export to csv" enabled, and the export seems to be using the "1=1" condition (from the "session" window) instead of the search criteria that the on-screen region is using (F_WHERE_CLAUSE and the displayed P1_WHERE_CLAUSE), resulting in a retreival of all records.
Anybody have any idea what's going on and why, and how to get the csv export to use the correct value for the where condition?

It appears the "Export to CSV" functionality requires the item value to be set in session state. The P1_WHERE_CLAUSE item value never gets saved to session state. The page is rendered and the value is put in the item on the page but until you submit the page session state doesn't know what P1_WHERE_CLAUSE is.
Create a before header computation or process to set the value of P1_WHERE_CLAUSE (which will save it to session state). It is interesting that the report regions didn't need to look at the value in session state but the "export to csv" does.

Problem with application modules and switching from 2 tier to 3 tier mode

I've got an application in 2 tier mode. Now I wanted to switch to 3 tier mode but get a class cast exception. It has turned out, that panelBinding.getApplication().getApplicationModule().findApplicationModule returns in 2 tier mode <ModuleName>Impl and in 3 tier mode oracle.jbo.client.remote.ApplicationModuleImpl. But searching for modul name with panelBinding.getApplication().getApplicationModule().getApplicationModuleNames() returns the right in names in 2 tier and in 3 tier mode. Does anybody know a way to access <ModulName>Impl in 3 tier mode?

This is the reason that the BC4J project will create an <appmodulename>AM interface and a <appmodulename>AMClient Implementation that you include on the client side if you expose any methods in your app module. You should access them by casting it to the interface, NOT the appModuleImpl class. If you stick to using the interface, then you should be fine.
So to keep your implementation flexible, you should do this on the client to access your custom methods on your app module:
The BC4J project should generate the following classes:
AppModule Name = MyCustomAM.xml
AppModule Implementation = MyCustomAMImpl.java
Custom AppModule Interface = /common/MyCustomAM.java
Custom clientside AppModule Implementation = /client/MyCustomAMClient.java
On the client, do the following:
import my.bc4j.model.package.common.MyCustomAM;

Problem with Action Builder and Numeric Field

Here's my scenario:
I have a form with a numeric field for the PO Amount and a text field for the Role. I tried to create an action builder to do the following:
Condition - When numeric field PO Amount is less than 250,000
Result - Set Value of Role to be Manager
When I enter an amount less than 250,000, nothing appears in the Role text field.
Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

this is not so difficult.
You have to use the script editor (about windows)
Then you have to mark your numeric field.
Then you have to select "EXIT" and "JAVASCRIPT".
Then you have to copy the following script:
(I come from germany and I don't know which amount you mean because in german is this switched 1,000.00 $ is in german 1.000,00 $) This is the only thing which you adapt maybe.

Problems with application builder

Hi,
I have a little problem to distribute my application.
When you install the program, a direct link to the program appears in Start
Button, but not the link with the "uninstall" program. To uninstall the
program is neccesary to go to Start->Settings->Control Panel->Add/Remove
programs, but this is a little inconvenient for a not-advanced user.

This is where I would expect to see uninstall. All of MS Office, LabVIEW,
CVI, Acrobat, AutoCad, Visio, Internet Explorer, Visual Basic, etc., etc.,
are all uninstalled from the Add/Remove Programs. I think having uninstall
as a shortcut from the Start menu is a little dangerous as it's too easy
to select.

If you have followed the standard Apple troubleshooting processes (see user guide )
probably a trip to the local Apple Store Genius bar is called for before warranty runs out
Assuming the iPad has been released in your Country if not you may have to take it to a
neighbouring Country where it is available

Are you using the latest version of Silverkeeper? - v.2.0.2 is stated to be compatible with Snow Leopard.

Did you change any AppleID accounts or anything? I've seen this happen when changing accounts or certain restore situations.
If you are using iCloud you should be able to reset your phone to Factory Defaults and restore from iCloud, but it always makes me nervous.
