Problems with dynasight queries (Essbase goes fast)

Hi, we use dynasight tool to retrieve the data. The time of queries shown in app. window are fast, but we think dynaserver has problems, maybe in sharing the cache memory although this is up to 2 GB and essbase doesn't take more than 600 MbThanks a lot

Hello,in principle, the performance of dynaSight should be more or less identical to the performance you get from an equivalent query from within the Excel Add-In for example. Therefore, the performance problem is very likely due to the specific design of the dynaSight documents/screens.Please check the following:- hierarchy objects configuration:is 'request other levels when expanded' used for the vertical and horizontal hierarchy objects? Depending on the use and type of query this feature may speed up performance significantly.- are you using individual selections?If yes: are you using more than 99 members in an individual member selection (this is the limit on the Essbase Side: if you exceed that limit, dynaSight will query the complete hierarchy and filter out the selected members)- optimize the screens by for example consolidating multiple queries / database calls into one query / database call.=> these are just a few suggestions to look into. Do you mean after a phone update? Do you mean just at home? Does it happen everywhere? Do you have wifi turned on? If its on and your not connecting just clear out the connections (forget) then reset up the connections and see if that helps. Did you get a Jelly Bean update? Many people have had wifi connections issues because your router is either outdated and not supported with the new os, or it needs a firmware update. Post back with more information.

Problem with PointBase v4.2, goes away in v4.3

I've been using PointBase as the database backend for CMP in app server 7, and there's a problem with PointBase. I can't create an auto-increment (identity) field in one table, then in the same table have a foreign key reference to another table which has it's primary key also as an identity field.
This problem goes away in PointBase v4.3. I think this is a major problem as this is very common when developing (prototyping whatever) database apps using identity fields to uniquely ID the table.
My suggestion is that we bundle an evaluation of 4.3, instead of 4.2. No changes would need to be made to any documentation, and the jar file uses the same package names as that of v4.2.
Just my thoughts, I think that we can add value at very minimal cost.

Thanks for the heads up.
App Server 7 will be shipping with PointBase Server 4.2 because it has gone through quite a bit of certification with the specific version of the product. Of course, as you noticed, there might be issues with some features in 4.2 that are not tested in our test suite. However, we cannot simply swap out 4.2 for 4.3 and ship the App Server 7 product without further planning and performing another round of certification tests. Bundling of 4.3 or greater will have to wait for the follow on release of the application server. (Same could be said of Ant 1.5.x, J2SDK 1.4.1, etc. All components which need to be certified with the app server product).

All applications that connect on internet have problems(for example: whatsapp, blackberry app world, facebook..), when i restart my device they work 2 days and then again they don't work. I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
1) Register HRT

2) Resend Service Books
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
3) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should talk to your mobile service provider for more detailed and formal support.

Problems with SB X-fi Audio, fast help requi

Hey!
i've got an BIG problem with my Soundblaster X-Fi Audio.
I can hear any sound that is played on the computer, so there is no problem there, i have installed it correctly and deactivated my on-board soundcard.
But sometimes, either when i'm producing music, or mixing music in diffenrent programs, the sound just "hangs up" and everytime i'm trying to play something after it freezes, even on itunes, the music wont even start. Its not even beginning to play, the marker in the field
that shows how far in the track "you are" is not moving.
This is very annoying, and i have to reboot my computer to solve the thing everytime.
I dont have any other problems with the soundcard, the drivers is updated and so on.

Problems with Dynasight - long retrieve times

Problem with Join Queries using PHP and an Orcale Database

Ok, I am trying to build a simple php querying tool for my oracle database and for the most part it is working however I am having a problem getting data from my join queries. If I run the following query :
QUERY:
SELECT lastfirst,EnteredBy,Debit FROM students sts JOIN GLDetail gl ON gl.studentid=sts.id
RESULT SET:
Lastfirst     EnteredBy     Debit
caiu, test      204     1
But when I run the query correctly I get no results
QUERY:
SELECT sts.lastfirst,gl.EnteredBy,gl.Debit FROM students sts JOIN GLDetail gl ON gl.studentid=sts.id
RESULT SET:
sts.lastfirst     gl.EnteredBy     gl.Debit
and if I run the query combining the two above methods and adding a field (schoolid) that has the same name on both table I get the following result sets

Therefore, I have to have something written incorrectly in my php code and I just can not figure it out. My entire code is pasted below please provide me with an assistance you might have to offer. I have change the odbc_connec line so I could post it to this forum. In addition, I had to phrase out the column headers there for when you write the column headers you have to use ~ instead of , as the separator and then I turn back into the correct format for sql.

This looks more like a SQL question than a PHP issue. There are a couple of JOIN examples at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28286/statements_10002.htm#i2066611 that might you work through the problem.

Problem with Business rule-Essbase Error(1042017):

I am getting the following error when i run this business rule specifically.
Detail:Cannot calculate. Essbase Error(1042017): Network error: The client or server timed out waiting to receive data using TCP/IP. Check network connections. Increase the NetRetryCount and/or NetDelay values in the ESSBASE.CFG file. Update this file on both client and server. Restart the client and try again.
I dont get this error with any other rule. I have checked the solution provided in this link

The rule i run is
"Depreciation Value" = "Cumulative.Asset value"/ ("Assumptions_Programs"->Jul->@UDA(Entity,@NAME(@CURRMBR(Location)))->@UDA(Location,@NAME(@CURRMBR(Location)))->"Assets life in months");
The functions in the above rule will get replaced as below
"Depreciation Value" = "Cumulative.Asset value"/ "Assumptions_Programs"->Jul->IND_Assumptions->LOC_IND->"Assets life in months";
If i hardcode and run, i dont get this error. Please help.

The reason it works when you hard code it and why it doesn't when use UDA is simply that you should never have a multiple answers in a cross dimensional. @UDA function returns multiple answers. Even if for your case it only brings back one I believe it is tripping up the calculation. Worse if you are actually bring back multiple answers for @UDA that is definitely not going to work.
I would have to understand all your fixes above the calcultion to recommend you the best possible solution. But at least you understand why you are getting the error and what you have to fix

Problem with some queries after migration from MS Access

We've just finished a migration from a MS Access database and we notice some errors when running some queries like :
Query1:
SELECT A.field1, A.field2, B.field1 as FieldTmp
FROM A,B
where (B.field1 <=10);
Query2:
SELECT Query1.field1, Query1.field2, Query1.FieldTmp
FROM Query1 LEFT JOIN Table3
ON (Table3.field1 = Query1.Field2) AND
(Table3.field5 = Query1.FieldTmp)
WHERE ((Table3.field5) Is Null)
ORDER BY Query1.field1, Query1.FieldTmp;
The Query1 runs as expected, but when I try to run the Query2 I got a ORA-00904 error message. If I remove the (Table3.field5 = Query1.FieldTmp) statement or modify to compare with another field (as instance, field2) everything goes fine.
If I modify the first query to a make-table query, the Query2 request runs as desired too.
Is there anything that we can do to keep the queries statement as it is when using the MS Access DB?

Those SQL Statements were extracted from the MS Access application that we will continue to use to access the data , now on an Oracle Database.
I don't know what I can do to make this kind of statements works as it is on Access database. The first query, that I called Query1 works fine on Oracle, I just mentioned it because the 2nd Query , named Query2, use it.
I'm not able to understand why when I change the 1st. query to a "make-table" query the Query2 works as desired, but if I keep the Query1 and Query2 as it is on the MS Access Application I got the ODBC error message and the ORA-00904 error message , related (I think!) to the FieldTmp field used on the LEFT JOIN statement (AND).
As I told before, if I change the AND clause to compare to another field, as instance, field1 :
FROM Query1 LEFT JOIN Table3
ON (Table3.field1=Query1.Field2) AND
(Table3.field5 = Query1.Field1)
it works.
Please, is there anything that I can do to keep the MS Access Application unchanged?

Performance problem with slow VIEW from JDBC (fast from SQL Developer)

I'm experiencing following problem and would like to know if someone else also hit this one before and has a suggestion how to solve it:
I have a pretty complicated SELECT statement that per definition returns only a few rows (~30). With no further optimization it takes ~20 seconds to return the full dataset in Oracle SQL Developer. If you add the */+ PUSH_PRED(name_of_some_inner_view) /* hint (hint is correct, stars got eaten by the OTN-forum syntax), the statement takes less than 0.5s to execute (still in SQL Developer). I saved the statement with the hint as VIEW. Selecting from the VIEW in SQL Developer is also fast.
Now if I call the statement from JDBC (Tomcat webapp), I can see from the server console that the statement is 1:1 100% the same as the one I execute in SQL Developer. Nevertheless it takes about 20 seconds to complete.

SQL Developer: current version 3.2.20.09From my reading this could go wrong:
- JDBC doesn't know the VIEW's column data types and Oracle behaves mysterious because of this (=there must be more to the SELECT than just the string, some meta-information)
- For some reason the hint inside the VIEW is not used (unlikely)
I also tried a Table Function/Pipelined table and selected from it as a workaround, but the result is the same: Selecting from Function is fast from SQL Developer, but slow from JDBC. All other statements that come from JDBC are as fast as they should be. I really don't know what to think of this and where the error might be.
Is there some setting that tells Oracle not to use hints when called from JDBC?

that's what I'm thinking. Unfortunately I can't post it, as it is library code (not my lib). But in the debug-output I can see the SQL-String sent to the DB (which does include the hint).
But I find the 2nd option you mention more likely anyway: Even if I put the hint into a VIEW and select from the view, the time-difference is there (it's even there if I use Table Functions/Pipelined table and select from the function).
So I'd think it is more likely that something else is happening (e.g. Oracle is configured in a way that it does not use hints when called from JDBC or similar. Or the library sets some session options in order to prevent the usage of hints). But I don't know if there is even the possibility of doing so.
Does the Oracle JDBC driver have the option to set these options?
Does the Oracle DB have the option to set sth. like "ALTER SESSION SET dontUseHints = 'Y';"

Problems with BCS Queries Inconsistent Data

Hi BI Experts,
We recently had our BCS upgrade from 4.0 to 6.0 and BW upgrade from 3.5 to 7.0
We have created some consolidated queries and we didnt change them to 7.0 they are still in 3.5 version. The problem is that we are getting some inconsistent data every time we ran those queries.
The BWP is yet to under go upgrade process so we checked the data in BWP (3.5) production and BWD (7.0) this tells us that the data in the tables are right.
I ran the query in RSRT and gives inconsistent data.
We are on the support pack 10 for BCS and
support pack 14 for BI 7.0.

I want to correct one statement up there ...when I run my queries with through RSRT i dont get any inconsistent data ..the data comes exactly the way we want ...the problem is only through the BEx.
Is it a upgrade bug or the support pack issue ..???

Problem with sub queries

I have 3 tables like,
LIST (ID NUMBER, NAME)
LIST_VERSION (ID NUMBER, VER NUMBER, STATE_CODE number)
STATE_CODES (CODE NUMBER, DESC VARCHAR2)
LIST to LIST_VERSION is one to many relation. I have a query like this,
SELECT LV.* from LIST_VERSION WHERE
LV.VER = (SELECT MAX(LV1.VER) FROM LIST_VERSION LV1 WHERE
LV1.ID = LV.ID)
OR LV.VER = (SELECT MAX(LV2.VER) FROM LIST_VERSION LV2 WHERE
LV2.ID = LV.ID and LV2.STATE_CODE=1)
LIST to LIST_VERSION and LIST_VERSION to STATE_CODES table is defined
in toplink mapping. To translate this into expression I have tried several possible combinations with out any luck. I was able to get the individual queries (the ones in OR) work, but not together. Here is what I did for individual queries

Each of the above expressions work fine independenty. However if I try to do some thing like,
exp1.or(exp2) I get very strange SQL generated and get SQL exceptions in code. The SQL it generates is
SELECT t0.ID, t0.VER, t0.STATE_CODE FROM LIST_VERSION t0 WHERE ((t0.VER = (SELECT MAX(t1.VER) FROM LIST t3, LIST t2, LIST_VERSION t1 WHERE ((t2.ID = t3.ID) AND ((t3.ID = t0.ID) AND (t2.ID = t1.ID))))) OR (t0.VER = (SELECT MAX(t4.VER) FROM LIST t5, LIST_VERSION t4, STATE_CODES t6 WHERE (((t5.ID = t3.ID) AND (t6.STATE_CODE = ?)) AND ((t6.STATE_CODE = t4.CODE) AND (t5.ID = t4.ID))))))
The problem occurs because the t3.ID in the second sub query is not correct. it should be t0.ID, but I can't figureout why this is happening. Any help or suggessions to achieve my objective?

Looking at your query that works at the bottom, I do not see any reason that you would need to include the Assignment table in the From list. Just use the same where clause in the form:
Where project.resources_maximum
    > (Select Count(assignment.employee_ID)

I'm using firefox 3.6.12 and having problem with copy and pasting.Going on for about 2 weeks. Thanks.

When trying to copy and paste, i have a hard time with at least 9 attempts before it takes effect. Thais has been going on for about 2 weeks now. Everything seems to happen as it's suppose to until you go and try to paste.

Update; As of now, i am able to copy and paste. Steps i have taken to correct issues i had before.
- I installed browser again, but issue came up again.
-I uninstalled Google Chrome browser, it recently showed up in my task manger when i was not using the browser. AnVir Task Manger showed it being in use, so i stopped the processor and uninstalled Google Chrome.

First query is giving 82000 entries and second query is giving approx 60000 from the table VFKN( total entries in this table are 8 lakhs).
Here the problem is second select query(for all entries select query) is taking a time of 3 to 4 hours.
So please suggest me how can i reduce the time.

Use FREE or PACKAGE size.
Some steps that might make FOR ALL ENTRIES more efficient:
Removing duplicates from the driver table Sorting the driver table
If possible, convert the data in the driver table to ranges so a BETWEEN statement is used instead of and OR statement:
FOR ALL ENTRIES IN i_tab
                  WHERE mykey >= i_tab-low and
             mykey <= i_tab-high.
