Protective cover for macbook

is it worthwhile to buy one of those transparent anti-stain/scratch stick-on plastic cover for protection of the exterior of the macbook? pls recommend any brand/model that is value for money. thanks.

It's worth to use the palmrest protection. You can search on ebay and will find many items for this.As I know the Macskin is value for money.

  • Cover for MacBook Pro

    Hi everybody!
I wonder to know, could there be any issues in using of smart cover for Macbooks.
There are many manufacturers that produce such accessories and I decided to protect my MacBook from outrageous behavior from my kids )))).
The question is: Can it harm the Mac with overheating or something? or I can sleep easily and don't even worry about it ?
    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks for the reply!
For example - the leather one:

    and rubber one:

I doubt that it can harm, because even Apple Store sell items like that.

  • AppleCare Protection Plan for MacBook

I just bought a Black MacBook and I am wondering if I should get the AppleCare Protection Plan for MacBook ($250). Does anyone has a suggestion?
I know that I have my 1st year garanteed by Apple and I think that is something does happen until then, I have a big chance not to have any problem. So instead, I was planing to get a ProCare ($80) for the first year, since I am a nes Mac user.

    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I generally recommend it for laptops. They get a lot more "abuse" than desktops so the hgiher handling does make for more incidents than a desktop. As mentioned you can take 8-10 months to think it over and see how you go.
I personally would buy it but ultimately everyone values extended warranties differently. You may have a home insurance policy which would cover you just as well if not better.

  • Is Applecare protection plan for Macbook Air bought in USA valid in India

Is Applecare protection plan for Macbook Air bought in USA valid in India ?

As I said above: "AppleCare is valid in the country in which it was purchased."
So if you moved to the U.S. and the MacBook Air was purchased in the U.S., the warranty would be valid there (assuming all other warranty conditions are met; e.g., purchased within the past year).  Otherwise, the warranty is not valid.

  • Apple Care+ for iPhone 5S & Apple Care Protection plan for MacBook

    Hello,
I have a question regarding the apple care+ for iPhone and the Apple Care Protection plan for MacBook pro.
Since I will soon be in Hong Kong, I intend to buy the iPhone 5S due to great savings compared to my come country.
However, I have a question regarding the warranty which confuses me a bit.
    1) If I buy the iPhone 5S and the Apple care+, does that mean I will be covered world wide?
I am from Denmark, and the applecare is currently not available from the Danish apple store. but does this imply that I will not be covered when I am in Denmark, in case of an incident?
If not, what can one do? Should one ship it to an apple repair somewhere in a European country that is covered by the Applecare protection plan for iPhone?
    2) And the same question goes for the AppleCare Protection Plan for MacBook - will a MacBook with the protection plan bought from Hong Kong, and imported to Denmark, be covered world wide, or what limitations does it have?
I was trying to look through the terms and conditions on the Hong Kong website, however, it does seem rather intransparent some times.
    3) Finally, I have a question about purchasing Apple equipment from the physical Apple store in Hong Kong. As I am a student, I would of course like to have the student prices - should there be any problems getting this price from the physical apple store, or can one only get it from online purchases? Is a valid student ID sufficient proof of student status?
    Regards,
    Michael

    Start here:
    Apple - Support - AppleCare+ - iPhone
    Apple - Support - AppleCare
From each of those sites you should be able to discover what if any differences may prevail depending upon the country of purchase.
Apple's warranties may not be honored outside of the country where the equipment was purchased. I have no way of knowing whether hardware purchased in Hong Kong will have a warranty honored in Denmark.
If you have a valid student ID then the academic discount should be honored in the Hong Kong Apple Store.

  • Do apple protection plan for macbook pro cover retina or is it just macbook pro

does apple care for macbook pro 15"/17" also cover til macbook with retina or not??

Covers all Mac models. Just be sure to order the correct AC item for YOUR specific model. Price is contingent on the model covered.
Edit: it appears that the AC 15" MBP package covers the regulars and the Retinas as well for that size. To be on the safe side, pick the Retina option from the list:

  • Trying to buy a protective case for MacBook Pro MD314B/A 13.3"

    Hi
It's my first message on here so hope someone can help me.  I've been an Apple user for three years now and absolutely love all of their products and currently have a MacBook Air, iPad 2 and iPhone 5.
I am trying to buy a protective cover/case for a friends son who is getting a MacBook Pro MD314B/A for his birthday but I'm having a lot of trouble trying to find one for that particular model, in all my searches (pretty exhaustive so far) all I seem to find are ones for the model A1278 none seem to be coming up for the MD314B/A model that I am wanting.
I only have that to go by as that is all I have been given by his mum who's pretty computer and Apple savvy so I presume it's the correct information, I just can't understand why I can't find one as I it was a doddle when I found a cover for my MacBook Air.
I know it is the 2011 model of MacBook Pro and really don't want to guess and order a wrong cover and disappoint someone on their birthday.
I hope someone can throw some light on how to make sure I find the right one, obviously I can't check on the MacBook itself as it is all boxed up ready for the big day.
    Many thanks to you all

Then you want to post in the respective forums, this one is devoted to Mac Pro (tower) not notebooks.

  • What exactly does the AppleCare cover for MacBook Pro with Retina Display?

I purchased the extended protection plan for my MacBook Pro with Retina Display 15" and my question is what exactly does it cover in what kind of situations (i.e. viruses, damaged ports, damaged charger, etc.)? I want to be able to take full advantage of the protection plan since it was a pretty big whole in my wallet.

AppleCare covers all the problems you have with your MacBook Pro with Retina display and the peripherals which came with it (your charger) if you have a hardware problem that you didn't cause. For example, after 2 or 3 years and 1000 charges, OS X says that your battery has to be replaced: in this case, you have to pay for the battery, because batteries have got a lifetime, and Unibody Macs batteries have got an average lifetime of about 1000 charges.
However, if the RAM gets damaged and you haven't done anything to cause it, you will get your computer repaired or replaced for free. AppleCare in a MacBook Pro with Retina display is very important, because near all the parts are soldered into the logic board and repairs are expensive

  • Best protection / care for MacBook + nano?

Alright, school is right around the bend... I'm about to order the 2.0 WHITE MacBook... I just can't justify spending a few hundred more for a black one... plus white is classic Apple... Now... getting the 4GB matching iPod nano (since it's 'technically' free).
What would be the best all-in-one solution for carrying both of these around campus and protection? Like a backpack with a nano holder, etc.
Best products to use for cleaning and maintaining (other than canned air), I've hard the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser does good...
Any tips/ideas/tricks to help me out with all this stuff?

    Hi
First never touch the screen, and I use to clean it up using soft damp (almost dry) fabric to wipe the case.
IF there is an oily finger print or smudge that the fabric couldn't wipe, I'd spray lightly a windex glass cleaner to the fabric and wipe it off.
Apple also endorse iklear, and it might be good also for your MAcBook.
I also use kensington wet and dry tissue to clean up occasionally.
I cover my MacBook track pad with a plastic clear shield that intended for the back of iPod video to keep it clean.
Some user use invisible shield for their whole MacBook body.
For your iPod, use the same invinsible shiled for the back and the front side, and it will protect your iPod from scratch.
    Good Luck

  • Is there a  reason to purchase a protective cover for the back of the iPad2?

I am buying an iPad 2 soon and want to purchase the Zaggmate case with keyboard. The back of the iPad woud be exposed even though the screen would be protected. Is it necessary to purchase a cover for the back of the iPad other than for "gripping" reasons?

Purely personal preference, IMO.  In fact, any case is a matter of personal choice - I know many people who use their iPads naked as they don't like anything encumbering it.  Do what pleases and works for you.

  • Protection Plan for MacBook Pro

    Hello
Apologies guys for the simple question.
Is it true that a Protection Plan for a Macbook Pro can only be purchase within the year the computer was bought? Or can it be bought anytime post-three years after purchase, I assume that would be the case though it would make little sense in doing so.
    Cheers,

I would also suggest buying it sooner rather than later. Applecare provides unlimited telephone support for 3 years from the original date of purchase on the computer (not the purchase date of the plan.) So holding off on buying it does not get any additional coverage time.
Instead, buy it early, as you only get 90 days of phone support without the Applecare plan. Also, if you plan to use an airport base station, wireless mighty mouse or apple keyboard, and if those items require troubleshooting, phone support for those items is covered by the Applecare plan on the computer they are being used with.

  • Cover for macbook pro to eliminate slipperry grip?

When picking up my macbook pro i often slips in my hand. Is there something out there for mbp cover or any suggestions as to what to put on it?

3 hours after I got mine it was already esconced in a hard Speck shell. No more slipping.
I for one chose the transparent/glossy model, but if you're particularly butterfingered, they've a variety of colors with rubberized matte finish that virtually stick to the hand.

  • Protective cap for Macbook Pro charger?

Hello, I'm unsure if this has been asked already. I noticed when I plugged in to charge my macbook pro this morning, that the clear protective cap was missing. As of now, it is unprotected and was wondering if anyone knows where I can find a replacement cap for it or is it safe without it? I also already contacted Apple about it, and they couldn't help because they said that they don't carry them. Can Anybody help? Thanks

You may be able to find one at an Apple Authorized Service Provider:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1434
They may have a few laying around. I used to make it a point to hold on to them with my first MacBook back in 2006. To be honest, I lost it shortly there after and I've never been very concerned about them with the few machines I've had since then. Unless you're keeping the charger in a very dirty environment or find that you're prone to spilling things... you shouldn't have any problems.
