Hello, I have IOExeption when i use a process to
execute a System command such as dir/p or start
rmiregistry.What is the error message shown?
What can i do?? This is my code:
Runtime r = Runtime.getRuntime();
try {
Process p = r.exec("dir/p");dir is not a executable, it is a command to the shell, for NT try "cmd dir /p" and for 9.x "command dir /p" (and there goes your platform independence even withing windows :) )
Process p1 = r.exec("rmiregistry");make sure rmiregistry is in your path. to check it from command prompt type path.
Use a batch file (or just autoexec.bat) to add the path to rmiregistry in your path env variable before starting JVM.
} catch(IOException e) {
System.out.println(e);
Please, help me!!

  • Error while compiling java file

    Hi, im newby in java,
    i was trying to compile java files, and after that i will use it in JSP as javabean.
    I have 2 files already, the first file is a connection code, and its compiled successfully, it looks like this
    i named this as ConnectionBean.java
    package my_package;
    import java.sql.*;
    public class ConnectionBean {
         private Connection con;
         private static final String driver = "org.postgresql.Driver";
         private static final String url = "jdbc:postgresql://localhost:5432/PSQLDS";
         private static final String username = "postgres";
         private static final String password = "mypassword";
         public ConnectionBean() {
         public Connection logOn() {
              try {
                   Class.forName(driver); con = DriverManager.getConnection(url, username, password); }
              catch(ClassNotFoundException e) {
                   System.err.println("ConnectionBean: driver unavailable..."); con = null; }
              catch (SQLException e) {
                   System.err.println("ConnectionBean: driver not loaded..."); con = null; }
              return con;
         public void logOff() {
              try {
                   con.close(); }
              catch (Exception e) {
                   e.printStackTrace(); }
    as you can see above im using "package", and yes i have manage to put all my java files within the correct path (ROOT\WEB-INF\classes\my_package)
    And also, i have test this class as javabean on JSP file and it works.
    There for i continue to create the second java file, as a purpose to create a back engine for JSP. I use the same package as ConnectionBean.java, it looks like this
    i named this as ListPageEngine.java
    package my_package;
    import java.beans.*;
    import java.sql.*;
    public class ListPageEngine {
         public static void main(String[] args) {
              ConnectionBean conBean = new ConnectionBean();}
    on compiling process using command "javac ListPageEngine.java", i get this error message
    ListPageEngine.java:11: cannot find symbol
    symbol : class ConnectionBean
    location: class my_package.ListPageEngine
    ConnectionBean conBean = new ConnectionBean();}
    ^
    ListPageEngine.java:11: cannot find symbol
    symbol : class ConnectionBean
    location: class my_package.ListPageEngine
    ConnectionBean conBean = new ConnectionBean();}
    ^
    2 errors
    I think, i am pretty much sure that all my configuration (wheater its Apache TomCat, Environment Variable or PostgreSQL server) was good, as a prove, i was able to use ConnectionBean.class in my JSP file.
    I susspect the problem is related with "package", seems i cannot use ConnectionBean class within ListPageEngine class when i use package.
    For another information, i didn't install such thing as J2EE, i only install JDK 1.5, i also guess this might be the cause.
    Right now im all stuck, i try to find thread which might be related with my problem but i failed to find it, most of them get the same answer by UncleSAM which are
    Try the following forum (about JSP technology)
    http://forum.java.sun.com/forum.jspa?forumID=45
    JavaBeans spec contains nothing about JSP, but JSP spec describes using of beans.
    i hope my question is clear so anyone who might have experience or clue with this problem might be able to help me.
    Thanks before

    finally folks, i found answer to my own problem hehehehe..
    the problem is on the compiling command (javac ... my_file.java), i found that i need to add some parameter on the command to make it works.
    This problem solved.

    not having any JAVA_HOME env var. Did some checkings and :
    - one machine was having Java libraries because of DB2
    - the other machine was a fresh Win2003SP1 with SQL Server 2005
    guess can set JAVA_HOME to C:\Hyperion\common\JRE\Sun\1.5.0 before installing Essbase, but also guess it's a documented/automatic step... wonder what I'm missing ?
    doing the most basic-mode installations (defaults, automatic deployments), once I get them clean will perform more sophisticated ones. Searched the 9.3.1 doc PDFs without useful findings.

  • Using Runtime exec() method to run java files and return runtime errors

    Hi
    I'm writing a java editor and I use
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec(command)
    to compile the java files. That works fine and I deal with the returned errors using the getErrorStream().
    My questions are:
    1. Can I use the same technique for returning runtime errors. In any posts I've read the process runs from begining to end, returning the errors after completion. How do I return the errors of the app as they happen interactively?
    2. If i cant use the exec and getErrorStream() methods then does anyone know how it is done?
    Thanks in advance for any help!

    I want all three files to compiled successfully.If it is compiled only then I will continue on Unmarshalling process

    I suspect you are trying to compile the files one by one. You may also be trying to compile them disregarding the package structure.
    From your post, I gather these files are in the package: com.geindustrial.sqms
    Therefore, if they are not so already, put them under a directory structure:
    com/geindustrial/sqms
    and then compile with:
    javac com/geindustrial/sqms/AddCtq.java com/geindustrial/sqms/Ctq.java com/geindustrial/sqms/VariableData.java
    (The above is all on one line.)

  • Class Not found Exception for invoking BPEL process through the Java code

    Hi.
    The JDeveloper IDE raise the Exception From the invoking the BPEL process through the java code .Class Not Found Exception (Locator,ID.......).What is process of importing these classes from API.

    In your code (.bpel file) import the library using the bpelx:exec tag. For example the adding the following entry in your .bpel file imports the com.oracle.bpel.client.util library.
    <bpelx:exec import="com.oracle.bpel.client.util.*"/>

  • Getting the path  of the java file your code is in

    Hey,
    How can I get the full path of where my java file is on my computer in my java code?
    Something like this is what I want:
    this.getFilePath();
    Thanks! / Ellen

    I posted a utlity class to help you do this awhile back:
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?thread=425748&forum=31&message=1895876
    As far as the posters question of why you would want to do that, determining the correct location to read .properties files is a pretty decent reason. Another would be determining where a JAR file is located that needs to be updated with an auto-updater. And another is determining where to save data and/or log files. And another might be to do a checksum over various pieces of a JAR to make sure it hasn't been tampered with. And another....
    I think you get the point. Because Java does not have a command line entry point (i.e. the name of an executable that was used to start it's process), this is pretty much the equivalent.
    And for all of you that use relative pathnames (i.e. starting with ./), that is just waiting to bite you. You should NEVER make the assumption that the current path is where you think it is. Much safer to use the utility above so you know for sure where your class is installed.
    Cheers!

  • Trying to compile a .java file from another .java file

    Hello,
    I'm trying to compile a .java file from another .java file using Runtime.exec...
    String c[]=new String[3];
    c[0]="cmd.exe"; c[1]="/c" ; c[2]="javac Hello.java";
    Process p=Runtime.exec(c);
    If anyone can help me in atleast getting the command prompt when Runtime.exec("cmd.exe") is executed...that would be great...I tried out notepad.exe, calc, explorer instead of cmd.exe...all the commands display their respective windows..except cmd.exe...the command prompt doesnt appear...
    Please help me ASAP....
    Thanks for your help in advance...

  • Missing java file via eclipse.please help

    There is a java file missing in my eclipse when i do an update
    via svn.
    the error class the class shows 'Trade cannot be resolved to a type
    How do I import via SVN fo that specific file that is missing?
    I tried doing a fresh update but still its missing?
    please help

    Suresh,
    there are multiple ways to achieve that. If it is a "pure" java application create a java project.
    If you put java files into portal, webservice etc projects, they be compiled with the projects build process.
    To compile a single class you have also the option to configure an entry in the tool section (which points to javac for example) and run the tool, when your file is open (like in Visual Studio).

    You are missing a closing parens. You have :
    if(type = "Return")
    FlightServiceClient client = new FlightServiceClient(ServerFlightServiceURL);
    ArrayList list = client.getFlight(arr, des, FDat, TDat, type, clas, adult, child);
    Iterator it = list.iterator();
    while (it.hasNext()){Which opens two parens but you only have one closing parens
