Query builder 10g

Hi Friends,
I want to teach end users make their own reports using QUERY BUILDER 10g.
Where do I download this software? Is this stand alone?
Thanks a lot

Hi,
the Query Builder as stand alone product is not part of the product any longer.
If you search a small product wo build queries and export the results to excel, have a look at the SQL Developer: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/sql_developer/index.html
You don't need an Oracle Home for SQL Developer.

It is no problem, you can automatically change the complete query before the report is running, which delivers you different kind of values. But the alias names does not change in the group of the data-model, although two query are running with different alias names at different times. In the data model you see the alias names of the first implemented select statement, which are the column fields in the layout.

  • Query Builder (Express Edition 10g) is not working in Google Chrome

Google Chrome is not properly displaying table in SQL Query Builder (Oracle Database Express 10g).
It is not possible to select all fields of given table because not all fields are displayed and I can't go down to select last field.
In Mozilla Firefox this is possible. In Google Chrome table bar is not displayed.

Upgrade to APEX 4.0 - it should work then properly also in Google Chrome.

  • Query Builder in 10g Developer Suite

I am accustomed to using previous versions of Oracle developer (2000,6 i...), and there was "Query Builder", which is very useful for us, especially when we do statistics and complex Reports.
Now the Staff has chosen 10g Developer Suite that unfortunately there was no "Query Builder". Is it someone can help me find such a tool like it(query Builder) in Oracle 10g.
I saw an almost similar to Oracle SQL Developer but can not totally replace the "query Builder "I didn't find for example a way to insert a calculated field in the Query of Oracle SQL Developer, it's like SQL PLus, and the same case with Toad.

    hi,
you can use Oracle application express tool, its a application development tool, but it contain query builder, try youy best.

  • Migrating from Query Builder to Discoverer 10g

Can any one suggest that is there any ways that end user can edit/modify the query as they can do it in query Builder, with out editing worksheets.
Currently the queries were created by File->Import Sql option and granted access to users. Is there any provision for end users to change the query according to their needs and use it with out affecting other users?.

    Hi
No this is not possible. Discoverer is a GUI tool and that is the way you have to edit the query. Having altered the GUI then Discoverer will rewrite the SQL.
Most end users don't have a clue about SQL in the first place. The whole point of having a GUI front end to ad-hoc query tool is that users don't need to know SQL to build a query. The EUL further means the users don't need to know how the database is put together.
People who use Discoverer to point directly at the database tables are missing the point of the EUL. The users of those systems are also missing out on the full functionality of the tool. This is why you don't manually edit the SQL behind a Discoverer worksheet.
    Best wishes

  • Dynamic Order By on Report Builder 10g

    Hi,
How can I do a dynamic order by clause using user parameters on Report Builder 10g? I need to set dynamically the column and the direction on the clause.
    Thanks.
    Bruno Galletti
    Brazil.

    Hi Bruno / Rainer,
I am implementing the same solution, and after adding the lexical parameter reference in the SQL statement and calling the report from Oracle Forms the report failed with the following error on the report server:
    Terminated with error: <br>REP-300: missing expression select wcsr_no , wcsr_date , wcsr_rec_week_zone , wcsr_loc_house_num || ' ' || wcsr_loc_pre_dir || ' ' || wcsr_loc_street_name || ' ' || wcsr_loc_street_type || ' ' || wcsr_loc_post_dir || ' ' || wcsr_loc_unit || ' ' || wcsr_loc_city || ' ' || wcsr ==>
No change has been done to the SQL statement except adding the &p_orderby parameter at the end of the query.
Any suggestions? Are all parameters defined as "bind" parameters on the Repotr Object Navigator.?
    Thanks

  • Can not open PLLs on Forms Builder 10g

    Hi Folks,
everytime I try to open an existing PLL-File via the Forms Builder FileOpen-Dialog I have got the message

Note that the file exists and I select it from the Filelist!

While converting from 6i to 10g it is unavoidable to convert forms and libraries, so please help me!
PS: I can recompile forms with attached libraries if the PLX-Files (6i) are available, but the forms will not work with these PLX-Files.
    edited by ths:
I tried to generate a new library. This works fine until I saved it. After naming the library and pressing the save button in the dialog the pll file was created and the same error message appears.
I closed form builder and tried to reopen the library: same error.
I generated another new library and save this by selecting the first new I generated. Jippee! I get the message that the file already exists! I selected "overwrite" and the file was overwritten. After that the same error appears.
How can I (re)open PLL files? It is no solution to generate a new library overwriting the old one everytime some changes should made.
Trying to build the library (Ctrl+T) produces another error:
FRM-91507: Internal Error: Unable to generate library.
    Compiling (Ctrl-Shift-K) works fine.

    Hi Mark,
there's no user except of me on the pc and server (I'm working via rdp-client on a virtual server), no server and no oc4j task or instance started. The one and only program that runs is forms builder. The error occurs if I just try to open a pll file via the file open dialog of forms builder.
With my admins we found that forms builder creates a (temporary) file (e.g. s22o without extension with 827392 bytes) in c:\ but only if I'm the actual user. After I'm getting the permission to create and update files on c:\ forms builder was able to open pll files. Now we're trying to find out why this accurs only on my login. With other users we tried these file was created on F:\ which is the personal drive of the user. I'm only wondering about the fact that temporary files were not created in the TEMP folder defined by the TMP or TEMP environment variable.
So we solved this unusual problem in an unusual way.

  • Oracle Forms Builder 10g Questions

    Good day everyone,
I want to start off by saying that I'm very new to Oracle Forms Builder (it was dumped on my table about a month ago) and I'm having some issues I need resolved in order to complete a project for a client.
I'm looking mainly for documentation or resources that will show me how to do the following in Oracle Forms Builder 10g:
    * Use either the ENTER button or mouse click to navigate between mandatory fields in a form (currently only TAB works)
    * Populate a field[s] after pressing a search button based on a SQL query
    * Populate a field[s] on launch based on a SQL query
    * Throw a warning message if an SQL query returns with a specific result
    * Populate a drop down menu based on a SQL query (ie only show valid options to user)
    * Remove static highlighting (fields should only be highlighted if necessary, which is never on this particular form)

I've been able to reduce my problem down to the fact that Oracle Forms Builder 10g is not configured correctly on my machine for my environment. I can seem to get Oracle Forms Builder to see my libraries. When I load the form I'm working on I get the following error:
FRM-18108: Failed to load the following objects.
    Source Module:utlf_gui
    Source Object: TOOLBAR_MDI
+... (many more of the one above)+
I press ok and get the following error:
FRM-10102: Cannot attach PL/SQL library sdsl. This library attachment will be lost if the module is saved.
+... (many more of the one above)+
From my various searches on the internet I've learned that this is because Oracle Forms Developer can not find the listed PL/SQL libraries and I should check my Environmental variables. I've set up two Environmental variables with the following:
Forms_Path = C:\<project path>\Lib\   (This is the folder in the project folder where all the PL/SQL libraries are stored)
Forms90_Path = C:\<project path>\Lib\   (This is the folder in the project folder where all the PL/SQL libraries are stored)
I created both Environmental variables because there wasn't any consistency on the sites I was checking to which was needed.
Also if I try to attack a PL/SQL library I get the following error:
Attached library name <name> contains a non-portable directory specification. Remove path?
I press yes or no and get the following error:
PDE-PLI038 Cannot open file for use as a PL/SQL library.
    Any help is much appreciated.

  • How to use Query Builder in Oracle10g

Since I'm new to Oracle , thus I'm facing some problem in some portions. When I went through the Query Builder option, actually I was not able to build the query as some of the features present in it were not clear to me like the "Condition" part and if I need to perform some join in it, how would that part work on it.
Please reply and help me out. Thanks.
    Regards,
    Praveen Rai

Query Builder is level 8.0, it's part of desupported developer 6i. Installation media has an online manual, which answers your questions. You should consider an alternative like SQLDeveloper. Query Builder may still work with 10g, but no guarantee.

  • SQL Developer replacement for Query Builder?

Our developers use query builder to quickly develop sql code w/conditions, joins, where clauses, etc. I just installed release 2 of SQL Developer and am trying to figure out if this is a viable replacement for query builder. Is there a graphical "query builder" component as part of SQL Developer?

Barry, I would agree that it should be clean and easy to use. I started using Data Browser 2.0 and migrated to Query Builder 6.0.7.1.0 and while Query Builder is no longer it's own product it's integrated into Reports Developer 10g. The basic layout and operation has been consistent thru the life cycle and I would think you'd keep the "look and feel" consistent with what's currently available. (might simplify integrating it too). My biggest complaint with Query Builder 6.0.7 (se don't use the 10g version) is that it errors when opening a schema with more than 8192 objects. As an E-Business Suite 11.5.10 customer this is an issue for our developers when logging in as the standard APPS user.
So here would be my "wish list"
    1. consistent look and feel with "older" versions of Browser/Query Builder
    2. removal of 8192 object limitation
    3. ability to open older .brw format files
Certainly more improvements would be possible by integrating with SQL Developer and would be welcomed - this wish list is coming from a user who has MANY .brw files in the older 6.0.7 format.

  • Query Builder within SQL Developer 2.1 versus Query Builder Version 6.0.7.1

    Dear all,
    dear Sue Harper,
we use Oracle 10g (upgrade to 11g is planed) and used the Oracle Query Builder Version 6.0.7.1 by now unless we got to know about the SQL Developer 2.1 including the Query Builder a few weeks ago to produce our SQL statements an efficient way.
Even tho the SQL Developer 2.1 Query Builder already has some nice features, like sorting the data fields ascending, export to excel, etc, that the Oracle Query Builder Version 6.0.7.1 did not have had, we miss some essential features, like the in-statement, define column, etc while on the other side tables are not included in SQL-code unless fields are selected or i.e. date fields cannot be queried in the where conditions.
I read the release notes and know that the SQL Developer 2.1 Query Builder is scheduled for rewrite in the next release.
Does it make any sense to summarized all things we noticed and get in touch with whomever it may concern?
Btw, if it would be possible to define a location for the stored connections within the SQL Developer 2.1 it would be very helpful... When starting SQL Developer 2.1 in our Windows Vista network environment it never finds the connection settings (file) automatically and we have to re-import the connections from a pre-defined directory.
Nevertheless, the SQL Developer 2.1 is a pretty user-friendly and most times reliable tool we are thankful for.
    Kind regards,
    Stefan Wagner

    @user12092220
Yep, I saw your post; sorry for not replying, but i thought it's pretty the same problem i have. ;)
The missing possibility to query date-fields in the where clause is really one of a many things i miss in the SQL Dev Query Builder, i am sure you use an "in" statement as well as we do. I think going back to the manual creation of the where condition like we had in Version 6.0.7.1.0 should be okay with most users, at least additional to the current solution as long as the rest of the query can be built within the graphic user interface. Further to save and open a query in gui mode is really, really important for us. Not to mention that the boxes for the tables cannot be stretched over a certain extend and i cant separate the columns any longer :/
Other than that, SQL Developer is a pretty nice tool in my eyes, it's free and hopefully Version 3.0 will be closer to what we would like the SQL Developer to be like.

  • Query Builder results seem to max out at 500 lines.  How to change?

    Hi all,
Some of out Application Express users are using the Query Builder tool for ad-hoc reporting. The idea is to run the SQL to extract the data, then download to MS Excel. The Query Builder results seem to max out at 500 lines. I want to increase that value. I searched all Application Express forums for 'query builder output max 500' and then 'query builder output' and did not find the answer.
How do I change the 500 line limit in Query Builder results?
    Thanks!

  • Query Build - witch cube does measures comes from?

    Hello!
It is not possible to see witch cube a measure comes from in the Query Build. I have several measures with the same name but from different Cubes / Analytic Workspaces.
If I change the Label, then the measure will have that name in the report – this I do not want.

  • Simple Question About Using "Group by" Inside the Oracle XE Query Builder

    Hi,
I am a new user of Oracle 10g XE and I have built and populated some tables. I am trying to create a view (make a query) via using the Query Builder. I have chosen two attributes, say course_section_ID and trainer_ID in the same table. I choose the "COUNT" function for course_section_no and I check the box for "Group By" with trainer_ID. (I would like to count the number course sections each trainer is teaching). Then I "run" the query and the same error message appears:
    fail to parse SQL query:
    ORA-00904: "COURSE_SECTION"."TRAINER_ID": invalid identifier
Both attribute names should be valid (as shown above).
If I only choose course_section_ID and do a COUNT on it, it gives the same error message on course_section_no.
I did try to do the same thing with the demo HR database. There were no problems with counting a field nor with grouping on a field with HR.
    PLEASE HELP!
    Thanks.

I have got it. When all the attribute names are in the uppercase, then I can do aggregate functions and "group by" with the GUI.
