Prom_panic on HP Kayak

I need to install Solaris on my HP Kayak XU 800 Workstation (Intel Pentium III, 256MB RDRAM, SCSI HD).
When I boot the system over CD-Rom i become the following Message after the blue boot screen
Prom_panic: kmem_free block already free
Entering boot debugger
[130ee5]:
What is the reason for that message and what can i do to fix this error?
Thanks Andre

Hmmm...I've got the hp 6057cl with very similar hardware, also running Arch64, but w/ no problems!

That's probably not very helpful Have you tried other SD cards? With earlier kernels (like about more than about a year or so ago) I used to have to boot this machine with 'noapic irqfixup' in order to have the flash reader and USB ports active.
Just some thoughts.....
Good luck!

Need help with Solaris 8 install. Had no trouble on an AMD K6-3, but now need to install on a different machine. Trying to install on a Dell Dimension 4100. I boot off the CD and get a message like:
Warning: ACPI Tables not found in Reclaim Memory
prom_panic: kmem_free already has blocks already free (this last part is almost word for word, I am going off memory here). The system then goes into debugger mode. I am forced to reboot. Can't get past this point (i.e. no files installed, since I'm stuck at booting of the CDROM).
I thought it was the graphics card, so I swapped out my ATI Rage 128 pro for a Matrox 32MB G400 (That's the graphics card I had on the system that I got Solaris to work on). But, same message. I'm wondering if it's the motherboard or the memory (motherboard is 815e Intel, memory is PC133). The computer is a PIII 733MHz, 128MB RAM, 20GB HD. Let me know of any advice!!! Thanks in advance!!!

I am also having this problem with a Dell Dimension 4100. The exact error message is:
WARNING: ACPI Tables not in Reclaim Memory
    prom_panic: kmem_free block already free
There is a current post on alt.solaris.x86 from someone who has the same problem who has said Sun's advice was that it may be related to BUGID 4366007 and to use Solaris 7.
I don't have access to the Sun database though, so can't shed any further light. Any information on this very gratefully received... Nick - [email protected]

  • Prom_panic error

I have went through every message on here regarding the prom_panic error in Solaris 8 upon bootup during installation of CD or the disk. I tried every downloadable disk of solaris 8 and the beta for 9. I still receive the same error after "secondary boot 3.0" and it throws me into debugger mode. 7 Runs fine. Only 8 and 9 do this. I have disabled my power management. I have a amd 750 gateway board..probably the problem. Any solutions?

I have the same problem with Solaris 8 10/01. I've searched groups on google about this problem, and from what I have read one person said that problem stop when he populated all his memory slots. I haven't tried that, another solution is to disable ACPI in your BIOS turning of any power saving thing, and to disable any memory caching, also disable any unused interrupts such as your serial or usb. I still have this problem. The strange thing is there is a patch for this, but that patch says this is a problem with Intel chipsets, and I have a AMD motherboard.

  • KAYAK - what's that in detail

    hi folks,
can anyone give me some information what kayak is ? i'm wondering as experiencing in the system, i found some tools (kayak tools) with them it seems that i can convert existing dynpro applications into webdynpro applications.
is this only for internal use or planned to be usable even for customer ??
does i only have to install the kayak 120 addon to use that functionality??
    kind  regards,
    oliver

    Hi Heidi,
yes thanx i know this thread but i wanted some more detail information about that.
is this "only" a kind of "standard"-overlay over existing sap transactions? just easier to use with web interface?
or is there a generator for existing applications that can be used by the customer?
or is KAYAK the SAP-All-In-One base?
i did not find any documentation about that on help.sap.com - maybe you can provide me with more information about that.
    thanks so much

Does anyone know how travel meta search engines work? like (mobissimo,kayak,TravelJungle.co.uk)

    Thanks for your reply BalusC
    i agree with u.
the sites like kayak, mobissimo are using spider tool to get data from other sites(airline site, etc..).
and they are using jquery with php pages. these sites are airline ticket booking sites.
    my questions are:-
how can they get flight information without any GDS help?
can a spider program/tool fetch the realtime data?
i had experience in implementation of client side web services for GDS(worldspan, amadeus).
but i am not have any experience with travel meta search engine applications..
thats way a need help from seniors...

  • Added Firefox. Dumped Explorer. Kayak site wont work. How do I get everything working without reloading Explorer?

I made Firefox my browser. I dumped Explorer. I opened AOL and tried to get KAYAK.COM to come up. It is blocked by something that wants me to reload Explorer.
How do I get kayak and other sites to work again?

You would make this a little easier if you posted a link to the page.
Most of the jump seems to be some extra padding or margin between the tabs  when you rollover, but I am not able to find it.  Is there any other css that is governing this page? I did remove a couple of <p></p> set of tags you had  and it improved the jump, but it is still there.
If the page is live, run it through the validator http://validator.w3.org/ , fix whatever errors it finds, if you still have the jump, post a link to the page and the issue might get found.

  • Prom_panic: kmem_free block already free

I've been looking around for a solution to this problem, but nobody seems to have one. I have found some other posts with the same issue, but no solutions. Can anybody help me, or am I just doomed not to install solaris 10.
The message prompts right after booting with the first installtion CD. And I'm running it on a Compaq Presario 2100. It has a DVD-ROM unit, which may be part of the problem as I've read.

I've been fighting this problem for over 2 months now. I gave up on the CD install almost from the beginning since my blade server only has USB CDROM and Solaris can not iinstall from a USB device.
So I moved to network install using a Solaris 9 as a boot and dhcp server.
First I thought it was something with the BIOS and I asked our engineers to change some code related to ACPI and also to the USB keyboard and mouse. That seemed to fix the problem and I was able to install.
Now the funny part came when I tried to install the blades using the serial port as console. When you do that, Solaris will create a custom bootenv.rc in the tftpboot directory and when the Secondary boot reads that file, it will panic again. So I modified the default bootenv.rc and I was back installing.
Then I modified my dhcp server to add the parameter for the jumpstart and , by mistake, I tried to install it in a blade with a regular BIOS. To my surprise it installed, so I removed the option and it panic again.
After that I've been experimenting a lot and I've discovered several different changes in the dhcp server that will make the installation succeed. I have not discovered a pattern, but all of these leads me to believe that there is a memory corruption bug in the secondary boot.
While you wait for Sun to fix this problem, you might try to get yourself another solaris machine and install the boot server to do an install over the network. At least that will allow you to try different configuration options to see if you find one that works. With the CD there is nothing you can really change unless you want to mess with the original image.

    Thanx a lot..

  • New to illustrator, looking for help

    Hello,
I'm new to illustrator (3) and would like to make kayak station molds and outlines using a table of numbers (offsets).  Can anyone help me on how to do this ?
I found this image on the net, i'm also using a laptop.
    A table of offsets

That can easily be done in Illustrator. There is nothing about it that would require CAD software. Just use ordinary drafting techniques.
The sections could be drawn full scale, so no need to manually workaround Illustrator's (infuriating) lack of user-defined rulers. Simply set your grid to correspond to the ruler units you want to use (the ft or centimenter offsets). Zero your rulers to the Artboard origin. Measure your offsets from the left and bottom edges of the Artboard. The exact steps could be any of many different procedures. For example:
Rectangle Tool: Click (don't drag). Enter overall height and width of a section.
Transform palette: Select its left bottom corner as the reference in the 9-point proxy icon. Enter x and y values for vertical and horizontal offsets. That rectangle is now the "bounding box" of your section shape.
Similar simple operations can be used involving the Line tool, to numerically position direct-selected anchorpoints, whatever. You only have a few values in the tables, so this would not take long to do manually. If it were more involved, a script could be written to draw the whole thing programmatically, but I hardly see the need for that in this. I dare say many home builders of kayaks and sailboats use nothing more elaborate than a program like Illustator to make their working drawings and patterns.
The profiles could be drawn to a convenient scale (half, quarter, etc.) and even projected to flats using ordinary drafting techniques in Illustator.
To help you further would require my speaking with you in more detail about what you actually have, where you are in the process, what exactly you need to draw, etc.--Not practical in an online forum. You just need a general understanding of working in Illustrator. Then, if you have a basic understanding of 2D drafting, you'd know how to do this in Illustrator.
I see nothing particularly challenging about it, and would not hesitate to draw it in Illustrator. (Except that, since I have them available, I'd use any other drawing program that provides the basic conveniences of user-defined rulers, callouts, and dimension tools. That would include Draw, Canvas, Corel Designer and others.) But again: This is a simple project, and could even be done in Illustrator, and just as accurately (for all practical purposes) as in a CAD program.

  • Help with exporting to WHCC using Lightroom

Please help!  My brother (professional photographer) is on a 6 month kayak trip and I've been left in charge of 20 years of photography!  I have detailed instructions on how to export photographs from the external hard drives, to an online company who will print them.  However, I cannot seem to get the export to work after hours of trying!
In Lightshop, I can pull up the photo that I want to export.  I was instructed to click EXPORT, and then click WHCC...however, I can't find anywhere to click WHCC.  When I use the help function in Lightshop, it directs me to the file menu, where I can click Export to WHCC...however, when I try to do that, it tells me that I've missed an export function and that the file doesn't exist.
I think I'm just missing the place to select WHCC...can anyone please help?  I've got to order some photos online (I believe my brother has me set up to use a company called ROES, but not positive).
    Thanks!

Are you certain your brother didn't mean you should export the files to a *folder* named WHCC and then upload the contents of that folder to WHCC using their ROES interface?
WHCC does full color management so you will need to know if your brother wants the images to be exported as ProPhotoRGB, AdobeRGB or sRGB.  When WHCC generates the print they always use (that last time I asked them) Perceptual rendering intent.
    Other questions are:
    (1) what size prints?
    (2) are *you* to resize the images and perform sharpening or is WHCC to do that?
I'd suggest you call them on Monday if you have questions.  They may have a record of previous jobs submitted by your brother.

  • When will Office 2013 Offline File Cache for IE add in work with Enhanced mode?

The Office 2013 Document Cache Uploader IE Plugin is incompatible with IE 11 running in enhanced mode.
I read that enhanced security mode was enabled by default in Win8 so Microsoft can collect information and advise third party plug-in developers they need to update their stuff to work with it.  Then in November, Microsoft started shipping Win8 with enhanced
security disabled.  But Win8.1 now ships with enhanced mode enabled...   But... Microsoft's own plug-in with the latest versions don't work with it.  The solution / workaround is to disable enhanced protection mode.  (I don't see this
as a solution for me, my last virus infection because of insecure IE cost me over $400 to fix.)  When are you going to fix your own stuff?  Or will you retire it like a bunch of other goodies ripped out of Win8.  And Server 2012.  And Exchange
2013........Lastpass.com has their plug-in working with enhanced mode... Why can't you fix it?  Should not be that tough to fix and to include it in a Office update....

Hope there will be a fix soon....This should not be marked as 'answer'.  You simply state the fact that it is broken as I did and to disable IE Enhanced (warning/warning) and that is not an answer or a workaround..
Somebody please at least look at it and come up a quick and cheap, down and dirty way to add this to the trusted zones so it will work?  then you can mark as answer.  Everyone there at Microsoft sitting around waiting for someone else
or other department to do it.  Lastpass make it work, Logmein make it work, but Microsoft resting on their laurels .......My gosh, I paid $439 for a copy of Office Pro 2013 Professional to upgrade my Office 2010 and it does not work as well as 2010 did?
In this respect, the product is a Lemmon.  I already moved to the cloud for Exchange like they wanted me to, by crippling connection with this to my church's Exchange 2003 server.
It seems the master plan behind this release is to disable function with Server2003 to drive more Exchange server or Cloud hosting sales.  Please make sure the product does what it did before, before you take my money and turn off the lights on important
    feature oversites.
Any way to hack into Office 2010 and load its cache uploader to run in enhanced zone, or put a link or dll in the trusted zone to make this feature work again?  Can someone at Microsoft at least get it on the project board or bump it up a hundred spaces
on priority list?  Maybe offer a bonus to the programmer that fixes it.  A weekend on the hiking trail or kayak excursion, or rock-climbing pass..  Microsoft guys like that outdoors kinds of stuff and will work like crazy to get it.

  • When opening a new window, it automatically loads last pop-up (?) content and I am unable to type in address bar or open a new tab in the new window.

I don't know if they're technically pop-up windows (for example, if you do a search on kayak.com, it will automatically open a new priceline.com window with the results of the search), but this happens with pop-up blocker on or off. Other examples are a small info window from a financial or .edu site that opens up saying a session is about to expire, or answering an FAQ (with the exception of the priceline example, these windows don't have an address bar or display a URL). Anyway, after these windows are closed, if I try to open a new window, it will automatically load the content of that "pop-up". Whenever it does this, I am unable to type in the address bar or open a new tab in that window.
How do I fix this? All I want is to open a new window that's blank, not load prior content.

It could be the work of one of your add-ons, or even add / mal-ware.
Look thru your add-ons list and make sure you know what each one is
there for. Also, check the programs that are on your computer
'''Windows > Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs.'''
    '''(Mac: Open the "Applications" folder)'''
Go thru the list and use a web search to check any that you don't
    know what they are.

  • MDX Calculate minimum price at a higher level of granularity

    Hi all!
I can't find my way to calculate the following scenario in SSRS mdx statement: I need to know the "category best price" of a product category at a lower level of granularity. See example below:
    Category:         Subcategory:        Price:
    Category Best Price?
    Adventure         Bikes                   110            105
    Adventure         Kayak                  120            105
    Adventure         Running Coat        105            105
    Fitness             Training Shoes       80              75
    Fitness             T-Shirt                  75              75
I need to undestand how can I build the Calculated Measure to get the "category best price" column! Note that in the real scenario, there are much more values in the rows, so the granularity is much higher. Additionally, the attributes doesn't
    belong to the same dimension.
Thanks a ton for your help!

    Hi mts_aa,
According to your description, you want to show lowest price of each Category group in each row. Right?
In this scenario, we can generate this column in MDX query level. Please refer the query below:
    with member [Measures].[MinChildren]
    as
    min([Product].[Product Categories].currentmember.parent.children,[Measures].[Price])
    select {[Measures].[Price],[Measures].[MinChildren]} on 0,
    [Product].[Category].[Category].members*[Product].[Subcategory].[Subcategory].members on 1
    from
    [MDX]
Also you can do this on report level. You just need to have the records group on Category. Then use the expression below in detail row:
    =Min(Fields!Price.Value,"Category")
    Reference:
Understanding Groups (Report Builder and SSRS)
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.
    Best Regards,
    Simon Hou

  • Generally really unhappy with this thing. (This is a rant.)

OK, does anyone else think this thing is worth the money? A Verizon plan with unlimited data costs me and my wife almost $200 monthly and here's a brief list of issues:
First of all, Desktop Manger hates Mac computers. Media Sync doesn't work at all. It opens iPhoto for no reason, and can't see any of my iTunes content. But just read the RIM propaganda about how it seamlessly works with all your content.
The browser experience is nearly useless, even after trying everone's tips to optimize it, and you can't specify any other browser as the default. I have apps like Kayak for browsing flight and hotel info, but good luck trying to book something from your phone. I can't even get movie tickets reliably because the browser interface is painfully slow and hangs up constantly. It's like dial-up on a postage stamp screen.
Tiny screen, and the $%#@ trackball is maddening! I'm sure the trackpad is better, but I guess we got the version just before it was released.
Just tried to remove a couple of useless apps via Desktop Manager and the process literally took over 50 minutes to remove them, during which time the phone can't be used. Then another 10 minutes to restart, then it starts to sync all over again and my wallpaper, custom ringtones and more are JUST PLAIN GONE!
I could go on all day, but here's the thing that I can't believe:
I got all excited about the Torch. Great independent reviews, full touch-screen experience plus a physical keyboard, etc.
The catch? AT&T ONLY! Simply can't have one if you have Verizon. I've been holding out on chucking this brick for an iPhone because of the AT&T monopoly, but I'm just about ready to bite the bullet because this device is nearly useless for anything but phone calls & email.
Anybody else ready to microwave this burrito?
    Thanks for listening...
    T

I don't know what you're doing to need unlimited data. I use the internet on mine all the time and have not even come close to my 500MB data.
As for the browser, go to the Opera website and download Opera Mini. The zooming is a bit strange, but no huge hurtle. It helped me access some sites that I couldn't with the BlackBerry browser. You can have the BB browser identify as Firefox or IE. It's in Browser Configuration in the Options category.
Try to uninstall and reinstall Desktop Manager. If you're using version 6.0, try 5.0 and vice versa.
I have had very, very few problems with my trackball. I've had my phone for a year. If it's sticky or not rolling correctly, run it over some newspaper. The screen is larger than some other BBs.
You can remove apps right from the phone. It shouldn't take that long. Go to the options and applications and delete it.
Always back up your phone before you change anything. If something is gone, then you can just back up your phone and try again. I don't know what all is syncing that shouldn't be. You should not have to reload things after deleting an app. You could back up your phone, then wipe it and start over, as other more tech savvy people have mentioned.
If you're really that unhappy and want to get an iPhone, though I have no idea why you'd want one, then just do it. No sense in being miserable. Perhaps you just have a defective phone.
