Query date problem

hi experts,
i have start date & end date in query and difference of the days
must in that query for  that what i have to do
i have to calculated key fig r formula
i think normally we will assign date field as char  right
if yes, what is the condition  & how to choose to fields i.e date either char or key fig
pl give clear idea
thanks in advance
venu

Hi,
Here you have to include both date charactestics as a part of rows(including in Rows part of query designer), you can use 2 formula variables to get No of days in the report.
1) Create a formula variable with
processing as 'Replacement path'
Caharacterstic = 'Date 1'
Replacement variable with = 'Key'
Dimesion id = 'date'.
2) Create a formula variable with
processing as 'Replacement path'
Caharacterstic = 'Date 2'
Replacement variable with = 'Key'
Dimesion id = 'date'.
3) use the above two formula variables in a formula of the query as difference.

  • Select Query Date Problem?

    Hi,
    I using 10g and here is my sample query which brings nothing. I know there are records in the database. It must be related with my date conversions.
    SELECT a.gm_cd, a.draw_cd, NVL(b.cpns, 0) cpns, NVL(b.clms, 0) clms, NVL(b.amn, 0) amn FROM (SELECT gm_cd,draw_cd,TO_DATE(draw_tm, 'DD/MM/YYYY') draw_tm FROM draw WHERE gm_cd = 10105 AND TO_DATE(draw_tm, 'DD/MM/YYYY') = TO_DATE(sysdate-1, 'DD/MM/YYYY') ) a, ( SELECT SUM (DECODE (a.from_draw, a.to_draw, a.cpns * b.sing_ind, 0)) cpns, SUM (a.clms* b.sing_ind) clms, SUM (a.amn* b.sing_ind) amn FROM draw_sales a, ACC_TYPE b WHERE a.tp = b.cd AND a.DT = TO_DATE(sysdate-1, 'DD/MM/YYYY') AND a.gm_cd = 10105 ) b ORDER BY a.gm_cd, a.draw_cd
    Any ideas?
    By the way, draw_tm is a DATE column (11/05/2013 03:59:59) and DT is also a DATE column (10/05/2013)

If you're trying to remove any time component from it, then you should use TRUNC(draw_tm).
    Likewise with sysdate, you should use TRUNC to truncate it. Never use TO_DATE on DATA datatypes otherwise you cause an implicit conversion to varchar2 which will depend on your NLS settings and can fail.

  • Problem during the setting the query data source name in forms 6i

    We are now doing assignments in forms 6i actually there is a problem during setting the query data source name in run time.
    The problem is
    declare
    v_query varchar2(200),
    begin
    v_query :='(select empno,ename,deptno from emp where hiredate =' || control .value1 ||')';
    go_block('emp');
    set_block_property('emp',query_data_source_name,v_query);
    end;
    that bolded area is the problem that ia varchar value the single qoutes embedded with that value.how can i embedded single qoutes in that concatenation.
    That is now query will run like select empno,ename,deptno from emp where hiredate =control.value
    But we need like select empno,ename,deptno from emp where hiredate ='control.value'

    Thanks for your response
    We fixed the error
    and the answer is
    declare
    v_query varchar2(200),
    begin
    v_query :='(select empno,ename,deptno from emp where hiredate = ' ' ' || control .value1 ||' ' ' ) ' ;
    go_block('emp');
    set_block_property('emp',query_data_source_name,v_query);
    end;

    the value '70302/20307' is not an whole number so converting it to an int is not possible.
    You should check your data for this value an change your query or data.

  • Abnormal termination of runform when PROCEDURE is used as Query Data Source Type

    I created a package with a procedure that returns a table of records. This
    procedure tested OK in SQLPLUS. I then created a form and in this form a block
    that used this procedure as the Query Data Source Name, and of course the Query
    Data Source Type has been set to PROCEDURE. This form runs beautifully when the
    number of records returned is small (a few hundreds). But when the number of
    records is large (I have one case where the total number of records returned
    was 11099) then it will crash. I also found that whenever this happens, there
    will be a file in my C:\TEMP with funny namessuch as s90, s81, etc. They are
    always the same size (5008 kBytes).
    Anyone any ideas?

    Chandra,
    Thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunatel, we have requirements that translate to logics too complicated to be handled by views, and that is why we use PROCEDURES. This actually works very well and very fast, except when we have lots of records returned, then it fails. I am just wondering whether this is a configuration problem ???

  • Query Data Block issues

    We have a legacy Forms and Reports application(~750 items combined). I suspect the applications were developed initially under 6i, but they work quite well under 10GR2, and is testing well under 11GR2 (which we plan on migrating to soon). We ran into an issue the other day for Data Query Blocks, and wanted your expert opinion on it.
    Due to a change in business requirements, we recently had to increase the length of a database field (from 20 to 30). We went into Forms Developer, made the appropriate changes, and recompiled them all successfully. Everything *seems* to work fine, but we noticed we get failures on any item that tries to utilize that extra 10 characters. Apparently this is because the Query Data Block seems to use a cached/stale copy of the database field sizes, and still expects a size of 20! What we realized now is that we have to go into each of those forms, and REFRESH the Data Block (through the Data Block Wizard) for every one of them.
    My question is this: is there anyway to force the Form to refresh those Query Data Blocks absent going into each one and REFRESHING it? We've tried compiling through Forms Developer, and through Batch Compiles, and nothing seems to get those cached copies to update. I'd really prefer to tackle this issue once and for all since we are prepping for migration testing.  Frankly I suspect the table space was tweaked a good bit over the years since development (before I ever got here), and if they didn't REFRESH those Data Blocks properly, a great many of the Forms will be suffering this same cached/stale view problem.
    Appreciate your thoughts,
    Dave

    Q_Stephenson,
    That's an excellent suggestion.  I have seen vague hints and allegations of Forms manipulation using that method, but never felt comfortable with my overall knowledge(*) of Forms to look at it that deep.  I think it's time to clear some space and dig into the topic for a better look.
    Thank you,
    Dave
    (*) The majority of my programming background is in Java; it's only been recently that I've had to really dig deep into Forms.

  • APD with query data source

    Hi,
    I'm facing a problem, i created APD which have query data source, this query have so many calculated keyfigure and these calculated keyfigure has Exception Aggregation field is "Use Standard Aggregation" and on Calculations tab "local calculation is "Nothing defined". so Bex query result is defferent from query column "SUM". my problem is all query fields are map in APD there i'm suing the aggregation transformation which is using SUM and load data into DSO.
    Now query indiviual sum for each column is equal to DSO field sum but diffferent from BEx query sum, is there any posibility to take BEx query sum in DSO
    Please help me to fix this issue.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Could not understand your issue correctly. Could you please give sample values?
    My suggestion would be to create the query without any result rows and load it in the APD with 1:1 transformation.
    Does that fulfill your requirement?
    Thank.

  • Crystal Reports Templates usage - SAP BW MDX query data

    Hi Ingo,
    How are you?
    I am experiencing issues with crystal reports when trying to use crystal reports templates with SAP BW data.
    I have successfully created Crystal Report using SAP BW data with NodeID,  ParentNodeID hierarchy, Crystal Hierarchical Grouping.
    Also developed Xcelsius Dashboard using Live Office --> Crystal Report (SAP BW data) with refresh data on open.
    Now trying to create a template for new crystal reports to be designedu2026
    The following are observed by me:
    1.     When I create a crystal report using Report Wizard and select  templates from  the list shown, the following error displayed for SAP BW data:
    2.     When I try to apply template using Template Expert and selecting the report which is created using SAP BW data (and formatted), the following error displayed:
    u201CCould not apply template to the documentu201D
    I would like to know, whether there are known issues with Crystal Reports Templates using SAP BW data?  If so, could you suggest any solutions/work around to this issue?
    Thanks & Regards,
    S.Salai Manimudiyan

    I tried the following three methods:
    1. Applied all the 12 Crystal Templates
    2. Applied my own reports as Template
    3. Also applied Crystal Report developed using Templates Fileds.
    None of the above is working.
    Created a report with BW query data and try to apply all the above templates but the same issue.
    If I create a report using eFashion universe and apply all the above works without any problem.
    I do agree with you that templates should not depend on the data source, as it is mainly for the common/standard report page layout (to reuse)...
    Could you pl. check at your end and let me know the results.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • [JHS10.1.3] Date problem

    Running into a date problem for a forms migration.
    I have a date field in the database, normal date field.
    The users want to be able to search on partial dates.
    So adding a between on this field will only generate two date selectors, which is not what they want.
    The format is like a year field, week field, day field.
    I could modify the query to return three extra numeric fields which convert the date to the right format ('yyyy', 'wi', 'dd' ) and then to number and generatie 3 between fields for this.
    This will generate the right layout, 6 input fields for a year from/to week from/to day from/to
    But the query will be like (year between x and x) and (week between x and x) and day (between x and x)
    This will not produce the right results.
    What is possible is a string manipulation of the whereclase in the method getViewCriteriaClause()
    And see if any/all of the fields are filled and build the query there, but this is not a 'clean' solution.
    Any idea on how I can solve this? Basicly a date field in the database, user wants to search that date field on year/week/day between year/week/day or a partial of that.
    This is the way it used to be in the forms application so I really want to give the same functionality with ADF.
    Anton

    Not sure if I completely understand what you said, but this is what I did ( it seems to work )
    All my viewobjects extends a new superviewobjectimp, this class has just 2 setters and getters, one for the datefield I want to search on and one for the partial name I gave the three attributes (<fixed name>Year <fixed name>Week <fixed name>Day).
    In the advancedSearch, in the loop trough the attributes I cast the viewobject to this superviewobjectimp. I can now check if the attribute contains the partial name. If this is the case I build my own string and add it to the viewCriteriaMap.
    One odd thing I found here is that it refuses to let me add a string like
    between to_date( '<startdate>', 'yyyy-mm-dd' ) and to_date( '<enddate>', 'yyyy-mm-dd' )Because if I do this, for some reason the attribute name will be wrapped in a to_char!
    If I just leave:
    between '<startdate>' and '<enddate>'It works, but I dont feel really safe about that, I would rather use the datecast to be sure.
    Any idea how this can be done?
    I also used the java Calendar class to transform a yyyy-iw-d to a yyyy-mm-dd because it seems I cant use 'iw' in a to_date(....). This also solved a problem with partial dates, java will autocomplete them for me.
    In other words if I only supply the year 2005 to 2006 it will auto search from 2005-1-1 - 2006-1-1, same for weeks.
    I have a lot of viewobjects which will require this, I'm trying to make it as solid as I can.
    Any suggestions?
    Anton

         AND (a.warrenty_upto <= :blk_main.to_date OR :blk_main.to_date IS NULL)
         AND warrenty_flag_yn='W'
         ORDER BY b.item_description;BUT...
    Is Warrenty_upto really a date column? You say it is "stored as m/d/yyyy" but a date is not stored with a format in oracle - it's just a date and the format is applied when you retrieve the data.
    In sql*plus if you Describe the table you can see the column type. If you select the data you only ever get a string.
    I'm assuming :blk_main.to_date is a date.

  • Help needed with missing data problem in CRVS2010

    We recently upgraded the reporting engine in our product to use Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 (previously engine was CR9). Our quote report, which has numerous subreports and lots of conditional formatting, started losing data when a quote took more than a single page to be printed. We knew the SQL results included the data, but the report was not printing those lines at all or sometimes printing a partial line. In addition, the running total on the report would exclude the lines that were being missed on the next page. In one example submitted by a customer, 3 lines were skipped between pages.
    I think I have identified two potential issues that document the possibility of data not being included in the report.
    The first potential issue is an issue with the "suppress blank section" option being checked. This issue is supposedly fixed with ADAPT01483793, being released someday with service pack 2 for CRVS2010.
    The second potential issue is using shared variables. This issue is supposedly fixed with ADAPT01484308, also targeted for SP2.
    Our quote report does not explicitly use shared variables with any of the subreports, but it does have several subreports, each in its own section that has the "supress blank section" option checked. We have other reports that use this feature, as well, and they are not exhibiting the problem.
    One different thing about the quote report is that it has a section with multiple suppression options selected. The section has a conditional suppression formula, which controls whether the section is included at all within the report. The section also has the suppress blank section option selected. There are multiple fields within the report that are each conditionally suppressed. In theory, the section's suppress formula could evaluate to true, yet all of the fields within the section are suppressed (due to null values), and then the "suppress blank section" option would kick in.
    The missing data only seems to happen when the section is not being suppressed, and at least one of the fields is being included in the report. If I clear the "suppress blank section" check box, and change the section formula to also include the rules applied to the fields in the section, the missing data problem seems to be resolved.
    Is this related to ADAPT01483793? Will it be fixed in service pack 2?
    If more details are needed, I would be happy to provide a sample report with stored data.

    Hi Don,
    Have a look at the Record Selection formula in CR Designer ( stand alone ) and when exported to RPT format opening that report in the Designer also.
    There's been a few issues with => logic in the record selection formula. It could be you are running into this problem. Look for NOT inserted into your selection formula.
    Oh and SP2 is coming out shortly so it may resolve the issue. But if you want you could purchase a support, or if you have a support contract then create a case in SMP and get a rep to work with you to debug the issue.
    If you have not try the Trial Version of CR 2011, put it on a VM-ware image or Test PC so you don't corrupt anything for production and have a look at and test it in that designer also. If you purchase a case and it is a bug then you'll get a credit back for the case.

  • Use evdre to query data from a SQL View

    Hi all
    I believe that it is possible to use evdre to query data from a SQL View. If this is possible then how does one go about setting it up in the evdre options (assuming that the view has already been created)?
    Regards,
    Byron

    Byron,  perhaps this is no longer supported, it might be worth opening up a case at service.sap.com on this.  However, I did find the following on Page 11 of the "Usages and Considerations of EVDRE" pdf file.  This doc is imbedded in the helpfile for BPC 7 SP5 (which was released in August of 2009, well after note 1315011 was last updated.
    It looks like you are limited to one custom view per application, since you have to name the view in a parameter at the APPLICATION level.  Go into BPC Administration, login to the application related to the custom view, choose "Set Application Parameters" and enter the name of the view to the Application Parameter called "EVDRE_QUERYVIEWNAME"  If it is not listed, go ahead and create it at the bottom of the Application parameter screen.
    Also:  I interpreted the following info from Page 10 of the same doc:
    In your EVDRE, set the following options:
    QueryEngine: MANUAL
    QueryType:  enter either NEXJ  OR TUPLE  see below:
    NEXJ  - Use two-dimensional queries using the nonemptycrossjoin function
    TUPLE  - Use two-dimensional queries using tuples"
    And I'm assuming you'd enter a Y for the following two parameters:
    QueryViewName
    "..to enforce the query engine to use a used-defined SQL view of the fact tables, when trying to read the values using SQL queries. This option is typically used in conjunction with the SQLOnly option (see below). "
    Option SQLOnly
    "..to enforce the query engine to only execute SQL queries, when reading data. This can be achieved using this option."
