Put one query result in two newspaper style columns per page
I have a query that returns about 1000 rows of data but I only need to see 3 fields so on a page it only takes up a couple inches of space. I want to make the data wrap so it prints down the left side column then continues the list on the right hand side (like a newspaper article flows) I have no idea how to make it look like this:
ROWONE DATE ROWFOUR DATE
ROWTWO DATE ROWFIVE DATE
ROWTHREE DATE ROWSIX DATE
Page 1
ROWSEVEN DATE ROWNINE DATE
ROWEIGHT DATE ROWTEN DATE
Page 2
Any ideas?

Well, probably I'm not the best to give advice but it did work for me. I put a frame to fill the whole page, then the repeating frame in which I wanted my data, then added my columns to the repeating frame... edited the properties of the repeating frame to print down/across and it worked (though I had to resize the repeating frame to make it a bit smaller because I guess it has to be able to easily fit two wide before it'll print in the second column.)

How to use one query results in another query
hi,
in help.sap I have founded that using variable type replacement path I can use one query results in another query. It is wrote there that I have to choose query name results I want to get in variable definition but I do not know where.
How I can do this?
Result I want to get is:
In one query I have material prices in another material quantities. I want to calculate inventory value (price * quantity). Moreover prices are on plant level, quantities on storage type level. Plant is atribute of storage type.
Can I do this?
Regards,
AndrzejHi Andrzej,
please check out this thread: Set parameters values depending on other parameters
I had a discussion about query results as input for another query in there.
For creating a workbook, just click on the save button after you ran your query in the bex.

Displaying SQL Query results in rows instead of Columns
Hi,
I'm fairly new to Oracle so forgive me if this is a really stupid question.
I used Mysql for a while and if I wanted to display query results in rows instead of columns I could end the SQL command with '\G' instead of a semicolon.
This would give me output like...
Column_1: AAAA
Column_2: BBBB
Column_3: CCCC
Instead of the normal
Column_1 Column_2 Column_3
AAAAAA BBBBBBB CCCCCCC
Is there an equivalent in SQLPlus to the MySQL \G termination?
Thanks.
John> so forgive me if this is a really stupid question.
It is certainly not a stupid question, but pivoting is a very frequently asked and answered question:
[url http://forums.oracle.com/forums/search.jspa?threadID=&q=pivot&objID=f75&dateRange=all&userID=&numResults=15]http://forums.oracle.com/forums/search.jspa?threadID=&q=pivot&objID=f75&dateRange=all&userID=&numResults=15
In 11g you have special PIVOT and UNPIVOT functions.

Report error using landscape style, lines per page errors.
Hi
A Custom report(use character units in designer,11 X 8.5, stadard settings...) developed(reports 2.5 on apps 11), which was working fine previously using standard landscape. The report produces exactly 56 lines physically per page.
Now, in applications ,landscape print style is properties changed, number of rows changed from 66 to 57.
Now report gives error:
'M_XXXX_GRPFR' is not fully enclosed by its enclosing object 'Body'. M_XXXX_GRPFR is the outer most frame in my report layout.
(I tried increasing page size, etc, no use, same error)
Now, I don't understand why it is giving error, as, it prints only 56 physical lines per page when I see the output file generated.
Is that landscape is defined as 57 rows, but it is not exactly 57 physical lines? Because when I took out some stuff from report layout, which now produces only 45 physical lines, it is working fine.
But, I have all 57 phyiscal lines in the report that I want it to work, any suggestions?
Thanks
Rathan.
nullHi,
Try this, i might work for you.
<?for-each:Q1?>
Here, place KIT ITEM Data table
Below that:
<xsl:variable name="no_of_lines_per_page" select="number(30)"/>
<xsl:variable xdofo:ctx="incontext" name="invLines" select=".//Q2"/>
<?for-each:$invLines?><?if:(position()-1) mod $lpp=0?> <xsl:variable name="start" xdofo:ctx="incontext" select="position()"/>
[here KIT COMPONENTS tabel will start]
[In table first cell again start for-each group like below]
<?for-each:$invLines?><?if:position()>=$start and position()<$start+$lpp?> ---this is in table first cell
[in rest of cells, put your columns xml tags]
<?end if?><?end for-each?> - in last cell.
this is end of Q2 table.
After that put a page break
<xsl:if xdofo:ctx="inblock" test="$start+$lpp<=count($invLines)"><xsl:attribute name="break-before">page</xsl:attribute></xsl:if> -- page break outside the Q2 table.
Now close the invlines for-each group
<?end if?><?end for-each?>
Close the Q1 for-each group.
<?end for-each?> -
Put the query result of "EXECUTE IMMEDIATE" command in a local table
Hi all.
Is it possible to put the output of the "EXECUTE IMMEDIATE" command in a local table so that the ouput can be accessed through other procedures.
Regards,
AndilaHi Andila, well you could just make your dynamic sql statement an insert statement based on your select. See example below
create column table test_table_1
"COL1" nvarchar(10),
"COL2" nvarchar(10)
CREATE PROCEDURE INSERT_P()
LANGUAGE SQLSCRIPT AS
sql_string NVARCHAR(2000) := '';
BEGIN
sql_string := 'insert into test_table_1 (select ''val1'', ''val2'' from dummy) ';
EXECUTE IMMEDIATE (:sql_string);
END;
call insert_p();
select * from test_table_1;
However you may want to investigate other options instead of using dynamic SQL as this is not a recommended approach. Less optimized compared to standard sql.

I have turned on my I phone this morning and it is asking for a pass code I have never used one and cannot get past the page can anyone help?
You won't get a reply on your email here. These forums are for users who want to help other users.
If you didn't buy your iPhone in your own country and you unlocked it to work in any way, you're out of luck. If you accidentally setup a passcode check out this old discussion:

How to use a jdbc query result to redirect to a variable html page
uh, my problem is that i'm making a servlet which should redirect to a variable html page based on jdbc query (I'm really sorry if this is not the correct forum to post it, but since it's jdbc i thought it was).
Anyway, the problem is that when a string say, "mystring" is equal to the value in a column, say "column1" of the database then page should redirect to "mystring.html".
Is this possible, if so then how?
and if not then is there any other way to solve my problem?
please, help!!
thanks in advance.uh, since i've already asked man, please gimme an answer if you know, it'll be appreciated.
OK, HERE'RE THE DETAILS:(as you requested them)
i have an html page where there's a textfield say "t1", the value of that text field is sent to the servlet which compares the value of the field with the value in Database, say "db1" in column say "column1".
if there's a value in the column matching the value inputted in the textfield, then i need the servlet to redirect to an html page of the same name as inputted in the textfield. Hope that helps you understand.....
thanks in advance....... -
Twin results coming out of one query
I have a dynamic table set up, and I want days to expiration
in last column. I have it set up now as follows...
<td>
<cfset DaysToExpire = (#rsFeaturedList.FeatureExpire# -
NOW())>
<cfoutput>#NumberFormat(DaysToExpire,(99.9))#
</cfoutput>
</td>
The numbers it spits out are correct however, on the first
data line, it spits out twin numbers (i.e. it looks like '7.1 7.1')
then all subsequent rows are showing correct (i.e. 12). Any ideas
why this is happening to just the first row? I checked to see if my
database has two sets of dates in it, and that's not the case. I'm
confused. Also note that I can only use ( ) around the mask because
square brackets [ ] are generating an error. Thanks!
Chrislooks like your code has an error. like a nested cfoutput
block or
something like that.
post the full code (complete code for showing all query
results, not
just the last column in one row).
also, the numberformat() mask should be in ", like "99.9",
not in ( ) or
[ ]. the [ ] in the examples denote that the parameter is
optional, not
that it should be in square brackets...

How can i write two ?DDL in one query
how can i write two ?DDL statment in one query?
Issuing two DDL statements requires two edxecutions. Getting around it is possible by creating a procedure that issues the two DDL statements. But they would still have to be issues one at a time, but you would only have to write one statement to invoke it.

Hi guys, I ve got a small question:
In one of my pages, i ve got a query. Is it possible to create a pop up window to that query, so that when the user clicks on the detail in my query results(e.g in the column 'Name' the user clicks on some name ('Tsveti' for example) of the query results ), the pop up window to show up, with all the info for the current detail(data row).
I know how to call a pop up window to a button, but how can i call it from a row in my query?
Thanks in advance
Tsveti:)Hi Tsveti,
You need to wrap the Name field in something that has an onClick event. What you use is up to you, but an example would be to use an HTML Expression for the field and enter something like:
<div onclick="myfunction('#ID_FIELD#')>#NAME_FIELD#</div>
#ID_FIELD# would be the field that contains the unique ID for the record and #NAME_FIELD# would be whatever you want to display in the column.
myfunction() would be the name of the javascript function that you use to call the popup. This javascript code would receive the ID value passed to it and pass this to the page being loaded by the popup. You would just need to insert this into the appropriate place in the url string.

Display dynamic query result in collection
How to we put the query results in collection for a dynamic query?
Do you want to display or to store or do both.
Anyway try a check at this:
http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=584195&messageID=2991930#2991930
I think if u do the reverse process you will be able to retrieve the values from the list and display them.
Try giving a thought. -
I have a requirement to put the query result in a file(.csv),
Pls let me know is there a possibility to achieve this using dbms_output package
Thanks859486 wrote:
I have a requirement to put the query result in a file(.csv),
Pls let me know is there a possibility to achieve this using dbms_output packageNo. The DBMS_OUTPUT package is almost ALWAYS the wrong package to use. It is the most misunderstood and most frequently abused piece of PL/SQL software. So no - it is not suited in anyway to spool CSV output. In fact, trying it with a large SQLdataset can crash the Oracle server - as memory will be exhausted and the swap daemons will trash CPU utilisation.
To read or write a physical o/s file - the typical package used is UTL_FILE. It is fairly easy using UTL_FILE to create a CSV file.
However, there could be far better alternatives. The CSV file may be needed by a web client - in which case the file can be created as a CLOB and provided as a Mime text/csv data stream to a web browser (which usually will automatically open in Excel).
The CSV file may need to be delivered via e-mail. In which case, the CSV file contents can be delivered via UTL_SMTP to a mail server as an e-mail attachment.
The CSV file may be needed to be delivered to a remote server. In which case the CSV file can be created as a CLOB and this CLOB can be ftp'ed via PL/SQL to the remote server as a text file.
So there are many options in creating and delivering a CSV file. Using DBMS_OUTPUT though is not a sensible option - ever. -
Returning query results in XML format
Besides using custom tag library, does anyone know any methods or techniques that i can retrive the query results from database in XML format. for example, i have a table named student in database like this:
StudentNo Name Gender Degree
123 Tony male B.Comp.Sci.
456 Tom male B.Fiance
343 Mary female B.Accountingso, if i have query select * from table student, i would get someting like the following:
<row>
<studentNo>123</studentNo>
<name>Tony</name>
<Gender>male</Gender>
<Degree>B.Comp.Sci</Degree>
</row>
<row>
<studentNo>456</studentNo>
<name>Tom</name>
<Gender>male</Gender>
<Degree>B.Finace</Degree>
</row>
The reason i am asking for this is i need query results returned in XML format, so i can wrap XSLT tag around, and apply for HTML, WML, and XHTML template resprectively so i can display them on different terminals. any help is appreciated.I have this method in a ResultSetMapper class:
* Return result sets as an XML stream, with root tag named
* "results", one "result" tag per row, and "result" child tag
* names equal to the column name
* @param query result set
* @param list of column names to include in the result map
* @throws SQLException if the query fails
* @throws JDOMException if the XML stream creation fails
public static final Document toJDOM(ResultSet rs, List wantedColumnNames)
throws SQLException, JDOMException
Element rows = new Element("results");
int numWantedColumns = wantedColumnNames.size();
while (rs.next())
Element row = new Element("result");
for (int i = 0; i < numWantedColumns; ++i)
String columnName = (String)wantedColumnNames.get(i);
Object value = rs.getObject(columnName);
row.addContent(new Element(columnName).setText(value.toString()));
rows.addContent(row);
return new Document(rows);
}It uses JDOM from www.jdom.org. - MOD -
Two different results using one query
Hi Friends
Oracle version that I am using is : Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.2.0 - 64bit Production
With the Partitioning, OLAP and Data Mining options
I have a scenario where one account can be related to two customers. Hence, in table have many rows for one account. Here’s the sample data:
