Published page doesn't match page shown on IWeb

Hi Folks, I have been trying to update my website, but one page won't publish as it is shown on IWeb. All the other pages are fine, but this one changes the font size and colour, changes the format of photos, puts in extra headings that are oddly formatted, and generally looks totally different to the modified page. I have tried reformatting the whole page- and it looks correct on IWeb, but when saved and published it goes weird again.
Next time I open IWeb, it looks like it should- but again publishes strangely.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!

Before viewing a freshly published page in the browser make sure you have emptied the browser cache.
To find out where the problem lies you need to publish your site to a local folder and launch this version in the browser to see if its OK.
If this version of your site has problems you need to troubleshoot iWeb. The steps required to do this, and more, are shown here under "Troubleshooting" .....

  • My Website Design and Pages in the iWeb Application has all Disappeared?

    Hello,
    Last time I uploaded to my website I pressed save as always. Now when I open iWeb (Version 1.1.2) my design and the web pages I created are all gone and it asks me to choose a template as if this is the first time I have used the Application iWeb.
    My website is still on-line. How can I correct this? Does it have something to do with the MobileMe fiasco?
    Thanks Rock

    RockSavage wrote:

    Rock ~ Perhaps. To use MobileMe, the version of OS X you indicate you are using (10.4.10) needs to be upgraded to 10.4.11. See this _.Mac to MobileMe transition FAQ_. ...Run +Software Update+ and you may also get an iWeb update.
    It sounds like iWeb cannot find its Domain file, normally located in the +~/Library/Application Support/iWeb+ folder. Have you moved it, or made any major changes to your Mac?
    If you've been prudently making backup copies of iWeb's domain file as described HERE, you could try double-clicking on that backup copy and see if it opens up the last backup version of your sites.
    "iWeb stores everything in a Domain file, normally located in the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder (although it can be moved). If you no longer have this file, you can view your currently published pages and manually recreate them within iWeb, but there is no way to import published pages back into iWeb. You can manually back up the Domain file, or use Backup to back it up."

  • MOSS: Cannot set "Modified", "Modified By", "Created" and "Created by" fields in the publishing pages list without changing version?

    Hello everyone,
    I've got the task to programmatically import data to a moss web by add publishing pages to the pages-library with enabled moderation and major/minor-versioning.
    This is not really difficult but the main issue is to set the values for the fields "Created", "Created by", "Modified" and "Modified by".
    Also this is not relly difficult. By setting the internal field-properties "Author" for Created by and "Editor" for Modified by there values are set.
    But the main problem now is, that I have to approve the publish page. After that, the value of the "Modified"-Field is change to the current datetime which is not acceptable.
    If I redo an updating of the listitem, the file-version is increased to 1.1 which is also not acceptable. I do this by .UpdateOverwriteVersion(), which MSDN says of that it doesn't increase the version but indeed it does.
    Following an example code of my approach:
    using (SPSite spSite = new SPSite(SiteCollectionURL))
    using (SPWeb spWeb = spSite.OpenWeb())
    PublishingWeb publishingWeb = PublishingWeb.GetPublishingWeb(spWeb);
    PageLayout[] layouts = publishingWeb.GetAvailablePageLayouts(<Guid of my pageLayout>);
    if (layouts != null && layouts.Length > 0)
    PageLayout layout = layouts[0];
    PublishingPage newPage;
    // add new publishing page
    newPage = publishingWeb.GetPublishingPages(0).Add("test.aspx", layout);
    newPage.Title = "testpage";
    newPage.ListItem[SPBuiltInFieldId.Comments] = "test comment";
    newPage.Update();
    newPage.CheckIn("Checked in programmatically");
    SPListItem tmpListItem = publishingWeb.PagesList.GetItemById(newPage.ListItem.ID);
    string creationDate = "2009-11-05T22:35:10Z";
    string modifyDate = "2009-11-06T22:35:10Z";
    tmpListItem["Author"] = "1;#User 1";
    tmpListItem["Editor"] = "2;#User 2";
    tmpListItem["Created"] = creationDate;
    tmpListItem["Modified"] = modifyDate;
    tmpListItem.UpdateOverwriteVersion();
    // data is now alright set, now approve
    tmpListItem.File.Approve("Approve test");
    // publishingpage is now approved but modified-date has changed, try to reset data
    SPListItem updItem = spWeb.GetList(spWeb.Url + "/Pages").GetItemById(tmpListItem.ID);
    updItem["Author"] = "1;#User 1";
    updItem["Editor"] = "2;#User 2";
    updItem["Created"] = creationDate;
    updItem["Modified"] = modifyDate;
    tmpListItem.UpdateOverwriteVersion();
    // now all four values are correct but now version is 1.1 and approval status 'draft' again
    Also updating the listitem by ProcessBatchData doesn't do it becaue I couldn't successfully update the author/editor-fields.
    Do you have any working ideas or hints for me?
    Greetings from Germany,
    LoneSurvivor

    I think iv cracked it...
    Coppied straight from my code so the variable names dont match but the principal is there...
    $dstfile.ListItemAllFields["Author"] = ($author.ID.ToString() + ";#" + $author.LoginName)
    $dstfile.ListItemAllFields["Editor"] = ($modifier.ID.ToString() + ";#" + $modifier.LoginName)
    $dstfile.ListItemAllFields["Created"] = $srcfile.TimeCreated.ToLocalTime()
    $dstfile.ListItemAllFields["Modified"] = $last.ToLocalTime()
    # changes to editor have to be done by Update or UpdateOverwriteVersion
    $dstfile.ListItemAllFields.UpdateOverwriteVersion()
    if ($file.Level -eq "Published") {
    # publish not needed and overwrites 'Editor' so dont use
    # $dstfile.Publish($file.CheckInComment)
    # use .Approve() which updates the major minor versions too
    $dstfile.Approve($file.CheckInComment)
    # approve changes the dates so correct here
    $dstfile.ListItemAllFields["Created"] = $srcfile.TimeCreated.ToLocalTime()
    $dstfile.ListItemAllFields["Modified"] = $last.ToLocalTime()
    $dstfile.ListItemAllFields.SystemUpdate()

    DeActive and then ReActivate Sharepoint Site Publishing Infrastructure feature at both Site And Web level Scope.
    To Deactivate at web level, Open SharePoint Site. Click on Site Actions -> Site Settings, then click on Manage site features and then Deactivate Publishing Infrastructure feature.
    Similarly you can deactivate at site level, Open SharePoint Site. Click on Site Actions -> Site Settings, then Site collection administration and then go to Site collection features. there deactivate Publishing Infrastructure feature.
    To Reactivate again the feature, follow the above steps.
    http://www.c-sharpcorner.com/Blogs/15338/invalid-splistitem-the-splistitem-provided-is-not-compatibl.aspx
    1.The simple thing is to try deactivate and reactive the publishing features both at site collection and site level.
    2. If the above doesn't work then proceed to below PowerShell script.
     $site = Get-SPSite "http://www.mysites/  "
    $web = $site.openweb()
     $correctId = $web.Lists["Pages"].ID $web.AllProperties["__PagesListId"] = $correctId.ToString()
    $Web.AllProperties["__PublishingFeatureActivated"]="True"
    $web.Update()
    3. The key point is PublishingFeatureActivated bag which has to be true .

  • Export to PDF from Autocad: Acrobat always opens PDF with 'layers panel and page' shown.

    Hello,
    Whenever I export to PDF from Autocad, Adobe Acrobat opens the PDF with the 'Layers Panel and Page' shown.
    Each time I have to manually go to 'Properties' and select 'Page only', close 'Properties' and close the PDF and select to save the changes, in order to show the just the page.
    Is there a way to make PDFs always export to 'Page only' automatically as default?
    Thanks!
    Ione

    Thakns Peter, I had seen this thread, but it doesn't really address my issue. I've exported individual chapters from the book file, all with success, so I know there isn't a file corruption issue.  The problem seems to do more with memory allocation/usage.
    I have tried: quitting and then immediately exporting the file, and even rebooting and then relanuching and exporting.  Both of these allow me to get a few pages farther along, but still not through the entire book.
    I remember back in the day there used to be a setting for how much RAM/dis c space was allocated to a certain applicatino (I knowm it was a long time ago).  I didn't know if there might be something like this hidden somewhere

  • External List and Publishing Pages

    Noted here:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/3314833a-8fbf-47dc-b05c-aa3f797e899f/action?threadDisplayName=external-list-not-updating-on-published-page
    It is a bug.. but this is from over a year ago.
    Specifically, Putting an external list on a publishing page renders correctly until you publish. Once you publish all you see is the "loading" green spinning icon.
    One proposed workaround was to  use a business list webpart, however I cannot override the jslink of a business data webpart. Any insight into a resolution would be appreciated!
    Also, clicking the "Enable Asyncronous Load" doesn't resolve the issue. It continues to remain unchecked when checking the box.

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you have an issue about the external list in publishing page.
    I can reproduce the issue in the SharePoint server 2013 without installing any CUs or PU.
    However, in another SharePoint server 2013 environment which installed the SP1, I add the external list in a publishing page, then publishing the page, the page renders the external list well without any issue.
    I recommend you install the SharePoint server 2013 SP1, then check whether it works.
    You can download the SP1 in here:

  • Published page different than edited draft

    OK, this one is very interesting! I've edited the page, it
    looks great in draft form. I publish it and suddenly one of the
    edited parts has a different type style and even an extra word that
    does NOT exist in the edited draft!! How is this
    possible????

    What is the web address of the published site so we can see what you are referring to?
    While waiting for that:
    A common reason why formatting on a published page will not match what you see in iWeb is that objects (pictures, movies, text boxes, etc.) are overlapping. When the web browser goes to try and interpret that overlap the results can vary (this can effect the display of fonts as well).
    Go to the page in question in iWeb and click on 1 object. Go to Edit > Select All.
    You will see all the objects on the page with their boundaries activated. Move any items that are overlapping so they have their own space around them.

  • Blank page shown instead of Open/Save As dialog box-CSV file download in IE

    I am migrating an application hosted earlier on Oracle 9iAS (9.0.3.1 BP1) to OracleAS 10g (10.1.3) with Struts 1.2.9. While the below JSP code worked for the earlier s/w stack when accessed using IE 5.5 SP2 or above, a blank page is displayed with the new s/w stack. What I mean by "worked earlier" is this. A "Open/Save As" dialog box would appear. Trying to "Open" would open a new IE window launching MS Excel and displaying correct data. Trying to "Save As" would display correct filename and extension in the dialog box.
    <%@page autoFlush="false" contentType="application/x-filler"%>
    <%
    try
    String fileName = "ABC.CSV";
    String strData = "A,B,C";
    response.setContentLength(strData.length());
    response.setHeader("Content-Type","application/octet-stream");
    response.setHeader("Content-Disposition","inline;filename="+fileName);
    ServletOutputStream ouputStream = response.getOutputStream();
    ouputStream.write(strData.getBytes(), 0, strData.getBytes().length);
    ouputStream.flush();
    ouputStream.close();
    catch(Exception e)
    %>
    I tried some changes listed below:
    1. Deliberately introduced compilation errors in the JSP code.
    2. Changed contentType="application/x-filler" to various MIME types like application/x-download, application/vnd.ms-excel, removing it altogether.
    3. Commented out response.setHeader("Content-Type","application/octet-stream") and also tried other MIME types related to CSV/Excel.
    4. Changed Content-Disposition from inline to attachment.
    Each of the above resulted in an unacceptable behaviour compared with the earlier state:
    1. Blank page shown as if nothing was happening even in case of deliberate incorrect JSP syntax.
    2. Dialog box did show up with some combinations. But on trying to "Open" or "Save As", the dialog box shows up a second time. Then while trying to "Open", the contents get opened either inline or in MS Excel but with some additional garbage data like source file name.jsp etc. While trying to "Save As" the file name and extension take on the pattern <URL_Pattern>.htm where URL_Pattern would be "DOWNLOAD_ACTION.do".
    Some other information:
    1. This code works when accessed from desktop local container (Win 2000) but not when deployed on Unix env (HP-UX B.11.11.0109).
    2. Latest patchsets are installed for IE.
    3. The existing application is designed to work for ONLY IE 5.5 SP2 or above, so I haven't tried with other browsers. I have tried both IE 5.5 SP2 and 6.0 SP1.
    Any help in this regard will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks a lot for your valuable time..

    I have made it to work with the below changes:
    1. Changed the URL pattern for <filter-mapping> for *.jsp to /*.jsp
    2. Added <dispatcher>REQUEST</dispatcher> and <dispatcher>FORWARD</dispatcher>
    3. Everything else (code-wise) is as before.
    Because of these changes, the filter, wherein some headers are being added to the response, is being invoked appropriately now.
    Thanks for you time and suggestion though...

  • Unable to Check In Publishing Page

    I am running into an issue with a custom page layout that I have created.  On this page layout I have a publishing html field, publishing image field, and a publishing summary links field.  The problem is when I check-in the publishing page
    as a draft the content in the publishing HTML fields does NOT save and redirects me to the root page in that web.
    I then checked the SharePoint ULS logs and found the following error.
    Time: 09/03/2010 11:47:20:18
    Process: w3wp.exe (0x1248)
    TID: 0x0C5C
    Area: CMS
    Category: Publishing Cache
    EventID: 98ee
    Level: High
    Description: Trying to store a checked out item (/EN-US/MEDICALPRODUCTS/PAGES/646.ASPX) in the object cache.  This may be because the checked out user is accessing the page, or it could be that the SharePoint system account has the item
    checked out.  To improve performance, you should set the portalsuperuseraccount property on the web application.  See the documentation for more information.
    I have tried to find more answers on the web but have been unsuccessful so far.  Has anybody seen this error before or got any possible ideas to try?  Thanks in advance for any help.
    Craig

    I am getting this same error in SharePoint Server 2013 when creating new publishing pages with a custom Page Layout created using Design Manager.  The page uses a custom Content Type isth a required column of "News Type" which I suspect is at the root.
    The workaround is to Check In the newly Created page before adding any content, then check it out again.  why you cannot check it in after adding any more information than the Name is a mystery.

  • Rich Text Editor functionality for a DIV tag in a publishing page in SharePoint online

    Hi,
    We are having a requirement where we need RTE behavior of SharePoint 2013 Rich Html Field for a custom DIV. The scenario goes like this:
    1. I have a publishing page
    2. I dropped the content editor web part and to that content editor web part I will point to an HTML file that needs to be rendered in that content editor web part
    3. I have one DIV in the above mentioned HTML files and I want that div to be editable and I need to RTE options for that DIV.
    How to accomplish the above behavior?

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to create html rich text editor for a DIV tag in a publishing page in SharePoint online.
    You can create your own Rich Text Editor.

  • Creating publishing page in specific folder and with custom page layout using JSOM

    Hi!
    I have a site collection under my root, in which I have a page library with a folder inside. I want to create a publishing page inside the folder using JSOM. The API provides the following information on the three possible ways of how you can create a publishing
    page.
    PublishingPageInformation with all defaults.
    PublishingPageInformation.Name and PublishingPageInformation.PageLayoutListItem.
    PublishingPageInformation.Name, PublishingPageInformation.PageLayoutListItem and PublishingPageInformation.Folder.
    Source - SP.Publishing.PublishingPageInformation Properties (sp.publishing)
    Since I want to create the page in a specific folder in the page library, I have to go for the last option.
    I have a function call chain that look as follows:
    getLanguageID(webUrl, languageID)
    .then(function(resolveVal) {
    language = resolveVal;
    return checkPageExist();
    .then(getEditorialNewsFolderJSOM)
    .then(getAssociatedPageLayoutListItem)
    .then(addPublishingPage)
    The first two methods,
    getEditorialNewsFolderJSOM
    getAssociatedPageLayoutListItem
    fetches the required data as SP.Folder- and SP.ListItem-objects.
    The problem occurs when
    addPublishingPage
    is called. This method, in turns calls this function.
    var pageInfo = new SP.Publishing.PublishingPageInformation();
    pageInfo.set_name(publishPage.title);
    pageInfo.set_pageLayoutListItem(pageLayoutListItem);
    pageInfo.set_folder(editorialNewsFolder);
    pageCreationContext.newPage = pubWeb.addPublishingPage(pageInfo);
    clientContext.load(pageCreationContext.newPage);
    clientContext.executeQueryAsync(function() {
    publishPage.isPageCheckOut = true;
    resolve();
    }, function(error) {
    reject(precio.intranet.resource.errCreateContent_addPublishPage);
    The error happens when this function is called with the page information object.
    SP.Publishing.PublishingWeb.addPublishingPage(pageInformation)
    Error:
    Cannot read property '$2t_0' of undefined
    and it happens in SP.Runtime.js.
    I've tried this
    sample code from the MSDN-team, and added the pagelayout and folder properties, but it renders the same error.
    Creating a page directly in the page library with a blank SP.PublishingPageInformation object works perfectly fine!
    What could possibly be wrong? The error isn't something that I can debug myself since it happens in SP.Runtime.js, and the documentation for this is very sparse!
    Any help on how to resolve this issue would be helpful!
