Queries to retrieve records (using Coldfusion) into arrays

I have been reading about Coldfusion and Flex/Flash Builder integration, I am quite the beginner here. So far, I was able to follow the examples I found at Adobe's website. Those tutorials show how to bind the query results into forms. What I want to do is to run a query that will return multiple records, and I would like to store those records in an array. In other words I want to access each of the elements of each object by iterating
Here is an example (I am only putting the relevant part of the code here) of what I could achieve with binding so far
            protected function dataGrid_creationCompleteHandler(event:FlexEvent):void
                getEmployeeDataByRegionResult.token = salesTarget.getEmployeeDataByRegion(/*Enter value(s) for */ 'Central');
          <s:CallResponder id="getEmployeeDataByRegionResult"/>
    <mx:DataGrid x="477" y="118" id="dataGrid" creationComplete="dataGrid_creationCompleteHandler(event)" dataProvider="{getEmployeeDataByRegionResult.lastResult}">
        <mx:columns>
            <mx:DataGridColumn headerText="PHONE" dataField="PHONE"/>
            <mx:DataGridColumn headerText="FIRSTNAME" dataField="FIRSTNAME"/>
            <mx:DataGridColumn headerText="YTD" dataField="YTD"/>
            <mx:DataGridColumn headerText="Q1GOAL" dataField="Q1GOAL"/>
            <mx:DataGridColumn headerText="EMAIL" dataField="EMAIL"/>
            <mx:DataGridColumn headerText="LASTNAME" dataField="LASTNAME"/>
        </mx:columns>
    </mx:DataGrid>
So instead of this, I basically want to load the results into an array, so that I can iterate through the records as I want. A mysql query in php type of query is exactly what I am looking for. For example
$result = mysql_query("SELECT id, name FROM mytable WHERE .... ");
while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result, MYSQL_NUM)) {
    printf("ID: %s  Name: %s", $row[0], $row[1]);
Thank you

  • Retrieving records using SQL Date Queries

    Hello,
    I am using Lab Windows CVI 8.5 and also SQL TOolkit for my project. I am using DBMapColumnToChar function for mapping Date to the database. And for retrieving records I am using SQL Query as follows:
    SELECT * FROM DBTable WHERE DATE_TABLE BETWEEN '%s' AND '%s'",cCurrentDate,cCurrentDate
    I have given a drop down for selecting dates.
    When I execute the query I am not getting the selected date values an instead I am getting some records for which the dates aren't selected...
    Quick help needed for this..Thanks in advance

    Depending on the database, the date/time structure can be completely different from the structure in CVI.  CVI uses the Windows format for time(), that is the number of seconds since 1900.  The tm struct can break this apart into a date and time structure that is usable.
    I am using MS Access for the databases and SQL toolkit.  I finally ended up replace the date field with an INT field format, and then store the CVI time (gotten with time()) as an INT value.
    Easy then to get a search range, store it a tm struct and then convert with mktime() to a calendar time to search with.
    Hope this helps.  The date/time thing is a never ending struggle.
    Regards, David E.

  • Problem inserting record using INSERT INTO

    I am an amateur web builder using some ColdFusion functionality to access information on an Access database. I know very little about ColdFusion syntax, but I'm using Dreamweaver CS3 to help generate most of the code. I'm working on an insert record page to create a user database with login information. I'm not sure what the problem is, but I'm getting a syntax error referencing this particular portion of the code:
    Syntax error in INSERT INTO statement.
    The error occurred in C:\ColdFusion9\wwwroot\Everett\register.cfm: line 22
    Below is the entire page with line 22 (referenced in the error message) in red. Any ideas?

    Syntax error in INSERT INTO statement.  INSERT INTO Users ([First Name], [Last Name], [Email Address], Password)
    That oh-so-uninformative error is because "Password" is a reserved word with your database driver.  Either escape it by putting square brackets around it too, or rename the column permanently. It is best to avoid using reserved words whenever possible. So renaming the column is the better option.  Also, I would try and avoid using invalid characters like spaces in column names ie "First Name". It is technically allowed, but it requires special handling everywhere which adds unecessary complexity.
    I'm not sure what the problem is, but I'm getting a syntax error referencing this particular portion of the code:
    Do not take the error line numbers as gospel. Sometimes they just indicate that the error is within the vincinty of that line.
    I'm using Dreamweaver CS3 to help generate most of the code
    Unforutnately, DW wizards generate some truly awful and verbose code.  To give you an idea, here is what the query should look like, without all the wizard nonsense.

    CF is pretty easy to learn. You might want to begin perusing the CF documentation and a few tutorials to get more familiar with the language. Since you are working with a database, I would also recommend a  SQL tutorial.

  • Retrieving records using Thread

    I am a newbie in Java Servlet programming. I want to retrieve some records from my db2 database every 5 minutes and then display the result for viewing.
    I have no idea where should I put my html tags. Assuming that my program only have 2 methods which are the doPost method and runningThread method, should I put the tags within the doPost method or inside the running thread?
    Example or tutorial are good in term of understanding for a beginner.
    Thanks in advanced for any help.

    You don't need to use threads to do it. If it is just updated response that you need, you can achieve it by setting headers appropriately for autorefresh.
    In your doPost method , call
    response.setIntHeader("Refresh", 300) the browser re-requests the page after 300 seconds
    Then you can pull the new data and display.

    Hi,

    While using this class I am getting an error Null Pointer Exception, when there are no records matching the search criteriea.
    Could anybody tell me how to ignore this error.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply.
        There is no any class which automatically handles, so we should handle exceptions individually.
    Thanks,
    Priya.

  • Retrive records using ODATA with SQL functions

    Hi,
    I want to use SQL functions (for instance replace function) while retrieving records using ODATA endpoint using javascript. Like this:
    parent.SDK.REST.retrieveMultipleRecords(
    "$select=AccountId,Name,Telephone1&$filter=" + "replace(Telephone1,'-','') eq '12345678'",
    function (accountresults) {
    errorHandler,
    function () {
    But this is ending up with 404 bad request. Is there any way to achieve the same using any other technique?
    blog: <a href="http://technologynotesforyou.wordpress.com">http://technologynotesforyou.wordpress.com</a> | skype: ali.net.pk

    ODATA only supports simple comparison operators, and startswith, endswith and substringof. There are 2 approaches you could use without modifying the data:
    Have a less selective filter in ODATA, then filter the rest of the data in javascript. In this example, you could use ODATA to find all records where the telephone1 field has each of '1', '2', '3' etc, then use javascript to do the replace comparison. It
    depends how many records you have as to whether this is practical
    Write a plugin on RetrieveMultiple that applies the functions you want. This is not necessarily simple, and you'd need to determine how you identify in the query that you want to use a function like replace
    Another option could be to use a plugin when data is saved to strip out the characters you don't want, and store the results in a different field that you could then query on

  • Inserting record using form does not work. Please Help

    I am trying to insert a record using INSERT INTO command in a form followed by commit.
    I put the command in when-button-press trigger( I use a button to initiate insert into table command).
    But it does insert the record into the table.
    Then I try to ignore the INSERT INTO command and only use COMMIT, and it works.
    But when I use control block, I can not use commit only to insert into table.
    Is there anything that I have missed ?
    PLease help. I had tried to solve this fora week.
    Thank you, I really appreciate any response.

    Setting your block as a datablock with source as a specified table and a number of items connected to specified columns gives you direct access to your table. Thus your commit alone will work. The second you change this to a control block, you cut your connection to the table. Thus you must use an insert into statement followed by a commit. By the way, when you use a commit statement, it processes exactly like a commit_form inbuilt function.
    Hope this helps,

  • How to record sound into array using DAQ ?

    Hi to everyone
    Im last year student , im using LABVIEW for the first time.
    i have an myDAQ , i need to record audio go through the analog ports/AUDIO INPUT of the myDAQ, into array, for later singal proccesing.
    its for my final project.

    First, Learn to use LabVIEW with myDAQ is a series of videos.  To quote the Introduction,
    The Learn to LabVIEW with MyDAQ provides fundamental LabVIEW knowledge for a great out of the box experience with your MyDAQ. Each unit provides a set of videos to allow you to learn at your own pace and review material an unlimited number of times. As well, most videos are accompanied by minor exercises which will help drive home important topics and challenge you along the way.
    View the videos, do the exercises, and I suspect many of your questions will be answered.  If you write some LabVIEW code and have a problem, come back, show us your code, and explain the problem.

  • Splitting and type casting huge string into arrays

    Hello,
    I'm developing an application which is supposed to read measurement files. Files contain I16 and SGL data which is type casted into string. I16 data is data from analog input and SGL is from CAN-bus data in channel form. CAN and analog data is recorded using same scan rate.
    For example, if we have 6 analog channels and 2 CAN channels string will be (A represents analog and C represents CAN):
    A1 A2 A3 A4 A5 A6 C1 C2 A1 A2 A3 A4 A5 A6 C1 C2 A1 A2 .... and so on
    Anyway, I have problems reading this data fast enough into arrays. Most obvious solution to me was to use shift registers and split string in for loop. I created a for loop with two inner for loops. Number of scans to read from string is wired to N terminal of the outermost loop. Shift register is initialized with string read from file.
    First of the inner loops reads analog input data. Number of analog channels is wired to its N terminal. It's using split string to read 2 bytes at a time and then type casts data to I16. Rest of the string is wired to shift register. When every I16 channel from scan is read, rest of the string is passed to shift register of the second for loop.
    Second loop is for reading CAN channels. It's similar to first loop except data is read 4 bytes at a time and type casted to SGL. When every CAN channel from scan is read, rest of the string is passed to shift register of the outermost loop. Outputs of type cast functions are tunneled out of loops to produce 2D arrays.
    This way reading about 500 KB of data can take for example tens of seconds depending on PC and number of channels. That's way too long as we want to read several megabytes at a time.
    I created also an example with one inner loop and all data is type casted to I16. That is extremely fast when compared to two inner loops!
    Then I also made a test with two inner loops where I replaced shift register and split string with string subset. That's also faster than two inner loops + shift register, but still not fast enough. Any improvement ideas are highly appreciated. Shift register example attached (LV 7.1)
    Thanks in advance,
    Jakke Palonen

    OK, there is clearly room for improvement. I did some timing and my two above suggestions are already about 100x faster than yours. A few teeaks led to a version that is now over 500x faster than the original code.
    A few timings on my rather slow computer (1GHz PIII Laptop) are shown on the front panel. For example with 10000 scans (~160kB data as 6+2) my new fastest version (Reshape II) takes 14 ms versus the original 7200ms! It can do 100000 scans (1.6MB data) in under 200 ms and 1000000 scans (15MB data) in under 2 seconds.
    I am sure the code could be further improved. I recommend the Reshape II algoritm. It is fastest and can deal with variable channel counts. Modify as needed.
    Attached is a LabVIEW 7.1 version of the benchmarking code, containing all algorithms. I have verified that all algorithms produce the same result (with the limitation that the cluster version only works for 6*I16+2*SGL data, of course). Remember that the reshape function is extremely efficient, because it does not move the data in memory. I have some ideas for further improvements, but this should get you going.

  • Trigger a process when a record is inserted into database

    Hi, could someone tell me how to do the following (if it's possible):
    when a record is inserted into a table in a database,
    I want it to somehow trigger an action which will put an item into user's To-Do inBox of the WorkSpace,
    the user can then open the form in the To-Do and use it to view the data in the newly inserted record.
    this "user"'s login ID is part of the inserted record.
    thanks

    Mmm, trigger?  I don't know of a way.
    But I supposed you could have a process that has a timer that peroidically queries the database for changes and then do the same thing.
    You could also perhaps write a Service and then use the Java API to start a process?
    Maybe take a look here

  • Retrieving record from oracle DB very slow..pls help

    Hi, i'm writing a VB code to retrieving records from Oracle DB Server version 8. I'm using VB Adodb to retrieve the records from various tables. Unfortunately one of the table are very slow to response, the table only contain around 204900 records. The SQL Statement to retrieve the records is a simple SQL Statement that contain WHERE clause only. Any issue that will make the retrieving time become slow? Is that a Indexing? Oracle Driver? Hardware Spec? Or any solution for me to improve the performance. Thanks!

    Well, there are a few things to consider...
    First, can you try executing your query via SQL*Plus? If there are database tuning problems, your query will be slow no matter where you run it.
    Second, are you retrieving significantly more rows in this query than in your other queries? It can take a significant amount of time to retrieve records to the client, even if it's quick to select them.

  • Question: How to remove prompt in recording using MMAPI

    Hi,
    we have been developing a softphone using j2me. Our goal is to record voice (using j2me) into a byte array and deliver that as a packet either through bluetooth or wifi. We need to capture voice at a certain interval, stop the capture, deliver, and then capture the voice again.
    The problem is this. Everytime i call on record, the phone prompts if i indeed want to record using the MMAPI. I think that this is a security feature but is there any way to bypass it?

  • Need efficient queries to retrieve reports inside a folder

    Case 1:
    To retrieve reports in a particular folder -
    I am currently using 2 queries -
    a) retrieving parentid given a folder name
    b) retrieving all reports given the above parent id.
    Can I combine these into 1 query ?
    Case 2:
    I also need to retrieve all reports within a given folder and subfolder. Can this be done with 1 query?
    or do I need to retrieve all objects in the folder and then iterate in a loop
    if folder exists and retrieve the reports.

    Hi Jam
    For Case1:  To retrieve Crystal reports in a particular folder, the following query should work.
    Select COUNT (SI_ID) From CI_INFOOBJECTS where SI_KIND = 'CrystalReport' and SI_PARENT_FOLDER = 22826 and SI_INSTANCE = 0
    Hope this helps.
