Publish Internal JSP Page as Portlet
9ias 9.0.2.0.1
Portal 9.0.2.0.3
I have written some Internal JSP pages that I now want to display as a portlets within a normal portal page. However I am unable to locate a "Publish As Portlet" option in the properties of the JSP pages.
Does anyone know if this is possible and if so, point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
Paul.
Hiya (and bump, I do realize this post is ancient...).
It seems to me that one simply cannot publish a jsp-page as a portlet. I have this exact issue as well, pl/sql implementation of what I'm trying to do (utilizing utl_http) is so buggy it will not work, jsp works beautifully with just a few lines of code, but what use is a jsp page when I cannot utilize it?
What is the point of jsp-pages in Oracle portal?

PUBLISHING OC4J JSP as web portlet
I have developed a JSP page in OC4j and want to publish this page on portal 3.0.9 as web portlet. I have created web provider and registered this page as portlet. When I view the portlet it comes as a Blank Page.
Can anyone tell me how to publish a JSP page developed in OC4J as a web portlet? Can I publish JSP web pages developed in OC4J as web portlet without modifying any JSP code?
I have installed all JPDK samples and they are working fine.
RegardsHere is what we are forced to do, because V2 has had a great delay in the time scheduling.
Hope it helps. Anyone better ideas?
Michael.

Timed out issue in jsp page!
Dears,
It is really amazing for me to see this issue in my application which I deployed in Oracle Application Server 10g r2.
I am using JDeveloper 10g to create jsp pages.
On one jsp page i am displaying 15 html tables for a report.
All tables have 1 query to get records from oracle 10g database.
Am opening one connection and than one by one running queries just before each table and rendering data through ResultSet
(which is scrollable).
If I test this page from JDeveloper, it is displaying fine.
But when I deploy this page in Oracle Application Server 10g,
and create a portlet and show this jsp page in portlet and open this page,
this page most of the time giving 'TIMED OUT', and a few times displaying report properly.
I tried PreparedStatement to run multiple queries for Oracle DB, but couldn't make it successfully.
BTW,
I checked my OAS log, it shows following error:
09/03/16 18:39:08 hrwfapp: [instance=(null), id=(null)] ERROR: Request has exceeded its warning timeout Time[elapsed=61046ms.
Warning timeout=20000ms.] Request[id=5003532663665,3 providerId=493501 portletId=117 portletName=AttritionReports
portletInstance=35555_ATTRITIONREPORTS_493501 user=PUBLIC] Thread[ name=AJPRequestHandler-ApplicationServerThread-6
priority=5 alive=true interrupted=false groupName=ApplicationServerThreadGroup]
Please help me in this regard, what should I do to avoid Timed out issue.
Best RegardsHi,
if this occurs only in combination with portlets then I would try the Oracle Portal forum for help or use customer support to help you analyzing the issue

Hi,
I added a jsp page in the portlet which is not a standard page like the default show mode pages. I have added some code which actually access a resource inside the porltet.
" img src="<%= UrlUtils.constructResourceURL (pReq, HttpPortletRendererUtil .absoluteLink(request, "icon.png")) %> "
For that you have to add the following two imports in the code
mport="oracle.portal.provider.v2.render.http.HttpPortletRendererUtil"
import="oracle.portal.provider.v2.url.UrlUtils"
This library is available with the JDeveloper and I dont get any error while compiling and even deploying the portlet war file on the applcation server. Strangely the same piece of code shows the image perfectly for the default show page of the portlet but it generates 500 Internal server error for the other simple jsp page I added, which suggests that the server is unable to find the function:

Can anybody help? Is this possible to use oracle api in the pages which are though added to the portlet but not the standard show modes pages?
Thanking you in anticipation

user574208Thanks Nrintala. I tried to work with multipage portlet example provided in the jpdk. In fact I created another portlet with two pages and copied the code of the two pages of the multipage portlet. (Off course I took care of the names and stuff). Later I modified the provider.xml by defining "next_page" parameter. When I viewed my portlet, first page appeared fine but when I click on the link which should show the second page, I got an error which says.
Error: Error occurred while rendering portlet - see provider log file for details.
Do you think I have missed something? I am depoying my war file on the stand alone OC4J and some how I have not been able to find the application.log file in my application inside the application_deployments of the J2EE_HOME. I have pasted the provider.xml file and I would be grateful if you can help.

IDeliveryService deliveryService =
(IDeliveryService)locator.lookupService

// construct the normalized message and send to oracle bpel process manager

JSP page is not throughing internal server error
Hi all,
We are facing one issue with two jsp pages,
1) They(developers) have made some changes to procedure apps.dscn_affinity_group_hier_rpt and complied it. Was trying to test the change by using below navigation but found Internal server error message.
2) So had recompiled with original procedure. Procedure complied successfully as expected, but the page shows same error
3) Bounced the apache still error is coming.
the procedure is called from page - dscnAffGroupReport.jsp
and they getting the error while naviagating to : dscnGroupList.jsp
Then we removed the _pages and bounced the entire suite still the error persist.
I Tried compiling the jsp's manually by as follows
[applmgr@blrtstorcl01 DCOINDEV_blrtstorcl01]$ perl /oradata02/applmgr/ddevappl/jtf/11.5.0/admin/scripts/ojspCompile.pl compile -s 'dscnGroupList.jsp,dscnAffGroupReport.jsp' flush

Sensors in BPEL to publish data to JSP page ??
Hi Guys
In the BPEL console the result comes in a XML format. I want the result to be displayed on a JSP page that i created. So that the end user is comfortable to see results. I wanted to know can sensors be used to capture the results from the BPEL console and publish it on the JSP page. If we can do it, which kind of sensors will work. If you could provide me some examples on how i can do it .. It will be really helping . I am new to BPEL and need to complete it urgently. heLp required
regardsHi Marc / Anirudh
Thanks a lot for providing information. But the clients want the results to be displayed on a Different JSP page. I have created that page. Now I am looking to pass the Payload (The results of the BPEL process) to this JSP page so that i can display over there. I have googled it but didnt find anything. Then i came to know that something like sensors can do it. I have no clue about it. Kindly help

How do you display images relative to a Portlet JSP page?
For Welblogic Portal 7.0, I want to display a simple image (.gif) on a JSP page.
The problem is that I need to use a 'hard coded' url to the image such as the following:
<img src="portlets/test/images/test.gif" border="0" alt="Test 1">
- OR -
<img src="<webflow:createResourceURL resource="/portlets/test/images/test.gif" />"
border="0" alt="Test 2">
This makes the portlet less portable.
My goal is to display an image relative to the current JSP Portlet page (in the test
directory).
Does anyone know how to accomplish this?
In WL Portal 4.0 I used:
<img src="<%=fixupRelativeURL(pathFromRequest(request) + "images/test.gif", request)%>"
width=24 height=22 border=0 alt="test">
This does not work anymore as fixupRelativeURL does not seem to exist in the 7.0
API.
Your help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
MattExactly what I was looking for!
Thank you Subbu.

Matt,
There is an indirect way to achieve this.
(a) In your portlet JSP, get the PortletState. There is an example in
/framework/portlet.jsp.
(b) Get the content URL for this portlet by calling
portletState.getUrl(Portlet.URL_CONTENT).
Depending on where your image is (with respect to the content URL), you
can construct a new URL to the image. For example if your content is at
at /portlets/myportlet/foo.jsp and your image is in at
/portlets/myportlet/images/myimage.gif, you can reconctruct the latter
from the first one.
Once you do this, prepend the constructed URL with the web app context
root (request.getContextPath()).
Hope this helps.

you have specified jre on the end of your path, it is not the jre that is required, but the jdk.
If you are using startup.bat and shutdown.bat (or .sh on Linux) you can amend the files with a text editor (open the startup.bat in notepad), like so:
@echo off
set JAVA_HOME=c:\j2sdk1.4.2_01
if "%OS%" == "Windows_NT" setlocal
I this will start Tomcat with the correct settings, regardless of your environment settings. -
How to open a JSP page from a form ??? plz help
hi ..
i want to know how to open a jsp page from a oracle apps form using a button .
the requirement is that whenever we click on the button created on the form, it opens a jsp page.
plz help me ..its urgent !! :-(In portlet project, to navigate between pages, you should not use the URL property to link to a page. Instead, portlets use navigation via action handling. You use the Page Navigation editor to set up links to pages; that is, the navigation editor sets the action property.
Here is an example to hyperlink ans button to open a new page:
# From within the IDE, create a new portlet project. This action creates the project and one page, PortletPage1.jsp.
# Create a second portlet page, called PortletPage2.jsp, for the project.
# Drop a Hyperlink component onto the first portlet page, PortletPage1. (You can drop the Hyperlink on the page in the Design window or on the PortletPage1 node in the Outline window.) Change the Hyperlink's text property to Next Page.
# Drop a Button component (found in the Basic section of the Palette) onto the second portlet page, PortletPage2.
# Open the Page Navigation Editor. It displays the two pages (PortletPage1.jsp and PortletPage2.jsp) of the application.
# Click the PortletPage1.jsp icon in the Navigation window to expand it, and then drag a connector from hyperlink1 to PortletPage2.jsp. Change the name of the connector from case1 to Page2.
# Click the PortletPage2.jsp icon in the Navigation window to expand it, and then drag a connector from button1 to PortletPage1.jsp. Change the name of the connector from case1 to Page1.
# Run and deploy the portlet. The browser displays PortletPage1 and you should see the Next Page hyperlink. When you click the Next Page hyperlink, the Apache Pluto Portal server displays PortletPage2. Click the Page2 button to return to PortletPage1.

Not able to compile an xml file using jasper reports through jsp page
hi,
i have compiled an xml file and got html,pdf etc using jasperreports but that was from an java application and now i want to convert this application to an jsp page so i have copied these jar files "commons-beanutils-1.5.jar","commons-collections-2.1.jar","commons-digester-1.3.jar","itext-1.01.jar","jasperreports-0.5.2.jar" to the folder "C:\Program Files\Apache Tomcat 4.0\webapps\examples\WEB-INF\lib" and have set classpath to these jar files.
my application(java class invoked by a servlet) is in C:\Program Files\Apache Tomcat 4.0\webapps\examples\WEB-INF\classes.
i m using this API "JasperCompileManager.compileReportToFile(fileName);"
but i m getting following error:
type Exception report

i have one folder "C:\Program Files\Apache Tomcat 4.0\org\apache\commons\logging" containing some LogFactory calsses but i dont know where to put this folder so that tomcat can find them.
please help me..
i know i may not be clear to u but plz give me some way out i m totally stucked.
manishhi,
thanx for your reply.
ya i have "commons-logging-1.0.2.jar" file but when i tried to put it with other jar files and set the class path and run the application thru tomcat then it automatically stops the tomact.and when i removed this perticular logging jar file then tomcat works normally but gives the error which i mentioned before.
i have also tried the second option u suggested, by putting the LogFactory class files in "C:\Program Files\Apache Tomcat 4.0\webapps\examples\WEB-INF\classes\org\apache\commons\logging" but that was not working.shud i set some classpath for them? or shud i have to import these packages........ but when i copied this folder "org" to C:\Program Files\Apache Tomcat 4.0\webapps\examples\WEB-INF\classes and in program wrote import org.* then copilation error occured "no such package found.
what to do now.

How can I link to a jsp page from another jsp page within websphere portal?
Afternoon all,
I have a websphere portlet which displays a jsp page. I want to put a hyperlink on the jsp page which when clicked will open another jsp page.
Does anyone know how to do this?
Thanks,
AlexThe anchor tag is the correct one for generating clickable links.
<jsp:forward> is for transferring control at the server end. Its when you decide to change which page you want to show the user. ie check user is logged in. If not then forward them to login page, else display current page.
I tried that. It does open the jsp page
but the place and page links in the portal theme get screwed up.Whats mucked up about them? Do they point where they shouldn't?
You might try using a <base> tag to set where relative links are resolved from.
Cheers,
evnafets
