PSE 8 panorama doesn't work

Hi, I'm trialling PSE 8 and I'm getting "Error 1 Unable to create window - os error [1400] line 364 var w = new window" when I try to create a photomerge panorama. It does this with as few as 2 photos. PSE 5 works but the photo is a bit of a mess if I use too many photos.
I reported this to Adobe a week ago but no response (possibly because I can only report errors against software I've bought?). Has anyone else hit this, is there a fix?

If you search this forum, you'll see a number of people getting that error message, with no authoritative solutions. For some people (like me), it's very intermittent, and rebooting seems to make it go away. For others, doing an uninstall, manually removing all traces of PSE, and then reinstalling with all background services (including anti-virus) and running the install as administrator fixes the problem, as described here:

I'm trying to create a Panorama asset on InDesign CC. It works correctly on desktop Content Viewer, but after uploading and downloading on iPad it doesn't work. Touching the image it makes a short flash and nothing else.

PSE 8 doesn't work after O/S upgrade

I have used PSE 8 for some time on Windows XP. I recentl "upgraded" to Windows 7, and re-installed PSE 8. After some trouble finding my catalog, I got the organizer to work. However, when I try to switch to the editor, I get a message which says "Licensing for this product has stopped working" also telling me to restart the computer (which has no effect) and displaying the error code 150:30. I contacted Adobe support, and they were useless. I have only installed this product on my desktop computer. I considered "upgrading" to PSE 19, but after reading some of the reviews, I don't really want to do that. Apparently PSE 10 has a lot of advertising which cannot be turned off. Does anyone know how I can get my version 8 running again? I am not very happy with Adobe support or their web site, and if I can't get this running, I think I will look for some other photo editor. Does anyone have any suggestions for an alternative to PSE?

uninstall pse 10 (properly using the adobe uninstaller).
clean - Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
then try reinstalling using the adobe installation file(s).

and ask for an activation count reset.

I own PSE 7 on disc. The laptop it was loaded on died. My new laptop doesn't have an optical drive so I downloaded PSE 7 from the Adobe site. It downloaded fine but I cannot start using it until I enter a S/N. The S/N on the disc box doesn't work.

Those links weren't particularly helpful to me. They convinced me to install the drivers for my USB 2.0 card, but that didn't make a difference. Still no OS X without a PRAM reset if I've dared to venture into OS 9.
It's always been my understanding that an unblessed System Folder will not be selectable in OS 9's Startup Disk control panel. My folders are blessed and healthy. Of course I'm running 9.2.2, as stated in my first message. I also frequently verify and repair my disks and permissions.
I did a verbose startup of OS X, and noticed something funny about "ATY...too old." Perhaps this problem is related? I ventured into my system.log file and there it was, repeated over and over, everytime I've booted this computer:

Anyone know how to interpret that? Is it related to my problem? I googled it, and all I found was a web board of people arguing over whether the Apple installed stock ATI Rage video card that came in the G3's is appropriate for Panther. The Ye's have it as far as I'm concerned...as long as I leave OS 9 alone, my video is fine on this computer!

PSE 6 4 pc product key doesn't work red x

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Back in Oct 07 my company bought Elements 6 online. They want me to use the same product key now to begin using it, so I found a link and downloaded on my PC. Problem is the product key/serial # doesn't work and a red x appears.
Adobe support said they can't help since they don't offer support beyong CS3 products (Elements 6 is CS2)
Anyway, is there any way to make this completely valid key work on this newly downloaded and installed Elements 6?

Well, first of all, that's not true (but a typical response from them). PSE 6 is based on CS3, but you won't get any help from adobe anyway.

I just reinstalled PSE 9 and now my edit effects panel doesn't work when I click on it. Help!

When you are saying that the edit effect panel doesn't work, Do you mean there is nothing in the panel (It is an empty panel) or there are items but when clicked nothing is happening ?
Also, Is it the case with Edit Effect panel only or other panels are also behaving in same way ?

PSE 8 rotate tool doesn't work

For some reason, the custom part of the rotate tool in my PSE 8 has stopped working. When I select a custom amount of rotation, the last amount I entered, which was yesterday, is still there. When I try to change the amount, nothing happens. So, currently, I can only rotate to the left or right 90 degrees (those buttons still work) or in .5-degree increments left or right, which was my previous setting. I've rebooted my computer, but that didn't help. Anyone have any ideas as to what's going on?

If you're going to reinstall, make sure you do so in "simplified mode" with anti-virus and other background services disabled:

Also, the uninstall leaves behind a lot of detritus, including preference files and hidden state files that tend to get corrupted. That FAQ explains how to manually remove that stuff.

Hmm, that is very strange. I agree with MichelB that it's probably best just to get the PDF, but you can try going to your username>library>preferences and deleting:

To see the library, click the Go menu in the Finder and hold down the option key and it will appear below the little house for your user account. While you're in there it wouldn't be a bad idea to go to the Saved Application States folder and delete anything pertaining to PSE.
Repair permissions and see if that does it.

SSO EP/Lotus doesn't work

Hello,
we are using an EP v7 SP12 and Lotus Domino v6.5.4.
We had a fine SSO configuration between our portal ("portal.saras.it") and our Lotus system ("mail.saras.it").
But when we changed the portal domain in "portal.sarasgroup.dom" the SSO with Lotus didn't work fine.
We thought that the problem could be the different domain suffix, so we tried to do an SSO configuration with another server Lotus (a test server) "mailTest.cagliari.saras.sarasgroup.dom" (the "names.nsf" database is linked from domain "saras.it").
- We extracted and imported the dll (ds_ticket.dll, sapsecu.dll, wpsso_v3.dll) and the "verify.pse" file.
- we configured "DSAPI Filter" adding the path of "ds_ticket.dll"
- We added the value "MySapPsePath = F:\Domino\SAP\verify.pse" in the "notes.ini" file
- Writing in the server domino console "show configuration MySapPsePath" the path is verifyed succesfully.
- The portal Test User (T000001) is mapped as alias in a Lotus user profile
- We set the Domino installation path as environment variable in Lotus Server OS (windows 2003)
Trying to acces from the portal, the SSO doesn't work, a login page appears.
And in the Lotus Server Console is showed the message:
"Current AuthData: User = ,InCache = 0, PreAuth = 0, Flags = 3F
SSO Ticket found, 484 bytes
Found sap_user = T000001
sap_user: T000001 Ticket is invalid or expired
SAP Ticketverifier Error: invalid ticket.

So the portal user ID is recognised by Lous System, but the ticket is invalid...
Are we missing some configurations???
Why the Lotus system recognises T000001 but doesn't accept the ticket?

I'm sorry but the SAP note mentionated refers to a problem different then mine.
If you take a look it refers to an error message like "_More than one match for_
<portal username> in domino directory", instead my problem is "_invalid ticket_"
Any other suggestions??

CS4 Photomerge doesn't work

Photomerge doesn't work for me when I am trying to run it from Bridge or from Photoshop. Photoshop stitches the images but when the process is done the document closes, resulting in no image.
The same issue has been discussed in this thread, but no solution was provided:

Purging the selection / folder cache in Bridge prior to merging doesn't help.
Resetting the PS preferences solves the problem but only temporarily. The issue appears again when you try to make up another panorama.
At first I tried it on 4 RAW shots. Then on another set of 6 RAW shots. No luck.

Here are some more things I can think of to try experimenting with in case you find a combination that works. The main idea is that there is a resource issue that Photoshop is not gracefully handling.
Does it even work if you stitch a couple tiny images, and then what is the number or size of images where it starts to fail consistently, and then can you vary things related to resources where it starts to work with a larger set of images that used to fail, before?
Try changing the amount of memory available to Photoshop in Preferences, where smaller seems like the direction you can go from what you've posted.
Try changing your scratch disk to another drive, perhaps even the program drive and/or the system-boot drive. It's unlikely it's running out of 1TB but maybe something about that particular HD is causing a problem.
Watch the amount of memory used by Photoshop in TaskManager and see if it fails when the amount of memory used passes a certain threshhold. Select both Commit Size and Working Set as types of memory to track in the process view, and also watch the total memory used by the system in the Performance tab.
If there is a BIOS setting when you boot your computer for how much memory your video card uses try changing it.
The memory size being a multple of 3GB seems like an uncommon amount. Maybe take one memory chip out so it is a multiple of 2GB. Only do this if you are comfortable mucking around with your hardware and use proper static-reduction techniques, etc.
Try reducing and expanding the number of history states Photoshop keeps track of using Preferences.
You don't say anything about OpenGL settings, so I assume your card doesn't support it? If it does, try turning it off or try turning it on if it's off but can be used.

Outlook 2010 - 64 bit, Windows 7 64 bit, doesn't work ?

I am using Photoshop Element 8 with Windows 7 English Versuin 64 bit, I installed in the past Office 2007 32 bit and Office 2010 32 bit, with office 2007 32 bit every thing works well, I am talking about sending email through Outlook, I don't remembre if I tried to send emails with Outlook 2010 32 bit, but at the moment I am workin with Office 2010 64 bit and I choose in the E-Mail Settings - the E-Mail Client the Microsoft Outlook, The Microsoft OUtlook is my default email client, but !!! when I try to send pictures from the Photoshop Elements I get an error that I have to choose the Outlook as the DEFAULT EMAIL CLIENT. so I am using now the Adobe E-Mail Service.
Is this a BUG ? Can I fix this problem ?

Can you try setting the outlook as Default email client. Here are the steps to achieve this -
Start Internet Explorer.
Select Tools | Internet Options from the menu.
Go to the Programs tab.
Make sure Microsoft Office Outlook or Microsoft Outlook is selected under E-mail.
Click OK.
Now please see if you face any issue using Outlook in PSE.
