Processor noise with audio output?

I attached my Mac book pro to my 40" LCD TV along with an audio output from the headphones out to the input on the TV.
What I noticed is that the "processor whine" that we all complain about that seems to cease when we are running things like photo booth, and intensify when we disconnect the AC adapter, is projected through the audio of my TV!!!!! When I mute the TV, away goes the whine. Strange huh?
I don't know if this is a new revelation, or a known reproduction of the problem.
So my question is, do you think there is a relationship between the poor output on the speakers (very little sound on bars 1 through 7) and this processor whine we complain about?
I was generally happy with my MBP and would ignore the whine until my TV set amplified it.
Do any of you also think that Apple would replace my MBP for this and the many other complaints? (Screen inverter defect, generally hot, and this noise output via cable)

My guess as to what causes the whine is this:
There are many small copper traces on the motherboard carrying signals. There are two traces in question. One carries the power for the processor in low power mode. One carries the power to the sound card (or from the card to the speakers). Those two traces are too close together. So when power flows through the proc trace it induces electric current in the other trace, which causes the sound we hear from the speaker.
It is a problem of the design of the MLB. So the fix would be to isolate the two traces.

No audio output for CS5 even with Audio Output box checked

Ever since about a year or so, My CS5 has been unable to render any projects with audio outputs, regardless of the audio format. I had checked the Audio Output box in the Output Module setting every time.Still no audio. Now I have to export the project to Premiere to output it. In my current project, my audio is a MP3 music file. Same result. Should I convert the audio into certain formats first?

Just speaking from experience on my own systems, irrespective of software used, I have found that despite being able to play both 44100 khz and 48000 khz my Blackmagic based systems have sometimes had issues with mute audio On one of the settings but fine on the other. If you start with an accepted preset and work from there it might be best.
Are you sure the audio track(s) is turned on in the timeline? I know it is ridiculous but we can all develop silly habits and keep on making the same mistakes over and over when we try to make things work, then add some more mistakes for good measure having forgotten to return settings to their previous state.
Also, I would not assume you are dealing with one error only, sorry. :-)

Noise on audio output when using the power adapter

I'm a musician and use my mid-2007 MBP 15" in my live rig. When I use the power adapter, I hear a buzz, sometimes accompanied by a slightly louder buzz that cycles on & off about 1x/second. There are a few weird things going on here:
1. The buzz does not happen all the time. That leads me to think it may be noise in the AC line that the adapter is plugged into.
2. The noise is heard when I use both the built-in audio output AND an external USB audio interface.
In any case, when I disconnect the power adapter and run my MBP on battery, the noise goes away completely. I can probably do this on most gigs, but I'm a little nervous since I run a FW drive, an external USB audio interface, and my midi keyboard (powered by USB) so I am putting a little heavier than usual load on the MBP's battery.
As I said, this may be a noisy AC line. Another guess is that it's the PMU inducing noise into the audio circuitry. I'm hoping a simple AC line filter can help me but I thought I would ask here first in case anyone else has dealt with this. TIA for any help!

I had a similar problem and fixed it with a $5 universal travel adapter. Yours might be different but here's my situation. Try it for little cost and see if it works.
I'm also a muso with an iMac running external KRK speakers via USB Mbox2. Previously I had a Macbook Pro and the same audio problem. I've been putting up with a very low volume, high pitch noise until now. I simply plugged the Mac power cord into a universal travel adapter which then goes into the wall. For Aussie users there is an adapter on ebay that will allow a 3 pin Aussie plug to go into female side and has a two pin Aussie male on the other. For US users you can probably get the same although there is a 59c product that will do the trick called a ground lift adapter. Applecare actually agreed this was the best fix and confirmed there would be no problems with power supply or Mac performance. What a gem ! God knows I've looked into all kinds of alternatives that could have cost hundreds instead of $5.

Problems with audio output

my girlfriends macbook will seems to think it has an optical plug connected to it, even though we havent connected anything to it.
how can i fix this?
when i plug in a minijack it detects it, but when i plug it out it goes back to optical out.

Tecra A3 106 Noise on Audio Output while Charging

Hello all,
My Tecra A3 generates an annoying noise on line out/headphone output while charging the battery.
when it's unplugged, the noise goes off.
Is that normal?

Hello there Pedro, please forgive me for my late reply, I was unable to test meanwhile,
and yeah, I removed the battery and booted my laptop with AC power. Result : the same sound.
I also noticed that, If i listen closely my charger unit, i can hear the same sound from the charger too...(It's obviously the same, but a hoarse noise)
Afterall, It's not distorting internal speakers, that happens when i use the line out for my amplificator.
Whenever I plug it out, I have no problem such as an annoying distortion voice on line out jacks.

Strange clicking noise with audio in Final Cut Express?

I recently imported some new audio in to FCE. When I previewed it, the audio played fine however when I added it into the timeline there was a strange clicking/tapping noise playing with the audio? It is in MP3 format and I've never had a problem with using MP3 format in FCE before? If the audio format needs to be changed how do I do it?

You can convert the audio to the correct format for FCE by using Quicktime 7.
Open the MP3 file in Quicktime 7 and then go to the menu File > Export.
From the drop down menu on the Export pane, choose Sound to AIFF.
Click the Options Button and once the options pane opens choose:
Click OK, then save the exported file to a location of your choosing.
Import the file you just converted into FCE and you should be good to go.

Help needed with audio output (Mackie controller with Motu interface)

I have booked my university's recording studio for the day and am having a complete nightmare! There's no engineer around...
I'm not getting any main level out of my Motu 828mk3. Logic is talking to my Mackie interface (Universal Pro, 8 channel digi mixer) fine, and but when I try and play (or record) anything there doesn't seem to be a level. On the Motu the 'out 1&2' LEDs light up, which makes me think that something is being received, but that isnt manifesting into an output. Interestingly, iTunes (routed through the same Motu) works and comes out of the speakers. All the Audio Preferences settings in Logic are set to the Motu.
Can anyone offer any suggestions? We have already wasted the entire morning trying to get a sound out of the speakers!

The question you need to ask is: why do you need a midi in/out? Do you want to connect your keyboard to it? I run my keyboard through USB and that works just fine.
Do you already have speakers? Because that seems to be missing here. Also, if you want to record yourself you'll probably need some headphones.
I don't know what your budget is (one mans low budget is the others mans highest, so..), but you can get some decent speakers and headphones for not too much money. But just know this, it's often better to save a little bit more instead of buying everything cheap and wanting to upgrade everything next year.

What if you plug the headphones and check what happens? When do you listen music it exists?
I think, you should play with some windows event sound settings.

Problem with audio output device not working

Okay about a week ago, i came home from work, booted up my laptop and noticed that the hp quicktouch program failed to start. Then I also noticed a red X over my sound icon on my taskbar. So i thought it might have been an error of some sort and rebooted. When I did that everything came back up find, but when I started playing a game, I noticed the sound went out again... I closed the game and went into the device manager. But as soon as I closed the game out the sound fixed itself... So i started the game back up and about 10 mins in it went out again... So I went back into device manager, scanned for hardware changes and it seems to be working find, so i reinstalled the game thinking that could be the problem.
Well when I rebooted my laptop i got the error again about quicktouch and the red X over my speaker icon. I went back into device manager to find that my sound, game controller device and driver is not even listed...
Ive been looking around for a fix to this problem, but could not find any solution. So today I reinstalled windows again, but no sound, no driver, or anything is showing up. I really dont know what to do to fix this, people say download drivers and ive tried that, nothing is seeming to work.
If anyone knows what I can do to fix this please inform me, the only thing else I can think of is go MAC lol.
Oh btw, im running a HP Pavilion Entertaiment PC (dv9700). It has windows vista 64 bit.

Audio output with aerender

I'm encountering a strange behavior on CC's aerender that becomes different depending on the presence of ae_render_only_node.txt, even if it's not supposed to.
I've made an example project called test.aep, with a custom output module called "QTAudioOn," with "Audio Output On" to have an audio track every time something gets rendered.
test.w_node.mov is when there was ~/Documents/ae_render_only_node.txt, test.wo_node.mov is when there wasn't. In the same configuration, the yielded files came out different.
test.w_node.mov was missing an audio track, that is supposed to be silent track according to the output module configuration.
It seems test.w_node.mov was created using "Audio Output Auto" output option which was newly introduced with CC. The same process was never a problem with CS6. This problem frustrated me since we concatenate videos in order and merge the audio with other audio track programatically using MP4Box and ffmpeg. Missing audio track scrambles the result video in concatenation process.
Is there any way to fix this problem? Maybe I could make silent track using ffmpeg, but it seems too much.

For those who are interested, here's how to add a silent audio track to rendered video:
$ ffmpeg.exe -f lavfi -i aevalsrc=0,aconvert=s16:stereo -y -i input.mp4 -shortest -c:v copy -c:a aac -b:a 192k -ar 48000 -strict experimental output.mp4

Audio output from left channel only

My iPhone 5s (iOS 8.1.1) suddenly developed a problem with audio output last week after about 9 months of ownership. Through the headphone socket and Bluetooth streaming, only the left channel could be heard. I arranged an appointment at the Apple store and they confirmed after they carried out a restore (iOS 8.1.1) that there was only audio from the left channel. The phone was replaced under warranty.
My new phone was partially set-up in store and all I had to do was load my backup when I got home. I loaded the backup from my Mac and tested the audio output. To my surprise, the new phone had exactly the same problem as the one that was diagnosed as faulty in the Apple store i.e., audio output on the left channel only. I contacted Apple support via chat and explained the issue. I was advised to test the new phone without my backup being loaded. I restored the phone and tested the output using both Bluetooth and the headphone socket and there was a stereo output as normal. I reloaded my backup and it returned to left channel audio only. I was advised to then reset the phone and this cleared the problem. Corrupt backup data??
What I can’t understand is that two phones exhibit an identical problem, with one being a hardware issue and the other apparently a software issue. Too much of a coincidence if you ask me.
Is it possible that an app could cause a problem leading to a hardware failure?

I recently downloaded the latest OS update and now I have a constant "humming" noise from my MBP and my audio output is no longer working. Any suggestions?

I recently downloaded the lastest OS update (Lion X 10.7.4) on my MBP that I purchased in November of 2011, and since downloading it my MBP has been making a constant "humming" noise from the right speaker/disc drive area. I also don't have any audio output for FaceTime or Skype. I attempted to use Photo Booth to record a video and it doesn't record any audio. I attempted to reset SMC and reinstall Lion with no resolution of the problems.

Can anyone help with Bluetooth and Audio output conflict?

Audio ouput from media files on Quicktime, Real Player and Windows Media will only play through my Bluetooth headset .
I have tried resetting the Audio output preferences to no effect. Also tried reinstalling Bluetooth devices.
When opening file the player returns the following message:
"There was an error connecting to your headset. Make sure it is turned on and in range. The audio portion of the program you were using may have to be restarted."

Hey DS.. Im having the same exact issue as you and Im sure alot of other people are as well... it seems to be touch and go. I currently own a Mac Mini Solo with an intel 1.5 ghz processor and I have a Motorolo H700 Bluetooth headset. I can get mine to work for a short while watching movies or what not or use it in iChat but then after so many minutes my computer has a spastic fit with the thing and i get the exact error message you described. However when I attempt to go back into my Audio Control Panel to switch audio from the BT headset back to the line out.. the control panel seems to freeze up as well causing me to reboot my entire system just enough to switch the audio back to the line out. I think that this is an issue on apples end that they need to update their blue tooth software or something as you really cannot update software to a BT headset only the device it communicates with. So I think in the meantime we are all screwed until apples gets off their butts and does something about this.

Firewire drive noise appearing in audio output

When I have a firewire drive plugged in, a lot of digital noise appears at the audio output jack. If I turn the drive off, I hear a whining-down noise in the audio output. i know this is not going to be any help, (i need some too!!!) but i have exactly the same problem. I first noticed it when using my ICY BOX external harddrive and thought it was just the noise from the external drive but the same thing happens when i attach my Motu traveler firewire soundcard to it. Its so annoying. the sound dissapears when i take out the mini jack from the output.
I am also having a problem of sound distortion over the output and recording input when i attach my Motu firewire unit
(this is seperate from the minijack problem i think as this happens when the minijack is plugged into the output AND when it is not).
This didnt happen to my powerbook 1.6 and never happens to my friends one either????
I am going to make a seperate thread about this problem now but if you could tell me if you have the same problem with your soundcard i would be grateful.

NOISE ON MY AUDIO OUTPUT

I have a 50 foot shielded audio output from my imac and I cannot even listen to the output because there is so much electronic noise. I thought it might be the long run but if I hook my IPOD up it works perfect. has anyone else had grounding issues with the imacs sound card or imac in general because even when I run video out there is video noise also in my second display. I can't decide whether or not I need to take this computer in to be serviced.

Do you have the same noise problem with a set of headphones pluged into the iMac? Some here have noticed audio noise issues related to there optical mouse, is yours wired or wireless? A wired mouse should be pluged into the back of the keyboard! Also it seems that some have had to return the mouse for a replacement because of this issue. To test setup the audio as you had earlier and unplug your mouse!
