Problems with website in firefox

Hi Guys How you doing?
Im not sure if this is the right place for me to post this
but i thought it would be a good start.
A colleague of mine made our website over a year ago using
flash and dreamweaver, i have been updating it since but have found
out that when you launch the site in firefox it appears very small.
the buttons and everything still works but you cant really see
anything as it is that small. This is not the case when opened in
safari or explorer as it opens at a normal size
Does anyone know what might be causing this and how to
rectify it. I have tested it on different computers using firefox
and it is always small.
Kind regards
Simon

With FF you can't use <embed width = "100%"
height="100%"> Insert the actual size of the swf file. <embed
width="900" height="400"> This only needs to be adjusted on the
<embed> portion and not the object portion. I've ran into
this issue before, but it happened in Safari and not in FF.
There's a plugin called Firebug that you can install for
firefox. It allows you to view your coding and adjust it to see
what is causing any issues. It might take you a little while to get
used to using it, but once you figure it out it's great. It's like
editing your site in real-time. You just take any adjustments you
make in firebug and make sure you update your DW files with the
changes you make in firebug.

Problems with Safari and Firefox (HTTP?)
On a laptop G4, 10.5.8 and Safari 5.02 I experience the following:
On the account of my oldest daughter everything works fine, i.e. wireless internet works and no problems with mail or safari.
On the same laptop, on the account of my other daughter, the wireless is OK, she can mail etc. But safari nor firefox works. It says: can’t find server (whatever site) and in the activity window it looks if safari tries to open files (in the safari preferences-folder) in stead of http. Same applies to Firefox, so maybe it has more to do with HTTP in general?
What goes wrong? What to do? I tried the following on the host terminal (tips from Apple)
defaults write com.apple.safari WebKitDNSPrefetchingEnabled -boolean false
and
defaults delete com.apple.safari WebKitDNSPrefetchingEnabled
but that did not help,
Nanne

I'm still wondering why it happens now at this moment in time...
PC does seem to be a bit odd & inconsistent, the few times I've tested with it, at least so far as we content filtering goes; and if I remember rightly, you're not the first to report previously ok settings suddenly preventing some or all internet until pc is switched off altogether.
It may work when re-enabled

Since the most recent Firefox update 3.6.8 my banking institution no longer shows as having a secure encrypted connection, however, my bank assures me all is well with their certificates and that is a problem with the new Firefox browser update, can you give me some idea why it is doing this?

Hello Anne.
Can you please try it in a new (temporary) Firefox profile and see if the issue is still present? See this article to know how to create a new Firefox profile. Please report back the results.

• Problem With Website With Safari and not Firefox

I have just started having a problem with Safari, which I hope someone here will be able to solve pretty quickly. Just recently, when I go to my online banking, I enter my username and password with no problem. My accounts show up. But, when I select one of the accounts, it asks me to log in again. Now, I thought it might be the bank's website that was having the problem, but when I use Firefox to do the say thing, it works fine. I'm wondering if something got corrupted in the depths of Safari that could be causing this problem. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

HI,
From the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Preferences then select the Security tab. Click: Show Cookies. Select your bank site then click Remove. From the same Menu click the Autofill tab. Click the Edit button next to: Other forms. Select your bank site, click Done.
Relaunch Safari. If you still have problems with that site, open Keychain Access (Applications/Utilities)
Select Passwords. Right or control click your bank on the righ then click Delete from the pop up menu. Quit Keychain Access. Relaunch Safari. Try your bank site... if the problem persists, open Keychain Access/Passwords and delete: Safari Forms Autofill. Quit Keychain Access and relaunch Safari.
You may need to empty the Safari cache and Reset Safari too.
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.

• When I use Firefox and Hotmail at startup, Firefox freezes for about 1 minute, and then I can continue. First I though it was my computer but 2 other girls in my class have the same problem with Hotmail and Firefox. What can I do to change this?

When I start Firefox, about 15 seconds after I start it, my Firefox freezes for about 1 minute. I found out that it is my Hotmail that makes Firefox freeze.
First I thought it was my computer, but I have 2 other girls in my class that use Hotmail and Firefox and their computer also freezes for 1 full minute.
This is very annoying, what can I do to change this?
xxx ellen
p.s. I am from the Netherlands, maybe that has something to do with it?

Try deleting cookies and cache:
1. Tools| Clear recent history
2. Time range to clear: Everything
3. If it isn't already selected, select Cookies and Cache
4. Clear now
Check cookie exceptions
1. Tools | Options | Privacy Panel
2. Set Firefox will: Use custom settings for history. Insure Accept cookies for sites and accept third-party cookies is selected
3. Click Exceptions. If the misbehaving site is in that list, select it and click Remove site
Safe Mode
Add-ons can cause problems with not being able to log into certain websites. To see if this is the case with your issue, run Safe mode. When you get to the safe mode window, select Continue in Safe Mode. If this resolves your problem, see Troubleshooting extensions and themes and Troubleshooting plugins

That is a Microsoft Word issue, so you will get the best results asking over on the Microsoft Office for Mac forums on Microsoft's web site.  Many people here don't use MS Word, while everyone there does.

• Multiple Problems with website

Hi, I've recently created my second website in Dreamweaver which was a friend who has a bed and breakfast www.snowatthebarn.co.uk
However I have various problems with it:
1. The site looks fine in Safari/Firefox but on some computers which run Internet Explorer the Divs at the top of the page are all jumbled up and the text overlaps. I've posted the html for the index page and the code for the attached external style sheet at the bottom of this list of questions. Does anyone have any idea where I am going wrong? I've also attached a screenshot of what it looks like.
2. I've tried googling the website and when I use certain keywords the site is listed but for some reason there is no blue title to click on - just the url at the bottom - again I've attached a screenshot. Can anyone see anything missing in my code which is causing this?
3.The bed and breakfast/guest house is in a small village called Marshfield in South West England. There are probably only 2 or 3 other guest houses in the village. However when I google 'bed and breakfast marshfield' the site isn't listed until the 4th, 5th or 6th pages (depending on search terms). i have included a list of keywords in my code just after the head tag. Does anyone know why the site is comming down so low in the listings? I don't think he has any links to the site yet but surely the site should come up on the first or second page despite this?
4. Further to the question above - there is a Marshfield in America - a lot of American sites are comming up before the site that I created. Should mine not be given priority for people searching in the UK since it has a co.uk name? I see that the two or three other bed and breakfasts in the village come up first and second when searching for 'bed and breakfast marshfiled'
5.I have put a google map into his website in the 'Directions' page. However, despite listing his business with google maps, there is no pointer on the map. When I log into the google account I created for him and go to 'Maps' it shows his business marked on the map with a pointer but when I search in google there is no pointer. Any ideas what I need to do to get this to work?
Here are the two screenshots:
(The website is the one in the middle)
Here is the html for the .index page:

On man phew!. Your using completely the incorrect technique to build websites, absolutely positioned <divs>. Bad! bad! bad!
I can only offer a sticking plaster patch up for you to unjumble the text at the top of the page in  IE.
Step 1:
First copy all the css below and paste it into a new css document and save it to your site folder as global.css (do not overwrite your existing css style file at this stage just in case you want to revert back to it)
body {
        background-color: #49602B;

Thats it! If you run that in IE now all the text at the top should be unjumbled.

• Ongoing problems with Flash in Firefox 8

I am still having problems with Flash player since upgrading to Firfox 8 - see previous posts.
Symptoms:
When I try to access any flash containing page, the flash content does not load or play - the area it should be is blank or shrunk out - not even a token jpeg.
What I have tried:
Checked Flash is installed and enabled and up to date - all OK.
Tried re-installing Flash anyway - no effect.
Tried uninstalling flash and re-installing - this fixes the problem temporarily, but as soon as I shut down and restart, the problem returns.
Tried disabling other add ons - makes no difference. Only addon in this area is Freecorder toolbar.
Tried updating settings in Windows Firewall to ensure Firefox is allowed - no change.
Ensured my anti-virus/spyware program (PC Tools Anti-virus) is not blocking any of the websites - nothing there.
Checked situation in IE (Yuck!) - works fine there.

No response to this, and problem has not gone away. Looks like I am going to have to change browser....

I've had this happen now and again. You can rebind the lease yourself with:
$ dhcpcd --rebind
You could also try increasing the timeout by adding
TimeoutDHCP=
to your netctl profile/s - see netctl.profile(5) as WonderWoofy suggests. Although I haven't tried the latter.

• Why does my hotmail account account no longer work right? Cannot forward or reply to messages without the original message being lost. Hotmail says it is a problem with the latest Firefox update.

When I try to forward or reply to my emails in my Hotmail account, the original message disappears. Hotmail says it is a compatibility problem with the newest version of Firefox. They suggested I use Internet Explorer. Would prefer to use my old version of Firefox. How do I get it back? Or how can I get my hotmail account to work properly with the 3.6.3 version?

• I have had real problems with crashing of firefox. I finally realized it was my smartswipe extension. Why does this happen?

I uninstalled and reinstalled firefox. It still kept crashing. I then disabled a lot of the extensions etc,. Realized it is the smart swipe. They told me it was compatible wtih firefox. It is not. Is there a way to fix this? I really like using smartswipe.

Can you provide your recent Crash IDs here ?? (as described in the following article)
* Get help fixing this Crash
That way we can get your Crash Reports which you can then provide to the SmartSwipe add-on Developers. By doing this, you can help them figure-out the problem with their add-on.

• Problems with ligatures in firefox, gtk-apps

I have trouble with ligatures such as fl and fi in firefox and some different gtk-apps(pidgin for example). The problem is that the ligatures are rendered at a slightly different size and weight for some fonts.
I use libxft-lcd and freetype2-lcd. I don't really care for ligatures for on screen display, just a way to disable them altogether would work just fine.

I believe multicast means you are sending with a 255 address, like 198.162.10.255. Most routers will block multicasts, probably because multicasts cause a lot of traffic. (And of course multicasts will not work over the internet.)
UDP can send multicast or to a specific IP.
There is no problem with using more than one port.
If you listen on a UDP port then you get everything that fits in the buffer. So as long as packets aren't being dropped then you are getting everything.

• Problems with youtube in firefox with windows 8 and 8.1

Lately i sell some computers with windows 8, and windows 8.1, so they are fresh install. and i have problems with the videos under youtube, but just with firefox, with chrome works ok, with internet explorer the same, no problem. The problem when i'm using the pluging of flash, is the next:
start the reproduction of the video with the default resolution in my case of 360, but after of a few seconds, 6 or 7, the reproduction jump to the lower resolution available (240 by example), and after other few seconds, do the same jump to a lower resolution, few seconds againd and jump to higher resolutions available, maybe 480, and so until try with every resolution available in the video and after of that show the next message:
"Se ha producido un error, vuelve a intentarlo mas tarde"
The messaage is in spanish because i'm using spanish versions to sell, well, just say that a error arised and try later.
well i think maybe problems with the pluging of flash, i will try with the html5 support, then i enable the html5 support in youtube.
And still with problems but a little different the video start with the default resolution (360), and after a few seconds maybe 3 or 4, the video stop, maybe 1 second and later continue by other 2 or 3 seconds of video and stop again other second, and continue on this way until the end of the video.
I dont have problems with the network, i can see the videows without problems with other computers in the same network, or with mobile devices, but the problem is just with firefox.
Isnt virus, because the installation is clean, i dont have extra software because the first times i think that would be by a extra software, then just clean installation of windows 8 and 8.1 and firefox, the problem i try versions since the 29 until now that the latest is the 33, the same problem, exactly in the same way, and doesn't help of nothing update the drivers of the motherboard or even install every update of windows.
Procesador Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU G2030 @ 3.00GHz
motherboard gigabyte GA-H61M-DS2
MEMORY 4gb RAM DDR·3
Hard disk 500GB Seagate.
with this same configuration i dont have problem if i have installed windows 7.
I guess isnt a problem of hardware, because the other browsers can display the videos without any problem.
- the latest version of mozilla firefox in every time.
- I try every thing, clear cache, disable acceleration, update drivers, update windows, uninstall and reinstall, even format the machine again.
I see other posts of people with similar problems, but without 1 good answer, just a lot of general solutions that doesnt work.
i must confese that i dont test yet with other hardware and same software.
I hope someone can help me.
No big problem for me, because i dont use these computers, but i like use firefox, and if i had that problem in my computer i would be crazy trying to find a fix to the problem.

The data of my firefox is this one, dont know if this can be of utility, in this moment i install the addblock, but the problem was since the installation was clean. then this doesnt affect in the result.
Thank's

• Huge problems with Amazon and Firefox 5 (& IE, Chrome, Opera)

I have Firefox 5 and Windows 7 Home. I have been having increasing problems with amazon pages hanging- not just with Firefox but with IE, Opera & Chrome. Sometimes everything is fine but increasingly amazon is becoming unusable. It has got worse since updating to Firefox 5 from 4. Can anyone help ( in non-technical language!)

Try clearing the Cache in Firefox.
Tools-> Clear Recent History -> [v] Cache
or
Tools->Options->Advanced->Network -> Offline storage -> [Clear Now]
Youtube may have made some changes recently. Clear the Youtube cookie if above does not do it.
