Publishing Functions working in local Schema

Hello,
I'm looking for a possibilty to write a function in schema a, which can be used in any other schema using local objects.
There has been an example in AskTom or ORACLEmagazine with TABCOUNT, a function where a tablename is given and the number of rows in this table is returned.
Does anyone remember where this example was published or how I can solve this problem.
Thanx,
Thomas

Hi,
You can search for AUTHID CURRENT_USER over Oracle Docs.
There are some peculiarities. But in general, that's the only line of code you should add to your procedure/function. Just find out (from the docs) were exactly you should add it.

  • Published files work on local site but not on remote site

the flash4 published set of files, with a variety of skins tried, works well on the local drive, even when moved to a different folder structure. when index.html is opened on the remote web site, the browser (firefox3 and ie7) displays the player conrols and a rotating horizontal barber pole, green and black, but no flash video.some of the skins i've used are: SkinOverPlaySeekFullscreen.swf, nOverPlayStopSeekCaptionVol.swf and SkinUnderPlay.swf. all work locally but do not play the .flv file on the web site. no problem playing flv movies on the remote web site if the file set is created by dreamweaver.
how should this flash newbee diagnose the problem? --david

The source for the video seems to be hardcoded to your local drive.  You will need to change this to a relative path, or hardcode it to the server location.
Here is the error my debugging player displayed:

  • Copy all tables and data from remote schema to local schema

    Hi,
I am using Oracle 10g Enterprise edition as a database and Windows 7 as the operating system.
My Requirement is to copy all the tables and data from remote machine database to my local machine.
I created a DB link between my location schema and remote machine schema. Database link created successful. Error what i am getting when i am trying to import all the tables from the remote data is as mentioned below
I created a directory gave all the privilege to do read and write on the directory.
    Directory name : DUMP
Local Schema name / PASSWORD : PRODUCTION / PRODUCTION
    Remote Schema name / Password : portal / m3892!2
When i run this scrip from command prompt
    impdp PRODUCTION/PRODUCTION DIRECTORY=DUMP LOGFILE=LOCALPROD_MERUPROD.log network_link=MERU_DEV_LOCAL_PROD schemas=portal remap_schema=portal:PRODUCTION TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION=REPLACE
It is giving me following error please suggest me what is the mistake i couldn't trace
    ORA-31631: privileges are required
ORA-39149: cannot link privileged user to non-privileged user
    Thanks
    Sudhir

Thanks I gave the grant permission for the "portal" remote user. I didn't not get the error. Issue am facing now is I need to copy the entire schema of production to my local system production.
I am currently using the below script to copy. it not working. what might be the reason there is no error message coming but still i don't see any tables in my local system after executing this script
    impdp PRODUCTION/PRODUCTION DIRECTORY=DUMP LOGFILE=LOCALPROD_MERUPROD.log network_link=MERU_DEV_LOCAL_PROD schemas=portal remap_schema=portal:PRODUCTION TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION=REPLACE
Or suggest me some other script to copy all the tables and procedure function from remote database to my local database using impdp script
    Thanks

  • Sql Developer - View source code of procedures, functions & packages in another schema

Our developers need the ability to view procedures, function, packages etc. in the production database (using SQL DEVELOPER).  They don't have access to sign on as the owner of these
objects in Production.  They must use their own limited access UserID for this purpose.
This limited access UserID has been granted select privilege on DBA_SOURCE & DBA_OBJECTS.  The developers need the ability to view the source of these object via
the tree view in SQL DEV.  They should be able to click on "other users" in the SQL DEV tree view and see a listing of the owner schema objects.  Then they should
be able to select the desired object and view the source code.  These developers are used to using GUI interfaces.  Selecting from DBA_SOURCE would not be an
    option for them.
I understand that if the limited user is granted SELECT ANY DICTIONARY or SELECT_CATALOG_ROLE then this functionality will work.  The problem is those
privileges/roles  provide much more access than should be granted to these limited access users. Granting DBA to these users is also not an option.
In TOAD and other end-user tools this functionality works when only select privilege on DBA_SOURCE & DBA_OBJECTS has been granted.  We need this same functionality
    in SQL DEV.
While searching this forum and the internet, I see that other installations have this same issue.
Please enhance SQL Developer with this functionality.
    Thank you, ellen

Just to double check that I'm interpreting the problem correctly, is the following true:
    select * from all_objects where object_name = 'DBA_SOURCE'
    returns nothing
select * from dba_source where name = your PL/SQL module
    returns all the code

  • Instant Search not working on local mailbox in Outlook 2007 on Windows Server 2008 R2 Terminal Server

Sometime last week Instant Search stopped working on a Terminal Server we have deployed. I don't use Outlook on the server so I didn't notice it myself but users started complaining several days ago. When I checked instant search settings everything was
grayed out. I noticed that the feature for Windows Search was disabled so I enabled that feature rebooted the server and now instant search is looking for email in archive folders and sharepoint lists. Local Mailbox mail however is not being indexed by instant
search. When I check data files it says that there is no file for the local mailbox. I checked and Cached Exchange Mode is disabled so no OST is being created and apparently there is no PST for it either.
Do I need an OST/PST to search the local mailbox?
Also I have added the Office GPO Templates and enabled the GPO for allowing Cached Exchange Mode but that doesn't seem to be helping either. Please help.

Have you had any luck with this?
One of our clients has reported that 5 different users, when RDP'd into 3 different RDS Servers, cannot use the Instant Search.
I haven't been able to find anything about this in my online searches.
Like you, the mailboxes aren't even appearing under Instant Search > Search Options.  Also, it would appear that there are no locally-hosted .ost/.pst's for any of the users on this server; can the instant search function work on a .pst that's saved
    somewhere else on the network?

  • Shared Review Publish function not available

I'm using Adobe Pro 9 (9.2.0) to create a Shared Review using a network folder.  I am able to create the file correctly and SOME people are able to use Acrobat Reader 9.2.0 to Publish comments.  The Publish function does not show up in Acrobat Reader 9.2.0 for many people and they are only able to save a copy.  This isn't really using the Shared Review function at all.
How can I enable the Publish function to work for everybody on the Shared Review file?

I found the solution and thought that I'd post it.  This question seems to come up, but never seems to get answered.  Here it is:
If you're having this problem with Adobe Pro, then update the following registry entry:
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\9.0\Workflows ] “bEnableWorkflowPart”=dword:00000000 to 1
If you're having this problem with Adobe Reader 9, then update the following registry entry:
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adobe Reader\9.0\Workflows ] “bEnableWorkflowPart”=dword:00000000 to 1
Hopefully, this will benefit somebody and save them hours of time and frustration chasing Forums that never get resolved.

  • Oracle.DataAccess.Client Package not recognized in local schema

I am facing a wierd scenario where in I am unable to fetch data from my local schema by calling a package within that. In the real environment, we have the actual production schema that runs on a default schema that has public synonyms defined for all objects in that schema ( tables, packages etc). My objective was to test in my own schema for testing out development activity.
I am using the ExecuteReader method in the format:
    ExecuteReader(conn, CommandType.StoredProcedure, "Package_name.Procedure_Name", paramBuilderOne.Array).
When I qualify the package name with the schema like: schema.package.ProcedureName, I am able to retrieve the data.
In otherwords things are working fine if I write the statement as:
    ExecuteReader(conn, CommandType.StoredProcedure, "Schema_name.Package_name.Procedure_Name", paramBuilderOne.Array)
However, I would want the Schema name to be implicit , in such a way that it is picked up depending on the user name provided in the connection string and the code can be independant of connection specifics.
What I have observed is that even though the package does exist in my schema, the system is actually referring to the default schema and looking for data in that schema.
    Any help appreciated.

I got the issue. It had to do with the parameters being passed in. One of the params being passed was a Long ( by mistake). Internally this was getting converted to a String data type. Converting the Parameter to Int32 resolved the issue.

  • Reference a function in a different schema over a database link?

I have a database link, DBL, that connects with user GENE/***. I want to select columns from table BOOKS in schema JOE using function UNIFIX, which is defined in schema BRAD. Can I do it?
I can select without the function:
    SELECT TITLE
    FROM JOE.BOOKS@DBL;
    I tried this syntax:
    SELECT BRAD.UNIFIX(TITLE)
    FROM JOE.BOOKS@DBL;
But Oracle gives me a ORA-00904. Is there any syntax that will allow me to reference the function in the linked database? Or do I need to define a view in the remote DB that includes the function?

    SELECT brad.unfix@dbl( title )
FROM joe.books@dblshould work. Assuming, of course, that the Gene user on the remote system has access both the the BOOKS table in the JOE schema and to the UNFIX function in the BRAD schema.

  • Sess_sh only works against local db

    We have a variety of machines running 8i (linux 8.1.5,nt 8.1.6,solaris 8.1.7). We're attempting to check that EJB functionality is working. On each machine, sess_sh works fine locally i.e. sess_sh -u <user> -p <password> -s sess_iiop://<machine>:2481:<sid>
But in no case, can sess_sh can connect to another machine. All machines are within the same subnet, no routers or firewalls in the way etc. Any ideas?

are you saying that a sess_sh on machine #1, (for example, an 8.1.5 machine) can't connect to machine # 2 rdbms (for example, an 8.1.6 or 8.1.7 rdbms) ??
if yes -- this is expected behavior.
i've been told the java/iiop libraries are not compatible between rdbms versions so they are not capable of talking to each other.
    try this out :
set up 2 machines with one rdbms version, let's call them "A" and "B".
set up 2 other machines with a second rdbms version, let's call them "C" and "D".
if the four machines are set up properly ...
    1. you should be able to talk with sess_sh between "A" and "B" in either direction.
    2. you should be able to talk with sess_sh between "C" and "D" in either direction ..
    but if i'm correct:
    3. you should NOT be able to talk with sess_sh between "A" and ("C" or "D") in either direction ..
    4. you should NOT be able to talk with sess_sh between "B" and ("C" or "D") in either direction ..
oracle developers .. please correct me if i'm wrong.
this is the behavior i've seen on my two pc lan with multiplr rdbms versions on the 2 different platforms.

  • Unable to get refresh-ahead functionality working

We are attempting to implement a cache with a refresh ahead so that the calling code never experience any latency due to a synchronous load from the cache loader that happens if requesting an object that has expired (so just standard refresh ahead as documented). I can't seem to get the configuration to recognize the refresh ahead setting at all - it behaves the same way regardless of whether or not the <refresh-ahead-factor> setting is included, and never does an asynchronous load. All the other settings in the configuration work as expected. I have included the configuration and what I expect the behaviour to be and what it currently is.
Is there anything else in other configuration files, etc that needs to set up to enable asynchronous loads via the refresh-ahead-factor? Note I have tried upping the worker threads via the thread-count in tangosol-coherence-override.xml (no difference).
One thing I couldn't seem to find in the documents is when the asynchronous load will occur. I assume it is near real time after a triggering 'get' after the refresh-ahead-factor, but if not that could explain the behaviour. Is there some setting that controls this, or does it happen as soon as a worker thread gets to it?
In my tests I am running a single cluster node on my local machine (version 3.3 Grid Edition in Development mode). Note the 20second expiry and .5 refresh-ahead factor is just for test purposes to see behaviour, in production it will be 12hours with a higher refresh factor such as .75.
Current behaviour (appears to be standard read-through and ignore the refresh-ahead-factor):
    - request for an object that does not exist in cache blocks the calling code until it is loaded and put into the cahce via the cache loader
    - request for an object that exists before the exiry period has passed (before 20 seconds since load in this configuration) since it was loaded returns the object from cache.
    - request for an object that exists after the exiry period has passed (after 20 seconds since load in this configuration) blocks the calling code until it is loaded and put into the cahce via the cache loader.
    - No requests ever appear to trigger asynchronous loads via the cache loader
Expected behaviour, given the .5 refresh-ahead-factor
    - request for an object that does not exist in cache blocks the calling code until it is loaded and put into the cahce via the cache loader (same as above)
    - request for an object that exists before the exiry period has passed (before 20 seconds since load in this configuration) since it was loaded returns the object from cache, and triggers an asynchronous reload of the object via the cache loader if requested after the refresh ahead factor. So in this example I would expect that if I requested an object out of the cache between 10 - 20 seconds after it was loaded, it would return it from cache immediately and trigger an asynchronous reload of this object via the cache loader.
    - request for an object that exists in cache but has not been requested during the 10-20second period blocks the calling code until it is loaded and put into the cahce via the cache loader.

    Hi Leonid,
Yes, it works as expected. refresh-ahead works approximately like this :
    public Object get(Object oKey) {
    Entry entry = getEntry();
    if (entry != null and entry is about to expire) {
    schedule refresh();
    return entry.getValue();
If you want to reload infrequently accessed entries you can do something like this (obviously this will not work if cache is size limited) :
    <?xml version="1.0"?>

  • Working with local files at c:\temp ...

    Hi!
My report is working with local files (this is a must). I know that i can't use such a report in a planned job in the background. Are there nevertheless any options for me starting this report regularly in an automatic way? ...Perhaps on a pc which is always logged/switched on?
    Thanks in advance!
    Best regards,
    Ingo

    Hi,
why didn't you check the sy-batch (test if it's a background job) ?
use the DIR_TEMP of the SAP server when it's a background job.
to get the physical directory you could use this kernel function :
CALL 'C_SAPGPARAM' ID 'NAME'  FIELD 'DIR_TEMP'
                         ID 'VALUE' FIELD searchpoints-dirname.
    (dirname is a CHAR 75)

  • We had migrated our servers from a domain to cloud. all the web applications working fine locally, but from outside they are accessible but on editing giving 404 with some request id.

    hi all,
recently we migrated our moss 2007 from a domain to cloud env. everything goes well and all the application working fine locally.
but when users are trying from outside first they get promt for basic auth, that is enabled, its fine. then servers serve first page smoothly. all the application browsing is fine. but when authorized users are trying to edit a web page and they click on
anything(save, submit for publication, publish) they get 404 with a request ID. another thing if they add a new page to app and then make any changes to that page then they are not getting any issue.
please help if any one resolved that kind of issue.
    thanks in advance.

  • "ORA-00902: invalid datatype" when trying to register local schema

I'm trying to register a local schema which uses/includes a global schema(s). I validated the schemas using XMLSpy.
Registering the global schema(s) was successful. Registering these global schemas was done under user "Generic". For local schemas, that use global schema, a new user is created, and the following script is executed.

Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
In the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports (not "Diagnostic and Usage Messages") for crash reports related to the crashed process. The report name starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot. I know the report is long. Please post all of it anyway.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.
