Qtcurve-qt4

I'm a big fan of the qtcurve apps for theming gtk and qt apps. It was irritating that qt4 apps were the odd balls since I don't run kde4, so I decided to alter the qtcurve-kde4 pkgbuild so it doesn't need kdebase-workspace as a dependency. It was only a few edits so I decided not to submit to aur. Anyway it worked out great for theming qt4 apps the same as qt3 and gtk apps. Just thought I'd share.

As Tribly said it would have to manage / fix the package yourself as they are no longer maintained by either the official repos or the AUR. Another possibility would be to uninstall them if you don't need them.

    I'm also using kdemod-core and qtcurve just vanished from the styles-section, but not from the win-deco-section.
    Compiling qtcurve 0.65.3 with the following PKGBUILD did the trick     (based on qtcurve-qt4 from AUR: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=22064)

  • How does QtCurve get colors to stay the same? Somehow doesn't w/o KDE.

    Basically, the one on the left is qtcurve-qt4 + qtcurve-gtk2 and the one on the right is qtcurve-kde4 + qtcurve-gtk2. I can't figure out what QtCurve is writing to some gtkrc file in order to allow this color synching. Does anyone else use qtcurve-qt4 + qtcurve-gtk2 and get something similar or is there something that I need edit in my gtkrc file in order to have the qtcurve-gtk2 match the qtcurve-qt4 without having to install qtcurve-kde4? (note: I am currently using gnome-color-chooser to adjust my colors. Without it, Qtcurve would be in a blinding white and blue color scheme)

    I have just had a quick read. You may not have had much corrupted before you started playing but unfortunately you may have introduced a few extra problems.
    You don't appear to have done the thing I would do first: delete the password entry in Keychain for any non-working service - they can get corrupted resulting in silly error messages.
    I have checked for the latest Gmail settings and put them below. I advise that you use these with SSL for both incoming and outgoing email.
    Standard Gmail configuration instructions:
    Incoming Mail (POP3) Server - requires SSL:
    pop.gmail.com
    Use SSL: Yes
    Port: 995
    Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - requires TLS or SSL:
    smtp.gmail.com
    Use Authentication: Yes
    Port for TLS/STARTTLS: 587
    Port for SSL: 465
    Server timeouts
    Greater than 1 minute, we recommend 5
    Full Name or Display Name:
    [your name]
    Account Name or User Name:
    your full email address (including @gmail.com or @your_domain.com)
    Email Address:
    your email address ([email protected] or username@your_domain.com)
    Password:
    your Gmail password
    I would get the accounts working first before trying to move any further items in ~/Library/Mail
    Once things are working you could try copying individual .mbox folders from a working computer to the problem one. Quit both Mail applications first.
    I use POP on multiple computers and often use one to restore another. I Bcc all outgoing email to myself so all computers have all outgoing messages. I keep messages on the server for 122 days (4months) - slightly tedious to set this on Mail but it can be easily set to a month. I mainly use Thunderbird without any folders except the Archive ones so it is very easy to maintain the same structure on all computers.
    You can always download everything on the server again by deleting MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded.

    Are you going to give me a list of all of the packages you upgraded? Is it a secret? It's easiest to just post your pacman log.
    When did you upgrade? The "lxqt" packages in the AUR haven't been updated for a few weeks now...
    There were new updated lxqt packages today.

  • LXDE hangs with window theme Qt4 - can someone confirm

    Could someone confirm the following problem before I file a bug report? You need lxde and Qt installed.
    1. start lxde
    2. open lxappearance
    3. as Window Theme select Qt4, then apply
    4. exit lxde
    5. start again
    It should then hang with a blacklighted screen.
    Window themes Raleigh and QtCurve are OK.

    Works fine for me. Using lxde, compiz, emerald.
    (just found your post, as I was searching after noticing rounding of menu background corners isn't transparent e.g. in chromium, lxde menu)

  • [phonon-qt4-gstreamer] Why pulseaudio is a mandatory dependency ?

    I discover that pulseaudio is now a mandatory dependency for the 4.8.0.1 version of phonon-qt4-gstreamer package,
    https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extr … gstreamer/
    but I don't want to use pulseaudio, I use alsa for the sound, the previous version of phonon-qt4-gstreamer doesn't need pulseaudio,
    so why this change ?
    is it a mistake from the maintener ?
    the other phonon backend ( phonon-qt4-vlc ) doesn't need of pulseaudio, so it should be the same for phonon-qt4-gstreamer,
    some people have problems with pulseaudio ( bugs ), so this change will bring problems if pulseaudio is installed when we want to install phonon-qt4-gstreamer 4.8.0.1

    https://projects.archlinux.org/svntogit … e29f00c8f6
     If you want to, try installing it while ignoring the pulseaudio dependency, but leave libpulse in place.

  • Qtcurve-kde3 issues with gtk2 apps

    updating from qtcurve ver 0.68.1-1 to qtcurve ver 1.0 prevents gtk2 (or these that use qtcurve theme) apps from starting
    I narrowed problem to qtcurve-kde3
    after installing latest qtcurve, apps (firefox, openoffice, thunderbird) generate the following error:
    1) firefox 3.6-2
    QSettings::sync: filename is null/empty
    QSettings::sync: filename is null/empty
    firefox: symbol lookup error: /opt/kde/lib/kde3/plugins/styles/qtcurve.so: undefined symbol: _ZN13KStandardDirs7makeDirERK7QStringi
    2) openoffice-base-devel 3.3_dev300_m70-1
    ** (soffice:30956): WARNING **: unable to get gail version number
    /usr/lib/openoffice-dev/program/soffice-dev.bin: symbol lookup error: /opt/kde/lib/kde3/plugins/styles/qtcurve.so: undefined symbol: _ZN13KStandardDirs7makeDirERK7QStringi
    without qtcurve, gtk2 apps start but look awful, with qtcurve 0.68.1-1 apps srart and look fine.
    My system
    Arch i686 up-to-date
    kdemod 4.3 up-to-date
    I tried to build qtcurve 1.0 from abs but this tid not help at all.
    I assume that I am the only one with this problem (have not seen any complaints), any suggestions?
    thanks

    Besides setting the qtcurve style in qtconfig, are you also selecting and configuring qtcurve in the kde controle center under appearence & themes - style?
    I don't spend much time using kde anymore, but after checking a few kde and gtk apps it seems fine here.

  • [UNSOLVED] qt4-gnome-globalmenu-git

    I am trying to compile a plugin that should make gnome-globalmenu work with qt apps. It should be fairly simple, the source tree only holds 3 files. I am however, sadly so incompetent that I can't work out what to do with my own improvised PKGBUILD to make it compile:
    #Maintainer Anders Honoré <b9anders AT gmail DOT com>
    pkgname=qt4-gnome-globalmenu-git
    pkgver=20111022
    pkgrel=1
    pkgdesc="An extention to make the menus for QT apps show on the Gnome global menu bar."
    url="https://gitorious.org/firefox-gnome-globalmenu/qt4-gnome-globalmenu"
    license="GPL"
    arch=('i686' 'x86_64')
    depends=('gnome-globalmenu-xfce4' 'qt-appmenu' 'appmenu-qt')
    makedepends=('git' 'qt-private-headers')
    _gitroot='git://gitorious.org/firefox-gnome-globalmenu/qt4-gnome-globalmenu.git'
    _gitname='qt4-gnome-globalmenu'
    optdepends=()
    options=()
    conflicts=()
    provides=('qt4-gnome-globalmenu-git')
    replaces=()
    install=
    source=()
    md5sums=()
    build() {
    cd $startdir/src
    msg "Connecting to GIT server...."
    if [ -d $startdir/src/$_gitname ] ; then
    cd $_gitname && git pull origin
    msg "The local files are updated."
    else
    git clone $_gitroot
    cd $_gitname
    fi
    msg "GIT checkout done or server timeout"
    qmake
    make
    package() {
    make DESTDIR=$pkgdir PREFIX=/usr install
    Obviously something is missing at the end of it here, but I don't know enough about compiling stuff to say what.

    thanks for replying. I added the following to the end of the PKGBUILD above:
    msg "GIT checkout done or server timeout"
    qmake
    make
    package() {
    make DESTDIR=$pkgdir PREFIX=/usr install
    And changed the dependencies after pursuing some error messages:
    depends=('gnome-globalmenu-xfce4' 'qt-appmenu' 'appmenu-qt')
    makedepends=('git' 'qt-private-headers')
    and ran makepkg -s (I updated the PKGBUILD in the OP to reflect the changes). The output is more than before but it doesn't get very far before exiting:
    g++ -c -m64 -pipe -march=x86-64 -mtune=generic -O2 -pipe -fstack-protector --param=ssp-buffer-size=4 -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 -Wall -W -D_REENTRANT -fPIC -DQT_NO_DEBUG -DQT_PLUGIN -DQT_XML_LIB -DQT_GUI_LIB -DQT_CORE_LIB -DQT_SHARED -I/usr/share/qt/mkspecs/linux-g++-64 -I. -I/usr/include/QtCore -I/usr/include/QtGui -I/usr/include/QtXml -I/usr/include -I. -o qx11menubarimpl.o qx11menubarimpl.cpp

    make: *** [qx11menubarimpl.o] Error 1
    The only hits google recognises for "QtGui/private/qabstractplatformmenubar_p.h"  are for a package Fedora names 'libqt4-private-dev' and Ubuntu's 'qt-devel-private'. From what I can it tell, qt-private-headers should be the corresponding package in Arch (and is included in the dependencies for that reason) but I can find no trace of the missing file in my system after having installed it.
    Kinda stuck from here. :-/

  • [SOLVED] VirtualBox 2.0 is still ugly, even with Qt4...

    Does anybody know why VirtualBox refuses to use the native Qt widget style?  I was hoping the problem lied with Qt3, but it remains in VirtualBox 2.0 - which uses Qt4.  In case I'm the only one suffering from this bug, I've included a screenshot:
    Edit: I might should add, I'm using KDEMod4.

    buttons wrote:
    All right, well the problem is the Arch version lets VirtualBox use its own version of Qt4, which it's bundled with.
    rm /opt/virtualbox/libVBoxQtGui.so.4
    rm /opt/virtualbox/libVBoxQtCore.so.4
    ln -s /usr/lib/libQtGui.so.4 /opt/virtualbox/libVBoxQtGui.so.4
    ln -s /usr/lib/libQtCore.so.4 /opt/virtualbox/libVBoxQtCore.so.4
    Assuming you have the latest qt installed as of the time of this writing, this will work.
    However, for those of us using QGtkStyle, as someone mentioned, this is the message we get:
    Qt WARNING:
    This process is currently running setuid or getgid.
    GTK+ does not allow this therefore Qt cannot use the GTK+ integration.
    Try launching your app using 'gksudo',
    'kdesude' or a similar tool.
    See http://www.gtk.org/setuid.html for more information.
    I haven't tried this yet...
    Thanks for the help getting this working!
    I just wanted to point out to those who encounter the same thing I did...  I am using Kde 4.1.1 and I used the .run file from the VirtualBox website to upgrade from my existing 1.6.6.
    I had to follow the directions above but replace the folder "virtualbox" with "VirtualBox-2.0.0" so it looks like this:
    rm /opt/VirtualBox-2.0.0/libVBoxQtGui.so.4
    rm /opt/VirtualBox-2.0.0/libVBoxQtCore.so.4
    ln -s /usr/lib/libQtGui.so.4 /opt/VirtualBox-2.0.0/libVBoxQtCore.so.4
    ln -s /usr/lib/libQtGui.so.4 /opt/VirtualBox-2.0.0/libVBoxQtGui.so.4
    THEN it worked like a charm!

  • QtCurve: is there a way to influence widget sizes?

    Hi,
    By and lagre, QtCurve is the most popular Qt/GTK theme, and for a good reason: it's a working solution . The widgets are just a shade too big to my taste, though, especially on 1280x800 resolution. Krusader Fx buttons waste way too much screen estate; meanwhile, I can't help but remember nicely and rationally themed KDEmod3 Krusader . Is there a way to improve the situation?

    Qt supports a CSS like theming syntax. Never really got into that, so i dont know this will work for you, but you should check it out:

    The antesis mirror is garbage.  Please remove it from your /etc/pacman.d/ files.
    As for qt4, I'd guess your mirrors just aren't updated.

  • Install Qt3 next to Qt4 for compiling moto4lin?

    Hello,
    I tried to install moto4lin and p2kmoto to connect my old Motorola V3i to my computer. p2kmoto runs now but moto4lin fails because qapplication.h is missing:
       main.cpp:21:26: fatal error: qapplication.h: No such file or directory
         #include <qapplication.h>
       compilation terminated.
    The instructions for installation say that Qt 3.3.3 is required. My version of Qt is 5.3.1. Is it possible to install qt3 next to qt4? I read the installation instructions and I have to change some symlinks and I am a bit frightend to break everything, because Qt is very important.
    I'd prefer if someone knows a better way how I could connect my phone. But it does not show up as a device when I use lsblk so I was sure that I need a driver, that is nessecarily old because the phone is old.

    If you want to install qt3, you can install it from the aur. Just look it up there. The package will be aptly named "qt3".

  • [SOLVED] Problem witch qt4 , KDE and startx

    Hi!
    With the recent update of qt4 i had a problem to start X session.
    First, i update all with pacman -Syu (qt4 to 4.8.4-11), and then update only qt4 to 4.8.4-12.
    A few hours i have a problem to start KDE and show me a message:
    Could not start d-bus. Can you call qdbus?
    After trying to use the following command:
    xinit steam -- :1
    and to my surprise, run KDE without problems, but with xinitrc exec startkde and startx it continues equal

    gnome-session, startkde and startxfce4 will start a D-Bus session automatically if one is not already running. The skeleton file for ~/.xinitrc (/etc/skel/.xinitrc) will do the same. Make sure that your ~/.xinitrc is based on the skeleton file /etc/skel/.xinitrc.
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/D-Bus
    So...
    $ cat /etc/skel/.xinitrc
    #!/bin/sh
    # ~/.xinitrc
    # Executed by startx (run your window manager from here)
    if [ -d /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d ]; then
    for f in /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d/*; do
    [ -x "$f" ] && . "$f"
    done
    unset f
    fi
    # exec gnome-session
    # exec startkde
    # exec startxfce4
    # ...or the Window Manager of your choice
    ... because ...
    $ ls /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d/
    30-dbus 40-libcanberra-gtk-module xdg-user-dirs
    That's why dbus is not started.
    EDIT:
    As a side note: I strongly suggest using KDM in your case. You can create a session file only for steam and switch to a seperate session with only steam from inside KDE. This will also stop KDE from running, when all you want is steam.

  • Kdemod3: qt vs qtcurve

    Hello,
    In kdemod3, for GTK themes, gtk-qt integrates into the default theme much better than qtcurve does. However, openoffice 3 does have the invisible toolbar problem with gtk-qt, so I am forced to use qtcurve to use OOo. In qtcurve, Firefox and Thunderbird have font issues; it doesn't obey the GTK font you can set in kcontrol (OOo obeys the font, so does every other GTK application that I've encountered so far). My Firefox and Thunderbird default to an incredibly large font; I don't mind the pasty white ugliness of qtcurve too much, but the huge fonts in my toolbar really bother me. Does anybody know a workaround to have qtcurve obey font settings (or to make OOo cool with gtk-qt)?
    Thanks in advance

    future stir-fry wrote:Just in kcontrol. I will try one of those out, thanks for the suggestion.
    I recognize problems with qtcurve if gtk-qt is installed too. So i give it a test and remove it. Normaly you need only one file in your home ".gtkrc-2.0". For an example here is mine:
    include "/usr/share/themes/QtCurve/gtk-2.0/gtkrc"
    style "user-font" {
    font_name = "DejaVu Sans 9"
    widget_class "*" style "user-font"
    gtk-font-name="DejaVu Sans 9"
    include "/home/arpad/.gtkrc.mine"
    gtk-icon-theme-name = "MyOxygen"
    The icon theme is the one from kde-look.org with the only difference that it stays in /usr/share/icons instead of /opt/kde/share/icons.
    After this run qtconfig, /opt/bin/qt/config and optional switch in your java apps to the gtk-look. Than there is no need to touch this configs and you can do all what you want in the settings of qtcurve.
    Days ago i give this style for qtcurve http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.ph … tent=97393 a try and in all apps i have nearly the same look instead this style have realy another look. So my personal result is if you want qtcurve remove the other one and another important point is to delete the gtkrc config file in ~/.kde/env if you have one.
