Publish to video format or flv

I have created a video using Captivate and would like to publish it as either a video (mov,avi,wmv) or as a flv file.
At the moment I can only see export to SWF which adds player controls (which I don't want, as I would prefer to use my own)
Can anyone help? Point me in the right direction for how to do this?
Cheers

I'm not sure which version of Captivate we are using (i'll find out when I return to work after the weekend) but I don't remember seeing anything about flv or mp4 so I'll assume it's not one of those versions.
I tried the unchecking of the Skin in the publish settings but what happens is I still get the play button and when clicked I am unable to stop it playing again so it's not really an option. What I need to do is instead put it in my own player hence needing to export to flv or video format.
We recorded at 1024x768 so we could resize the video to the correct sizes ie. 800x600 and 480x320

    Hello there,
    You can publish as MP4 from Captivate and then use any video converters to convert from MP4 to whatever format you need. But, as Lilybiri mentioned, there won't be any interactivity in the videos.
    Thanks,

  • Convert video format to flv

    Anyone know how, or can point me in the direction as to how
    youTube convert video formats to flv on their servers? thanks to
    any responders.

    I don't know exactly what youtube or google uses for their
    transcoding systems but there are a few products that can do
    exactly the same:
    Rhozet
    Flix Engine
    FlipFactory
    FFMPEG
    FFMPEg is open source and you can download it for free,
    during the other ones need a commercial license.

    Hi,
    For you first question, Sharepoint does not provides any tool which could convert any video format to .flv so it is off topic here. But here is some good ref i have found:
    http://www.helpprogrammers.com/csharpsample.aspx
    http://forums.asp.net/t/1266336.aspx/1
    For your second issue, SharePoint will play all files that windows media player can play. See below links for your ref:

  • Apple video format.

    Wouldn't it be awesome if, Apple changed their video format to ".flv"? or at least include it?
    this would mean: less space, lighter decoding, and no more convertion of video files.
    SUPPORT!!

    Give that FLV is an Adobe-proprietary format and Apple has a strong preference toward open standards such as h.264 and AAC, the formats currently used in the iTuens Store, and given that Adobe has never been able to deliver a version of Flash Player suitable for Apple's iOS devices and has now announced abandonment of further development Flash for any mobile devices, it's highly unlikely that Apple would consider offering content in FLV in the future. But you can suggest it to them here:

  • Enquiries on whether fla can be linked to another fla, swf to flv or other video format and buttons to an animation

    I have 3 enquiries.
    1) How do I embed another fla within fla.
    For example, I am working on a fla, is it possible to create
    a link to another fla via a button?
    2) How do i convert a swf file into a flv file or any other
    video format like avi, mp4, etc?
    I am asking this because I realized when I try to import a
    swf into my fla file, I could only bundle it for mobile. Neither
    the progressive nor the streaming nor the embeding options could be
    checked.
    3) After adding tweening motion to an animation, is it
    possible to add buttons to play/pause? Do I have to write a script
    to enable the buttons to work?
    I tried adding buttons (Windows>components>video),
    however, the buttons were not functioning like the case when I
    imported a video. I think it's because adding tweening to an
    animation doesn't really dismiss it as a video file.
    I would greatly appreaciate if anyone could post a solution
    to my problems.
    Thanks.

    I am not so sure that this is a bug, and I have not been able to reproduce this behavior that you are describing.
    But you can lock it from editing by right-clicking on the graph and go to Properties>>Appearance>>Enabled State --> Disabled
    Also, word of advice for the future: You will get more replies from the community with shorter posts and keeping it to one question per post. Summarize what the issue is, and put the detailed documentation and instructions to reproduce in the actual VI.

  • S.O.S. - Converting SWF or F4V to a video format!!!

    I have these tools at my disposal:
    iMac with commonly preloaded apps
    QT 7 Pro
    Captivate 5
    CS4 Web Premium
    Why can't I seem to come up with a solution to convert any rpoducts of .cp project file or a published .swf or .f4v to a video format (other than .swf or .f4v)???
    HELP!!!
    This is me calm.
    Thanks in advance for your input.

    Thanks for the quick reply but I omitted to mention that I am not trying to maintain interactivity in this particular video.
    I simply grabbed screen shots from an iPhone app and added mouse clicks and paths to the images for what I thought would've been an effortless, quick video.
    With this clarification I hope somone has a recommedation on converting either a(.swf) or (.f4v) or (.flv) into a format that is accepted by iMovie?
    Thanks again community,

  • I recored a video with my ipad, downloaded it to my mac but I cant upload it to Youtube because the format IMG is not a video format. How can I convert it?

    How can I convert a video I took with my ipad on the format IMG to a supported format for Youtube?

    To upload videos to YouTube we have to make sure videos are in a format that YouTube accepts. Here’s the list of some well-known video formats which YouTube supports:
    WebM files (Vp8 video codec and Vorbis Audio codec)
    MPEG4, 3GPP and MOV files – (typically supporting h264 and mpeg4 video codecs and AAC audio codec)
    AVI (Many cameras output this format – typically the video codec is MJPEG and audio is PCM)
    MPEGPS (Typically supporting MPEG2 video codec and MP2 audio)
    WMV)
    FLV (Adobe – FLV1 video codec, MP3 audio)
    But I think you get the wrong video file. iPad recorded video files are in m4v, mp4, mov, avi format but not the img files. Anyway, if you need a video converter, Format factory or iFunia video converter are good choice.
    Good luck!

  • Best video format for mac and pc

    Hello,
    I recently embeded an mpeg video, flv, mp4, and swf video file to my web page. I then asked several pc users to go to my page and see if they could view the animation clips. They were were able to view all clips, but the mpeg and flv clips automatically downloaded to their computer. I don't want that to happen. The mp4 did not download, and it worked as well.
    How do I stop this from happening? I ask becuase it seems flv is used by mac and pc users alike, and I think I may use said format.
    What is the most widely used video format by both mac and pc users?
    ... should I just stick with mp4 since it worked without down loading?
    rekh
    code i used...
    <iframe width="410"
      height="357"
      src="http://www.mysite.tv/myfolder/myfile.mp4"
      frameborder="0"
      allowfullscreen=""></iframe>

    Colin has pointed you in the correct direction.
    I'll bet you're using just plain text "links" to your files. That method by-passes the browser plug-in and can cause issues (especially on Windows).
    You need solid html code that gives the browser plug-in all of the needed instructions.
    Another thing that may have happened is that your fast start files have lost their fast start abilities. This happens with any fast start file that is then edited and uses a regular "save". Save As will restore the fast start feature (even in files that do not normally have it).
    AVI is dead. Do not use it.
    Many WMP formats (codecs) are not yet ported to the Mac OS so that delivery container should also be ruled out.
    H.264 Video codec (default in most Tiger app exports) also requires the viewing machine (Mac or PC) have QuickTime version 7 installed.
    Since not all machines can install QT version 7 (requires 10.3.9 or Win 2000 or XP) maybe you should rule it out, too.
    So.
    What are we left with?
    Maybe QuickTime format using MPEG-4 Video codec and AAC audio?
    They would only require QuickTime version 6 be installed. Since version 6 has been around for over 5 years it may be your best option.
    But you're still going to get complaints from PC viewers.

  • Video formats allowed for f4fpackager

    I'm facing issues with using f4fpackager for different video formats.
    With mp4 file - which plays in a flash player properly - I get only one segment, and a f4m file without bootstrap info.  This f4m file dosen't plays and I get stream not found.
    ./f4fpackager --input-file=400.mp4 --bitrate=400 --output-path=abrsample
    Here is how the f4m looks like

    I tried using the f4fpackager with flv files, but getting an error there too.
    $ ./f4fpackager --input-file=sample.flv  --bitrate=400 --output-path=flvsample
    Error 14: Error when reading the FLV
    Is there any particular video format specification which is recommended to be used with f4fpackager?

    No the sample isn't same as FMS.
    I'm able to fragment a video using another mp4 video. (Open source video downloaded from elephants dream site.)
    But many others which I've tried, which are also mp4 videos, and which play well in flash player - are getting stuck. The generated f4m file segment I've already pasted above.
    FLV files so far I've tried, are also not working. I get Error 14, Error when reading the FLV - So seems like again some format issue. I again can play this flv file directly from a flash player.

  • How do I save a slideshow made in iDVD to a different video format.

    How can I convert a slideshow made in iDVD to one of these video formats: 3g2, 3gp, 3gp2, 3gpp, 3p, asf, avi, divx, dv, dvx, flv, moov, mov, mp4, mpeg4, mpg4, mpe, mpeg, mpg, qt, wmv, xvid so I can download into photobucket.
    Thanks!

    Did you start your slideshow in iMovie? I do....from there I send it to iDVD, but if I want to do something else with it, before I send it to iDVD, I simply export it from iMovie. That creates a .mov.
    If you have the Video TS folder that is on a DVD, Streamclip can extract it. Another option is to use Quicktime Pro to convert your .mov to whatever.....if you want WMV, use the studio version of Flip4Mac.

  • What video format to export for Ipad Apps

    Hi,
    I am new in export flash to ipad. I tried to export my video as FLV for my ipad apps, it plays but its lagging or jerky.
    I had tried other formats like mp4, f4v, m4v or mov it just doesn't play
    Wonder if anyone knows what video format to export for my ipad apps?

    [email protected], on an iPad, here's what I did to get the FLV loading and taking up (most) of the screen. You can't use the FLV Component skins so you have to use the UI Components as markc888 suggested below your comment. My only gripe with this solution is that I can't get the fullScreen button to make the video go full screen.
    This is starts from a playVideo button on my stage.
    playVideo.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, playVideoClick);
    function playVideoClick(event:MouseEvent):void {
    var flvPlayback:FLVPlayback = new FLVPlayback();
    flvPlayback.x = 62;
    flvPlayback.y = 62;
    flvPlayback.width = 900;
    flvPlayback.height = 506;
    flvPlayback.fullScreenTakeOver = true;
    flvPlayback.autoPlay = true;
    flvPlayback.source = "yourMovie.flv";
    flvPlayback.bufferTime = .1;
    addChild(flvPlayback);
    flvPlayback.playPauseButton = playPauseBtn_mc;
    flvPlayback.stopButton = stopBtn_mc;
    flvPlayback.seekBar = seekBar_mc;
    var closeMovie:yourMovieClip = new yourMovieClip();
    addChild(closeMovie);
    closeMovie.x = 977;
    closeMovie.y = 77;
    closeMovie.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, closeMovieClick);
    function closeMovie(event:MouseEvent):void {
    flvPlayback.stop();
    removeChild(flvPlayback);
    removeChild(closePres);
    Hope it helps...
