Publish Services question...

One thing I'd like to see is the ability to push photos to an online service without the interconnection with LR i.e. I just want to push photos out there and then I want LR3 to forget them. There are a whole host of reasons for doing this including the fact that my LR3 database is large enough without adding the the extra overhead.
Is there any way to do this?

Rich, check out Jeffrey's export plug-in for Flickr.  http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/flickr
Export is designed for one-way push, whereas Publish is designed for semi-two-way sync.

  • Lightroom 3 publish service: Sending 3 files from one photo

    Hi,
I have created a lightroom 3 publish service that will export each photo as a huge TIFF file over a slow broadband connection to an external server. The external server creates 3 compressed JPEG files from the TIFF file.
I think this is too slow and that it would be much better if the lightroom publish service created those three files and then sent them over the internet. Please note I am using Mac OS X 10.8.5 and Lightroom 3.
My question is, what would be the best way to accomplish this task? Can lightroom compress the photo 3 times, or is it best to create another script on the local machine to accept each file, compress them, and then send them via the internet? What is the most secure and easy way to do this?

Well, I don't see any reason to use an external script, since your Lightroom plugin can do this without it. Since you are controlling the code of the publish service, I recommend just doing this 3 times:
    local session = LrExportSession {
         photosToExport = { ... },
         exportSettings = { ... }.
    session:doExportOnCurrentTask() -- or new task.
    -- upload via FTP...
PS - SDK forum would be better place to ask this question.
    Cheers,
    Rob

  • SCSM 2012 R2 Portal - Publishing Service Request and Change Request.

    Dears,
Sorry for this questions, it is very basic.
I want links on how to create below things:
Create Cataloge about Services we provide such: Create VM, Delete VM, Create User and Mailbox, Add user to group
How to publish this request to Portal
Create Change request approval flow such: approve creating user and mailbox
How to publish above change request
    Thanks

In addition to Thomas and regarding your assumption "I am not sure if the books help on this points":
    In the
Microsoft System Center 2012 Cookbook in the chapter 5 starting on page 148 the detailed steps "how to create a request offering for a new user request" are described.
Each recipe in this chapter describes how to setup a request offering with all related components to get this done.
The recipes you need in this chapter are:
Creating Service Request templates, page 148
Creating Service Request activities, page 151
Creating Service Offering categories, page 157
Creating Service Catalog Request offerings, page 159
Creating Service Catalog Service offerings, page 167
Publishing Service offerings and Request offerings, page 176
Working with Service Requests in the portal, page 183
Creating Service Request notifications, page 187
There is only one minor mistake in this chapter on page 153:
    "Unanimous (only one reviewer
needs to approve)" -> it must be "Unanimous
    (all reviewers
    must approve)"
I am pretty sure the recipes will work because I wrote the chapter. And sorry for the mistake on page 153! ;-)

  • Publish Services

Did the export feature in Lightroom 5 replace publishing services?

    eadamquinn wrote:
So my question is how to populate those publish services?  I used to just
drag photos to it. Now that is not working.
Consider posting a screen shot - circle the drop target...
But to clarify: you should be able to drag photos to publish service collections, unless they're smart collections.
For example, I can drop photos here and then publish them:

  • Published service from Lightroom to Behance

It seems the only option in Lightroom with regard to published services to Behance, is "work in progress" which seems a bit restrictive.  Is there a plug-in for Lr or Be that allows one to publish and export PROJECTS as well?

Hi everyone - very sorry for the confusion, I absolutely should have started at the beginning of the thread to understand the full context of the discussion.
The feature request you're referring to - the ability to publish a Project directly from the Adobe apps as opposed to Works-in-Progress - has been made clear to our product team, and is something they're aware of. I'm sorry that I don't have more details to give on the process of how feature requests are handled, but what we do know is that the way the product team thinks about Projects is that they should be polished, finished pieces with a contextual intro, potentially captions on the images, and more. We don't want the easy "share to Behance" workflow to encourage users to publish projects of a single image, or a set of images with no context or additional information. The "share to Behance" feature is a better fit for WIP, which is why the Product Team made this decision.
However, we fully understand that you're frustrated by this workflow, and I'll make sure to bring this feedback to the product team to let them know how much the Photographer Community would appreciate the ability to publish Projects directly from within Lightroom.
Thanks for your feedback and sorry for the mis-interpretation of the original question on my part!

  • World Wide Web Publishing Service Stopping

    Hi,
I have Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition R2. The World Wide Web Publishing service keeps stopping randomly, making it impossible for people to access their emails via OWA.
Would anybody know why this would be occurring and how it could be resolved.
    Regards.

Hi, I would add to Susie, that depending on your Exchange version, as I guess you are at 2007 (as it support 2003x64), you can repair the IIS website easilly.
    That link got a good todo;
    - How To: Recreate OWA Virtual Directory 2007
Do you use that IIS to deliver other website ? or only the OWA ?  If only the OWA you can safelly repair it with the Exchange built-in commandshell.
If you tried in the past to remove the IIS, or such manipulation it break deeply Exchange, thus can lead to a buggy IIS. See that link if you tied some manupulation on the IIS (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/320202/en-us)

  • LR3 Publishing Services

LR 3 allows for publishing directly to publishing services. Flickr is the prominent one shown as the LR3 Publishing Service available. Can I instead set my photos to be published directly to my Facebook page, or another service. The available training does not seem to elaborate.

I may have answered my own question by watching the training video further. The Web function may be the solution, and I'll explore it tomorrow.

  • Seems like SmugMug publish service clobbers my connection

When I am uploading via a SmugMug publish service it only uses 80KB/s of my 500KB/s upload bandwidth, yet other computers on the network(DSL Router) fail to load webpages, sometimes even fail to find web servers(I assume DNS lookups are failing in this case).
Has anyone else noticed this behavior? Is there anything that can be done? I don't see any QoS type settings on the router, priority settings, etc. I have installed some bandwidth throttling software and the network frees up when I set it below what LR is trying to use, e.g. a setting of 60KB/s is enough to free up the other computers and allow them to surf fine.
I'm all for efficient uploads but if LR isn't allowing other devices to share the network while uploading that would seem to be a defect.

If your net is that sensitive to an app then you have some other problem.  TCP/IP implementions are tuned to ensure that network applications are "good neighbours" to each other. You shouldn't need QoS tweaks for this sort of traffic. It is more likely your provider is doing traffic-shaping of some kind.
Without basic network diagnostic details it is impossble to say what is going on, but it is important to note that all that Lightroom is doing is making API calls, letting the lower levels of the TCP/IP connection manage throughput and connection management, which includes managing traffic for multiple applications and consumers. This is pretty much how everything works, and always has.
You should break the problem down into smaller pieces. How is your router sharing this single connection? Is the private side actually a router, or is it a switch? Is the switch working correctly? What sorts of connection affects are we seeing? Is the problem at the TCP or application level, or the IP level. If you suspect name resolution, why are exsiting caches also suffering? Or can you prove it is always new or expired lookups? What is the nature of the connection(s) created by Lightroom (netstat and tcpdump are your friends in this regard.)
In reference to this last question, it may be that Lr is doing multi-threaded concurrent uploads, and the number of open connections is triggering some sort of traffic shaping heuristic. I don't know the details of the SmugMug API, but it is possible. Flickr, et al, pretty much handle uploads and replaces as a series of multipart POSTs. If SmugMug is doing something similar, then there is no way the app is at fault here. It is sending the POST parts as fast as it can through the standard OS TCP libraries, which will stop when the TCP messages it gets tell it to wait for bit and back off. The app spends most of this time waiting.
Networks are subtle and complicated beasts, and the majority of consumer all-in-one routers out there, quite frankly, suck. But the take-away here is that the application is only one small part of the equation. TCP/IP is designed from the ground up to be resilient to hungry apps, which will accept throttling as normal operation. If that connection is not being throttled, then we need to look lower down in the network stack.

  • No more Revel publish service in Lr5?

After upgrading to Lightroom 5, I found an error message in the Publish service pane reporting the Revel module as missing. Is there a new module foreseen for Lr5?

That answers my question I guess. Thanks!
Interestingly Google searches would not return that page. Too recent?

  • How does one transfer publish services configuration to a older catalog?

    Hello!
An early suggestion from LR gurus & advisors was to set up separate catalogs as to not create an overly large therefore slow catalog.
LR3 established the published services ability which surplanted previous plug-in services that I'd used from their onset.  (Thanks again Jeffery and others!)
While there was a hill to climb with publish services - normal in most transitions -,  having gotten there, publish services has helped work-flow.
Unfortunately, there seems to be a hitch as when one opens earlier catalogs the publish services have to be re-configured.  There does not seem to be any discussion or instruction as to easily transferring the settings or configurations for publish services to other catalogs.  Any thoughts other then configuring each different catalog?
I need to pull files from LR cats that go back to V1 (yes, I know how to update them - that's not the question.) and I have about 25 catalogs to visit and work which is a bit of updating for publish services.  Btw, I keep a file card (written on a paper card no less!) to follow what is in each cat as there does not seem to be anyway to output an index of libraries. But the query here is publish services.
Thanks for your thoughts and interest.
    Shutter On!
    Dan

I frequently see this advise on the forums, and I would love to follow it, but it just doesn't seem realistic.  I have LR 3.2 set to backup (and optimize) the catalog every time I quit.  Since the catalog contains all the work I put into my images after I take them, I consider these backups as important, if not more so, than the separate backups I make of my raw images.  The catalog backup takes several minutes on my existing big catalogs, I can only imagine how long it would take if everything was in one catalog.
I create a new catalog for each year, but I also have a "Processing" catalog, which is where I import new photos.  I do all my processing in that catalog, which typically only has a few thousand image (even when I have a backlog to process).  When I'm done developing a shoot and have complete my "standard" export tasks, I switch to my current year catalog, and use import-from-catalog to get the images into it.  I switch back to the processing catalog and remove those images from it.
    Am I missing something?
How long does it take to optimize/backup you 500k catalog?
    Thanks.

  • Unable to set up Flickr Publish Services in LR4.1

I have tried on numerous occasions and end with the same result.  After I finish setting up the parameters in the Flickr Publish Services form I receive the "Lightroom needs your permission to upload images to Flickr"   I click on the "Authorize" button and then I'm taken to my account within Flickr.  Once i click on the "OK, I'll authorize it" button, I'm taken to:  http://lightroom://com.adobe.lightroom.export.flickr/#?oauth_token=72157630835444112-9ff8c 3faeafcb667&oauth_verifier=84249d3a8099d4dd,  where I get another pop up window that says "This web page cannot be displayed"
No matter what I do I cannot get the publish service to work.  I had no issues with Lightroom 3.6 using the same procedure.  What has changed, or what am I missing?  Please help.  Thanks in advance.

    Hi
You will need to have different configuration in each service.bat file as the SVCNAME must be unique across multiple instances, for example:
    JBoss Server 1 service.bat config:
    set SVCNAME=CCP_RC
    set SVCDISP=CCP - RequestCenter
    set SVCDESC=JBoss instance for RequestCenter
    JBoss Server 2 service.bat config:
    set SVCNAME=CCP_SL
    set SVCDISP=CCP - ServiceLink
    set SVCDESC=JBoss instance for ServiceLink

  • Can't set up Lightroom Publish Services, internal error occurs

I'm trying to use LR 3's publish service for SmugMug.  I'm a little scared since
I have a large number of photos to sync up.
When I click on "setup" on the SmugMug export services, I get a popup
    error with this message:
"An internal error has occurred: ?:0: attempt to index field 'exportSettings' (a

Any idea how to fix this?
The same message appears for any of the publish services (Flickr, Facebook).
If I go the Publish manager, I can authorize the SmugMug account.  It then says it syncs the hierarchy, but afterwards nothing seems to have happened and the account is not longer authorized.
    Thanks.

Thanks Mark, but that's not it.
I'm not using Jeff's plugin, but the new built-in one for LR 3.2 and LR3.3.  I did try to install Jeff's plugin just before LR3.2 came out.  I uninstalled Jeff's version (or at least tried to - it doesn't appear anymore) before I ever used it.
I'm not even to the point of exporting to SmugMug, I just click 'setup' and get the error.
