Matrix report with dynamic and fixed columns
Hi all,
I have a matrix report which has dynamic as well as few fixed columns.
It is a fixed asset Report in which the sum(cost) in cell should be grouped according to column and row-wise.
The row consists of the activity such as additions, retirements etc and the dynamic column is the category and other fixed columns such as CIP cost, CWIP cost will be grouped only according to row.
the actual layout should be like this
| category 1 | category 2 | category 3 ...... | CIP cost | CWIP cost
Additions | Sum(cost) | Sum(cost) | Sum(cost) .......| 1234 | 4500
retirements | Sum(cost) | Sum(cost) | Sum(cost) .......| 1000 | 2500but due to fixed colums in the layout the report builder pushes the fixed colums to the next row with single query i get
| category 1 | category 2 | category 3 ...... |
Additions | Sum(cost) | Sum(cost) | Sum(cost) .......|
CIP cost | CWIP cost
1234 | 4500
retirements | Sum(cost) | Sum(cost) | Sum(cost) .......|
CIP cost | CWIP cost
1000 | 2500if i try to add those columns alone in a seperate query and then build the report i get the layout like this
| category 1 | category 2 | category 3 ...... |
Additions | Sum(cost) | Sum(cost) | Sum(cost) .......|
retirements | Sum(cost) | Sum(cost) | Sum(cost) .......|
CIP cost | CWIP cost
2234 | 7000This is my query, i have used union to get the row-wise column activity

How to build a performance matrix report
Hi,
I have a table that tracks performance and potential of employee's.
I want to represent the data in the table as a 9 box performance potential matrix report Each box should contain the names of the employees who fit the particular performance potential criteria.

Hi,
I need generate a matrix report where row and column data will be dynamic. So, is there any way to generate this kind of report using SQL.
Column name will itself a data.
Eg.
Column Name (on top) will be the projects name lying with the filter condition
Row name (on left side) will be the user name.
Value (of the matrix report) will be the Hours entered by the user for that project.
Thanx.. RatanHi Frankfurt,
Thank. I agreed with you, using any UI tool it is
easy to do. But this is the case where this work has
to be done only by back-end.
I tried to use PIVOT but I think this is not a

So any other idea?PIVOT is only available from 11g
You still haven't clarified if you really mean you want a dynamic number of columns or there is a fixed number of columns. If the answer is dynamic then you can only do this, to the best of my knowledge, using the technique in the link I gave. If fixed then we can work out some simpler pivot code for you (although a search for 'pivot' on this forum will show many many examples already).

Hi all...
I am having a problem with one of my report.
I have a report of a tabular style...just a simple one. It has about 15 column heads like employeeID, employeename, salary , allowance, provident fund and so on. What I need to do is to insert a matrix into this existing report for allowance types (like ...to show what sort of allowance an employee is getting and the sum of allowance). The report column heads should look as follows
emp ID|emp name|salary|allowance|(allowance type from matrix)|provident fund|......and so on.
So, I want the allowance type matrix after allowance and before other columns in the report.
I have already built this report. The problem is that the report doesn't fit in one page and expands to multiple pages. It is acceptable for the report to take more than one page...but the report breaks after the matrix prints and continues in the next page leaving the gap.
I have tried all the combination of frames but still doesn't work..
Any suggestionsDear ,
In Matrix Report , There are 2 or more then 2 Repeating frames , As report in going out of page u may have to set the Left to Right Repeating Frame

How i can achieve different size for diffrent item
in my report basic salary columns also becomes same width like employee name !!!!
What is the solution ?
From
Chirag PatelYou can resize fields (columns) by clicking and then dragging the rightmost handle of the selected field. For more information on resizing fileds, refer to Section 25.5 Format monetary values in the "Oracle Reports Buiding Reports" manual, which is available on OTN: http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/dev10gR2.html

Modifying the dataset in a matrix report
I used the report builder wizard to create a matrix report that is a summary of the number of deficiencies per subject. Works beautiful. Difficulty for me is how do I get it then to display only the top 10 highest subjects based on the summed number of deficiencies?
Thanks,
DiaHi again
I would think the search would fail to produce any results if you change the extensions, but if it's getting you what you want I'll leave it alone.
I normally change the extension in Windows Explorer. Naturally this renders the topic as being missing because I sneaked behind RoboHelp's back and pulled the old switcheroo. Then I delete the topic from RoboHelp's Project Manager and amend any links to point to the new .XHTM. After that I add the renamed .XHTM topic to baggage so RoboHelp is aware it should be included. However, as you are building a CHM file, the compiler normally pulls in all referenced files automagickally, so you may not need to take the step of adding to baggage. But if it were me I'd probably do it anyway as a safeguard.
Hopefully this helps... Rick

List of employees hired in a particular period
Dear Experts,
I need to generate a report which gives me the complete list of employees that were hired in a particluar period. Say, I enter a period (date range) in the selection screen, i need to get the employees hired during this date range.
Could I do this using IT0000 or do i have to consider the hire date of the employee.
any suggestions and help is highly appreciated (points would be rewarded)
ThanksHi George,
Welcome to SDN:).
For this report you better check the hire date of employee from IT 0041.
But also check with your functional consultant how the system is configured in your case.
I think there are standard report(FM) to get the employee hire date. Just search in SE37.

Xml matrix report not expending horizontally
hi guys m trying to develop xml matrix report but m totally stuck.value are not expanding vertically.
RTF tags are here.Plz tell me how can i attach rtf and xml file with this post so you people can help me in better way.
plz help me its very urgent
<?for-each:G_1?>
<?ITEM_CATEGORY?>
Organization : <?horizontal-break-table:1?>
<?for-each-group@cell: G_ITEM_CATEGORY; ORGANIZATION_CODE?>
<? ORGANIZATION_CODE?>
<?end for-each-group?>
<?for-each-group: G_ITEM_CATEGORY;ITEM_CODE?> <?ITEM_CODE?>
<?for-each-group@cell:current-group();ORGANIZATION_CODE ?>
<?current-group()// AMOUNT?>
<?end for-each-group?>
<?end for-each-group?>
<?end for-each-group?>When you say "the values are not expanding vertically" do you mean that on the printed report it is not returning all the values for a given field, i.e. the field is too small to display the entire value.... OR the repeating frame for the group is not expanding enough to display all the fields???

Please help. I have a matrix report. In the report I have row group PO Type. One the Column groups I have a parent group by Fiscal Year, and then a child group by Month. When I run the report, I get two years of data back broken
out by month. Please see below.
Now here is where I am getting stuck. I need to take the variance between the current month of the current year, from the same month of the prior year. So I need to show the difference between Oct , 2014 from Oct, 2013. November, 2014 from November
2013... etc. etc.
In the example below, how do I create a column or row showing the variance for Contracts for October 2014. I need to take the contracts for October 2014 which is 3 and subtract that from October 2013 which is 8. Any suggestions? How do I do that
for each month? Then I need to do it for the quarter... then the year? But I'll be happy if I can just get the month working first.
Any help will be appreciated.
here is what my rdl file looks like.
Here is what my report looks like when I render it.Hi Adrian_s2012,
According to your description, you want to compare values for the month of current year with the month of prior year and get the variance. Right?
In Reporting Services, we don't have any function to get this "Year to Year" Growth. In this scenario, if you data source is a cube, we suggest you use Analysis Services to achieve your requirement. If this data source is just from database, it will be hardly
to calculate the variance because we need to compare the values within every two different column group and matrix generate adjacent columns one by one. Even we make it by using custom, every time executing the long code when generating result
in a cell will reduce a lot of performance, we really don't suggest to do that in SSRS. Here is a thread with much easier requirement, please take a reference of that:

If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

How to get the project name in a Reporting Services Report in a Project Site?
Hi,
I developed a report using Reporting Services where I need to choose a project to see the report. I want to include it in a Project Site template using a SSRS Web part. As the report will be in a project web site, I would like the report appears automatically
showing the project of the site without the need of choose of the project.
Can it be done without developing a complex code?
PS: Project Server 2013 and SQL Reporting Services 2012.
Thank you.
Best regards, Ricardo Segawa - Segawas Projetos / Microsoft PartnerUnfortunately there are a number of ways to navigate to a project site. (From Project Center is another) - Covering them all is not an option.
Like I said before there are two options, using a server-side web part - or using client-side code like the following: (just put this in a content editor on the page of your report and it will ensure there is a ProjUid on the query string)

Calculate percentage between two rows in a matrix report with a single row group in SSRS 2008
I need your help. I have a matrix report in ssrs 2008. The report contain one field value column and one value column. I need to calculate a percentage for two values. For example : row 1 : Discount 10 Row 2 : Sales 100 Result : 10/100. I have only one
row group, I need to have a condition where Field = Discount % on Revenue then Discount/Total Turnover. Because of the grouping for total, I am not being able to calculate the %, its just totalling the % discount. Kindly refer to the snapshot of the
report.Hi Thanks a lot for your answer, but unfortunately it didn't work,the report is reading from a stored procedure which I have unpivot to convert all columns into rows, so that's why Discount % on Revenue, Discount and Total Turnover is found in one column.
So the Field!Col.Value is the Discount % on Revenue, Discount and Total Turnover. I have tried to change the code to
"=SUM(IIF(Fields!Col.Value = "Discount",Fields!value.Value),0))
/IIF(SUM(IIF(Fields!Col.Value = "Turnover Total",Fields!value.Value),0)) = 0 ,
Nothing,SUM(IIF(Fields!Col.Value = "Turnover Total",Fields!value.Value),0)))" but to no avail. Any other suggestion will be most welcome.
Thanks.
If everything you're getting from stored procedure then you need to calculate and bring the value from there itself.
