Query filter on  a value with dash confuses for a range

Hello, I've a web query, have a variable on a legacy PO which is char 10, the legacy PO values have legitimate - in their value for ex: 65011-001
when i enter this value in the query filter (variable value), the query comes with msg ' this characteristic info object doest not support interval selections', and ignores the filter and bring the all the values.
I tried putting PO enclosed with single and double quotes  but that didnt seem to work either, how can we make the variable take the literal value and do not interpret it as a range or interval.
thanks for the help.
Mayil

Alright figure it out..
looks like i've to give a escape in this case '\'
so if i entered the value like 64917\-001 it is able to filter out in the web.
i wonder if there is a way i cannot do this and get by..
thanks

  • Filter af:outputText  value with some parameters before loading component

I use jdeveloper 10.1.3 with web adf components.
I want to show outputText component with some custom Object (item),
    <af:outputText value="#{bindings.item}">
but before showing this component on the page , during runtime, this item object must be filtered with some parameters and then returned some string ( convert item object to string with parameters during runtime, before loading this outputText component).
    How can I do this?
Maybe it needs some back beans or I am thinking to create custom component like outputText ,but how to do ?
    what is optimal disizion?
can someone help me or someone can send some documentation?

    Hi,
When u will bind Output Text with some method in Backing bean u will get a set(),get() methods along with a CoreOutputText variable, u can initialized the variable , and if u want to check any condition then before setting the value then check the condition in the constructor of the backing bean and then change the CoreOutputText value accordingly, which will set the corresponding value,in the UI

  • Pass parameter with blank space for report ver 6

    Hi,
I face a problem that i willing to pass the acno where it's value with blank space, for example ' 9' as parameter into my report, and assign it as v_acno. Inside the report query i add a where condition, acno >= :v_acno. When i run the report and pass acno without ' , it do not show any record. But when i run the report and pass acno with ' then able to show the records.
for example the value i key in

    without ' = 9
So how i can solve it by pass the acno without ' but the record still able to show?

    Hi Nick,
It occurs because an argument of the DTExec commands must be enclosed in quotation marks if it contains a space. From the dtexe (SSIS Tool): Syntax Rules section of the
dtexec Utility (SSIS Tool) document, we can see:
All options must start with a slash (/) or a minus sign (-). The options that are shown here start with a slash (/), but the minus sign (-) can be substituted.
An argument must be enclosed in quotation marks if it contains a space. If the argument is not enclosed in quotation marks, the argument cannot contain white space.
Doubled quotation marks within quoted strings represent escaped single quotation marks.
Options and arguments are not case-sensitive, except for passwords.
So, you need to make the value of the variable @QUERY_STRING within double quotes in the value of the variable @Cmd or remove the space within the @QUERY_STRING value.

  • Search Results web part - Custom Query using "Value with a parameter from URL" inconsistent

I have encountered what I think may be a bug, but I am hoping that there is something that I am missing.
Within my search site, I have created a new search results page where I want to customize the "Search Results" web part query.  I can add in any number of property and keyword filters (using the "Build Your Query" dialog) without
issue... until I add a filter that uses the QueryString property (the builder dialog calls this "Value with a parameter from URL").
If I use {QueryString.MyParameterX} for filtering, it works beautifully in the query builder dialog.  I see the expected results in the search results preview pane, but as soon as I apply the changes things become inconsistent.
If I close/reopen my browser and navigate to my page at http://myaddress/search/Pages/testresults.aspx?MyParameterX=test I see results.  If I then refresh the page, I get a "Nothing here matches your search" message.  I can then go to
the same address but change one character to an uppercase character and get results.  Refreshing that same page again returns "Nothing here matches your search".  I can only get search results one time per uniquely cased URL without having
to close/reopen my browser.  This behavior was seen on both Firefox and IE.
Finally, I found that if I instead navigate to http://myaddress/search/testresults?MyParameterX=test, it always returns results.  This, unfortunately isn't the best solution for me... but it is a solution.
Any insight that anyone can provide is greatly appreciated!  I would really like to be able to depend on this working in all logical cases (especially since the search center of other sites is set using the path all the way down to /Pages).
    Thanks!

Hi, have you been able to solve this issue? I'm getting the same issue and I cant solve it (required CU is installed).

  • Multiple exclusion of query filter values

    Hello,
We are trying to find a way to do a multiple selection of non consecutive values (codes) to be excluded for further navigation, but either in Excel or Web reports it is only possible to do selections for exclusion one by one and when there are many non consecutive values, it is very time consuming and subject to errors.
Example: for listing customers that buy Material 1 but don´t buy Material 2, filter value 2 for Material, display all customers, then perform an exclusion of all the customers displayed, could be many, then the need of the multiple exclusion, and then do a Material selection for Material 1.
We appreciate any help on this subject.
    Regards
    Gustavo Sanson

    Hi Gustavo,
I think you can use precalculated value sets for this.
    I would leverage your example.
You would have a base query 'X' which displays all customers for which material2 ws sold foar a certain period.
This report will run in the background and fill the variable which is of precalculated value set type.
For this you will have to use broadcasting.
Create a broadcast setting for this base query X, name it customers for material 2.
Configure the broadcast setting to refer to characteristic customer for getting the multiple values.
Create a variable for customers in your actual quey and select its type as precalulated variable set.
Now when you run the actual query, you will see the variable in the variable popup and if you choose F4 value help, you will see your braodcast setting name, which is actually the precalculated value set.
    Use the operator to exclude.
One advantage with precalculated value set is , you can dynamically generate this list of multiple values at run time and for every period. You can schedule the broadcast setting to calculate the value set at whatever frequency you desire.
Check the link below for more explanation on precalculated value set.

On the report title I need those time frame above. I put the u201CTransaction Dateu201D on my report title.
However  on the report result I got #MULTIVALUE. Much appreaciate your help.

    Hi,
You cannot use minimum or maximum functions, take an example where user has entered dates like 1-1-2000 to 1-1-2012
but the actaual data may contain values for the dates 9-1-2001 to 2-9-2011 then your report with min and max displays vlaues 9-1-2001 to 2-9-2011 but the actual dates entered by user is different.
    ="Start Date: " + UserResponse("Enter Transaction Date(Start):")+" to  End Date : " + UserResponse("Enter Transaction Date(End):")

  • I have SSRS parametarized report in that one data set have repeated values with query parameter . but while am mapping that query parameter to report parameter i need to pass distinct values. How can i resolve this

I have SSRS parametarized report in that one data set have repeated values with query parameter . but while am mapping that query
parameter to report parameter i need to pass distinct values. How can i resolve this

    Hi nancharaiah,
If I understand correctly, you want to pass distinct values to report parameter. In Reporting Service, there are only three methods for parameter's Available Values:
    None
    Specify values
    Get values from a query
If we utilize the third option that get values from a dataset query, then the all available values are from the returns of the dataset. So if we want to pass distinct values from a dataset, we need to make the dataset returns distinct values. The following
    sample is for your reference:
    Select distinct field_name  from table_name
If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.

    Hi,
If you want to use JavaScript, we can use SPServices to achieve it.

  • Issue with Results from Another Query (Error on Null value)

    Hi All,
We have a WebI report using "Result from Another Query" option of BO XI R3.1. The report was running fine till recently the dimension object using result from another query had a null value. Report suddenly throwed error as the query filters are invalid.
Is there a way to make this filter optional if no data/null value is there ? Because we need those null values in report as well.
    Thank you for your time.
    Thanks & Regards
    LN

    Hi Vivek,
It was not directly solved but I applied alternate logic to over come the issue.
Here's what I did to overcome:
I used a sub query in place of the whole result from another query.
    For Ex:
Dim1 inlist result from another query1
    I made it as
    Dim1 inlist (Dim0)
    where Conditions.
Here Dim0 is the object which we use for Result from another query and Conditions will be the necessary filter conditions to arrive proper Dim0.  Make sure proper context is formed for the sub query.
Even though it resolved my problem, It introduces an new issue. It causes increase in query run time when huge set of data is returned from sub query.
Please let me know if i haven't explained clearly.
    Hi Aris_BO,
Sorry for not responding earlier.  The logic would probably make more queries null & not null. Thats why I was not advised to use it.
    Thanks

  • Updating a table with a query that return multiple values

    Hi,
I'm trying to update a table which contain these fields : ItemID, InventoryID, total amounts
with a query that return these values itemId, inventoryid and total amounts for each items
Mind you, not all the rows in the table need to be updated. only a few.
This what i wrote but doesn't work since the query return multiple values so i can't assign it to journalAmounts.
    UPDATE [bmssa].[etshortagetemp]
    SET JournalAmounts = (SELECT sum(b.BomQty) FROM [bmssa].[Bom] b
    JOIN [bmssa].[SalesLine] sl ON sl.ItemBomId = b.BomId
    JOIN [bmssa].[SalesTable] st ON st.SalesId = sl.SalesId
    WHERE st.SalesType = 0 AND (st.SalesStatus IN (0,1,8,12,13)) AND st.DataAreaId = 'sdi'
    GROUP BY b.itemid, b.inventdimid)
Any advise how to do this task?

Remember that link to the documentation posted above that explains exactly how to do this. When you read it which part exactly were you having trouble with?

  • WAD - Exclude more than one value with filter button

    Hi guys
I have been working on a web template with a button to set a filter to exclude two values. E.g. I want to exclude both the values '28' and '30' from the dataprovider.
What I have done is insert a button group item, create a button with the command SET_SELECTION_STATE_SIMPLE to exclude '28' as command 1 and SET_SELECTION_STATE_SIMPLE to exclude '30' as command 2. This does however not give me the correct result, as it only excludes '30' as set in command 2. So the conclusion must be that SET_SELECTION_STATE_SIMPLE can not be used, as it will only work with one value.
So I went on and tried with SET_SELECTION_STATE which gives the possibility to choose more than one filter value. However it does not seem possible to exclude values with this command?
Is it not possible to exclude two filter values with a button in a BI 7.x web template?
    BR
    Stefan.

    Dear Frank
I did it as like as the following link lead me:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/11/adfbc_new_features/adfbc.html
The problem has been appeared when I attached the "Create" button and when press on it to create new record, then the "LOV" couldn't work correctly.
    Thanks for your reply

  • Date query filter not working in job schedule

'm trying to add a schedule to an existing BQY job. Here's the process that i follow
    1. Right click the Interactive Reporting Job > Add Schedule
    2. Assign name to schedule
    3. Define job parameters starting with - 'New Values' selected
    4. Default cycle - Modify
    5. In the 'Set Values', there are no values by default.
    6. Below that, in the 'Modify Filter' section, I selected 'Custom Values' from the drop down
    7. A list of custom values are displayed in the segment to the right
    8. I selected two of those values, and clicked ' Update Filter'
The two values must now appear in the 'Set values' section, however they don't. That is the main issue here.
How then, do i add these custom values to the cycle of a scheduled job?
    I'm using:
    Internet Explorer 9 32-bit on Windows 7 32-bit
Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hi,
Prompts are interactive, and come from the query panel. Filters are not interactive, and are set on the report or block. There are also input controls, which are interactive filters
    1. Select the universe in the list of universes to open the Query Panel.
    2. Drag the Year object to the Result Objects pane.
    3. Drag the Number of Guests object to the Query Filters pane and create a report filter that restricts Number of Guests to greater than n.
    4. Click Combined Query.
The Combined Query pane appears in the bottom left of the Query panel with the two queries joined by UNION.
    5. Click on the second query and remove the Year and Number of Guests objects.
    6. Drag the Reservation Year object to the Result Objects pane.
    7. Drag the Future Guests object to the Query Filters pane and create a report filter that restricts the future guests to greater than n.
    8. Click Run Query.

  • Adding a list in Service Mananger Query Filter

    In this post:
    http://www.concurrency.com/blog/service-manager-request-query-result-filtering/
" The trick was to setup the simple list to include no initial results, which provided very fast form load and quick search
    result return speeds. "
They have a list or a prompt in their query filter. Is there a site anywhere that explains what this is, or where to do this? I'm absolutely baffled and searching provides no documentation but sky-high level overviews.

Lets say you want to filter users based on department. You'll end up with two questions in your service offiering
Department to search in. refresh the next question after changing this value.
    User.
the first question contains a simple list (see the table at
This Blog Post for more details on that)
    [null]
    LegitDepartment1
    LegitDepartment2
    LegitDepartment3
    ETC...
the second question is your actual query result question. The Criteria on this is going to compare the user's department to the results of the first question. >when the form loads, it going to run the following query:
    System.User where Department = [Null]
Since there are no users with a null department, this result will be empty and return immediately.
Then, the user goes down, hits the right department, and then hits refresh on the second question and gets the correct users, clicks the right one, and goes on with their life.

    Hi,
    1.  Create a CKF, inside the CKF window create a new Formula Variable --> Right click in left side window on var and say create new Variable
    2.  Create new variable of replacement path type and reference Characteristic as the TO DATE value which you want to be max.
    3.  Now drag this new created var to CKF and save.
    4. Now create condition with follwoing deatils:
    Key Figure              Operator     Value
    Max Date(CKF)       TOP N          1
Save and execute your query. This will give you max value for the To Date field.
    Hope it works .
