Proper work flow before multiclip? Crop, Resize, Edit?

Hey all,
I have quick question as to what is the proper work flow that I should follow? I have 4 camera angles synced up with an external audio source in Sequence 'Sync'. Now should I go through and make any crop and resize adjustment to all of the clips/angles and then render before I start to multiclip in the nested sequence? Or can I just go and cut and then make adjustments to the orginal tracks and would it then update all the cuts in the nested sequence?
Thank you for the help!

Edit first, do clip manipulations/effects later. Anything applied to the original sequence will trickle down to the nested multicam edit; it's the same when you nest any sequence inside another.

  • IPhoto Work Flow Suggestions

When I need to edit a photo in iPhoto what is the proper order?
I usually crop first then look at using the editing tools to adjust levels, exposure etc but is there a proper work flow to get the best out of the adjustments? Do you just work your way down each slider control in a top down order?
I've always been a little confused how the adjustments for levels in the histogram interact with the exposure, contrast and brightness sliders. If you adjust the levels then when you move the exposure slider that affects the levels again.
    Thanks for any advice.
    Kelvin

I don't know if there is a right order or not in iPhoto. In general when editing it is often suggested that sharpening be the last thing you apply, so I tend to make that my last adjustment.
My own work flow is I usually first try an "enhance" on the photo and see what iPhoto wants to do. Often this gets my in the ballpark and I adjust from there, usually toning down some of the exposure and shadow adjustments as iPhoto tends to crank them a little far for my own tastes.
But sometimes iPhoto fails miserably and I just edit myself and I don't usually use all the adjustments.
I then crop and/or straighten if needed.
I tend to keep my editing simple and don't go nuts on all the sliders. It is easy to get carried away.

    Hi Srinivas,
Workflows can be used in SAP HR in almost all places and it depends upon client requirement.
It can be used in the following:
    1. Leave Management
    2. Time Management
    3. Claims
    4. Travel
    5. PA30
Workflows are nothing but  triggering the application to the level of approvers mapped in the system. It depends from each client and requirement, process, etc.
    Hope this helps.

  • Plz give me work flow of film editing in Final Cut Pro..

    Hello Everyone...
I am basically a Avid Film Editor. Past 2 years I am using Final Cut Pro. Recently I finished Final Cut Pro Level 1 & T3. Right now I am working as a App. Support Engineer specially for Final Cut Pro .
I want know the work flow of film editing in Final Cut Pro. I am very interested to do film editing in FCP but the workflow from Avid to FCP its totally different.
I tried few options like using FCP & Cinema Tools..
    1. Captured 25fps clips and cofirmed to 24fps in cinematools.
    2. In FCP the Timeline frame rate is 24fps
But I am not able to understand..
    1. What is Database?
    2. Cant we capture 24fps in FCP?
    3. How to Synchronize captured clips with Cinema Tools database?
    4. How to link the captured clips in to Cinema Tools database?
    5. Where do I enter the KN Start & KN End?
    6. What about Pull List & Cut List?
Please give me the details of film technics in Final Cut Pro....
    Thanks in advance....

I knew I'd find this same post here. That makes three versions of trhe same list of questions.
Posting three times here implies you have posted this set of questions in many other FCP forums around the Net. If that is so, do us all the kindness of returning to all of them and closing them. Include the suggestions you have received and the solutions that were successful for you. That way your multiple threads will show up on search inquiries when other confused FCP newbies try to start complex film projects.
It's a bummer you cannot find these answers in the FCP manuals, I'm usre you looked there first. But, since we run on volunteers around here, it may be several days before someone with enough practical CinemaTools experience can stop by and handle them for you. Please have some patience.

  • MP4 imported is cropping too tightly before I ever start editing

last weekend, I took a video with my Motorola Droid Razr MAXX and transferred it to my Win 7 PC.  The file runs fine on both my phone and in mp4 format on my computer, but I wanted to use Premiere Pro 5.0 to do some subtitling.
I've had no problems in the past importing video from my webcam or from DVD, but as soon as I imported it into Premiere Pro 5.0 , It's doing odd cropping before I ever start editing.  I'm getting everyone's chest and hips and losing their heads and feet.  What am I setting up wrong that it would crop like this before I ever start to edit?
I fully admit that I don't know WHAT to pick on that first screen that pops up asking what kind of format I want to use, so it's quite possible that I'm just picking the wrong one there (it defaults to DV-NTSC Widescreen 32 KHz).  I've tried a couple of the options under DV-NTSC (whatever that stands for) but they all seem to do this cropping.  There are so many options on that first panel that I'd just be guessing...and this might not even be the problem.
In case a picture is worth a thousand words, I've put a screen print of my Premiere screen at www.improventures.com/temp/temp.htm where it's easier to read than below .
    Thanks!  Milo

Wanting to make sure I followed that.  #22 said, "open file into quicktime, goto save as, save as refrence video. Done"
Are you saying I should open the original mp4 file in Quicktime and save it as a "reference file" before importing to Premiere?
If so, two problems with this:
    1)  The mp4 video plays poorly in Quicktime to begin with.  It looks choppy, like a Charlie Chaplin film.  Guessing that outputting from that would be poor as well.
    2)  The "Save As" option seems to be a function of the Pro version that I don't have.
I can understand how the phone version could be a problem if the mp4 it produced didn't play so nicely in Adobe Media player.
Seems strange that that should work but that importing it into another Adobe product is so clunky.
Last night, i stayed up late and found a way to move the audio track separately from the video. (hold the Alt key and drag the sound line).
My hope was that I could align it manually and be done with this.
No such luck.  I found a place in the middle of the video where one of the actors clearly says a line and lined up the sound perfectly with it.
This left the beginning of the video lagging behind the sound, made the middle perfect, and by the end the sound was lagging behind the video!
Can't imagine how that's even possible!
Could mp4 just not be a good format to input from?  I could use a conversion tool like Freemake Video Converter in advance to change it to something else if mp4 isn't the best choice for inputting this.
Thanks so much for your help John!!!!  ;-)

  • Losing Edits?!?... Am I having a Work Flow Problem???

OK, so this is what I am working with...
All Graphic Designers are on Mac OSX Snow Leopard running Adobe InDesign CS5
All Editors/Writers are on PC (various versions of windows?) running Adobe InCopy CS6
We are all working off a server to share these files...
This is our current "work flow", I've created .icmt files for the Editors/Writers to start their content in.
I have also created .indt files for the Graphic Designers to start the layout process.
Once the Editors/Writers have opened a .icmt file and entered the content, they save the file out as .icml files, then notifies the Designers that the content is ready to be placed.
The Designer then opens the .indt file and places the .icml files into the layout (this document usually runs about 16 letter size pages with approximately 30 assignments (.icml files)).
The file is then saved as a .indd file.
Now during the editing process while the designer is still laying out the document, the Editor/Writer opens the .indd file in InCopy and checks out an assignment to start their edits... and on several occasions after spending a good amount of time on edits, they check it back in, but they lose ALL of their edits that they just made???  What are we doing wrong here (sometimes it works, sometime it doesn't)?
If anyone could help me, i'd very much appreciate it.
    Thanks!

Hello. I am recently having problems with my
PowerBook. Hope you guys could help out =)...
Firstly, I am having that 'beach ball problem' where
the color beach ball keeps spinning and spinning when
I'm loading applications or even using Safari.
Secondly, I went to Disk Utility and did a 'Verify
Disk Permissions'. My results are as follows:
    Verifying volume “Macintosh HD”
    Volume Header needs minor repair
The volume Macintosh HD needs to be repaired.
Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit
    1 HFS volume checked
    Volume needs repair
I'm so lost and worried now! My questions is, my hard
disk going to crash or something? I have no backup at
    all! Help Help!
    PowerBook G4 15-inch   Mac OS X
    (10.4.3)
Don't know about the beach ball. But the message indicates that the disk is probably OK. However, you cannot repair a disk while the system has it mounted; esp. the startup disk. You have to startup up using another disk; e.g., the install CD/DVD. Then you can run the disk utility and repair your main disk.

  • CS5  Batch Processing Photo Editing work flow

I am relatively new to CS5 and I am intested in automating the correct  gross  photo editing work flow process [ie., levels contrast, color , noise, sharpening etc] once I have made RAW corrections for each photo.I hope this is as simple as refering me to a tutorial
    Tank

Not sure exactly your are looking for, a template or an action to apply to other images. In Bridge/tools/photoshop there are a number of options.  The image processor is quite powerful.  There is also the option to make a metadata template to apply settings to other images.
Do a google search for batch process edits Bridge and see what suits your fancy.

  • I cannot seem to figure out how to export the pictures I have worked on. I create a collection and when I export them they go to "my pictures" as the originals --NOT the cropped and edited versions. Help!!!

How to export you pictures after they have been edited?

Are you sure you are looking at the exported photos and not the original photos, when you say you don't see the cropping and editing?
If so, then you are probably exporting with Image Format set to "Original" and you probably want to set it to JPG or TIF

  • Work Flow play prompt before/during agent answer.

I have read a couple of other posts asking about similar requests but wanted some clarifcation.
I want to play a prompt right when the agent answers the call.  A prompt would be something like "Welcome to Company X, how may I direct your call"  Saving the agent from having to say that intro every time.  From what I gather it would be difficult to do this from a scripting standpoint because UCCX froma timing standpoint.  So the solution I think would be to perform a Work Flow action.  Assuming this is the best approach can someone elaborate on how to accomplish this exactly with the Desktop Admin Workflow Action.  I glanced at it but was not sure.
    UCCX 7.0.1 SR05 Enhanced.
    Thanks in advance.

I thought I would share my solution:
    Request/Issue
I had a request for a UCCX 7.0(1) Enhanced solution for an Operator.  The customer needed the ability to answer the call and then automatically play a greeting like “Welcome to Company X, how may I direct your call?”  This is commonly known as “Agent Greeting” and would often times save them from having to say anything.
    Notes:
One solution states that this can be done from the scripting configuration below:
    ---->Select Resource (*Uncheck Connect)
       ---------->Selected
          ---------------->Play Prompt
          ---------------->Connect
       ---->Queued
However, I find that this doesn’t work well because depending on how fast or slow the operator picks up the caller may hear the agent greeting and then Network MOH while the call is still being transferred or worst case scenario the caller hears the agent welcome greeting but the operator does not pick up and the call is re-queued.
    Workaround:
    ·         Created another script that plays a prompt “Welcome to Company X, how may I direct your call?”, then terminates the script.
    ·         Create an application trigger and in this example the DN is 8676.
    ·         In the desktop administrator created an additional Workflow Group called Operator and place the operator agent in it.
    ·         Created a voice contact workflow and used an action called BlindConference found under Call Control that can be invoked upon agent answer which conferences in Extension 8676.
A caveat that the customer may or may not be willing to live with is that the caller hears an announcement tone when the conference is initiated and terminated.  If they do not want the caller to hear this tone the Service Parameter below can be disabled.  However, this is a cluster wide setting and will disable the announcement tone on all conference calls.
    Service Parameter Description:
Party Entrance Tone: This parameter determines whether a tone will play when a party joins or exits a call with more than two parties. The following features play a tone based on this parameter: Barge, cBarge, Conference, Join, and Meet-Me conference. Only those device types that have a builtin bridge, such as the Cisco IP Phone models 7940, 7960, and newer, can play a tone to all parties. When the controlling device is no longer present in the call or lacks the capability, the tone does not play to all parties even if this parameter is set to True. Valid values specify True (play tone) or False (do not play tone).   This is a required field.   Default:  True

  • What is MDM Work Flow

    Hi MDM frnds,
What is MDM work flow, its Just like ABAP Work Flow??
At what stage we need to define MDM work Flow??
If anybody having usefull documentation shere to me..
    Regards,Raj

    Hi,
    What is MDM work flow?
Workflow is used to run the processes working on master data in a systematic and orderly way.
Generally, we need to have some validations and approvals in order to make sure that master data is
correct. These validations ,approvals and other processes are not done by the single person.Different
operations will be done by different users in master data management. In order to control the overall
processes done by different users in an systematic way, we need workflow.
At what stage we need to define MDM work Flow??
As i said above whenever we have validations, assignments and matching and merging and various
approvals which should be act on our master data before send the master data various application
Systems, then we go for workflow.
For example as soon as we import the data, workflow can be triggered by setting configuration options
in import manager and imported records can be addeed to workflow automatically by setting Trigger action
to record import.By doing this,we can cleanse and normalize the data using various operations in workflow.
and also we can execute the MDM workflows in portal using guided procedures.
Not only that using workflow we can extract the data from MDM to remote system using syndicate step(Available from SP5) of the workflow.
Finally what i can say is using workflow all the operations which need to be executed on master data can
be done in a proper way.
For better understanding, go through below documnents.

  • Adjustments Work Flow Question

From what I have read the best approach for a work flow when adjusting raw images is to pretty much follow the order that the adjustments appear in the adjustments tab.  So one would do any RAW tuning followed by white balance then exposure and so on.
Now if I have an image that I know I will want to crop........do I crop before I make and adjustments or do I crop after the adjustments and if I do crop first, does the histogram reflect the entire raw image or just the cropped area ?
Thanks in advance for any input.

Crop as early in the adjustment-making process as you can.  Likewise (but much less influential) with Straighten.
Note that automatic adjustments (Exposure, Levels, Curves) are not "live" or dynamic -- once you make them, the result of the optimization is what is saved.  That means that if you apply Auto-Levels (for instance) and then crop, you will not get auto-leveling of the cropped Image -- you'll get whatever Levels settings were set when you activated the Auto-Leveler.
This is easy to see.  Find a photo with some broad areas of different luminance, apply Auto-Levels to the entire Image, then crop an area of low luminance and -- keeping an eye on the histogram -- re-apply Auto-Levels.  Then, just for fun, uncheck the Crop Brick.
To add to what Corky reported, the order of the Bricks is fixed, and that order is used whenever the Image is rendered -- whether to the screen or to a file or to a printer.
In a gross sense, apply your Adjustments in the order of their Bricks.  But don't let that stop you from going back and tweaking Adjustments.  And, as above, know that all the auto-adjustments are optimized once, and then saved as the results of the optimization.
I listed a suggested Adjustment-making order in this post.

  • This is wacky - but it worked! (multiformat multiclip)

    Hi all,
    Tell me why this worked...
I had a 4 angle multiclip sequence that I had synced up in DV from 3 HDV cams downconverted on capture and one SD cam.
I got the MXO box and got excited about HD editing and distribution, found that my system could easily RT ProRes (in medium quality) but choked on HDV.
Started re-capturing all my HDV footage as ProRes 422. Then found that I should not be able to include my SD angle in the multiclip that I had already setup.
But all footage being re-captured, tried it anyway by setting up my DV sequence with ProRes settings and then re-connecting my DV downconverts to the new ProRes files.
And it works! Plays back all angles, can switch and cut like before. The SD angle aspect ratio displays incorrectly, but I'm hoping - and here's my question - when I recompress back to SD for DVD distribution - will Compressor treat the different codecs separately and appropriately?
(I suppose an alternate solution would be downconvert from the MXO but this would be an analogue capture...)

I don't think it will work.
The multiclip clips must be the same settings (codec, framerate, AND dimensions),
so you have forced your SD clip into the HD dimensions, which is why it looks distorted.
However, now FCP thinks it's an HD clip, treating it "as-is".
Compressor will treat it the same way, i.e with the same distortion,
since Compressor has no way of knowing a component clip's history.
The only way to fix the aspect ratio is to export and upres your SD clip,
then import the upres to your project and make a new multiclip.
For the upres, you may want use the Motion tab settings so you can see
    how the letterboxing/cropping is looking.
    I hope that is useful.
