Qosmio G30 - External monitor interference when AC plugged-in

Hi there,
With the ac adapter plugged in, i get serious interferance on my external monitor (samsung Syncmaster 226bw). As soon as I remove the AC adapter it disappears.
The weird thing is my colleague here has the exact same setup in the office next door and experiences no problems at all. only difference is he is running linux whilst i am still on XP
I have tried different monitor cables, switched AC adapters with my colleague but to no avail.
Any suggestions or ideas you may have will be much appreciated.
Thanks

It doesn't matter wether you have installed Linux or Windows operating system.
Maybe you could try to use for your notebook, or monitor a ompletely single wall socket.
Another thing is, check if your colleague's notebook behaves as yours on your place connected to the monitor.

  • Extern monitor only when connected?

hi, i have a big problem, i have a macbook pro 3,1 running arch with nvidia driver, and i have an extern monitior, which i want to use, if plugged in on dvi.
i want to use the extern monitor only, no macbook screen, i know i can enable the monitor with nvidia-settings, but when i shutdown, disconnect the monitor, and for example have a journey with the train, then my macbook cannot be used, because the configured screen is the extern monitor, and the macbook screen is black. no hotplugging here
if theres no clean solution for this problem, maybe there is a cmd to switch to external monitor only, which i can enter manually every time i need the extern screen, and after reboot it switches back to macbook screen?
i hope someone can help me....
    regards chief

You can try something like this in your .xinitrc
    xrandr | grep DVI | grep " connected "
    if [ $? -eq 0 ]; then
    xrandr --output LVDS1 --off
    xrandr --output DVI --auto

  • I have a one year old Macbook Air 13.  I have a brand new 22" external monitor.  When I connect my  external monitor it initially provides a nice display - very accurate and  no distortions.  But, within a few minutes the screen begins a incessant series

I have a one year old Macbook Air 13.  I have a brand new 22" external monitor.  In turning the Macbook and monitor on, the monitor displays very well, but within a few minutes it begins this incessant blinking (temporary black out of the screen that lasts anywhere from 1-5 seconds).  This has been going on for a long time (it also happended with my older monitor which apparantly I threw out when I should have kept it thinking it was the problem).  From reading various blogs in the Apple support community, this appears to be a widespread problem, but I don't find a solution, only a lot of speculation.  I'm very surprised the Apple folks haven't figured this out.   As a new Apple user, heretofor, I have been very impressed with the support and effort to get fixes out to users.  This, however, has me frustrated to the point of junking my Mac and going back to a PC.  I love the Macbook Air and most of the functionality, but I cannot function without an external monitor. Anybody have any ideas, please help.  Frustrated, Jim

Your dsplay is getting extended onto the external monitor. Chcnage the setting to duplicate it or only display on the external monitor and you should be fine,
Let me know if this worked for you.

    Hi Martin
First of all its interesting if you have downloaded and installed all Toshiba Vista drivers which are released on the Toshiba European driver page?
All drivers must be installed in the right order!
If I'm not mistaken the Qosmio G30-126 belongs to the PQG32E series. It was delivered with HD DVD drive and therefore you should choose the drivers for Qosmio G30 HD DVD (PQG32E)!!!
Please check firstly the Installation Instructions txt file and then install all drivers like mentioned in this document.
    Regarding the display issue;
You should install the right NVIDIA driver from the Toshiba page!!
The FN keys and control buttons dont work because the Toshiba Vista Value Added Package was not installed. This package contains different applications which are necessary to get all Toshiba functions running!
    Good luck

  • External monitor flickers when waking up from sleep

I use an external monitor with my new MacBook. All works well, but I have noticed that if I start using the external after the screen has gone to sleep, I sometimes get a problem on the external where the screen flickers and breaks up. If I disconnect and reconnect the Mini DisplayPort then the problem resolves, has anyone else seen this?
    Tony

I have the same issue with my new macbook.
When i wake the computer from a partial sleep the screen flickers and i get line distortion through the image.
If i put the machine to sleep unplug the mini dvi adapter and replug it in and wake the computer up the problem disappears.
The issue is also intermittent doing about 3 times out of every 10 wake ups...
If anyone has any suggestions it would be great, I a using a new Dell 2208WFP monitor.

  • External monitor flashes when scrolling large Photoshop images

    Hello,
My external monitor is flashing when I scroll around large Photoshop files. I'm assuming it the graphics processor switching modes. I've got a brand new Macbook Pro 2.66 i7 17" computer and am using a 23" Cinema HD Display (clear bezel) with the Apple ADC to DVI adapter.
How can I get this to stop?
    Thanks for the help,
    Cyril

According to Apple with an external monitor connected only the nvidia card is used. So it's not changing graphics cards. I would think it's more a driver issue or the usual blinking screen fault of nvidia (timing issue). Send in a report to Apple describing the fault.
One other thing to check is your cables, from what i gather from your post you have a chain adc-dvi-mdp rattle them, and clean them with spray to take away oxides.

  • External monitor flickers when scroll on the google stock chart in Safari

Well, this sounds crazy but this is what is happening to my Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013 Macbook Pro.
    I can reproduce it.
    1. Go to this page in Safari (Version 7.1 (9537.85.10.17.1)): https://www.google.com/finance?q=LQD&ei=nQQ_VPj1H4ebrAHP6oDYDQ
    2. Scroll the page (not the chart)
    3. My external monitor starts to flicker.
I use mini display port to DVI to connect to my ASUS VE278.
    Any idea? Thanks in advance!

    Hi Ziang Song,
Welcome to the Apple Support Community!
I know it can be concerning when your external display is flickering and not functioning as you would expect. In this situation I recommend the troubleshooting steps outlined in the attached article.

  • External monitor stutters when playing movies and moving windows

I've got a 15' MBP, 2.53 GHz, 4 GB, hooked up to an Acer 22" external monitor via the DVI connection.
When the external monitor is connected I experience a stuttering problem with both displays, where there's a hesitation in the output every second or two. Movies stutter, and windows hesitate when being moved around.
This was going on in Leopard, and continues in Snow Leopard. The problem goes away if I'm not using the external monitor. It occurs regardless of which internal graphics chip I'm using.
It's very frustrating, needless to say.

    Hello Mendeezee,
Depending on the age of the monitor, you may not be able to playback any HD content that is purchased in iTunes. One way to check is to download the SD version that comes with the HD version. Check out the articles below for more clarification.
iTunes for Windows: Unable to view or play HD video content that requires HDCP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3354
iTunes: Purchasing and viewing HD videos
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3209
In iTunes for Windows, in order to view HD content, both the display hardware (computer screen, LCD, external monitor, and so on) and video card driver must support HDCP.
Note: Depending on your computer's hardware limitations, you may be unable to purchase, rent, or view HD content from the iTunes Store. If you are trying to view HD video on an external display, the display must have a digital connection (DVI, DisplayPort, or HDMI) and support HDCP.

  • Qosmio G30-153 Too slow when installing

    Hello people,
My Qosmio G30-153 is taking too long to install normal software/programs. For instance, it took me more than 3 hours to install Office XP! - It's ridiculous. Also it stucks at the first 4 "bars" when I try to install Macromedia Dreamweaver 8. It stucks on the "Copying new files". Please what can I do to fix this problem? - Does anyone has this sort of a problem?
Should I send it for service?
Right now I'm installing dreamweaver 8 and it's installing it 9 hours now. It's at the half process. It's WAY too fraustrating! Does anyone know how to fix this?
    Message was edited by: Vasilias

    Hi Vasilias
Thats unbelievable! You need 9 hours to install a simple web design application!
This is very strange and I would firstly say there must be a hardware malfunction
But did you install any 3rd applications? How about the CPU usage?? Open the task manager and check if there are any strange background processes running on the notebook
Did you check the system for some malware software?
Did you defragment the HDD? Please start also the "chkdsk" for HDD checking

  • Qosmio G30 - external screen via HDMI connection - bad resolution

Hi! This problem is driving me crazy, please help if you can...
I have just bought a G30-102 and I'm trying to use it with an external screen via the HDMI connection. The problem I'm having is that the native resolution of 1920x1200 cuts off the edges of the desktop and the quality looks terrible - its almost like the whole screen is zoomed in. I tried this with a BenQ FP241wz at first (which is 1080i 1920x1200) and the Toshiba helpline couldn't find a solution either - even after painfully reinstalling all of the drivers etc.
Its been going on for so long, I thought that I would try it out with my HDTV instead, just to be sure it wasn't a monitor issue. So I tried it with my Toshiba 32WLT66 - and have just found that it has exactly the same problem.
All of the display settings appear to be correct and the G30 is convinced that the output is correct, so the question I have now is - do you think that its a problem with my HDMI port?
Please help, I'm a designer and it is essential that I use the machine on a large screen. If this is a problem with the G30 hardware I need to talk to Toshiba immediately about replacing or fixing it.

Hi - thanks for the reply!
My BIOS doesn't allow me to choose much for the display - just between PAL and NTSC really.`As for the document, thanks for the link - unfortunately though there wasn't anything in it that I haven't already tried.
What would be the most obvious thing that could be wrong? Faulty port? Faulty card? Or could it even be as simple as a faulty HDMI lead?

  • Qosmio G30-194: No sound when watching TV

I have an G30-194. Tv-tuner finds the TV programs from my area but they have no souns at all. It's select the country ROMANIA, also the corect system Pal/Secam but no result. Can anyone know what it's the problem.
    Thx a lot.

    Hi
Can you hear the sound when playing music from CD or mp3 files?
If the sound is coming from the speakers during listening to the music, its not a sound card problem. In such case in my opinion the wrong settings are responsible for this issue.
You have several options with PAL/Secam settings. I think you should check what settings are available in the Romania.
I received some information about the TV tuner driver update. Please check the version on your notebook and maybe you need to update the TV tuner driver.

  • External Monitor Static When Waking From Sleep

Hello community, did anyone had the disrcibed problem and knows about it?
After waking up from hibernation, display is static an doesn't work on; getting of from thunderbolt and put in after a little bit of time doesn't help.

To everyone experiencing the frustrating "static on display when resuming from sleep", I think I finally got the solution to resolve the problem. Since the most recent versions of OSX are using "TV resolution" to configure digital displays (such as 1080p, 720p...) I thought maybe my mac was trying to "talk" with my displays in a "TV language" so I went in my SyncMaster's display setup and changed a few settings to fix the "miscommunication" between my mac and the displays. Surprise! After many months of frustration, it finally fixed the problem!
Here's what I changed in the SyncMaster's setup menu:
Under "SIZE & POSITION" menu, go to "Image Size" and set to "Screen Fit"
Under "SETUP & RESET" menu (down on the second page with my model), go to "Auto Source" and set to "Manual"
Finally, still under the same "SETUP & RESET" menu page, go to "PC/AV Mode" and set to "AV"
Bingo! Now when the computer wakes up from sleep, the screens are going back on like a charm!
Hope this will help people who had the same issue using MacPro with Samsung SyncMaster displays, worked for me anyways!...
    Cheers!

  • How can I sync iPhone 3GS with my Windows 7 PC, when iTunes does not appear on monitor screen when I plug the iPhone into the computer?

How can I ync iPhone 3Gs with my Windows 7 PC, when iTunes does not launch when I connect the iPhone to my computer? Note: My computer crashed and I am reinstalling everything.

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your phone. Only if you back up your phone manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
    Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your device without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPhone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in iTunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

  • External Monitor plugs in, then goes dark?

    Hello-
I have an early-2008 15" MacBook Pro. I purchased it in June of 2008.
The issue I am having is when I am using an external-monitor as a second display. I use a DVI->VGA converter for my external monitor. When I plug it in, my notebook will recognize the external display, it will format the resolution and all, and it will even show the extension-desktop on the external. However, after about two seconds, the external will return back to black (although it does NOT display "no input" like it would if it was turned on with nothing plugged into it).
    Any suggestions?
    I really appreciate it.

  • I dropped my macbook pro and the screen is broken can i still use it with an external monitor? Or can I or how do I transfer hard drive files to my mac mini?

I dropped my 17" macbook pro and the screen is broken. Can I still use it with an external monitor? When I plugged it into a monitor I had used it with before, I'm not able to see anything on the macbook screen to control it. It came on but I just got the blue screen with nothing else after typing in my password. (Didn't see the password form just assumed it was there somewhere and it did go from space to blue screen but no desktop icons, files, dock strip at top or anything else, just blank blue screen) so I can't access the system preferences.
Or can I / or how do I, transfer hard drive files to my mac mini? If not salvageable as is can I pull out the hard drive and make it an external harddrive? In otherwords is anything salvageable? It seems it's coming on I just can't access anything. BTW I was told it would cost aprox $1000 to replace the screen! I paid almost $4000 for this thing and it was running great - makes me sick to lose it!

I'd like to promise you that everything will be fine if you just get the monitor going - but it's hard to know what the hardware damage might be. It might be the monitor, or the damage might be greater.
Your best solution would be visit your local Apple Store and let them know what your situation is. They have access to diagnostics you don't, and they might be able to the best way to save your data and keep you computing. It's still not covered, but they can tell you what your current options are.
Um, you might consider investing in a backup drive.
And there other repair options, too. Powerbook Medic http://www.powerbookmedic.com/xcart1/pages.php?pageid=67 offers reliable repairs, and quotes prices well under Apple's.
