Problems with value-based hierarchies in Oracle 11gR2
Hello,
I have the following problem:
I want to cereate a dimension with 2 hierarchies.
These hierarchies have to be value-based.
It's no problem to fill and display one of them, but when I fill both and try to display them, at the lowest level, the parent-child relevancy is now incorrect.
Let's display this in OLAP Worksheet for Cube Type OLAP 11g :

What is being announced?
We are pleased announce the October 19, 2010 release of Oracle Database 11g Release 2 Patchset 1 (11.2.0.2) on HP-UX > Itanium and IBM AIX on POWER Systems.Patchset 10098816
Description 11.2.0.2.0 PATCH SET FOR ORACLE DATABASE SERVER
Product Oracle Database Family
I have looked, but I cannot find a formal bug for this problem. My hunch is that it was fixed as a side effect of other changes, and I know there were several in this area. My simple test case did work in 11.2.0.2, so I hope it is all fixed. But feel free to enter an SR if you want. (If you mention my name in the SR then support should contact me.) You should certainly do this if moving on to 11.2.0.2 does not resolve the issue.

Pricing problem with value based free goods!
Hi All,
I've got a pricing problem.....
Can anyone can come out with a solution.
Here is the Business Scenario....
In a super market pricing...should be implemented in such a way that....if the customer purchases any material(all materials) for $1000 he should be given a materisl XXX one unit free (free goods)
How to implement this in SD R/3 Scenario...
i have tried out with Free goods...n pricing...but was not able to implement it..can any one of you suggest me a solution for this plz..
Regards,
Pavan.Hi Pavan,
I would suggest that you post this message in the mySAP ERP business suite solution application forum. Here is the navigation info:
Welcome to the SAP Forums » SAP Solutions » Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) . It is more likely that someone from the SD slide will be reading that forum than this "SAP NetWeaver integration with my SAP ERP" forum.
I hope this helps,

OLAP on 11g and Materialised Views with Multiple Value-Based Hierarchies
Hello OLAPians
I am trying to setup Orable BIEE to report on an OLAP cube with pre-aggregated data. As OBIEE is not able to hook into the OLAP directly i have to create an SQL cubeview.
Currently i am on a 10g OLAP environment and am using the oracle sample SQL cubeview generator to create an SQLview of my cube.
The cube itself has multiple dimensions and these dimensions have multiple VALUE-based (ragged) hierarchies and dimension members can be shared across hierarchies also.
Initially i had a problem running the view generator plugin because there is a bug within it that does not finish if there are multiple value-based hierarchies present. I was able to get around this by manually editing the limitmap for the cubeview and manually creating the SQL view.
The question that i want to ask is how robust is the 11g materialised views with multiple value-based hierarchies and the sharing of dimension members across different hierarchies?
Has anyone successfully been able to create a cubeview and import it into OBIEE without the hassle of manually editing the limitmap?
A problem arises with the value-based setup whereby if the client creates a newer depth in the ragged hierarchy, i need to manually create the limitmap and the cube-view over again, and then re-map the BI Administration mappings.The simple answer to your question,
how robust is the 11g materialised views with multiple value-based hierarchies...?is that materialized views are not supported on top of value-based hierarchies in 11g. The reason is that it is not possible to write a reasonable SQL statement that aggregates a fact over a value-based hierarchy. Such a SQL statement is necessary if we want to create a rewritable MV on top of the cube.
But I suspect this is not what you are really asking. If you are trying to set up OBIEE on top of the cube in 10g using the view generator, then you will probably want to use the "ET VIEWS" that are generated automatically in 11g. These are generated whether or not you enable materialized views on top of your cube. I am not aware of any issues with the generated value-based hierarchy view support in 11g. Members may be shared between value hierarchies and you will not need to generate or modify limit maps. -
OBIEE and Oracle OLAP Value Based Hierarchies
Hi there...
I have a value based dimension built on Oracle OLAP and want to map it on OBIEE Administration tool.
I've been using the above link as reference:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/olap_biee/CreateBIEEMetadata.htm
There's no option to import from Oracle Multi-dimensional Database. Either to import/configure the view created by OLAP as an Unballanced or Ragged Dimension.
I also checked this example, but it uses ESSBASE as the multi-dimensional source....
http://www.rittmanmead.com/2008/08/27/ragged-hierarchy-handling-in-obiee/
How to map this Ragged Dimension created in OLAP workspace in OBIEE? Any suggestions or directions will be highly appreciated...
Thanks in advance
MarcosMark and others,
You can create OLAP_TABLE views with level columns on top of value-based hierarchies. BI Beans used to do that too behind the scenes in Discoverer Plus OLAP. If you trace the Discoverer session, where you are querying data from Value-based hierarchies, you will see that it also generates OLAP_TABLE views with level columns in it.
So the question is how to do it. Internally, even for Value-based hierarchies Oracle OLAP keeps track of the "depth" of each value by using a structure called GID_DIMENSION (i.e., Grouping Dimension). Here is an example of a view on top of a value-based hierarchy (CFC_ACCT_GAPP) for RPT_ACCOUNT dimension. You have to know how "deep" your value-based hierarchy is.
Similar kind of a thing is done by OLAP View Generator application, which I never use - since I always prefer to define my own OLAP_TABLE views.
This kind of a view can then be used in the RPD of OBIEE.

Problems with date in procedure on Oracle 11g
Hi gurus,
I have some problems with the date format on Oracle 11g.
Let me explain the situation:
When I am starting a request like
select to_number(to_char(to_date('01.04.2009','dd.mm.yyyy'), 'yyyy'))
from sys.dual
I got as result 2009 as number.
When I do the same in a procedure of a package like this
my_year := to_number(to_char(to_date('01.04.2009','dd.mm.yyyy'), 'yyyy'));
the variable my_year contains the value 9 instead of 2009.
Can someone explain me what's going wrong?
I have just tested with changing the environment variable nls_date_format for the session and for the complete database with no success.
Regards,
BjörnThank you all for your replies so far:
@Alex: You are right, using your short script in sqlplus gives me also 2009 as result
So, I am now posting the essential excerpts of the procedure because the whole one is to large:
function insert_szrl (my_fremd_name varchar, my_elementadresse varchar,
my_zeitstempel varchar, my_wert float,
my_status varchar, my_zyklus varchar,
my_offset integer,
my_quelle varchar, my_nzm_daten integer) return integer is
begin
my_date := to_date (substr (my_zeitstempel, 1, 10), 'dd.mm.yyyy') + my_tageswechsel +1/24;
if my_zyklus = 'mm' then
my_zeitstempeldate := add_months(to_date(last_day(to_date(my_date, 'dd.mm.yyyy')), 'dd.mm.yyyy'),-1) +1 + (my_tageswechsel+1/24);
my_days := to_date(last_day(to_date(my_date, 'dd.mm.yyyy')), 'dd.mm.yyyy') - add_months(to_date(last_day(to_date(my_date, 'dd.mm.yyyy')), 'dd.mm.yyyy'),-1);
my_year := to_number(to_char(to_date(my_date,'dd.mm.yyyy'), 'yyyy'));
ptime.umschalttage_tuned (my_year, my_ws, my_sw);
end if;
While debugging the complete procedure I see since the start only a date which looks like '01.04.2009 07:00:00'

Value based hierarchies and Period dimension should only contain 2 monthl
Hi,
Can anyone tell me what is value based hierarchies. And also can anyone let me know to filter the records in AWm because in Period dimension should only contain 2 monthly values (Oct. 2008 ( 200810) and Sep. 2008 ( 200809)) it is urgent.
Thanks
velThe following definition of a value hierarchy comes from the OLAP Developers guide
"A hierarchy defined only by the parent-child relationships among dimension members. The dimension members at a particular distance from the base level do not form a meaningful group for analysis, so the levels are not named. For example, an employee dimension might have a parent-child relation that identifies each employee's supervisor. However, levels that group together first-, second-, and third-level supervisors and so forth may not be meaningful for analysis."
Typically this means that the source table has two columns, VALUE and PARENT, where PARENT has a (logical) foreign key relationship to VALUE. An example may be EMPLOYEE, MANAGER, where MANAGERs are also EMPLOYEEs.
The simplest way to restrict the values loaded into the AW is to define a SQL view over the source table with an appropriate WHERE condition. You then use AWM to map the dimension to your new view. E.g.
CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW RESTRICTED_TIME AS
SELECT *
FROM TIME
WHERE MONTH IN (200810, 200809) -
Problem with File Based replication in Weblogic Express 10
Hi,
We have Web application (exploded war) file deployed on Weblogic Express 10, to a Cluster of three Managed Servers (all three on different physical machines).
We are using File based session persistance in weblogic.xml
We have a shared location for all the three servers where we will be sharing the Session data.
When we start the application, its works fine and is very fast, but after sometime the application slows down.
Troubleshooting the Issue we found that its a problem with file based replication. By using File based replication every user session is stored in form of directory inside shared directory. So after sometime thousands of directories are created inside the shared directory where the session information is stored. So when we access the application, its waiting for lot of time with Message Session Monitor .... (this is because its browsing through the shared session storage directory for lot of time for session information as it has lot of directories) and finally after a long time like 10 mins we get the Application Home Page.
When we clean up all the saved sessions inside shared directory, the application works fine, But we will see the same sometime later may be after 3 or 4 hours when the shared session directory has lot of session information stored in it.
Is there a way to clean up the saved session information on file system as soon as that user session is closed by using file based replication.
We cannot used Inmemory replication as our Appl doesnt support it.
Please advice as it is a major show stopper in our Production Mirror env.
Weblogic ConsultantIt is possible to reduce number of live session by configuring very low timeout-secs weblogic.xml. Default is 60 minutes.
More details are here..

Problem with replication based on materialized view
Problem with replication based on materialized view...
Given:
1. Source: S-1
2. Targets: T-1, T-2
3. DB links: from T-1 to S-1, from T-2 to S-1
Required replicate table TBL on S-1 to T-1, T-2 via db links.
On S-1 was created materialized view log with PK on TBL. On T-1, T-2 were created mat.views as "on prebuilt table refresh fast on demand". In case of get "ORA-12034: materialized view log younger than last refresh" or initial load - perform complete refresh. Initial load on T-1 takes about 1 hour, on T-2 - about 12 hours. Refresh is executed via job with minutely interval. If refresh is running then it is not performed.
Problem: after initial load on T-1 performs fast refresh, but on T-2 raised ORA-12034 and complete performs again.
What's wrong?34MCA2K2, Google lover?
I confess perhaps I gave a little info.
View log was created before MV.
It was the first initial load.
No refresh failed.
No DDL.
No purge log.
Not warehouse.
There is no such behavior for MVs on another sites.
P.S. I ask help someone who knows what's wrong or who faced with it or can me follow by usefull link.
P.P.S. It's a pity that there is no button "Useless answer" -
Multiple Value Based hierarchies per MOLAP dimension
Hi,
a) Is it possible to have multiple value based heirarchies in a single MOLAP dimension in OWB and deployed to analytical workspace ?
Are there any pitfalls, that we need to be aware of...
b) Can we have a mix of Value and level based heirarchies per dimension ?
Thanks in advance,
ChakriHi Chakri
Yes, you can have multiple value based hierarchies and also a mix of value/level based.
Cheers

Value based hierarchies, Skip Level Hierarchies
Hello,
I need to create hierarchy based on column value , Please give me some details on implementing value based hierarchies and skip level hierarchies in obiee 10.1.3.
Thank youWith 10.3 i do not think we have a inbuilt solution to build value based hierarchies, you have to flatten the hierarchy and build a level based hierarchy.
OBIEE 11g has value based hierarchies feature.
refer this one for 11g.

I have a problem with JDBC Realm in Tomcat/Oracle/Win XP
I have a problem with JDBC Realm in Tomcat.
I have attached my server.xml file located in the
C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 5.5\conf\server.xml
The Problem is that when I login I get the user name and password prompt but it does not resolve.
When I enter in the tomcat-users.xml password with memory realm uncommented it works fine.
C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 5.5\conf\tomcat-users.xml
Is there a cache or something I need to reset for the JDBC Realm to work?
I have attached my tables and contents as well...
Did I miss something????

DimensionmemberList with value-based dimension
Hi,
I'm unable to use a DimensionMemberList with a value-based dimension. It works fine with level-based, however when I select a value-based dimension and hierarchy in the wizard and click on "Next" an Error pop-up appears with no message and I have to click on "Cancel" to get out of the wizard.
Has anyone encountered this behavior?Hi Ankita,
As per my Understanding the VP column did't map to any LTS .
When ever u have multiple LTS in Dim Admin tool won't create Dimension Hierarchy manually we need to create that.
Follow these steps to resolve your Problem...
1) give the simple join in physical layer for that two tables.
2) Create one Dim table in to BMM layer drag all columns in 2 tables in to BMM Dim table so u can able to see all the columns is mapped in to their respective LTS.
3) Now u can create hierarchy manually step by step.Like Grand total Parent ----> Child level .
4) If u have any fact table joined with these dimension in physical layer give the logical joins in BMM layer and set the content levels properly.
Let me know need any detail clarification.
Thanks,

Problems with file based repository
I am facing problems with Oracle 10g cluster which is using file based repository.Every now and then one of the nodes in the cluster gives problems and I get error message
"The DCM repository is not currently available. The Oracle Application Server ins

When I check the repository host its up and running. This happens intermittently. Is there any way to bring this node back in sync with repository? dcmctl resyncinstance doesnt seem to work.
Thanks

If i understant this problem correctly brbackup lost connection to oracle after split disk system and cant stop backup mode in database and backup failed. How can i solve this problem? Exist some parameter for brbackup for reconnect to db when brbackup lost connection? Thanks for your help!

Backup FAILEDHello,
in note 534729 is nothing about ORA-03135: connection lost contact only error ORA-03114 which refer to the note 335199 and in this note in nothing about ORA-03114 I want to say two things: this two oracle errors (ORA-03135 and ORA-03114) are not in alertSID.log on db server or in syslog on backup server. This error are only reported from brbackup which is running on backup server which is "client side". We don't have problem with connection from work processes on all instances to db server, we have only problem with brbackup which lost connection after split disk system. How i say this problem occurs only sometimes. I was tested network connection from backup server to db server via niping a this is result:
(root@hytti) #./niping -c -H kiuru -B 30000

Problem with java.sql.Clob and oracle.sql.CLOB
Hi,
I am using oracle9i and SAP web application server. I am getClob method and storing that in java.sql.Clob and using the getClass().getName() I am getting the class name as oracle.sql.CLOB. But when I am trying to cast this to oracle.sql.CLOB i am getting ClassCastException. The code is given below
java.sql.Clob lOracleClob = lResultSet.getClob(lColIndex + 1);
lPrintWriter = new PrintWriter(new BufferedWriter (((oracle.sql.CLOB) lOracleClob).getCharacterOutputStream()));
lResourceStatus = true;
can anybody please tell me the what is the problem with this and solution.
thanks,
Ashok.Hi Ashok
You can get a "ClassCastException" when the JVM doesn't have access to the specific class (in your case, "oracle.sql.CLOB").
Just check your classpath and see if you are referring to the correct jar files.
cheers
